So, this was my first time coming here. My family and I thought it would be a nice little place to try. I wish we didn't. IF YOU WANT ISLAND FOOD GO TO BAHAMA BREEZE. PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF FROM A REAL HEADACHE! First you walk in and are overwhelmed by blasting music; so loud that you have to do sign language at the table with who you came with. Next you are met with a menu telling you that you have to pay 20% gratuity AUTOMATICALLY for a party of 4 or more. Then told by your waiter you get no refills on drinks and no substitutes for your sides. IF YOU MANAGE TO BE ABLE TO WAIT OVER AN HR OR MORE, then you get to see the food they bring out all nice. The catch is you may be missing some bacon on your burger or even uncooked mystery meat that is NOT beef. If you get pasta, remember to take the tails off. This should be fairly easy to find bc there are only 4 hidden inside your over cooked pasta and rubber chicken. Don't complain just pay 100+ for nothing. And no that's not a lot for GA but I will gladly spend 200+ for great service. Which you WILL NOT get here. read more

I have to say the first time I went to the restaurant I wasn't impressed but I'm for giving people a second chance and I'm glad I did. The second time I went back I had their Red Snapper. OMG! DELICIOUS It was spicy but not too spicy you couldn't enjoy it. The skin had delicate crunch while the fish was light and flaky. I poured some of the juice onto my rice and peas and that's all she wrote. Just be careful of the tiny bones. Other than that I Highly Recommend this dish. read more

I had a really good experience at Escovitchez. When I walked in, I was greeted immediately and asked if I was dining in. I was ordering to go so the bartender took my order. I ordered the jerk burger and fries. The burger was cooked to order and the burger and fries came out piping hot. The bartender wanted to ensure my order was correct so he made sure I looked in the bag before leaving the restaurant. All staff were super nice and the burger was delicious. Highly recommend. I've visited several times and had great experiences. Unfortunately this last time I ordered oxtails and they were cold.

The wait was so long that another waitress assigned somewhere else came over to us and asked had we put in our order yet because she's seen us waiting for a while, and she took our order. 1 hour and 15 min later our food came. The food was really bad but that's another story. As we sat there twiddling our thumbs waiting for our dinner to arrive for a whole 1 hour 15 min, a woman we believe to be the owner/owners wife with a short haircut stood right next to us and never once asked us how we were doing or if our order was in but went out her way and asked the tables to the right and left of us if everything was ok and even gave them updates on their food. It was clear that we were not welcomed here. Never got a refill on water, apart from the initial drink we ordered when we sat, never once able to place another drink order because no one attended to us. Skipped out on desert completely and had them remove that from our order because the wait was son long. Of course when the bill came it was on there and they had to remove it. At the end when we asked for our to go boxes, it came with a long peice of hair on it as if it could get any worse. Would NEVER go back. We ordered dinner to go. This was our first time visiting the restaurant. The decor is very nice and the employees are friendly. We placed our order over the phone, and it was ready to go when we arrived. We had to pay over the phone which was unexpected but not a problem. The jerk burger and fries were amazing. It comes with a sunny side up egg. We requested the egg be fried but that was not an option so we went with no egg at all. The jerk chicken plate was good, but I expected more. Great ambiance. The food might have been ok but it was so incredibly hot that we couldn't eat half of it. The chef was walking around and we told him that it was too hot to eat. He said "you knew this was a Jamaican place, you should have expected it to be hot" WHAAAAATT????? We told him that we are originally from New Orleans, I'm 100% used to spicy food. This food burned the inside of my mouth, where I lost feeling and couldn't taste anything afterwards. He said "that's probably the scotch bonnet peppers, but that's normal in Jamaican food". I've been to Jamaica and was able to their food without injury so I don't think it's normal there. It's certainly not normal in Gwinnett county, Georgia. We finally decided to try this place. It survived COVID so we figured it had to be good. They have a nice island vibe inside with music (although they could turn it down a touch but wasn't so loud that you can't have a conversation) and decor. Our server, Jamea, was warm and friendly. Actually, all of the employees were friendly and welcoming. We ordered a variety of dishes: Curried Goat, Oxtails, Jerk Chicken, Fried Cauliflower, Plantain Nachos. All were good IMO. The oxtails and the goat were very tender! And all portions were plentiful. My only complaint is the rice and peas were extremely dry! Service was timely for our party of two tables and nine people. My family and I had reservations at Escovitchz for 7:00 p.m. on Father's Day. We made sure we arrived 10 minutes early knowing there might be a slight wait to be seated. WELL!! After waiting for an hour, with a 7:00 o'clock reservation, mind you, we were never seated. After that wait, and actually looking at the table we were waiting to be seated at, it was brought to our attention that the OWNER and family members had been sitting there for several hours. Who does that? Is that how one conducts a successful business? Well here's a tip. NO!!! Shouldn't your customers and patrons be considered? Aren't you in business to make money? This experience left me somewhat baffled. Why would the proprietor of a business set it up for failure? With such disregard and did disrespect for patrons it would appear that's the end goal. This would have been my fourth visit to this place, but this was my last. From my party of five, this could have potentially been $250-$300 when it was all said and done. Oh! I guess that was a drop in the bucket and my change didn't matter. Remember, pennies add up to dollars. The hostess deserves a medal. Came here on Sunday for the first time and enjoyed it. The rice and peas was incredible. Well flavored and soft and fresh. I also tasted the jerk chicken which was great as well. I ordered the snapper with escovitch sauce on the side so I could really get the flavor of the fish. The fish was fried well and was good, less flavor than I'm used to, but still good. This meal was exquisite and a real taste of Caribbean. The lamb was extremely tender and the sauce was a Jamaican twist on steak sauce! And the Escrovitchez lobster was beyond delightful. The jerk chicken was good , however , you cannot charge 19.00 for 1.5 small pieces that have been cut into four small nuggets . I specifically asked the waiter about the portion size and he assured me I would get several pieces, I thought I would get atleast 3 decent size pieces. Visited this restaurant because of the reviews and I'm so glad I did! The food and drinks were Sooooo Good!! My husband and I wanted brunch, that was in the area and we found this gem. I had the French Toast and the syrup contained alcohol, such a delight! Definitely not for kids lol! I added a scramble egg with cheese and the eggs tasted very fresh. My husband opted for the Jerk chicken with peas and rice.. it came with sweet plantains, broccoli and carrots. He loved it. He did mention that he wish his rice had a little side of sauce. His chicken was very tender and cooked well. The jerk chicken sauce had the perfect amount of "heat" kick to it. We also had the $5.00 Mango mimosas. There are other flavors as well. It was a perfect blend and we definitely felt a little buzz so they made it perfectly lol! The manager Jahbari i think his name was, took our orders and was very friendly and informative. The waitress Bia? (Sorry I'm bad with names! Lol) I asked her what she recommended and after going through the menu, she just knew exactly what I wanted. She was super friendly. The Chef came out after we ate and chopped it up with all the guest including us. That was a great personal touch! The only hick up was that they were out of menus so my husband and I shared one. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the waitress wasn't aware of the drink I was asking for which I found on the bar myself....the food took a little over 40 minutes to come out (which is why I had time to examine the bar to find my drink.lol) ...and the only thing on at the bar was the depressing news on both TVs . I would have liked to see a little ESPN or something entertaining to watch without the sound like "Ridiculousness" or something while enjoying a nice delicious dish. I will definitely be back.
