This company was called to come do an estimate for a full system install. It took one week to get them to come out for that. The sales rep came out within the expected window of time. He was kind and professional at the time of visit. He said he'd have the proposal emailed to me later that day or first thing the next morning. 3 days later I'm still waiting. Need Freon? Don't use this company! They charge $164.00 a pound! I shopped around and found other companies charging $100 a pound. But this is not even their biggest scam. They came out to service our units and told us that we need an expensive repair - $3600 to replace a compressor. The technician talked a good game and almost had us convinced the sky was falling. But we got a second opinion, and learned there is absolutely nothing wrong with the compressor. It passed all inspections, and only needed Freon. And the best part? It's been working just fine ever since. Thank goodness for honest companies and technicians who don't try to scam or upsale their customers. Estes was available that afternoon so I made the appointment as it was hotter than hell in my home. The service fee was double the price of my usual company. $400 later my air is now working. The Estes technician said he would call me when he arrived at my condo. I was in the bathroom when he called, but I returned the call two minutes later. He said, he had already left my complex to go to the next job ... no message, no notice. When he had to come back, he took his impatience out on me. Maybe that was why he charged me $170/lb. for Freon (I have an older unit). I know the market for this stuff is high right now, and being phased out, but Estes took advantage of my bad situation (this happened in mid July) and raked me over the coals! I've since called other AC companies, and the highest quoted price on Freon was $130/lb. NEVER AGAIN!!! read more

Heating problem with fan not blowing. I give two stars to customer service who expedited the service since the highs this week are 35 degrees. Low rating for the charges. Technician was there less than one hour. Since I had a maintenance agreement the service charge was $59.00. and 15% off parts. The Technician changed the blower capacitor $219.00 less $50 for discount = $169.00. + $59.00 Total bill $228.00 I looked up the part described on the Invoice. The part price listed was $5 to $9. He also changed the filter. Total cost was approx. $20. Labor $208. Not fair. read more

I was complaining more about 1) delay in sending the quote, and the quote not including the refund until after I reminded the estimator guy who had to clear it with someone (the respondent?). The reason was "it was ready, just forgot to send it out". But I think he made a decision that since I wanted another quote, he was going to assume he lost the sale. 2) the tech guy who first came out seemed more interested in referring me to get a new unit and maybe that was a misunderstanding; 3) pressure from the quote guy "gotta act before the 27th" (at least that is what I recall at this time. Maybe he said 24th); 4) after years, there have been two teams from ESTES I really liked, the guys who did the vent for my down-draft stove/oven and the two guys who first diagnosed the problem last year. The guy who replaced the motor last year was not one of the guys who quoted me. He knew nothing about an ordered motor to match the unit, and got something off the truck. I had agreed with the previous two on the price of the "order one to match the system and not one off the truck". This guy seemed a bit intimidating and insisted this was the price, period. I mentioned it at the time to your service people. No one called me back. I'm too busy to chase down your problems. You have the records, you know who these individuals are. 5) The guy who came to diagnose insisted on the $59 dollars before leaving "I can't bill you. I have no choice." He was the same guy who installed the motor last year. I have upped it to two stars because of the memories of the two teams I liked and that the final guy who came out to actually replace the motor. That last guy was very professional, no nonsense and got the job done well and quickly. He reminds me of the guys who I really trusted in the last town I lived in... so relaxed and confident that there was no need to be intimidating nor over-sell things; just state what you can do, for how much, and then let the customer figure it out. It is the company's over-all approach or size that I think might be the problem. I realize there are two sides to each story, and you can look at your records and what you did. Did you record the call where I protested last year about the price vs. which motor I got? I will try to keep an eye on this review but most likely will let ESTES have the last word. I just got my AC/Heat Pump unit installed this morning. I cannot say enough good things about the people and service. Over the past few months, I got a number of widely ranging quotes on my unit replacement because it would likely require a crane. I live in a three story condo building where my heat pump is on the roof. It was a fairly big job from replacing the unit on my roof to replacing the air unit in my closet to adding a digital thermostat. Chase came over a week ago to give me a quote. He spent a good deal of time assessing the situation, listening to my questions/concerns, and giving me a few different options. He was the only salesperson who offered a solution without requiring a crane and assured me that it would be done safely and properly. Since he was able to do it without a crane and offered a discount for me paying for it on the day of installation and not financing it and even offered a one year free maintenance afterwards, I ultimately went with Estes. Added bonus, he was able to schedule the job on a Saturday morning which was ideal for me since I didn't have to take off from work! Chase's quote was not the cheapest I felt it was the most fair and reasonable given the extent of the job, quality of the equipment, and service provided. Personally I would never just pick the cheapest quote for such an important installation. This morning I was a little concerned about the rain and the installation on the roof. Everything turned out great. It took Donald, Tyler, and Mason about 5-6 hours to fully complete the job. They were thorough, professional, and easy to talk to about any questions I had. Yes they take credit cards. This has been by far my best experience with a service provider in my home. Highly recommend these guys!!! read more

