I have been spoiled by my parents in that they help maintain my car for me, but now that I live farther away I have taken on more of that responsibility (yay real adulthood!). My car was making a not so good sound, so I decided to bring it in to these guys because my boyfriend had a great experience with them. They were amazing. Extremely approachable and attentive, knew almost immediately what my problem was, gave me a fair price, and even explained what they were doing as they were doing it so I knew what to look out for in case it happened again. They let me hang out and watch TV while I was waiting for my car and were really chill. Everyone I encountered there was nice, friendly, and helpful. This was my first visit to ER, based on Yelp reviews and proximity to my new job. First, the conversation on the phone convinced me to try them out. Then, they were true to the commitment in the morning when I dropped off the car, and they gave me a ride to work. I got a call later with excellent recommendations. When I called at 3, to tell them I needed my car by 4:30 to get to a meeting across town, they carefully completed work to a good stopping point. When I pulled up at 4:30, my car was parked out front and ready to go. The rest of the work will be done next week. All communication, problem-solving and follow-through were top notch. When I moved to Austin I was pretty upset about leaving my old Mechanic in Los Angeles (Dave Frost, if you're in LA he's the best!). When my check engine was on I found ER on yelp, the good reviews were enough but they were so close I had to do it! The first time I saw them they did a great job, did it fast and at a reasonable price. This last Tuesday my alternator starting acting up they told me to get in ASAP, when I said I couldn't because I didn't have a way home Eric (the owner) told me not to worry and they'd give me a ride home. John (the other owner) dropped me off at home without second thought. The next day they called and said it was the alternator belt, not the alternator itself (pshew!). I paid over the phone and he told me he'd leave the keys somewhere we pre-determined. Unfortunately when I went to get the car the keys weren't where we agreed they'd be. I kind of freaked out. When I called the next day one of the employees told me he had my keys. In about an hour Eric called me back and apologized profusely. He offered to pick me up from WORK and take me to the shop so I could pick up my car. I had a coworker who took me instead when I got to the shop he apologized even more and then gave me the keys and told me he "cleaned it up a bit". He washed my car, cleaned all the windows (inside and out) and even put a little gas in it!!! I was originally kind of cranky about the whole key situation, but I am absolutely THRILLED with the customer service I experienced. I will never use another shop in Austin. read more

I dropped my vehicle off last Monday night, spoke to a technician Tuesday and said it would be a couple days for a part. He told me it would be 2 days to get the part. Its just a seatbelt. I was fine with a couple of days but not over the weekend as I need my vehicle on Sunday. Today is Saturday and I haven't heard anything. I have made a few phone calls and haven't heard back. Now I am going to have to rent a car for when I need my vehicle tomorrow. Not sure how it takes so long to put a new seatbelt in. I would be glad to edit this post once I have some sort of communication. This place was highly recommended by a friend who refers a significant amount of people here and I am not impressed so far. All this from a job that should have taken 4 hours by the book standards. Coming from a former mechanic i know it might take longer with certain complications. BUT NOT A WHOLE EXTRA 2 DAYS!!! I cannot say enough good things about this place. They gave me a realistic expectation of the amount of time it would take to do the work on my 2009 Chevy Tahoe and money it would cost. They were fair in their price and honest. It is super important for me to find businesses that understand our nonprofit budget, Not looking for free work but looking for trustworthy and reasonable businesses. This was the place. I tell you what, finding a team of mechanics that keep it straight and honest is a rare thing these days. I had an engine diagnostic (coil pack replacement, oil change, tie rods, idler arm, and wheel alignment all taken care of by these guys for less than $700. I could have done the oil change and coil pack replacement myself, but since they had to change the tie rods and idler arm anyway - I wanted it all to run correctly. My truck runs like its brand new and its got 169,000 miles on it. Eric recommended where to get the best deal on new tires and what type to get for longer wear and a smooth ride. We're about to take a trip out-of-state when we noticed our van smelled like coolant. We brought our van in to ER and left it there. Later that afternoon we received a phone call saying that no leaks could be detected but we were welcome to leave the van overnight so another check could be performed the next morning (thought a cold start might produce a leak). The next afternoon we received another call saying that even after pressurizing our coolant system no leaks were detected. I hurried in to pick up the van and was told that there'd be no charge since an actual repair wasn't done. I was shocked. Their service may be good but VERY, very expensive compared to the majority of shops in NW area of Cols. (Columbus, Hilliard, Arlington). Hourly rates are NOT posted. So expect the shop in Arlington to be around $125- $150per hr. And ask their rates and estimate fees up front. I have dealt with many of vehicles of mine and our staff at the majority of shops in NW area and found this to be most expensive. Paid close to $200 for estimate and took elsewhere. Other shops were close to 60 - 70% less with same work and more!!!! Of course, if you have in your yard a tree that grows money, this is the shop for you. read more

If you're looking for a honest mechanic, look no further. I took my Honda Odyssey to the Round Rock Honda Dealer yesterday for a safety recall. When I came to pick up the car, the advisor told me that the tech found a leak in my timing belt tensioner and that I needed to replace the timing belt and tensioner. Cost was $742. Based on all the good reviews and a very pleasant experience talking with Archie over the phone, I took my van in this morning to get it checked out. They took it immediately and in less than 10 minutes had checked out the situation. Turns out there was nothing wrong with the vehicle, no leaks. They topped off my fluids and sent me on my way no charge. These guys rock. If you need an auto repair look no further, these are your guys. My van is at 76k. I can easily refer family and friends to ER Automotive after they took care of my 2009 Subie Forester. After a DIY project of replacing the valve seals and replacing plugs I started the car to find that it was running rough and I thought I killed it... I thought I really messed something up and so I drove it up and dropped it off hoping they could get me fixed up. Chris took my information and as promised I got a call back from Ryan (the owner) by noon. He was polite and didn't call me out on being overzealous on my skills. He explained they just had to diagnose the issue then re-seat the fuel injector I put back in wrong. The price was very reasonable and Ryan assured me I could keep my "man card". This is a true gem of a local Cedar Park business. I am always anxious about finding a place for car repairs, it seems it's one of the hardest and most nerve wracking things to find a truly honest and competent mechanic shop. I believe I've actually found one in ER Automotive. I did my due diligence in checking out every online review site as possible, but to be honest, it's still a bit of a gamble. However, after hours of research, when the dust settled it looked like ER Automotive was as good a place as any on which to do that gambling. I took my husband's 2005 Chevy pickup in for plugs and wires and to diagnose a "Check Engine" light issue. Arrived when they opened at 8:00 a.m. and was greeted immediately. In fact, I think everyone there came in and greeted me while I initially waited in the front room. Everyone working there is extremely polite and kind. Within a certain radius, they offer a ride back home while repairs are being made. I took advantage of this as I knew the repairs would take several hours and I was happy to not have to sit in their waiting room all that time. Before I left, they advised me of the results of the 'Check Engine' light. I called my husband and he spoke directly to the technician. We agreed to the work that was indicated as well as a price. When the repairs were done, I went back to the shop and was delighted to see that they actually charged me a bit less than they'd quoted. Eric (the owner? manager?) answered a couple of questions for me as I paid. One of the technicians who worked on the truck came in and gave me the highlights of what he'd done and found. The other technician also came in, and all three fellas as well as the front desk gal thanked me and wished me a good day. Polite and kind. That goes a long way with me. The work done appears solid and appropriate. The prices were as quoted and inline with four other garages that I contacted for the same services. I will be taking my own car in when it needs work.
