Best Calamari, Sisig, and Pares in town!!! Thank God it is near our home. Great service too!

I saw this on Yelp as one of the newest places to try. I dropped by here Saturday to check it out and see how it fares with the other Filipino restaurants. It's located in a small strip mall with parking that can be challenging sometimes because it's shared with other businesses there. The staff are very friendly, no question about that. I was greeted warmly and handed me a menu while I was trying to look up at their menu on the wall. A Lechon Belly was displayed and looks crispy and juicy. I ordered the Crispy Pork Belly and Full Squid to go. For each order, there are 2 sides that goes with it. One can choose salad, garlic rice, java rice, steamed rice or French fries. I chose garlic rice and salad for the crispy pork belly and the java rice and salad for the other. The wait for the order was around 15 minutes and some. I left a bit and went to their sister restaurant which was just a door or 2 down the same strip. When my order was ready, the staff at Ethan's brought it to me personally which I'm very pleased. Went home, took a peak of what I ordered, and did a quick small bite of the crispy pork belly and the squid. Seems good. Now for the real eating. The crispy pork belly were bigger cuts of meat compared to the usual combo orders one gets in other Filipino places. It is crispy indeed and the ratio of meat and fat is enough that eating the fat is not too sinful. The garlic rice didn't work for me. Bits of fried garlic would be nice. The salad was just chopped lettuce with carrots and dressing. This can be improved in my opinion There's a small pickled papaya or atsara for both orders which was just ok. The full squid on the other hand needed another minute or so in my opinion on the grill. Tender yes, but would have been better to have a lemon with the order. Also if it has been marinated long enough, this has the potential to be a winner. I had the same opinion with the java rice. Can be better, the salad same thing. For both orders, one will be needing more than 1 rice especially if you are a rice eater. The soy vinegar sauce was not the soy vinegar or even with spicy sauce I'm used to have when eating either squid or crispy pork belly. I will try this place one more time because I want to push these stars to 4 or even 5. It looks promising. I will try the other items in the menu. Maybe just a preference. We will see. read more

It's Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month and so wanted to make sure that I support some amazing AAPI eateries. Ethan's Belly Boink which just opened up a month ago is definitely one amazing new place. I got visit recently and enjoyed some delicious food. Ethan's Belly Boink is the sister restaurant to Ethan's Chibugan (one store down). While Ethan's Chibugan specializes in more traditional Filipino food; Ethan's Belly Boink is all about Filipino grilled food. They have grilled pork belly, grilled seafood, rotisserie chicken along with crispy pork belly, beef short ribs and beef pares. One can pair their grilled meats with 2 sides. Choices of sides include salad, fries, java rice and garlic rice. Food prices range from $7.99 (quarter rotisserie chicken) to $12.99 (beef short ribs). I got to try the crispy pork belly, beef pares and rotisserie chicken recently. I found the crispy pork belly to be nice and crisp. They fried it to a deep golden brown. The rotisserie chicken was very good too. It was quite moist and had good flavoring. The beef pares was more on the sweet side. It reminded me more of a sweet pork like patatim. From the sides; I enjoyed the garlic rice the best. I also tried the java rice and it was also good paired with the meats. Aside from grilled meats; they also have some desserts. There is mais con yelo, sago at gulaman and halo-halo. Dessert prices range from $4.00 (mais con yelo and sago at gulaman) and $5.59 (halo-halo). Overall I'm happy to see this new spot in Carson offering grilled Filipino food. read more

I read a few review about the sisig before I came here.. and I was worried but they were wrong! It's quiet crispy.. but you have to eat it straight away, I took a bite in my car and took it home and put it in the oven. I really loved the taste! I would come back here just for that! The crispy pork belly was bomb diggity! Also would come back to it aka cart. I got it with Garlic Rice. Would be perfect if rice was more garlicky than I received but all good the swine is great! While I was waiting for the food I ordered halo halo and sat there. They had a good Chanel on the screen that I found entertaining to watch. :) the restaurant was clean and the lady serving was also super sweet! I will come back again! Xx read more

