Came in to place a carry out order for salads and sandwiches. Had my sons girlfriend with us from South Florida. She just got done saying how nice people were from Monroe as we just left another locally owned clothing store where the service is always incredible. I couldn't believe how rude the owner was to my guest. She was trying to take in the menu and make her selection. And asked about customizing her salad. Well that didn't go over well. I found myself acting like the middle man trying to glaze over the rude response. She acted as if we were wasting her time and that she had something way more important to do. Then she barked "I CAN'T HEAR YOU". Not, excuse me. I was so embarrassed I couldn't even react. Clearly my $45 carry out order meant nothing to her so in the future I will make sure to give my business to an establishment who does care. Monroe is so lucky that Erie Bread is located in the heart of downtown! Easily accessible parking too! Recently expanded and now serving literally the best pastries I've ever had and delicious cookies! This is on top of their fresh, delicious and hands down amazing soups, salads and sandwiches. I was visiting from out of town and they were so rude to me. I asked if I could make my own sandwich and she said "No, pick something off the menu." Then I picked something off the menu and asked for a few things taken off and she says "I can't hear you." At least say "excuse me." Ridiculous. read more

Quite possibly the best sandwich I've ever had (aside from mom's BLTs, of course) and definitely the best food in Monroe. Their pizzas are pretty good (to me the pizza dough is too chewy), but if you're hankerin' for a sandwich be sure to order the "Jason's Irregular"! Wow. The pepperoni rolls are perfect: hearty, baked just enough to get that great crispy vs. doughy ratio, and they're melt-in-your-mouth buttery. I still can't believe how good this place is! read more

Amazing bakery/sandwich shop. They offer salads, sandwiches and soup for lunch. All their artisan breads are baked there and I was incredibly tempted to go crazy buy loaves of bread. I ordered an "almost vegetarian" which was roasted veggies, mozzarella, basil, green olives with a balsamic dressing on a pepperoni sub. It was so delicious and fresh - easily one of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten. I will be coming back here most days while I am staying in this town. read more

We ordered two sandwiches and a bowl of soup. It was mediocre... I can't say the place is "bad" but it is simply "ok" if you are looking for something different and are tired of the regular fast food availability then check them out. Okay, so. I've been out of town for about 3 years. I just moved back and went to one of my favorite restaurants. I was looking forward to seeing one of my favorite employees ever. But! Very good bread, tasty and crisp crust. Sandwich was a bit disappointing. A little skimpy on the meat and too heavy with the mustard. A little hard to find as its located in a strip of businesses behind the tire store off the main street. Address takes you to the tire store and can't see that the sandwich shop is just before the tire shop on the same side of the street. read more

Best sandwich I have ever had. A colleague of mine were on a driving trip for work. We went from NH, over to MI then down to FL and back to NH. All of this was over the span of two weeks in which we ate three meals a day in restaurants. This sandwich is the most memorable meal I had. This is a very small place, with no inside seating and a long wait for your sandwich (I ordered inside and waited about 25 minutes for my meal), BUT do not let that stop you from going. I ordered a sandwich called The Crazy Bird Above  - cranberry walnut stone ground wheat bread roasted with provolone and stacked with smoked turkey, avocado, shaved red onion, and mustard sauce. it was 6.95. Love this place...I have only tried a few of their sandwiches but by far my favorite is the Almost Veggie. I get it on the pepperoni roll (hence the "almost" veggie), pull off the pepperoni so only the flavor of it is left and enjoy...it's awesome. The salads are great as well. I especially like the housemade balsamic vinaigrette. I have yet to try the soup but I've been told that it's very good too. I will be returning soon. read more

One of those hidden local places that makes you glad you went looking... Excellent food with local ownership. You can't beat fresh bread, right? I had the 13/8 on 9... Fantastic! The hot pickled peppers and house-made sauces are awesome.
