Absolutely love this place! Great beers and many options, full bar and the burger they have is one of the best burgers I've ever had. Don't go expecting fries cause their setup is super small but very impressive with what they can do. This place is the "OG' dive bar on Manhattan beach. The real secret to this place is the burger. The burger at Ercoles is increbible. I mean, really, really good. They get their beef from the butcher next door and gril them right in front of you on a charcoal grill. They know exactly how to serve the burger. Just the right lettuce, onion, tomato, ketchup, mayo and they even grill the bun. Its hard to find a better burger in the southbay. You are mising out if you do not eat this burger once in your life. I've heard about Ercoles burgers since pre-covid and finally had a chance to try them! The burgers were juicy and flavorful. Everything you'd expect from your classic burger. Make sure you have napkins on hand. Burgers come with a bag of chips. We didn't get to choose which kind but since we weren't going for the chips it doesn't really matter. read more

On Sundays, we ride our bikes along the beach and always stop at a new place to eat. This past Sunday, we decided to eat at Ercoles because we were told they have good burgers. Well, the burgers are nice sized patties that were cooked medium rare. It was pretty tasty, but they only offer American cheese ( I prefer real cheese). We were told that it would be a fifteen minute wait which turned into 45 minutes. While we were waiting, a group of guys that were waiting before me finally got called to pick up their order. They were angry because their fifteen minute wait was a sixty minute wait. Also, they ordered chicken sandwiches and they were give hamburgers (which they could not eat due to their religion). The man argued with them for a good ten minutes before he accepted blame for his error and then had the correctly made. So, the man gave us their two burgers that they could not eat. I wonder how much longer we would have waited for our burgers to be ready. read more

"Dive bar in Manhattan Beach" may not be an oxymoron, but it is certainly a contradiction. In a place where oceanfront homes regularly go for $10m+, the clientele isn't down-and-out. But it is down to earth. Full on dive bar vibe, good jukebox music, service that is as fast as you'll get in a busy place (and friendly, without being fawning), and burgers hot off the grill that are as good as other reviews say. EXTREMELY rude and disrespectful BARTENDER !!!!! I didn't get his name but he's an older man with salt n pepper hair and kinda balding. I was there yesterday night for the the 4th of July. I witnessed this BARTENDER disrespected this younger couple as they placed their drink order. The BARTENDER embarrassed this couple when he started joking about their order loud enough that I heard. He even asked the security working the door that night, if he really checked their identification because the drink order was was not the usual. I really felt bad for the couple. If I were the owner I'd fire the SB. You don't treat people like this let alone your paying customer. Im sure they'll never come here again and I hope they write a bad review like I am. Great burger in your typical local dive bar. I recommend the Combo Burger, with a Link on top. Wednesdays are 2 for 1 Burgers. Cash only is a little bit of a drawback, but the prices are pretty good. Definitely an older crowd so not all young people love it, but I like popping in here as one of my local spots and/or to watch a game. Also good place to stop in if the other bars are packed from the beach crowd. Service can be hit or miss. Sometimes great, but sometimes it takes forever to get your food. read more

All the crew (Mike, Reuben, Martin, Barnes, Allison, and Irene) are consistently welcoming and honestly enjoy the interchange with their loyal customer base. They have become like the relatives you love to tell stories about. All characters, always well meaning. Mike has memory like an elephant. With all he has to deal with, he always remembers that me and my daughter always drink Pacifico. If not enough, Martin makes the absolute best hamburger imaginable. By the way, don't get a big ego if you are female and Martin calls you BEAUTIFUL. He does that to everyone :-) Warm, welcoming, fun, good prices and great food. My daughter and I always consider broadening our bar options, but somehow we always find our way to 1101. Lastly, they are open for take out service.
