Just ok. The elevator in this complex breaks down every month. The parking which is run by the city, is sometimes nuts. Not worth what you pay when you walk by full trash bins most mornings. Belong to Equinox Newport Beach (home cluub) so maybe my expectations are a little higher than most. Club entrance is on the inside of the plaza. Took me a while to figure it out since there is a big "Entrance" sign on E. Green Street that really for somme music/bar establishment. Once inside, felt like I walked into a 24 Hour Fitness Super Sport that's been around for a few years (in the condition of a 24 Hour Fitness Active). Minus the Basketbal court, plus the smudges on the glass walls in the cardio studio, minus the broken drinking fountain in the back of the club that shoots out two streams of water (in between the two locker rooms). I can't speak for the women's locker room but the men's locker room had all of the amenities of your typical Equinox club-- Kiehls lotions, Q-tips, large towels, etc. I always wondered why all of the Equinox locations I have been to only supply the locker rooms with these huge towels, keeping the smaller ones outside? Maybe it's so that their members can walk an extra length or two and get some additional cardio in while retrieving them? The crowd here is (on a weekday around noon) is pretty much a bunch of middle aged soccer moms and some older, retired folks that probably work nearby. One incident which was bothersome here, which heavily contributed to the low star rating ocurred in the 100 degree yoga room at the end of the hall. I was stretching after an intense HIIT training session by myself, and this 55-60 year old guy comes up to me and says I need to leave. They have a class in 15 minutes? I told him it was 11:45, class was in 15 minutes and he should chill out. He then told me I couldnt wear my shoes in there since it was a "yoga studio". I told him I didnt see a sign outside that said no shoes.. What a "priviledged" individual this piece of work was...glad this isn't my home club! People seem way more uptight around here. read more

I have been a member of Equinox Pasadena for 22 years, and I absolutely love it. Everyone at Equinox is super friendly, from the management, to the front desk staff, to the teachers, trainers, and maintenance staff. I love the classes, especially spin and yoga. There are a wide variety of classes available throughout the day and weekend. I also love using the Soul Cycle bikes to take online classes whenever I pop in. The regulars at Equinox Pasadena are great -- the gym has a real community feel, unlike some of the other Equinox locations I have visited. The facilities are excellent -- everything is being constantly cleaned, and I love the amenities, especially the Kiehl's products and freshly laundered towels. I joined Equinox a few days ago, and so far I have been quite happy with the facilities, the classes, and most of the staff I have encountered. I would give this review a five star, except I had a very negative experience with one member of the staff. Management should be made aware. On December 30th, my husband and I walked in to sign up for membership. We did not have an appointment so it was understandable that we had to wait for an associate to give us a tour and go over the details of the membership. While we were waiting we witnessed a very disrespectful interaction between a staff member named Benson and a female member of the staff. He insulted one of his female colleagues in front of us while we were waiting, and thought it was ok to say that she was not good at her job compared to him. I found it appalling and almost told him off right there. The female colleague was caught by surprise and looked embarrassed but had the discipline to stay professional. I felt incredibly disappointed that Equinox would hire someone like Benson and especially as a customer-facing associate, what kind of impression do you want your customers to have of your brand! (ie smarmy, incompetent, misogynistic, unctuous) Benson owes her an apology and made aware that this arrogant disrespectful attitude is what gets people cancelled. If it were not for the gracious attitude of Matthew and the other members of the team, we would have walked out after witnessing Benson's despicable behavior. I joined this gym after LA County reopened gyms in March. While you are paying 5-6 times as 24-hour or LA Fitness, you get a clean gym with a lot of space. No annoying high school kids and attitudes. The locker rooms are clean and bright. Memebers are generally professionals wanting to work out. Unlike other gyms, there is no one sitting on gym equipment and texting. There is towel service, including refreshing towels that have been cooled, which is great after a workout. All staff are friendly and the cleaning crew does an excellent job keeping the place clean. Parking is convenient with 2 hours of free, validated parking. You get what you pay for. read more

This place needs a face lift. I'm not entirely certain when this location opened but it's pretty dated. It's noticeable when you're in the locker rooms (I.e. old looking tile, weird lighting, small showers, minimal locker room, old scale) It doesn't hold a handle to some of the newer equinox locations like Studio City. Unfortunately Equinox doesn't do a great job of maintaining it either given that the steam room smelt horrible (something I've never experienced at an Equinox) and the showers were pretty dirty last I checked. The classes at this location are also lackluster in comparison to other locations that have better instructors and more strength training classes. Not sure why some of the instructors at Pasadena are so obnoxious. Workout classes should definitely challenge you but some of these instructors suck out all the joy by being too intense and playing horrible music. Once again something I haven't noticed as much at other locations like Hollywood and Studio City where the instructors are a bit more playful and positive. read more

