We went to one place and they had a defined schedule for rides and were all booked. So drove over the Sombrero and were able to get a horse right away. We like Sombrero because horseback riding is "on demand." They don't have a set schedule. You get a horse whenever you are ready. They have great flexibility. Not only can you leave on the guided tour on your schedule, they offer different lengths of time. In July 2026, $50 for 30 minutes, $100 for an hour, and $135 for 2 hours. Cost is per person. There are longer trips too but I did not pay attention to that pricing. The kid and wife did 1 hour and really enjoyed it. Age requirement is 6 and up for a horse. They also have pony rides for kids under 6. The guides tend to be college kids who work for tips so be sure to tip them. Everyone who works here is super nice and friendly. The horses seem to be well cared for and happy. We were very pleased with the experience and undoubtedly will return the next time we are in Estes.

Our guide, Wayne was the best guide I have ever experienced on an adventure tour. He was patient and very safe in telling us what he was doing on the drive. There is a gift shop before you begin and at the top. The ride takes about 7=8 minutes each way. They have continuous one car up and one car down. Each car holds 8-10 people, depending on their weight. They do a good job of keeping groups together. The lines can be long and we waited about 45 minutes to go up and another 25 minutes on the way down. Once at the top, there are hiking trails, some great overlooks, and of course spectacular views. I would say that the views are worth the price. You can buy peanuts to feed the chipmunks, which seemed to be a popular activity. The chipmunks were happy and well fed. The reason for 4 stars is the long wait in line. The views are 5 star but you have to be patient for the payoff.

Our driver and guide Michael was an absolute star, tailoring the trip to our interests. Because we booked a private tour, we got picked up and dropped off directly from our cabin! Michael was super knowledgeable of the park itself, the ecosystems, flora and fauna. He shared lots of stories about historical figures who influenced this area in Colorado. We went to several lakes, waterfalls, and hiked in several different spots. We got to see lots of wildlife - moose, elk, deer, marmot, chipmunks, pikas, and lots of birds! The day trip was a highlight of our time in Estes Park and we're so thankful for the special care Michael showed our family. We had a variety of mobility amongst the members of our group and he was very accommodating to our needs.

We visited Estes Park for the first time during Memorial Day weekend 2026 and decided to schedule a…read moresunrise tour of RMNP since we were unfamiliar with the area. Sarah picked us up at Stonebrook Resort, where we were staying, at 5:10 a.m. Since it was early on Memorial Day, we did not need to pay an entrance fee or schedule timed entry into the park. Sarah took us up to Many Parks Curve and pointed out the numerous peaks in the distance to the northwest while describing various points of interest below. The sun rose quietly in the east, making the entire experience peaceful and beautiful. She drove us as far as Rainbow Curve, where the road was closed, then walked us farther up the road so we could take in additional views. Throughout the trip, Sarah shared local history, explained natural events over the past century that have shaped the park, and answered our many questions. We were also lucky enough to see several bull and cow moose near their calves, bull elk, bighorn rams, and even a Colorado pika. The tour lasted approximately three hours and ended back at our lodging. We highly recommend Sunrise Tours of Rocky Mountain National Park to anyone looking for a quiet, memorable experience of RMNP in all its natural beauty. They also took the time to explain about the terrain, the environment and fun trivia to keep the hike interesting. Having a little fondue and cider at the top of the hike was a neat touch as well.
