Food was just fine. Nothing crazy but not bad. Wouldn't make a trip for it. Service was nice.

This review is long overdue The restaurant gives you playa del Carmen beachside bar vibes. The staff treats you like a regular, which is welcoming. The drinks are amazing. I come back for the pepino loco, it's a refreshing cucumber, pineapple drink that's just refreshing. All the food I've tried has been good. The poblano surf and turf burger is a favorite, but you can't go wrong with the tacos either.

Made a reservation which is highly recommended since the place is pretty small. Maybe 15 tables at most. They have a great cocktail and mocktail menu for everyone to enjoy. Started out with the three salsa combo and they just got spicier as you went across. They were all good. The empanada sampler is a must. The goat cheese and chicken ones were excellent. The spinach and chorizo ones were also good. The first two were better. The deep fried avocado spears were great if you could get past the texture. It was odd for me but they were very good. The service was on par but next time we are sitting in one of the six chairs at the bar. Make a reservation.

Had three tacos for their taco Tuesday special. They were great; very filling, clearly made with quality ingredients, and had a great taste, each for the great price of around 3.50. Their horchata was also excellent. Service was exceptional. The waiter was very accommodating and friendly, and created a welcoming atmosphere within the restaurant.

Poor enchiladas, crammed into this tiny container.

A friend recommended this place when I lamented the unavailability of posole sans pork. My cafeteria at work used to make it with a chicken base, and I loved it. I'm a vegetarian but I will deal with chicken broth as that is also the only way I can have my beloved matzoh ball soup. However pork is a little too... just no. In any event I placed an order and and got the much lauded mango enchiladas, goat cheese quesadillas, and the vegan posole. Pick up was easy because, at 7pm on a Thursday, the place was dead. (People! Why aren't you in here eating?) The sieve is fun and cozy. I took my food home and it was delicious as expected. I really like the unique flavors in the enchiladas, though I was a little disappointed they were presented so poorly, crammed into a small container and kind of a mess. I liked the quesadilla a lot, but then I love goat cheese. The dried mango was a nice contrast to the cheese. The vegan posole verde was pretty good. Maybe the rojo flavors are more my thing, but I'll have to stick to the veg version.

Surprised us with how great everything tasted. There were strong kicks of flavor and overall the food felt fresh and home made. Prices initially felt a lil high, but everything was well worth it. Strongly recommend a visit!

Estrella Negra: where have you been all my life? I tried this restaurant during a visit to Chicago. I live in LA where food options are endless. Still, I came home after enjoying Estrella: Mind. Blown. Ambiance: modern Mexican and Chicano arts, colorful and elevated. Casual, stylish comfy. Lots of Insta-friendly moments! Service: phenomenal table and bar service. The EN team is top-notch and are clearly committed to earning your repeat business (it was obviously a "where everybody knows your name" type establishment. FOOD: where do I begin? The menu is modern Mexican, with a twist by Chef Otoniel Michel. Without fear of disruptive creativity, Chef Otoniel offers a carefully curated menu with a delightful play on flavors. My recs: Mango Salsa Goat Cheese Enchiladas. You read it right. I got them with chicken and I've been craving them long after coming back to LA. Tamarindo Wings: again, yes. The award-winning wings are a must-have experience. Posole: there's vegan green and chicken red. I love them both, but I dream of the vegan green. No soy, no tofu, no processed protein source - only avocado. Mezcal and beer offerings abound. My fave: El Alacran mezcal cocktail. Go get yourself one...or five.

Don't walk- run here! The food is amazing!!!!! The service was fantastic and the ambiance is truly unique! Went on a Thursday when they first opened and that was a perfect time. I am not sure how busy they get but they are a smaller restaurant. So opening time was perfect. Everything we ate was delicious. I had the concha burger and that did not disappoint. The burger was cooked perfectly and the sweetness of the concha mixed with the burger was a perfect combination of flavors!

    Heaven

This hidden gem is small in size, but huge in what it delivers. The chef owner is a perfectionist and creates cocktails appetizers soups - - one of which is a green pozole that is totally exquisite in taste. Whether it's a concha burger made with homemade roll, yummy tacos dozens of varieties of unique margaritas, tamarind chicken wings or fried avocado wedges- - you'll wonder why you've missed out on this artful intimate retreat. The menu is creative, and what is served to you has been so thoughtfully delivered. . The chef has a rare ability to know precisely when to stop with a certain seasoning. -- he's an expert and it shows. Buen provecho!

