Seriously one of THE WORST CAPPUCCINO'S I have ever had!!! Despicable really. It had zero coffee flavor or taste. Was like an extremely milky latte. Everyone behind counter has a snobby attitude. This was nothing close to an italian cappuccino. I literally could not drink it. The snobby older woman was rolling her eyes at me, when i asked for an almond croissant, than i saw the shrunken size literally maybe 2 bites and possibly 3 inches long ~ i said no i dont want the croissant, hence the scowl and rolling her eyes??? Really, whoever baked shrunk the croissant! Or maybe they reduced dough size to make more money? Everything that once was i this place is now NOT. Go to Cafe Umbria!! Iced Vanilla Latte (3/5): I ordered my classic drink but it was definitely on the sweeter side of lattes for me. It was too sweet for me to drink. I had to water it down and let the ice melt. I couldn't really taste the coffee because there was so much syrup in the coffee. Service (4/5): The service was quick. The staff was nice. The barista wasn't wearing a mask but I did appreciate that she used tongs to grab the straw and put it in my drink rather than using her hands. Having returned to Seattle after a 2-year hiatus I was looking for some of that signature but yet individualist cappuccinos that are created in this trendy city. Due to the Covid19 crisis, many of the places I reviewed in the past are no longer here such as Kaladi in central Capitol Hill. Now for the great news! Cafe Vivace is a great place. It does follow the social separation rules and has the space to do it well both inside and out. This location is in Capitol Hill, East Seattle, Broadway section. I spent a month in Seattle and was on a mission to find the best coffee in the city. After trying many coffee spots mentioned on lists of the best coffee shops in Seattle, this was by far my favorite and I ended up going back multiple times. My favorite drink was an iced coffee with oat milk and only a very light addition of vanilla, because the coffee speaks for itself and I didn't want to loose its taste. It's a bit more expensive then I'd usually like to spend on a drink, however it's comparable to other local coffee shops and definitely worth it. Plus, my extra additions of oat milk and flavoring brought up the price, therefore it was, in part, my doing. The shop itself is spacious. There are plenty of tables to sit and get work done or catch up with a friend. The line moves relatively quickly and you talk directly to the barista making your drink, therefore each drink is tailored specifically to you. Their pastries are also delicious and quite big. Overall, this place is a 10/10 and a must-try when in Seattle. read more

The best Carmel macchiato in town 10/10! I'm not a big coffee drinker, therefore I love how the coffee is not overbearing, and how smooth it is. It also has the perfect ratio of sweetness! I had a rude encounter with a man working when I ordered a Carmel macchiato he Interrupted me rudely and said "no we don't have that we have a cafe Carmel. Vivace pulls good lattes. Uses premium beans. My oat milk mocha was perfection. They have Seawolf Bakery croissants. Lines can get confusing but just listen to the workers for directions. My brother in law recommended this place when we were in town, as my partner is a huge coffee fan and I need it to function I suuuper respect that they don't have seating inside right now, though there is minimal seating outside. Fast forward months later and they're on the D+ Jeff Goldblum show! I got a latte that wasn't anything mind blowing, but whatever my partner got (espresso cup and seltzer for after, but that's all I know) was apparently incredible. I've been going here for 26 years. Gone through the training with David the owner. Most of the time the coffee is good. However through the years it's not consistent and you can not dare make a complaint. Since Brian the main manager past away nothing had been the same. Brian was a light to the world, with a fairness and love that is missed by all. I muss you old friend and our walks. Since then the turn over is a lot higher, employees have complained a lot to customers. Recently I heard Lisa who's been with the company for 30 years lost here managers position and left the company. It's the sadness thing to see since Brian past. Lisa and Teal were the ones left that really made the place extra special. Teal is one of the greats. Vivace use to be for sure the best coffee anywhere in the states, now it shares the title with dozens of other coffee roasters. I understand that change happens, but the change for this company is a very sad thing. The loss of some of the greatest at Vivace is like loosing a piece of your youth and when community was family. Lisa will be missed by hundreds with her smile, upbeat attitude, her Acceptance of all people, helped make Capital hill extra special for 30 years. Now wouldn't you think a city like Seattle would be brimming with late-night bohemian coffeehouses spotlighting skinny girls playing Joni Mitchell while they pick the dandruff off their stringy hair? Especially in a neighborhood as hip and happening as Capitol Hill, but come 9PM, there isn't much selection for a late-evening caffeine fix. Thank goodness they make a good brew in this spacious coffee hangout for dedicated lap-topper and motor-mouthed small-talker alike. There are plenty of tables and even a private room should you need to plug into their WiFi in relative peace. Jamie W. and I came here twice during our recent visit to Seattle because there wasn't much near our Holiday Inn other than staring at the revolving pink neon sign of the Elephant Car Wash. Why, we even shared a fresh donut to nosh, and the barista makes one smooth, velvety Latte Soy that'll keep you up at night. It has a nice, warm vibe that is hard to resist after one too many pupusas at Guanaco's. COFFEE - 4 stars...those Lattes Soy hit the spot, but why do they reverse the words like that? Why is your web ordering so horrible ? I just spent 20 minutes trying to order coffee. I was trying on my iphone then remembered its a company owned by a former MS employer. Then I switched to a desktop and it was not better. This has happened in the past. I give up and call then and the person answering the phone is rude and says I HAVE to order from the website. The staff here are super friendly and accommodating to help you get what you want. I got an Iced Latte with Vanilla and Oat Milk. It is phenomenal, I wish I got the 16oz! My friend got the Iced Caffe Caramel extra sweet and it was exactly to her liking as she likes super sweet drinks. The drinks here are pretty perfectly sweet but make sure to tell the baristas if you want it adjusted. plenty of seating here if you want to study or meet up with friends but the seating can fill up. I really like Espresso Vivace and have been coming for years. But the fact that they charge $1.25 for alternative milk (most places charge .$75) even for a small 8oz cup is absolutely ridiculous (Yes, David!). I understand the cost is more than whole milk, but this is excessive and you're just taking advantage of folks like me who have serious problems digesting regular milk. So no more tips from me on drinks (you can tip your baristas from the extra money you're making on the alternative milk). read more