He gave me good information and promised a thorough report would be emailed in a few days. It's now 2 weeks later and I'm still waiting on the estimate (which I understand is just not coming). I had 2 new a/c units installed into my old house including 2 new fan units. I was always needing service and after the warranty was over (5 yrs) for less than 6 months, both went bad. Installed new ones, always being pushed for maintenance contract, along with a service call charge, and small repairs again and again - and I mean constantly. I sold the house, the new owners, used Estes one time and switched to another. It was 3 years ago. I called him and he said that he has never needed a service call. I moved to another house, called Estes, who came out and charged me over $900, Two weeks later, quit working, they came out and said "Oh, it's a different problem - another service fees and parts. I have been a client of Estes for at least 15 years. Today Paul and Tyler from their plumbing division came out to move my water heater from inside my basement to my garage. Those guys did not take a break for 9 1/2 hours and now that the heater is in the garage with all of the new fixtures and pipes it looks brand-new and better than ever. Throughout the 9 1/2 hours they were pleasant, professional and informative as they moved through the process. Estes, you are very fortunate to have these guys on your team! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! And this is why: In July 2018 we contacted Estes to replace our Heating and Air Conditioner unit in our home. The sales representative (Sam Rhone) assured us that they will install a brand new system for $9200 so we agreed to have the system replaced. In October 2018 the weather changed so we try to cut on the heat but it did not work. We called Estes out to fix the system and after fours ours we were told that we needed a new zone board and it would cost and additional $1500. I asked him why they didn't install a new zone board in July when they install the new system. Sam said that the zone board from the old system was still working so they did not replace it. I am a disabled veteran on an fixed income and now I have to struggle and pay this company that used old parts on my new system. There is an a lack of integrity and honesty with this company. Horrible! 24 hr service is a joke! Waited for 2 hours for the on-call tech to call me. Called the operator and she said he'll call as soon as he can. I asked if there was a chance he would call me and say he couldn't do it that night and she said yes that was a possibility. I said what is the point of 24 hr service?! Can he do it or not? The worst customer service from a supervisor I have ever had. They made several mistakes after I had a signed contract. They agreed to "make it right and it was their top priority." Instead it took 5 trips, that cost me several hundreds of dollars which they agreed to make some applicable toward a new unit I had planned on installing. When no follow up, I requested a new estimate and the Suoervisor told me they would not be servicing my AC. I do not think this is making it right. read more

I recently posted a negative review and was contacted by the owner to rectify the situation. He was on vacation and VERY concerned about what I'd said. What I said was true, but he handled my issues professionally and I know he will keep his word. I believe he has some housekeeping to do as my biggest issue was I was denied the opportunity to speak with him when I called Estes several times asking for him, as the receptionist has a ton of excuses why he was not available, obviously covering for her associate employees. Our email conversations were genuine and authentic and I truly believe Tommy cares about his business and will do the right thing should he be made aware of some of these situations. I removed my post as I want to be fair and give him and his business the benefit of the doubt as a small business owner myself. Bait and switch pricing. Original price to install a new thermostat $79.95 sounded reasonable, we purchased the item ourselves. By the time the tech was done the price went from $125 (he had to add another wire, sounded reasonable) then the final price was $290 +!!!! What? The tech left a mess, didn't program the thermostat nor did he show us that it worked. (Honestly we just wanted him out of our house) The "manager" I called apologized and said the "person" giving quotes shouldn't have done it. Really? We bought a new Carrier furnace from Estes approximately 18 months ago. During the first cold snap this past fall, first time using the heat for the season, we got a "System Malfunction" message and no heat. After three service calls, where friendly but unsuccessful technicians tried to fix the problem, a new circuit board was installed under warranty and we were advised to buy a robust surge protector for our house, which we did. At the time, I was skeptical and I encouraged Estes to replace our whole unit, believing that it was a lemon. We were assured that this was not the case, and that our purchase of the surge protector would fix the problem. Now, on the precipous of a major winter storm, and a very cold Sunday, once again "System Malfunction" and no heat. Thanks, Estes! You may do a lot of work in Atlanta and you may have a generally friendly and qualified service staff, but sometimes a lemon is a lemon. For your malfeasance, I'm now paying the price. read more