"Welcome back." I…read morehesitate. I know with absolute certainty that I have never stepped foot in Chicago. Yet, the bartenders greet us with such a warm and friendly energy that I know with absolute certainly that I have been a regular at this bar for years. Decades. Centuries. I know within my soul that this was my go-to bar in a past life (and hopefully in the next). Just as welcoming as the awesome people are the $1 PBRs and $3 shots of tequila. And of course they hand out free hot dogs every night at midnight, which in my (intoxicated) mind was cemented as the definitive Chicago dog, even if it comes with no toppings whatsoever. And fittingly complementing the amazing energy of the bar is a 10 hour Youtube video of that memed Ukrainian kid dancing at a club playing endlessly on the TVs. Rocking sunglasses and looking like a stud, absolutely grooving without a single care in the world, and effortlessly matching every single song on the bar's playlist. That kid truly embodies the spirit of this bar. No matter what day it is, what time of day it is, or who visits, the bar's energy always works. Vibing to Black Eyed Peas on a Monday night never felt better. Imma be... back one day, rest assured. I genuinely can't wait for the next time I'm greeted with, "Welcome back."

We sat in the back patio area. The patio was covered and heated, supposedly. It was cold back there to me. They have $30 bottomless mimosas for brunch from 11-3. I ordered the chicken sandwich and added an egg. I also had the hot tots that came with queso dip. The food was really good actually. The chicken sandwich surprised me at how flavorful it was. Service was okay. The kitchen seemed swamped, so it took awhile for food to come out. They didn't check on us super frequently. Overall, the food was good, and the people that I went with enjoyed the bottomless mimosa deal.

I mean, I really do try to stay up on the best restaurants in Chicago but I NEVER heard of it. When I reached out to a friend who is a popular food influencer , he never heard of it either, so we immediately made a date. My friend dropped me off at Daisies on a Tuesday evening, while he looked for a park. When I walked in, the ambience was so electric and enticing I just knew we were in for a treat. I couldn't believe how packed it was for a Tuesday, and when I was shown right to my table by the friendly hostess, I was even more impressed. When my date came in, our waitress appeared. She was beautiful, friendly and ready to show us a great time. She gave us the menu run-down, readily answered our questions and got the show on the road. For a cocktail, I ordered the Sour, in the Green, a delightful and refreshing blend of mezcal, soka, green strawberries and tarragon. My date, a beer lover, ordered the Moody Tongue pilsner and Spiteful IPA, which he loved. For apps, I was told the house-made ruffles with onion dip were a must-have but she said, unfortunately, they were out. Awww, bummer! However, she appeared moments later and said she was able to secure the VERY LAST ORDER just for us. Game? Who knows, but when that order was placed in front of us and we dove in, and were more than satisfied. Our other app were the delicious potted carrots...a puréed delight containing pickled carrots, duck fat, and gnoccho fritto. Yum! As for entrees, I ALMOST went with the duck bolognese but when she described it as an elevated Hamburger Helper, I quickly declined. I haven't made HH since...EVER, so I wasn't about to order it on a rare night out with an amazingly handsome man, so I went with the lamb sugo. And it was all that. He ordered rigatoni and let's just say it was out of this world. Everything we ordered was cooked perfectly and seasoned to perfection. Service was on-point and everything one could want in a date night. I pride myself on choosing great restaurants and that's why I rarely leave bad reviews. Daisies lived up to its hype and I can't wait to go back!

Had a reservation 6pm on a Saturday. Such a cozy space with very friendly and attentive staff…read more Apps: Started with the French onion dip + smoked trout roe, and cabbage w beef tongue. The potato chips the dip came with were massive, fantastic, ruffle cut slices. Dip was good, trout roe ($18) gave it that extra pop of flavor. Our favorite dish of the night was definitely the beef tongue, so tender and balanced with textures and acidity. Mains were: Pappardelle (mushroom and carrot ragu) - I liked this best out of the three pastas, pasta was very tender. Cappelletti (beef, celery root fonduta) - felt a little under al dente in the sections where it was pasta pressed against pasta. The beef filling was on the average side, a simple, braised beef. Strozzapreti (duck bolognese + parm reggiano) - pasta was cooked perfectly, but the sauce leaned salty. Our half chicken arrived once we were finishing the pastas. Juicy and tender, with the fat/skin rendered out nicely. The sauce was good, but felt the chicken itself was lacking seasoning/flavor. The remaining duck ragu came in handy for extra saltiness. Finished the meal with the terrazzo cheesecake, and gelato scoop trio (roasted vanilla, peanut butter cookie dough brownie, and frutti di bosco sorbet). Cheesecake was light and wiggly, definitely contained some gelatin and cubes of strawberry jello; not too sweet. I enjoyed the peanut butter gelato the most, was very tasty mixed with the sorbet to make a little pb and j concoction. They also gave a little slice of chocolate cake as we were there for a celebration. Overall, appetizers were a hit, with the dessert coming in second, and entrees following thereafter. Was ~$240 w the included 25% service fee between 3 people. The food feels like 3.5 stars as the food was inconsistently good across courses, but the service/ambiance pushes it to a 4. Worth a try if you can get a reservation.
