Tried to go for brunch around 11:30 on June 28th. No one was there to greet me. No body was there eating. Two guys said they were closed.

Thanks to the reservation, we were seated right away and immediately greeted by our server, who was honestly amazing from start to finish. She was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience feel effortless. We kicked things off with drinks. I started with an espresso martini, and it was really, really good--smooth, balanced, and exactly what I was hoping for. For my second drink, I tried the smoked Old Fashioned from their holiday menu. It was good, but I'll be honest, it was extremely strong. Like, really strong. In general, their drinks definitely pack a punch, so that's something to keep in mind when ordering. For my entrée, I ordered the Mediterranean smoked chicken salad, and wow. It was hands down one of the best salads I've ever had in my life. Everything was perfectly balanced, flavorful, and satisfying, and it didn't feel like a "boring" salad at all. It was so good that I already know I'll be coming back specifically for that dish, though I'm also curious to try more of the menu next time. Overall, this place absolutely lived up to the recommendation. Great service, strong drinks, and standout food. I'll definitely be back.

The layout feels open and comfortable, and the overall vibe is upbeat without being overwhelming. That said, service on arrival could use some attention. There was a noticeable gap at the host stand with several guests waiting and no staff in sight, which set a slightly off first impression. Once seated, though, the experience improved. Ally at the bar stood out right away. Friendly, attentive, and welcoming, she helped turn the visit around and made the experience feel more personal. She did come back to check in later, which was appreciated and helped round out the service. On the food and drink side, they carry Manhattan Project Beer Company's Half-Life, which is a big win and pairs exceptionally well with the French dip. The sandwich itself is flavorful and satisfying. The fries were a bit on the softer side, so if you prefer them crispy, I'd definitely recommend asking for them extra crispy when ordering. Overall, Thirsty Lion has a lot going for it. Great atmosphere, solid menu, and standout staff like Ally. With a little more consistency at the front of house, this place easily moves from good to great.

First, you should make a reservation on OpenTable. It is a small coffee shop venue in the Half Price Books so just coming without a reservation would not be advised unless you want to wait a long time or might not be able to be accommodated for a seating. We started with the Tiki Drinks of course. I love a sweet drink so i chose the Banana Alexandra. It is cacao rum and cream and banana. It also comes with a frozen chocolate covered banana. The Six Word Story was suggested as it is less sweet than the hurricane but the Hurricane is very popular. The Six Word was very citrus tasting but not super sweet but very tasty. Next we got the Lumpia. It was very crispy with a fantastic chili sauce. It was so good. Then we got the Bread and Butter because it is a bakery and need their bread. The Honey Butter was awesome and so was the bread. We went with the whole Branzino fish tacos and house made corn tortillas. What a visual treat. You have never seen such a presentation. The tacos were amazing. The crispy fish and sauce and cabbage was amazing. For dessert, we went OFF menu and got the Pistachio Tres Leche Cake with pistachio cream and strawberries. It was so amazing!! Always go off menu is my advice. We then selected some pastries to go and you MUST try the Vietnamese Coffee Brownie!! It didn't last long when i got home. You MUST come eat here it is amazing!!

A low-lit lounge and bar, a space that feels intimate and yet, the music playing from the speakers (not too loud, just there) gives it an expectant energy, too. It's the kind of place you enjoy being because it feels like an experience. I'm going to have a unique, well-made drink tonight in a cool spot. The cocktail menu seems like it's updated every season or so, the bartenders/creators' names featured on the cover. Very cool. Will definitely be back.

We went for dinner on a Friday to enjoy the gorgeous Dallas weather, sitting on the patio. Service was perfect as usual, seldom a problem with service. I had my usual La Carolina straight up while the wife tried something new, some kind of sweet drink with coconut milk and lime. I don't know the name but she loved it. The kid had Topochico ($6 for bottle, ouch!) The kid had the small guacamole and it is a generous portion with very good quality avocado and a slice on top. There is a small side of roasted poblano pepper that is quite spicy but delicious. I "stole" it from the kid and put on my tacos. Perfect. I had my favorite "Old Fashioned" tacos with flour tortillas and loved them. You two to an order for $17 plus red rice and Cole slaw. It's more than enough food. The ground beef is seasoned perfectly and I love it. I wish I knew what spices they put in that beef so I could make it at home. The wife tried the tacos al pastor with adobo chicken and fresh pineapple. She loved it. The chicken was tender and not dried out. The flavor combo was perfect. Overall, really a perfect meal. Great weather, great ambiance, great service, and great food. Can't wait to return,

Sometimes you order guacamole somewhere for $8 and they bring you what looks like the amount in one avocado. I really liked the layout of the restaurant and the design. Good atmosphere too.

Amazing coffee spot in a cool Walnut Hill complex…read more I like the vibe here and their coffee is always on point. I've only been during the day and always spend a little time working before a coffee meeting. The WiFi is always good and the coffee is great. The ambiance is very open and inviting as well. They serve small bites as well but I haven't really partaken. Additionally, I think they have several beers on tap and they appear to all be cool local brews. If you're looking for a good local coffee shop with a vibe, this may be your new spot!!

This coffee shop has quietly become my Dallas work-week crush…read more It's conveniently close to the office I'm using while I'm here, but the real draw is the vibe. Beautiful sunshine pours through big windows, there's a lovely park right outside, and the light is so good it feels like the café equivalent of a good hair day. Dallas weather helps, obviously--but this place knows how to use it. The space is lively without being chaotic. Plenty of outdoor seating, lots of indoor seating, and a very reasonable three-hour Wi-Fi window that keeps people working instead of camping. It feels intentional. People come here to stay, not hover in line. Speaking of which--there's never a line. They're clearly well staffed, everyone's efficient, and everyone is genuinely nice. Now, pastries. This is where they shine. A lot of unique options you don't see everywhere, and everything I tried was excellent. The almond croissant? Fantastic. The blueberry cake? A must-get. I went two days in a row (because obviously), and on day one they told me it was their most popular item. Day two, by 11 a.m., it was completely gone and kept selling out as soon as they tried to restock. That alone tells you what you need to know. The matcha is good--made from scratch, which I appreciate. Is it the best matcha I've ever had? No. It's better than Local Johnny's, but not quite on the level of Marin Coffee Roasters or Ralph & Rose. Still very drinkable and enjoyable, especially if you're settling in to work. What really sets this place apart is its personality. It doesn't feel like a cookie-cutter café or "insert minimalist coffee brand here." There's charm. Character. A little whiteboard with a joke about New Year's resolutions that made me smile. Small details, but they matter. Would I come back? Absolutely. I already did--twice. I'd recommend it especially for locals looking for a solid work spot, co-working with a friend, or anyone who wants to be productive without being bothered. If you're visiting Dallas briefly, this might not be a destination café--but if you're here for a bit and want a reliable, pleasant, sunny place to work and snack, this one's a yes.