The rep , Preston was here for all of 5 minutes before telling me that they did not offer that service. And checked the fee schedule before even attempting to look at my garbage disposal. He made one attempt at resetting the disposal , which I had already tried . Then he announced I needed a new disposal. Was a breeze to schedule over the phone - the reps remained in touch on Saturday as I was in an out - and came out before the 12 - 5PM window as it worked for both parties. In 2005, Estes installed a new Systems at my home ($3,500), everything went well until 4 years later. In 2009 my A/C stopped cooling and kept cycling on, so I called Estes. They came out and looked at my system, asked me if if I wanted them to perform a leak search (which could cost any where from $150-$450) and proceeded to add 4 Ibs of R-22 freon to the unit (at $54 per Ib). I passed on the leak search, not being aware of my warranty benefits that would cover any defects or installation errors. My issue with Estes is that the technician did not inform me of the benefit of parts and defects being covered by the warranty, which was do to expire in a year. Basically, the company did not take responsibility for a system that Estes originally installed. Fast forward to 2012, after the warranty had expired, my A/C is not cooling again. I called Estes to set up an appointment; however, after talking with another company's technician I was informed about the lapse in warranty. Why did it take for someone else ( who wasn't even involved with the original installation) to inform me of my warranty benefits. Estes seems to have a problem with properly training their technicians to be ethical and on how to inform and educate their customers of their warranty benefits, and taking full responsibility for the original installation. I ended up canceling my appointment with Estes. I am very disappointed with Estes follow up service and maintaining responsibility of installing the unit. Please beware of this company's practices. I called them based on the positive feedback I saw online. The technician arrived promptly at the schedule time. After the diagnosis, the technician informed me that the issue was a minor one (just as I had expected). The part to be replaced cost less than $10. Then the technician took about 10 to 15 minutes. At the end, he presented a bill of $245 for part and labor. I could not believe it!! read more