Although one of the smaller ones, this equinox is still pretty darn great... as it should be, for the price :P Located on the upper level of Paseo, stair access from colorado blvd or elevator/escalator/stair access from the middle of the Paseo shopping center. Alternatively, if you're driving, you can park in the lot across the bridge (entrance to the garage on S Marengo, go South from Colorado and it'll be the first one on the right) Obsessed w the icy cold eucalyptus towels in the lil fridge in the weights area (at the end of the hallway on the right side) and the eucalyptus steam room. Doubling up n doing both after a hard work out is soooooo amazing and feels increasingly better the harder you worked out! :D Access to towels everywhere: in the weight room, in the locker rooms, and sometimes even delivered to you while you're working out. wheee Most classes are great but my favs are Metabolic Meltdown w marc n Spin w Charles (best music!)/Sami (most pep --- her pep will rub off on you. If u want more pep, come to this class. I can def use more pep) Awesome to have separate studios for spin, yoga and the private pilates sessions. I travel everyday from Glendale to this club just to witness that the lady in the front desk didn't let use the restroom to one guy that was begging her to used the restroom to pee, the guy told her all the restrooms around were closed and he needed to pee so bad, the girl literally told the guy that since he was a guy he could do it everywhere but not at the gym's restrooms seriously?... even they guy asked for a sales persons to buy a membership since he said that he's always around charging his car and he'd like to work out while he car charges... Just for humanity she should've let the guy use the restroom. Minutes later I found the guy charging his Tesla next to mine and asked him if he was able to find a restroom and he told me that he had to find a tree, I told him why he didn't do that since the beginning and he told me that he likes to take care of the environment and the public areas. I'm here in Pasadena for a gig that my daughter is working. So, I called Equinox for a day pass and they said " oh,we don't do that". That's unfortunate. I live in Vegas, and the gym I go to is equivalent to Equinox. ( LifeTime Athletic Club ) and THEY offer day passes for out of towners. Ones that you can purchase- that I was willing to pay for the week that I'm here. Also, whoever answered the phone sounded extremely SNOBBY for whatever reason. If that's the vibe at this gym, it wouldn't have been worth it to pay for a guest pass ANYWAY- had you all offered that option that is. But... you don't do that. Equinox Pasadena is one of my favorite equinox locations. There are other locations that are bigger and nicer but Equinox Pasadena is such a vibe. It's by far one of the cleanest locations, it's never too busy and you can find a machine to workout effortlessly, the staff is friendly, and the classes are great. It's definitely one of the best gym's I've been to. Equinox offers a unique vibe. I've been a member at Equinox since it began off and on. I've rejoined after covid scare reduced. I need a trainer. I'm handicapped and need extra training. I contacted the manager of trainers and no call back or email. One trainer got a hold of me then disappeared. No where to be found. I called once more for them to give me a trainers number so I can call directly and stop trying to get the manager Stephen to help me. Texted her, called her. Nothing. I'm a ghost. It's the cold eucalyptus towels, barre classes & steam showers for me!!! Here's the deal, I had a CorePower Yoga membership for a few years, during the pandemic, their facilities were noticeably failing in cleanliness at a time where cleanliness matters even more. I mention that to say, I was already used to paying a decent amount for a workout.. so, I decided to switch to Equinox and I am so grateful that I did. This place is sparkling clean!!!! I feel like I could eat off of the floor. The cleaning staff are so sweet & helpful & they're so plentifully staffed- I'm telling you, they're efficient.. eagerly waiting at the door as classes are ending, to come sanitize every inch of the room/equipment! I do find it a bit weird the way they sell their memberships like you're buying a car (pressure & all) but I think I remember all gyms being that way. The only negative: their hours. I wish they offered a barre or yoga class late night. I would often go to CorePower's 9:30 PM class (that was such a nice way to wind down for the day!) or take classes on the weekends.. Been a member for few years and called in to discuss putting my membership on hold or cancelling due to schedule , they said I'd have to talk to the manager and that they would call me back. I never got a call back. I emailed no response. Month goes by, decide to go in to work out and talk to manager and they say my memberships been cancelled....?? I'm actually a member at a different Equinox location but I came through today mid afternoon to clear my head for the bar exam. (My hotel doesn't have a squat rack!) A workout was much needed and Gisele at the front desk was super helpful in explaining the guest check in process and getting me checked in without any hassle. Kenneth, one of the PTs on the floor was also super helpful in showing me where things were in the gym. I've been to a few locations and the staff at this location are definitely some of the nicest I've encountered. Would highly recommend checking this location out if you're in the Pasadena area. This particular Equinox has truly gone down hill since I joined this gym many years ago (the day they opened their doors-- so a long time ago). I am a member at all of the Equinox gyms as I travel for my job quite a bit. The management goes out their way to make members who give feedback feel unwelcome. 1. Everyone is allowed to be on FaceTime (and cell phones) while on machines or on the floor. If you ask management to kindly deal with it, they decline. 2. It is common for all TVs to be on one station. If you ask to change the channels, no one seems to know how and / or ask you to go to front desk who tells you they cannot leave the desk to do it. It is a very lengthy and futile process that should be the easiest task the employees do. 3. The classes are always full before the average person can go online to sign up. Always a waiting list. 4. The rules about bringing a small bag into your workout classes vary from instructor to instructor. I like to carry my purse in with me rather than go into the locker room and risk losing it. Some teachers ask you leave it in the locker room, some do not mind. It has become a mass gym with outrageous fees with no customer service. I usually drive to a better Equinox even thought I live in Pasadena. It is a true pain but better than dealing with the numerous issues at this location. Studio City is so much better as is Century City. read more

