This is a beautiful restaurant and the food is delicious. I've been twice now and both times I requested to sit outside because the music is ridiculously loud. I guess they don't want you to be able to talk at dinner. The service was excellent. Our server was attentive. I had a shrimp escovitchez pasta. It was an ample serving with large shrimp. My dinner mate had lobster, which came with rice and plantains. We also shared the jerk fried rice, would have been better with some kind of gravy. Everything overall was delicious. read more

(To put it short we are a gay male couple) I really tried my best to look past the "making it seem as though we where invisible" , but I can't hence forth this review. This was a very interesting experience because I've been to the restaurant before but my experience was amazing; this is what led me to think about how invisible I felt this time when I decided to bring my boyfriend. I loved the food ; it was really good and I am going to still recommend the restaurant to friends and family, however I was disappointed in the lack of urgency to our order and again how invisible we felt being placed in the very back of the restaurant where we didn't get help until 35 mins . A very nice lady finally came to take our order and was confused on how long we have waited (she shook her head in disbelief) She made us feel so much more comfortable and I really started to love the experience towards the end because she was so nice and respectful. I really like this place. Tonight was my sisters 50th birthday so we all decided to go here. I had been here a few times before and the one thing that's consistent about this restaurant is the fact that their food is delicious. As with a lot of restaurants it's difficult to find workers. The lady working the bar was the bartender, hostess and helped with to go orders. We were a fairly large party and we were seated. Trained management is needed. The staff comes off rude. Learn to say 'hello', 'thank you' and watch your tone. We celebrated my husbands birthday at Escovitchez and enjoyed it. He is an executive Chef and had been wanting to try this restaurant for awhile. We had the cauliflower for appetizer and my husband had the trio for dinner which he thoroughly enjoyed his only complaint was that the rice and beans were dry but he asked our waitress for the curry sauce from the goat and instantly the rice was perfect. This is my second time here and while my first experience here was much more tasty, I still have good to say about the restaurant. The first time I came was on a Sunday and while it took a while to bring our food out, the service was nice and the bread kept us filled in the mean time. We were able to sit outside and the ambiance was very pleasant. I ordered the Escovitchez Island Pasta and some jerk Mac & cheese and from there I was sold on the restaurant. The pasta was so amazing that my friend started eating from mine. The serving portion is amazing and I got to take it home to eat for lunch the next day as well. The jerk pasta was really good the first day as well! Ok, so I just went yesterday for the second time and firstly, I had a party of 5 and the manager wouldn't seat us until all 5 of us were there, even though 4 of us were present which is really annoying especially as the restaurant wasn't packed, but rules are rules, I guess. We were seated inside although we did prefer outside but again, rules are rules for our party size. The waitress was really patient with us as everyone in my party was there for the first time and took a while to know what they want. But beware of putting in your order late because they do cook the food fresh, and it can take long, so I'd suggest maybe studying the menu before you get there. I got the jerk chicken this time and jerk Mac& cheese again. Definitely not their best item on the menu. The chicken was a bit dry and not too "jerky" and they bring a side of barbecue sauce instead of jerk sauce. Also, this time around, the jerk mac&cheese didn't hit the way it did the first time. Because of how dry my food was, I had my friend pour some of her oxtail stew into mine. It wasn't horrible but definitely not the jerk I'm used to (or any cultural person for that matter). I'm rating it a 4 as an average of my first experience here(which was a 5) and my most recent experience(which was about a 3.5). Definitely go here! Amazing service and beyond amazing food! My daughter and I went looking for somewhere different to eat after our shopathon at Webb Ginn and Escovitchez popped up on our radar. It was around 2:00pm on a Saturday so not too crowded. We were greeted as we entered and given a menu displaying a variety of options for their brunch. The prices are on the higher end but this is definitely a more upscale Caribbean restaurant and worth every penny! Our server was Jodi and she was a sweetheart and provided outstanding customer service! My daughter ordered the shrimp mac n cheese and OMG, it was EVERYTHING! This was hands down the best shrimp mac n cheese that I've had in my 29 years of living lol. You can taste the seasoning in the macaroni as well as in the grilled shrimp and needless to say, my daughter was in hog heaven and I ended up ordering one to go. It's served in a cast iron skillet which keeps it nice and warm to create a more enjoyable experience. It was a cheesy seasoned heavenly meal! The braised oxtail was just as good, with the rice and peas, veggies and plantains. I eat Caribbean food at least 3 times per week and oxtails are one of my favorite dishes. Escovitchez has the most unique presentation that I've ever seen w/ the oxtail situated on some type of edible pastry that was quite delicious with the oxtail gravy lol. They aren't the typical fall off the bone, these oxtails whe very tender but still in tact. The seasoning was very tasty and overall a very fulfilling meal. While awaiting our entrees our mouths started watering when we smelled the chef preparing the combination of grilled peppers, onions and seasonings for our wings. Once they arrived we were pleasantly surprised that they tasted just as phenomenal as they smelled! Overall I rate Escovitchez 5 stars and would highly recommend to anyone that loves authentic mouth watering Caribbean food, with a side of great ambiance and excellent customer service. I've been to escovitchez countless times from dining in to ordering to go. My visit a week ago tainted my view of this place. My friend called for a reservation for 7 people. She was instructed to make the reservation online and told that since the max online was 6- she would need to make two reservations. She did as she was instructed. On the day of the reservation she received a text confirming the party of 7 for 9pm and a phone call as well. We get there - before 9 and there's confusion. One VERY passively rude lady proceeds to tell us no table is available because they do not accept parties over 6. We explained that we were told to make two reservations, mentioned the gentleman who verbally confirmed over the phone , and showed her the text confirmation and she proceeded to say the same thing that they don't accept reservations over 6 as if it was our fault, as if we did not follow instructions instructed by the restaurant staff themselves. So she says we have to wait until they can make a seating arrangement to accommodate us. At this point we figured we might as well bc it was convenient. We were all there and did not feel like driving far out to find a restaurant open late . Finally at 9:36 we were seated- restaurant closes at 10pm. Our server informs us to quickly place our orders- meal and drinks because kitchen and bar closes at 10pm....this was another ding. We do as we were instructed as far as making the reservation then we wait over 45 mins bc we arrived early- and then we are told we have to make rush drink and meal choices. She was kind- just doing her job and informing us but still- the inconvenience was major and just a turn off. We made some fuss about it and she came back and said they would keep the bar open till 10:30- okay fair enough but by then I believe we were just over it all that none of us even bothered to order anything else to drink. Now onto the food. That night several of the dishes seemed to be a bit salty starting with the red peas soup. Flavor was there just a little too much. We also had the cauliflower which was pretty good but slightly too hard. My friend got Rasta pasta and although it was good it also had a Tbs too much of salt. I got the taste of Jamaica and the curry goat was great but the oxtail had way too much browning, the jerk chicken was dry, and you could directly taste the salt in the rice. To finish we got the bread pudding the strawberry icing or glaze- whomever it may be - was just way to sweet. It took away from the taste of the actual bread pudding. All in all- this experience just left a bad taste in my mouth. The initial customer service was awful and there was minimal rectification. . DO NOT Book here if you have a party over 6 to avoid dealing with what we had to deal with and the unprofessionalism of the hostess or whatever the lady was. read more