A lot of dishonesty here. They didn't show up as promised. Didn't provide itemized quote as promised or applied initial fee to the job. They say their work has 10 year warranty but neglect to tell you it's only if you pay them for service warranties. What's worse is employees at all levels from the workman to sales & management admit the con. Nevertheless, neither management or Trust Dale respond. They beg you to write a review on Google as the workers tell you they'll get a free lunch if you do. They initially hooked the system incorrectly as heat. I smelled burning & the employee said that's normal. Once his supervisor checked, turns out it was installed incorrectly. There were so many other things that went wrong. The maintenance contract is a scam and their prices are at least double market. They claim you can cancel the maintenance at any time for a refund, but when you call, there is no refund. As I mentioned above, I called Sunday (Memorial Day Weekend) after 7 hours I got my call back. He said Tuesday they would call and set up an appointment. I said that just doesn't seem right for someone with a service contract. I told the first lady I had a service contract at 9AM. This guy says Oh I didn't know you have a service contract. He said he will swing by Monday. Monday had no calls and no swing by. Lucky it was cooler. My wife found the paperwork, we prepaid our service contract. What a joke this company is. Horrible service, I haven't had the right size air filter since 2009 when my entire unit was replaced. Tech wrote down last winter on my last service that he replaced my filters when he did nothing of the sort. I call for an appointment and ask for the right filters only to be told that they have to order them. Then my appointment gets cancelled because they don't have them still 10 days later. Now they don't know what size to bring so they are coming to my house to get the filter ( that isn't the right size ) to compare with what they are going to order. Complete waste of time, Money, and this company is not looking out for my best interests and probably not yours.... We have been an Estes customer for 10 years, have been very pleased with their customer service. Not any more. We have been without heat since New Years day. Our heat exchanger is messed up. Estes had to get one from Houston, furnace is an Amana still under warranty. It's been 9 days and we still have no heat and can't seem to get Estes to do anything about it. You would think Amana would have shipped it next day air, or Estes would have. Regardless it should have been here by now. Seriously thinking about calling WSB. We're cold. Please be VERY CAREFUL when dealing with this company. I have been a regular customer of Estes for the last couple of years to service my HVAC system bi-annually. They were great at first, but it seems somewhere down the line, things have gone wrong with the quality of the work and the technicians. I recently renewed my service contract back in March 2018 when I had service done on my AC unit. During the visit, the technician told me that things were fine with my unit but she noticed that the coolant was low. If the coolant was low, why not investigate the cause of the problem? I guess she was waiting for another service call, hence more money. She stated to call back if there is a problem, did not advise me of the 30 day service warranty. The supervisor did honor the warranty since May 2018 was the first time that I used the AC since the service visit in March 2018. The lock on the outside panel that controls my HVAC system was broken and a piece of pipe is missing near my unit on the exterior of my home. At the close of the fall season when I stopped using the AC, the system was functioning just fine, no problems. Even on the day that the technician performed maintenance on my cooling system in March 2018, the system was blowing cool air. I did not use the AC until the first Friday of May 2018 and when I turned on the unit, surprise, surprise, no cool air. Just air blowing. It was a total embarrassment as I had guess in from out of town. I called the office the following Monday morning to report the issues with the system along with the lock that was broken plus the missing piece of my pipe. I was placed on the schedule for a system review and did receive a call from the supervisor who stated that the technicians do not have anything to break a lock with. I explained to the supervisor that the lock was very tiny (luggage size and real skinny). Per the supervisor stated that another tech would visit my property to see what is going on and the service fee would be waived. When the tech showed up, he stated that the system has been damaged. Despite a few problems in the neighborhood, the area where my condenser is located is all ways barricaded with the garbage can and recycling bin. I noticed that the lock was broken and on the ground a week after the technician serviced my system. Now I am being quoted over a $1k to refill my system with freon that is being phased out plus other work that the tech claims needs to be done (another $500 plus dollars if not more). The tech did not check for a leak since he didn't have the proper supplies/equipment. The tech also noted that the previous tech who serviced the unit noted the low levels of freon in the system back in March 2018, but yet I was told that my system was fine. After seeing all the negative reviews on the this company, I am strongly considering moving my business elsewhere. I do not have time to deal with dishonest and money hungry techs. The commission system in the HVAC industry has done more harm than good and what I see is a bunch of lazy and dishonest technicians that are willing to rip the customers off at any turn. I guess this business practice is good for the company but bad for consumers. Homeowners/consumers, due yourself a huge favor and do not use this company. I have a strong feeling that these issues are no accident. The previous technician also claims that caps were missing on my system. Who knows how long this has been going on over the last couple of years. I noticed that there is no consistency in the techs that come to a customer's home each year to service the system. For the last couple of years, at least 4 different technicians has been to my home to service this system, never any consistency. I called Estes to get a quote regarding our split level house and the cooling problems we have upstairs. The technician arrived right on time. He was very polite and thorough. Brought photos of some issues in my crawl space. Issues that needed to be fixed ASAP. One of the pipes was cracked, it was a pipe that contains carbon monoxide, so needless to say needed to be fixed fast! He reviewed his recommendation. He said that everything needed to be replaced if they were going to do the work. They were going to do it right if they were going to do it. "They were not hurting for jobs". You see our unit is 25 years old but because of yearly maintenance it runs great! The problem is the house was built without central air. Once he said they would not zone without replacing I told him we were not able to replace it right now. I told him we paid in full for everything and financing was not an option. However I did not say it was out of the question in a month or so...but with Estes it is! It has been a week and no quotes at all. Not for my leak, nor to zone the house. I guess Estes is too busy to worry about my problem...I went with GB services. They came out on Wednesday I had a quote that night, for the CO issue, and they came out to fix it the next day. They considered my CO issue an emergency since I have a newborn in the house as they are more susceptible to CO than a healthy adult. I will not reach out to Estes again. read more

I called Estes to check out my gas furnace, which was heating the home but cycling on and off. They came out and told me that I needed an igniter for $273.00. The next morning the home was cold, no heat at all. I called Estes back and now they claimed I had a crack in the furnace and it needed to be replaced. My question was why couldn't they find that on first inspection, I thought they new what they were doing and should have checked the furnace thoroughly, before I spent $273.00 and a service agreement of $254.00 within a matter of four days, to which I immediately cancelled and requested a refund of $273.00, the cost of the igniter. I was not going to let Estes do any more diagnosing nor work in my home, I didn't trust them to be honest with me. I then went to the BBB website and saw a bad review similar to my own,then I came to yelp and I was surprised to see all the negative reviews. They just care about charging your credit card and getting you to sign up for an annual service contract.
