This is Real Tex/Mex Mexican food. This is my third time to this location and have enjoyed every bite. Guacamole is fresh and food is made to order. The Beer is cold and Margaritas are exceptional. Tried Ernesto's on a whim while up in Prosper. Was greeted by the waitress promptly and was served water, chips, and salsa. Their salsa is pretty decent and fairly mild. The flavor was a little muddled and not clear. Most salsa I like is distinct in its flavor and taste. The chips were quite good; warm and not oily or greasy and were lightly salted. I ordered the chili rellano with beef filling. I thought I ordered the fajita beef yet it came with ground beef/taco meat. Not a deal killer. The rellano was lightly battered and still crunchy which I like. The overall flavor was quite good. The dish included rice and refried beans. The rice was quite nice - not sticky or clumpy. The beans were decent yet uninspired. Sort of "out of the can and onto the plate". My wife enjoyed her dinner too having quesadillas which are truthfully hard to screw up. The order was a little messed up for my kids. We ordered sides of fajita meat (1 beef and 1 chicken) with sides of tortillas. They sent out full blown orders of fajitas. Well... that was ok I suppose as they were pretty hungry. I did notice that the bill only had 1 order and when I inquired the waitress said that they (kitchen) messed up so she comped one of the meals. Nice! Overall I'm rating 4 stars. The food is good, not great. The restaurant was clean and the service was good; attentive but not hovering. read more

Friday dinner 3/15/19 Have been a somewhat frequent place to eat for us over the last few years-since its in the neighborhood (Prosper) My son found the seal from an avocado in his meal and I had a dried mint leaf stuck to the bottom of my pina colada! When the waiter asked if everything was ok - these two things were pointed out to them. The manager came over - when we showed him - he tilted his head as if confused. He never apologized and did not offer to remove the drink or meal. He simply walked away. They have lost a good customer! read more

Wasn't my favorite Mexican place, being from California I wasn't expecting the usual kind of flavor and service I receive back home- however this place didn't mean my already lowered expectations. My wife has been going here long before we met. The food is delicious and the staff is friendly. If you eat there the food never sits around and is delivered smoking hot. The pick up option is solid and the food is ready when they say it will be. Whether we eat there or pick up, the order is spot on even with special requests. They have a extra spicy salsa if you request it. read more

Decent Mexican food option in the Prosper Celina area! The chips and salsa are pretty good and usually come to the table quick. The staff is pretty attentive, but I have seen many different faces over the years. I was a waiter once, and I understand that turn over is something that does happen in the industry. They have a patio to enjoy margaritas or a beer on at lunch or in the evenings. Later in the night it can be quiet, but that is when I receive the best service in my opinion. Instead of five, I am rating a 4 because the restaurant could always be a little cleaner. Always seem to brush crumbs off my chair or table when I come to sit. Seriously though, if you need a quick Mexican food bite to eat, Ernesto's in Prosper will do the trick. Can't speak for the other locations, but I could be checking the McKinney location out soon! read more

Food is consistent & good every-time. But when you walk in not during the rush, you often times have to peak your head around the corner so you can be seen & seated. PJ is the best waiter, also. Keeps drinks filled without having to ask, knows the menu, great personality, and always willing to answer questions. Will continue to go back! read more

Very disappointing. We have been trying to get through to the restaurant for over 30 minutes. We get a busy signal which tells me that they likely do not want to take a carry out order this close to their closing time (over an hour from now). This has happened in the past. The people rating this anymore than 3 stars have to be high. Literally, you have to be high to eat and enjoy their food. Either that or have to have been starved for a week whilst trapped in someone's basement and fed crushed potato chips underneath the door to consider this anything more than the bland, overpriced, unremarkable establishment that it is. We went twice. We wanted to give it another try, as there aren't many close choices in Prosper. Both times were bad; however, the second time we visited was what will forever stick with me. Those fish tacos will always remind me to never go back. If you don't take this advice, and you do end up going to this place, please don't spend the 14$ for fish tacos. You're better off eating a piece of cardboard. It would likely be more flavorful. read more

Not sure why this place is getting 4 and 5 stars. There are so many much better places in the Metroplex. With stars like that this place should be awesome but it's not. It's just meh Tex-Mex. The rice is dry and has not much flavor. The re fried beans are too loose and taste lard. The tacos are good but the cheese enchiladas not so much. I don't know the last time I had bad service at a restaurant. We waited a while at the host stand to even be acknowledged to be seated. When we sat down at the booth, I received a text message. From the time on the text until the waiter came was 11 minutes. We ordered drinks & food and DH asked for a cup of soup out first. Almost 30 minutes later our food arrives. The soup came out with the meal, not before as requested. Our drinks were empty, and had been empty. The waiter brings DH a refill but not one for me. He drops off a new glass/refill for DH and looks at me and points to the glass. I look back at him inquisitively for alas, I am not a psychic, but I assume you are trying to ESP me into responding whether or not I would like my empty glass refilled. He finally asks, "Refill?" Now, up until this point, for as annoyed as we were, we still would have come back to try them again. The chips and salsa, and ultimately our food, was good. Both of our entrees were cold, but the taste was good. So back to the experience: Our waiter gathers up glasses from the table next to ours, along with mine. Now, when you sit down, they give you covered straws (you know, wrapped in paper that you have to peel off so that you know it is sanitary to sip off of). Waiter comes back, drops off the refills to the table next to us first, then brings me mine. Mine has a straw in it with red lipstick. I was not wearing any lipstick. This is disturbing on so many levels. I mean, at this point, what do you do? Servers should not need to be told to make sure the same glasses get handed back to the same people. They should not need to be told about the amount of illnesses poor food handling causes each year. We stopped eating our food, asked for the check, paid, and left. From start to finish, this was a complete disaster. As we were waiting for our change, the hostess was shouting across the restaurant to (I assume the manager) "I need to be out of here by 8:50... eight fi-fi--fty." This place is an absolute train wreck. If you absolutely must have your Ernesto's fix, go to the one in Pilot Point. This place is unsanitary with employees who are just as clueless as they are unprofessional. read more

We didn't make a scene at all, but probably should have knowing the who cares attitude. Our waiter came to the hostess station thinking we skipped the bill and didn't offer any apologies. Don't do takeout- it's not the same quality as eating in. They always forget something, too. Overpriced. If it was cheaper, would be better.

This is my husband and I's FAVEEEE mexican food restaurant - its so good that we frequent this place weekly..YES, weekly! The service is perfect, and the food is great - we've never had a bad experience here. Good lunch specials, but their dinner prices are totally afforable too. This place was very disappointing. We had to wait almost an hour to even order our meal, and we were only able to do so because we called over the manager. The dining room was not very busy at all and still our server was extremely slow and unable to multitask. The food we did eat before walking out was nothing to rave about either. This is the second time I have been to Ernesto's in Prosper. First time was for Dinner and this time for Lunch. For lunch our group of 5 had a variety of items - the Platter, Carne Asada, Pollo David, Shrimp Salad, and Chicken Fajita. It was a lot of food and every one had some boxed for dinner. We all loved the food and will go again. The service was great - PJ our waiter was very pleasant and had good suggestions. He took good care of us. Definitely a good place for TexMex.