It's top of the line. Super clean. Not too crowded. Premium equipment. App that tracks your exercise and stats. Treadmill courses where you are walking through national park trails. Friendly staff. Knowledgable trainers. The only drawback is that they don't have a pool or true beginner-level classes. And their gift store caters to the super thin. But, they have eucalyptus oil ice towels for your face and neck while you work out and an amazing steam room with a cool shower in it that feels like you are standing under a waterfall. The toiletries in the locker room are premium. Amino Acid shampoo with coconut oil, really nice conditioner, grapefruit body gel... my hair looks amazing and it's super soft. Plus they have organic feminine hygiene products (ummm ok) and everything needed to get ready to go to work in the morning. I got ready for work there this morning along with the rest of the ladies there in the AM and we all left looking great and ready to take on the world! The price tag isn't cheap... $162/mo. which comes with a year long commitment. You can get out of it in one of three ways: lose your job, move, or get sick (something like that). Came with my boyfriend to the gym and he pays a ridiculous amount for this gym and he tried to bring me in as a guest but they said they weren't doing guests due to covid which is understandable, I then asked if I could pay to go in and the girl with the purple hair said no. She said no guests or day pass due to covid and they have a certain capacity they can't reach. So I went on to ask if they reached capacity and she just kept saying no. Lol, ok. I have been working out at Equinox for 2 1/2 years. It is always incredibly clean and the equipment, which is state of the art, is always in good working condition. What I love about Equinox is that it is never too crowded, even during peak hours. This review is not so much about Equinox as it is about my personal trainer, Ryan Brock. I am 48-years-old, and I have been lifting weights since I was 16. However, I never learned how to properly do squats or deadlifts. Those two exercises are crucial for building a balanced, all-around athletic/muscular body. No matter how hard I tried, I could not learn how to properly do those two critical exercises. I watched videos on YouTube and tried to mimic the moves, but whenever I did the exercises, my back hurt the next day. I retained Ryan because he struck me as being highly competent, enthusiastic and friendly. Ryan has lived up to all expectations 100% and then some. I also hired Ryan because I wanted to learn the tricky art of boxing; it is excellent for fitness and self-defense purposes. Ryan trained in boxing for over six years and it shows-he really understands why it's critical to move your body in a certain way, and shift your balance in a certain way while punching, in order to get maximum speed and power. I have had eight training sessions with Ryan so far. During those sessions, Ryan taught me the finer points of squats and deadlifting. I can easily say that I would never have been able to properly do those exercises without Ryan's help. It would've been impossible for me to get my body into the right positions to lift any kind of real weight without Ryan moving my body to adjust my stances and movements. I am happy to report that now, my back never hurts after doing squats and deadlifts. What has been most surprising is the gains that I have already achieved. I am doing one session per week. Not only have I learned the proper way to squat/deadlift, I have actually made substantial gains in muscle during this time. I can see real muscle growth in my posterior, my legs, shoulders, back and biceps. It has been a very pleasant surprise to have people around me comment that they can really see a difference in my body. Regarding boxing, I have learned how to properly execute a left jab, a right cross, left hook (which is a deadly punch!), right hook, left uppercut, and right uppercut. I have also learned how to move my body in order to dodge my opponent's punches. It is fun and exciting to punch away with proper form while Ryan holds up hand target mitts. When I am working out on my own, I use the tips that Ryan taught me. I now confidently hit the heavy bag at the gym, and also one I bought for my home. The cardio benefits I get from boxing are excellent, and I am always left sweaty and exhausted. Boxing is just so great for relieving stress and tension. Further, I have seen fat melt away from my body, and what is left is the lean muscle that I have always sought, but was never quite able to get on my own. Ryan always pushes me, and in a positive way. He is always encouraging, patient and supportive. As an added bonus, Ryan smiles easily and he is fun to talk to; he actually makes it fun to go to the gym! Ryan is a true professional, and in my opinion, he would be an excellent personal trainer for anyone who is serious about making a difference in the way they look and feel about themselves. I sadly did not renew my membership here after a good 10 year run. Why? Membership is now $212 a month. Yes the facility is very clean; yes, rarely is equipment out of order; yes, group fitness classes for the most part are great. But the price point is now too high - this is literally 8x what a membership costs at Speakeasy or LA Fitness. I ended up with a membership at the LA Fitness in Pasadena on Rosemead Blvd. (don't go to the one on South Lake - totally different experience / that location is poorly rated). I honestly expected that I would miss the unique Equinox experience, but so far I'm very happy with LA Fitness - the facility has a 3 lane 25 yard indoor pool, the locker rooms are actually very spacious (much more spacious than Equinox which I didn't expect), there is actually more strength equipment here as well. It is missing kettle bells, the treadmills are not as nice as those at Equinox, and the group fitness classes are sparse. Place is clean as well. Only niggle is folks don't rack their dumbbells on the rack properly / staff doesn't seem to organize them correctly either - you'll find 100 lbs sitting on a rack designated for 20 lbs. This LA Fitness facility is a solid compromise and I'm keeping $180/mo that otherwise would have gone to Equinox. read more