Hands-down, this is one of my favorite coffee houses in all of Seattle. Great, friendly baristas, delicious coffee, and meticulous attention to detail (amazing foam art). I love indulging in an afternoon breve here. The foam is made perfectly here for this drink. There is really nothing I can say to add to the awesomeness that is Vivace, but I will comment that I wish there was more seating (which would obviously require a larger space), because every time I visit, it's like a mad dash to find a seat/table. I do like meeting people here for a coffee, because it's always vivacious and full of interesting people. Free wifi is a great perk. Plus, there's free water and a restroom for customers (restroom keys are on the counter). Parking sucks here in Capitol Hill, but making the trek and finding a spot in the residential neighborhood, on the street, or in a nearby parking structure is worth it to try this place. read more

The staff here is so incredibly friendly. We don't normally get the coffee they make or the food they sell but we are huge fans of their Dolce coffee blend. I have to suggest that if you order their whole bean, call. Ahead. They truly do stock it but sometimes you have to confirm their shipment arrived. I hope that they one day sell it in 5LB bags but their staff member last time I was in told me that maybe if you contract their online support they mail sell and mail it in the larger bag sizes. They have definitely found a perfect routine during this time to protect their customers and I am so grateful for the teams commitment. So happy I found this place! The coffee was really quite great, they were efficient but took their time crafting the drink complete with latte art in every cup. The ambiance is great! There is a large open cafe that's bustling or there is a quiet are for reading or studying, which I haven't seen before. As an Amature barista I would strongly recommend this place. Especially if you like espresso drinks! If you're into coffee you'll find this place very traditional to espresso roots of Italy. Their shots are of a triple basket (~20g grounds) ristrettos (~1oz). Very strong but the flavor is well balanced! Their vita house blend is amazing! While they certainly respect the term "ristretto," don't use Apple Pay, as their POS system is a shambles, and will most certainly charge you for something someone else ordered, with no help from the cashiers or baristas, who hate the system (well, except when they give up and give you a free one if it refuses to work at all). Kasey, the manager, will only offer several meters of red tape. Do yourself a favor and walk two more blocks to The French Guys. Instead of snarky service, you'll find a pleasant atmosphere where they'll remember your name after one visit, and if they goof up (even if the goof is just making too many of their wonderful pastries that day) you'll likely get a free croissant instead of a manager disputing what their own cashier noted as the problem. read more
