We had one hour to escape and it took us 36 minutes to complete it! Our eight-year-old daughter had a blast! Another fun element is the lobby is filled with games from Connect Four to Battleship. I had notified them when booking that we were celebrating my birthday, and they put up a happy birthday background on the screen. Eli even took pictures of us pre-show in the game room. I was extremely touched by Eli and Britney's kindness and their above-and-beyond gestures! Britney presented me with a handwritten birthday card after the game show, and Eli gifted me with a t-shirt I was going to buy after the show. I hope they both know how special they made me feel; it truly warms my heart to have experienced their thoughtfulness, generosity, and kindness! I am FOREVER GRATEFUL and APPRECIATE ALL THAT THEY'VE DONE!! Now for the details: The game is an hour long, and if someone else books the same time slot, you may end up playing with random strangers, which we did. We definitely got our butts handed to us, but I still had fun! It consists of about 5-7 different randomized games. It's blue vs. red team, and the setup is in the style of a traditional TV game show, ranging from Jeopardy-style format to Wheel of Fortune, trivia, Family Feud, and Idiotest, etc. You really do feel like you're on a TV game show with a live host, buzzers, a big wheel to spin, and confetti exploding at the end! They do have some physical games; however, we had to forego those to be fair to the other team, which had a teammate on crutches. Britney was a lot of fun--super patient and considerate! I got a kick out of having to fill out the scantron with a big a#$ pencil. Make sure to arrive 15 minutes prior to your time slot. They have plenty of free games to play while you wait, and they have a bar to purchase beverages or you can ask for tap water. The Escape Game is also located in the building, and they have merchandise for sale, as well as merch for the Great Big Game Show. They have really cool shirts and hats available! At the end of the show, they offer 15 or 20% off your next booking. I'm not sure if there's an expiration date, but I hope not because I would love to come back. However, we live in VA Beach, so it's quite a drive. They do have restrooms. Parking is available in various parking garages among Georgetown. We paid to park in the lot next to RIMTANG which is really close.

This takes you through several different fun games that you can play in a box like area with your friends and everything is given identifying wristbands so the game knows who is who. Wear comfy shoes because you will be running around during these games and since you are likely to get slashed with paint if slimed at the end then also wear comfy clothes that you may not mind getting a little paint on. All of the staff were great and pleasant. Very helpful in explaining the games of anyone was confused or anything like that. The only downfall is that maybe the AC was broken in the main area because it was hot inside and with running around- it made us even hotter.

When I asked who the forms were up on the screen they said oh thats a different team and then had to get the correct forms up for us. The lockers were super difficult to figure out and had to have another team member come over and help. The games were challenging not because of the puzzles but because of the technology used. in one of the games you had to put your wrist band up to the scanner but the scanner didn't work causing us to lose more time. The last problem was that the haz mat suits did not work on keeping the liquid out. I was completely soaked from the waist down. I'm not even sure how that was possible. I will pass on this experience in the future unless someone truly wants to go and I can be assured that the games have been fixed and updated.

We arrived a little late, but the staff (Gawon) was friendly and helpful. There were other people in the waiting room that were a little noisy, which made it hard to hear all the instructions, making things a little difficult. Once we got into our game (The Agency), we were very impressed with the props, design, and decor. It was very well thought out, and in good shape. Great game! If I'm back in town, would love to play another game.

I wish I was told by the person that if I came in-person, I'd need to be there 5 minutes early or else the system wouldn't let us get tickets. Ended up doing the room. I liked our cluemaster and the person assisting. The theming is on-point, but I wish there was more to do simultaneously in the room. There were two contraptions that didn't, with one even having the clue master come in to fix it. I enjoyed it, but it was pretty average compared to other rooms I've done!

As a four-person group, we decided to take on Poe's Chambers. The theming of this room is immaculate! Just the door to the room evokes the early 19 hundreds. Poe's Chambers really makes you feel like you're in the creative poet's home. I loved the overall feel! My fiancé and I were able to get the group through some of the puzzles, just due to our vast experience with rooms. I believe even our first-timer friends were able to see how we were making the connections and able to get their brains going too! I felt like we all really handled the room well and that it was friendly to them. There is one puzzle in particular I think E.R.A. needs to update. If it doesn't sit just so, it's easy to miss the clue. Though, everything else in the room worked flawlessly. Our game master was very attentive when we asked for two clues, though it took us a bit to decode her hints. We got out with 7 minutes to spare. I can see why this room would be an 8/10 difficulty. It's a fairly linear room, which I prefer when it comes to games. I've done rooms that feel scattered and those frustrate me to no end, lol. I do think a group of beginners might struggle, just a bit, in this room. Truly though, great room! I hope we'll get to go back again! 8/10 recommend

We had the BEST time at Insomnia Escape Room DC for my son's 16th birthday! It was my first-ever…read moreescape room, and my son--who's done a few before--said this was hands down his favorite so far. We chose the Mafia room, and from the moment we stepped in, we were transported to the Prohibition era. The atmosphere, the design--everything felt like stepping into a vintage crime thriller. The puzzles were super engaging--challenging enough to keep us on our toes, but perfectly balanced for the time limit. I especially appreciated that each room is a private experience, so it was just our group working together, which made it even more special. Martina, our host, was incredible--welcoming, professional, and gave just the right hint when we were stuck without taking away the thrill. We cracked the final clue with five minutes to spare and left feeling exhilarated! The location is a hidden gem--tucked in a quiet, walkable corner of Glover Park, close to restaurants and shops, and very easy to get to. We're already planning our return--my son can't wait to try another room with his sister and friends! The Patient room is next on our list!
