    Mexican Scramble
    Marianne C.

Went here for brunch with some friends. We all lived nowhere near this spot but somehow ended here. They have regular American and Mexican breakfast/lunch option. I opted for their Mexican scramble which came a choice of tortillas or toast then topped with slices of avocado. It was flavorful and very well could make two decent dice breakfast burrito. Service was efficient, and fast. Our food came out pipping hot and fresh looking. The space shared a room from a banquet hall which I think they rent for bigger events. The two rooms can be combined or split with a barn like sliding door in the middle of a big space. This place is an option for brunch if you are in the area.

Went for pancakes, left beyond satisfied. JJ's is very spacious and has some very delicious food. No wait time, menu very straightforward I can see myself going here a lot for a quick breakfast.

The wait time for two people on a Sunday was ~20min. We were sat at 12:55 and left the restaurant at 2:11. We felt the food took a while to come out, and so did the check once we asked to pay. I ordered the caramel macchiato which was basically diabetes in a cup. I couldn't drink even half of it. My boyfriend had asked for water as a refill and was brought back another horchata which was not free and not communicated. The food was ok. I ordered the red chilaquiles with birria. The meat portion wasn't enough, and the sauce was not a level 3 spice. Seemed more like a level 1 to me. My boyfriend got the chicken and waffles, which were not flavordu We shared a plate of the tres leches pancakes, but they were a bit dry. No syrup was provided and frankly, we didn't want to wait another 5min for them to bring that by. I wouldn't come back in all honesty. I was extremely disappointed to have paid $61 for an experience that felt inconvenient.

Came here on Mother's Day so they were busy but we made reservations and waited maybe 20 minutes to be seated. The staff were nice and checked up on us. Our food came out warm/cooled down but the waffle n chicken was good still. The tres leches pancake was the highlight!!

This place was busy early! We got there around 8:30am on Sunday. It was very roomy. I enjoyed the attentive service. I would not get the chorizo and egg again, just wasn't flavorful. The beans were very good! And the potatoes obrian was more onions & bell pepper than potatoes. The chicken& waffles were AMAZING! we really enjoyed the waffles. Also got a side of bacon & eggs, sooo delicious

This place never misses! Our go to, exceptionally delicious, every time breakfast spot. Be prepared for crowds on the weekends, but the food is always well worth the wait.

Drove the 30+ minutes specifically for their menudo. Possibly best I've ever had. Tipico's is a close second in taste but wins out in both distance (from me) as well as offering menudo daily, not just Saturday and Sunday. But if you're near JJ's, then by all means go! Big place. Busy. Decent service. Extensive menu with a good variety!

First up, the pirogies--holy moly, these little pockets of joy were just unreal. Perfectly soft, stuffed to the brim, and fried up just right. I'm pretty sure if my tasted these, she'd give a polite nod and say, "Not bad, eh?" Then came the pot roast poutine, and let me tell ya--this isn't just food, it's a life experience. You've got those crispy fries, squeaky cheese curds (as they should be, eh!), and gravy so rich it could probably pay rent in Toronto. And then--BAM--tender pot roast on top. I nearly stood up and sang "O Canada," no joke. Now the Canadian Eggs Benedict? Ohhh, beauty. The peameal bacon was thick, juicy, and cooked just right, sittin' pretty under those poached eggs with hollandaise sauce that was smoother than a fresh sheet of ice. Absolute perfection, eh. And don't even get me started on the everyday breakfast. Classic, hearty, and no funny business--just how we like it. Eggs done right, toast that actually tastes like toast (imagine that!), and portions big enough to fuel ya through a full day of shovelin' snow... or, you know, strolling around Dallas. All in all, Maple Leaf Diner absolutely crushed it. Let me tell ya, the service was so fast and smooth, I thought I was dreaming eh. Great food, friendly vibes, and enough Canadian charm to make ya wanna say "sorry" when someone else bumps into you. 10/10, would recommend--now pass the syrup, eh?

Loved the music. Located across from SMU. You have the college crowd, residents from the neighborhood, grandparents with their grandchildren, and drive thru all buzzing with conversation. I found the chicken livers lightly battered, crispy on the outside and very tender meat on the inside. Mashed potatoes, gravy, and green beans were my sides. All tasty. Add additional seasonings and pepper sauce if you prefer. Be sure to check out the banana pudding. I requested extra meringue. Dessert was made fresh and tasted great. Pick-up, drive through, or dine in. Side note: Although there is no place for a tip when paying for your order... I always leave a tip on the table or hand it to the ladies working there. Much deserved for their hard work, friendly smiles, and pleasant attitude.

The coffee was excellent, the omelettes were decent, and the kids' pancakes were delicious. The biscuits and toast on the side were also really good. We had the most wonderful waitress, Nancy. She was attentive and spot on with making sure our needs were met. (Mostly with ketchup). They don't have bottles of ketchup because somebody's, rotten, unsupervised kid filled a ketchup bottle with crayons. UGH. Could have been a lawsuit for this diner. You now have to deal with tiny cups of ketchup for dipping. How sad. Our waitress brought us sauce, Tabasco and Louisiana sauce. Personally, we're a Cholula sauce type of family. Hopefully, they will add this choice to the menu for a table offering. Everything, we ordered to eat was delicious! Hubby had the pork chops which I thought were chicken fried steak. The coating was crisp and perfect for the 2 pork chops. He loved them! Plus the mashed potatoes were 100% real potatoes! The white gravy was great. You can also choose to have brown gravy if you like. One of our kids had catfish. Our fault for not ordering it to be crispy. No biggy, the portions are gracious. Comes with cornbread. I had the burger. You'd think at a diner it would be greasy and gross. However, far from it! The bacon was crisp and the condiments on top the burger were fresh! This place is nothing fancy. Lots of nostalgia. The food is like eating at home. They do offer a senior citizen discount! I'm sure they also offer a military discount, however I did not ask. For being a "hole in the wall" restaurant, off the beaten path, I recommend this place! My family loves these kind of restaurants. No flare, and the food is always so darn good. The wait staff is impressive! The food is satisfying and the nostalgia makes this place worth a visit. March 2025