Went to Chibugan, Lechon at Ethan's and as I walked down I saw this spot... Was intrigued about this spot. AMBIANCE: Parking: Plaza parking and street parking. It's constantly busy as it's a day-to-day business area. Seating: Very limited. Two tables with about 4 chairs each. Feels: It's off of the Filipino Street strip with a lot of hustle and bustle. The place itself is relatively small but vibrant. You'll be greeted by the sounds of cooking and the tv. Great place to grab a quick bite or order on the go. FOOD: Crispy Pork Belly (Recommend) Deeelicious. Crispy, juicy, and not too dry. I chose the sides of french fries and java rice which complemented it pretty well. The fries were fresh and the java rice looked aesthetically pleasing. Nothing extra special but pretty comforting. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Great! Friendly people and quick with the service. I was searching for something new and this place popped up. I believe it is a sister restaurant of the traditional Filipino restaurant a couple doors down. I ordered the Crispy Pork Belly. It was fried to perfection, a golden brown. The skin is crispy, crackling and it was moist inside. The Rotisserie Chicken is very delicious. Very moist and flavorful. After visiting a VW show in Long Beach and showing homes in the South Bay we wanted some genuine Filipino food and this smaller restaurant was rated as one of the best... for a good reason. Michelle is an awesome host, very talkative and informative. My mother-in-law was born and raised in Pampanga and the roots of the restaurant are Pampangan as well. Sisig and Silog were very nice, halo halo a welcome palette cleanser. Parking was not difficult, even though we arrived at around 1pm on a Saturday. 10/10, highly recommended! read more

Great Food, Ceubuchon was very flavorful, street food, Longanisa and Garlic Rice was delicious. Halo-Halo and Mais con yelo was spot on for the dessert (right amount of sweetness!). Ordered for lunch pick up at opening and were told lechon belly would be ready at noon. Arrived at 12:10 and sure enough, the lechon belly was barely coming out of the kitchen. Our complete order wasn't ready until closer to 12:30. However, once I dug into my platter, it was all worth it. Freshness of the lechon was amazing, perfectly seasoned, tender/juicy, with addicting crispy skin. However, the homemade sarsa was a miss for me, too sweet and didn't cut into the fatty richness of the pork. We also ordered the a la carte sisig and like many others have stated, needs to be reheated in a pan to get crispy if taking it to-go. The sisig is also amazing in its own rite. Highly recommend but Im sure my MD wouldn't for cholesterol sake. read more

I don't know too much about Filipino food but this place is a 5 star gem! I had their Lechon pork and it was amazing! Crispy skin + juicy tender meat = winner! It was so much flavor on each bite, paired with their garlic rice. Mmm! So good! I must be in Heaven... Also, try their Halo Halo. I think it pretty much sealed the deal. Very small place. Lady had attitude when she took my order. Only 2 tables and no one bothered to clean the only table open. It still had 4 cups of water on it that people drank and table was dirty. The best part if you really not feeling like eating food from the Philippines you can go right next door.and order the seafood bags and they also have great menu prices and choices. Today we ordered the whole chicken with 2 sides this was less than 25 bucks and very filling by the way. Chicken was seasoned very well and juicy. Cooked perfectly all the way through. Fantastic Filipino food in a little strip mall. Parking in this lot seems like it could be tough at times but I found parking okay. I was in the area waiting at the Kaiser nearby otherwise I probably wouldn't have found this gem. I was greeted by a nice lady at the register when I came in. Small place with only two tables to eat at, but I got mine to-go anyways. Couldn't decide between the lechon pork belly or the fried pork belly but I ended up going with the fried pork belly. It came with two sides so I chose a salad and garlic rice. The pork belly was perfectly cooked and tasted fantastic, the dipping sauce was also good that came with it. The garlic rice was also delicious. The only complaint I have is that the salad just came with some store bought Italian dressing. I was expecting something homemade and something that would go cohesively with what I ordered like some type of Asian salad dressing. Oh well, not the biggest thing. I ordered via doordash on 09/03/22 at 4:07pm for delivery. I had my apprehensions since I ordered- Crispy Pork Belly Lunch Special. And I love Goldilocks Lechon Kawali in Carson. Well "Goldilocks" dropped down a slot to #2 as long as my first experience continues with following orders of Pork Belly Lunches . As some other reviewers have stated- the portion of Crispy Pork Belly aka Lechon Kawali- is definitely good for a hungry person or to share- might need to order an extra scoop of rice (if sharing). Of course you need fat but there's a good portion of meat as well in each piece- along with the necessary crispy bite- but not hard on the teeth. Personally I'm not a fan of liver sauce for this- so I always substitute Vinegar and Garlic Sauce- is my Jam . Garlic rice was good and I had the salad (little mango julienne was a bonus) as the 2 sides for the combo- granted I would've liked 1000 Island Dressing for the salad but it comes with oil/balsamic vinegar (since delivery I used my own 1000 Island Dressing). Oh my gosh this place is killer. We had a 50 person Hawaiian party for my daughter with the star of the food show being this lechon. We bought the whole thing and it was gone. People kept raving about how amazing it was and how it was the best lechon they have ever had in their life. We had two chefs in attendance and both were analyzing how they were able to get just the right amount of crispness with moist tender pig amazingness hahaha.
