I'm sure the coffee is good. But If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Make sure to review the menu and know what you want immediately before ordering. The staff will treat you like an idiot and like an inconvenience if you have any types of questions. Went in today to purchase coffee beans and when it was my turn to order the barista had already approached me with attitude and expressions like she was so miserable/did not want to be there. I then asked about options for beans and instead of using her voice and telling me what they had to offer she instead got upset and pointed at the bags and menus like I did not already notice that. Let's not forget you work in customer service and I'm sure part of your job is to talk to customers and at least treat them with some type of respect. read more

1/5/23: First Vivace visit of the new year and it did not disappoint. House was packed but not overly loud at 10am and no line at the counter (they have two to help move things along). They had a full case of sweet and savory pastries too. You can pick anything from the case, you can't go wrong. I'd suggest the Morning Roll. It's not overly sweet, pull apart goodness that is something like the love child of a cinnamon roll meets croissant. Had a White Velvet (white mocha). I saw they had fresh oranges for zesting next to the barista and I asked if it would go good with my drink and the barista suggested lemon instead. It zinged just right! I'm hooked. It added just the right amount of floral citrus scent and a hint of flavor to my cup. It elevated the mocha in such a simple way. Absolutely loving this drink. Take the time to hang out. Yummy yummy latte! First time here and the line builds up quickly behind you. Baristas weren't the most talkative or helpful with providing recommendations but I feel like it's like that anywhere you go so I wasn't expecting much, but a "hello how are you" would've been nice. Great spot to come and study or if you work remotely. They had a lot of seats to choose from, which I thought was great! Going here Pre-Covid times is very different from post-covid, especially with no dine in seating where I used to take advantage of the multitude seating options. One thing that made this cafe unique was the silent room in the back to really churn out work. Nonetheless even without dine in opportunities, just on coffee alone, vivace has maintained its quality and timely service. My go to is the white velvet but as the years pass by, the more I ask for it to be less sweet. It's great to grab in the summer mornings as it's very balanced and just overall refreshing! Best espresso in Seattle hands down and perhaps the country. I've been to the South Lake Union location as well and both locations provide excellent service and provide the same amazing espresso. My go to drinks are the flat white and their iced oat latte. Their freshly roasted beans are great as well! Just by simply using their beans, I've been able to significantly improve the espresso I make at home. However, I'm still no match for the expert baristas that work here. I buy a fresh bag of beans every weekend and keep making little adjustments to my daily espresso shots in the hopes of getting closer to Vivace perfection. Btw, the baristas are top notch. The drinks are not only excellent, but also consistent - no matter which barista is making your drink or the location you go to. This speaks volume about the quality and skill of the people they hire as well as their training and the management of the organization. read more

A fun, neighborhood joint -- I love the teas and pastries here, and the staff is always really nice and efficient to keep the long lines moving. It's a really nice workspace, and you can almost always expect to find people here with their laptops or a book. When the weather's nice, they have outdoor patio tables. On this raining morning, I trekked long and uphill to visit this famed roaster for the first time. As I walked, I anticipated a strong, hot, and satisfying cup that reward this effort. I got a triple Americano brewed with their Dolce beans that I also bought a 12-oz bag. The bag was clear plastic with roast date in big print and obviously sealed. I was really expected something that will block sunlight and pack a big tighter. The coffee is flavorful but probably a bit too medium bodied than I expected. It was not bad coffee at all, but there are closer places that brew better ones. I will try the beans at home, knowing home brewing yields different results. For fresh coffees, I will come back if I happen to be in the neighborhood, but not trekking a mile up-hill in the rain. read more

This was the most outstanding mocha I've ever had and I'm not exaggerating. Absolutely perfect in very way. Service was great, place is a little messy but they're busy as heck so I forgive them that. Dis espresso is so pleasant. The dulce was sweet and full of body. Something surprising is that the shot is really just one shot, compared to most places that do standard doubles. Baristas are friendly! More than willing to answer questions but I think they were a little foggy about the origins of the coffee when I tried to buy the beans. Squash bread was moist and good! Never have I been yelled at by a barista before. I came in today to get an espresso after one of the ladies went all the way to the other cashier. I took a quick peek at the case of pastries and whomever was serving coffee that day was having a really tough time and appeared to take it out on me. He yelled so loud that the entire cafe could hear, "You need to step back in line because he was before you and let the natural progression of the line could move." He yelled and it was an aggressive tone I hav never been subjected to ever in my life. I don't know what your problem is but you never ever tell at a customer. I live on the east side but travel to this place in cap hill often because they really do make the best Cortados! It reminds me of Italy or Spain. The staff is also always friendly and know locals by name. They make the prettiest coffee art even in my tiny espresso cup. Really enjoyed it, was soft on the inside. Their hot chocolate is also amazing! It was rich, without being too thick. I couldn't place what flavor they put in it, but it was so good!