I've known of Equinox for a while but that monthly membership is way more expensive than my Costco 24 Hour Fitness pass. However, I think it's been totally worth it. With so many fitness studios popping up-- yoga, pilates, barre, cycling, boot camp, etc. and charging just about the same amount with an unlimited monthly membership, it makes sense to pay about that much, get variety, and a gym, with nice equipment and amenities. They have sales so check that before signing up. The initiation comes with 2 personal training sessions (only one actual training, the first one is an assessment, which is also important!), a private pilates session, guest passes, coupons for the shop and the spa, and a t-shirt. They also validate for 2 hours which is longer, and finding parking is easier than at my old gym. The strength classes have all been amazing. I feel like I'm in the best shape of my life now and I'm still getting my butt kicked. The barre, pilates, and yoga classes definitely depend on the instructors. I used to go to different yoga studios so I don't find the yoga classes to be my style, but that's okay. read more

Never had any problem with management, billing, or business practices from this Equinox or any other Equinox. I've been a member for 10+ years, started in NYC, and migrated my way to Pasadena. Cancellation was a breeze (long outside of the first year lockdown). But why the cancellation? Basically, this gym is not worth the price (around $167/month, plus the annual raise in prices--who knows for what since nothing really changes/updates). It's clean, usually not too busy, and employees and trainers are usually very nice. But those reasons alone do not justify the dues for this single location. The gym is small, the lighting is kind of dim, not much natural light, and just doesn't really give much excitement in terms of "motivation." I've gone to smaller Equinox gyms in NYC in OC that didn't have this problem. I think the issue really is the layout/location of this gym. If one day this Equinox moved to a different building in the area that had more space and light, I'd definitely reconsider joining--but as of now, it's just ok. read more

For the amount they charge you (plus the constant annual increases), this gym is very very meh... It's small and lacking in basic workout and weightlifting equipment. It also has this strange, harsh, high-contrast white lighting that makes everything seem simultaneously too bright and too dim. It's hard to describe, but the lighting just doesn't seem very natural. The gym really does not have a lot of amenities to justify $130/month or whatever it is now (did I mention that they're always increasing the fee?). The only "fancy" amenities I've seen are the eucalyptus towels and Kiehls products (big whoop). I've been at different times during the day, but it's never really that crowded, which is nice. I did like the fact that they had ample squat racks, but if I'm remembering properly, they didn't have a seated military press area, only one incline barbell bench press area, and a small free weights section that's oddly divided into two separate sections of the gym. Staff aren't unfriendly, but they don't really go out of their way to deliver great customer service either, which at $100+, you better be greeting every customer with a smile and a "hello." In terms of being a functional gym and being able to have great workouts, it's worth about $30/month in my opinion... nothing special. I've been to Golds Gyms and LA Fitness's that have way more to offer for 1/3 of the price. Also, as someone who feeds off the vibe and motivation of others working out around me, there's really not a lot to work with here... Just a lot of wealthy/upper middle class people who join the gym doing half ass workouts, just so they can say that they workout. read more
