Waiter Lay-Lay is amazing, she is literally an angel from heaven and the reason I love this place so much.

I really hate to leave this kind of review because I grew up on Harold's Chicken in Chicago, and whenever Chicagoans visit L.A., I usually bring them here. This location has always tasted even better than the ones back home. But tonight was extremely disappointing. The first order came out with room-temperature fries and wings that were dark and barely hot. The second order they brought out was not much better -- no seasoning, over-fried, and it tasted like the grease was old and dark. The only bright spot was Mo, the server and bartender, who was attentive and professional from beginning to end. I truly appreciated her service. Unfortunately, the food itself was a major letdown, and I hope this is not the experience I ever have here again. read more

I placed an order TO GO . IT WAS FOR $21.99. I did not order anything extra or special. Got home and the receipt was for $30! It should have been $24 (incuding tax) but they overcharged me by $6. Talked to a neighbor who lives in my building. They too were overcharged when ordering through Door Dash (or Uber Eats) by almost $10. I lost the receipt before I could go back and complain. Came here for dinner before an event. The place has a club vibe with music blasting and a bar area. Our Server was nice and answered all our questions but the tables weren't the cleanest. We ordered the drumstick meal and chicken tenders meal. It did take awhile for the food to come out since it was a busy night. Drumstick Meal- The drumsticks were a decent size. It had a crispy interior while staying juicy inside. Fries were hot and crisp. Chicken Tenders Meal- This one was disappointing. It had a tough/hard texture and the meat was dry. I want there on Saturday and it was a vibe! The food was amazing from fried chicken., shrimp, to seafood pasta. I give the seafood pasta 10/10. They play good music that I can vibe to. The Manger took care of me very professional, very attentive to the customers dining in. He made sure that I got the best experience while dining in. Mehhh... I went this weekend for a birthday celebration. Only 3 tables were occupied as I approached the door. A sign said wait so I did. No acknowledgement, not even from the man posted against the wall. His head was down & glued to his phone. Found out later he was security. What a waste! I finally got summoned to wait at the counter. Sis had reservations, but it seems the ladies couldn't find her name. This was another 10+ minutes wait with no explanation or anything. Again, about 3 tables were occupied and a few customers were at the bar. Music was so loud, you can't think straight. Or hear a conversation from the person next to you. Great sound system and GREAT dj though! We finally got seated at a booth. The table was way too short for both end people to reach. I had to sit on the edge of the seat, like a baby, to reach the table. Another 15+ minutes passed before the server came over to offer water and take orders. I ordered the catfish over dirty rice w/ sauce. Catfish was fried to perfection. The fish itself, lacked seasoning but was cool since I used hot sauce. Rice was unbelievably salty, almost inedible. I pray this was accidental to my meal. Lord knows this is a heart attack on a plate!! I mixed until my rice almost turned mushy just to prevent returning my food (which I HATE doing). I also scooped out the ground meat (not sure what it was) and most of the sausage b:c I don't eat either and wasn't aware it was in the rice. Arrgghh! The rest of my family ordered wings & waffles. None of them liked the waffles and said the chicken was just okay. So much that they kept dipping into my salty bowl of food. Lol We saw very little personality from the lady who sat us + took our order + served us. The only time she livened up is when everyone started line dancing around the tables. Try not to consider the sub par service, just rate the food. Ok, had catfish nuggets, and they were o.k. Enjoy them more when skin is removed, but not bad. Yams, good. Mac n cheese, good. The nuggets were too pricey for the small handfull you get on your plastic plate. Yes, the ambiance and interior is nice, and then you're presented with a plastic cup for water, plastic plate, and plastic utensils, and not even "good" plastic utensils. LOL. I am from Chicago and coming here is a way to get my "homesick fix" sometimes. The service is typically trash and more specifically from a particular female cashier. It seems like she never where she should be and be dancing around not doing her job properly. I have sat there quite a few times patiently waiting for my order with my kids and she continues to walk by without a word. She knows the food is ready because the food warmer is to the left of the register and they have to walk directly behind her to place it there. She doesn't say a thing and she walks off like she doesn't see a paid customer waiting. It takes other employees (which is why you got two stars instead of 1) from the kitchen to come take my order and most of the time hand me my order. That girl is straight trash at her job and I don't think I'll go back there for a good while. read more

The food was okay but what really set me off was that they took almost 45 min to bring out the food (we were the only ones in there btw) and when it finally came out my side of Mac was half cold and hot. I didn't bother complaining to our server since her attitude was already annoyed. Mind you she was unfriendly since the moment we walked in. The mild sauce or special sauce is nothing special it's like ketchup with an extra ingredient. we also got the six piece wings with a side. The side is literally a sauce container with greens. It's the most laughable side I've ever gotten in my entire life to the point where I laughed out loud in the restaurant when I saw it. i'm sorry, but if on your menu, you promote six wings and a side I'm expecting an actual side. Don't even bother putting it on there. It's joke. Also we ended up putting in an order of 8oz greens since the first one was in a sauce container .when the side finally came out we were all done with our meal. I came to this establishment for my friend's birthday and it was a bit unorganized on the restaurants behalf . It appeared there was maybe a miscommunication with the servers about seating. I was apart of a party of 20 ppl and we were told we'd be sitting in the front yet we were placed in a room. The room was nicely set up, but the vibe wasn't what the birthday girl wanted. After about 40 mins they were able to accommodate us. Once we were seated , our server was attentive with drinks and ready to take orders. I ordered the large catfish nugget dinner with fries and a side of shrimp. The shrimp was really good and the catfish nuggets were just okayyy- wasn't enough fish in the nugget . They were fried hard, so that was important. The parking is scarce, but it's on Hollywood blvd so meter parking or in a structure . Firstly, the music was so loud you literally cannot have any conversation or interaction with anyone at your table. My ears were ringing and I had to actually go outside for relief. It was hellishly annoying AF. We asked to lower it just a little and they said yes, but they cranked it up even louder. I hate this place. You cannot convince me that this isn't a trap house masquerading as a restaurant LOL. Where do I begin; when I and my party (4 total) arrived, we were told by the doorman to sit anywhere. After proceeding to "sit anywhere" we were intercepted by someone who took us to a table. We waited a long while before we finally got menus. I was literally seconds away from never having had their chicken at all because my friend and I were just about to walk out when the hostess finally came to take our order. I mean it was as if there was no basic customer service training whatsoever. Let me break it down. We wal in around 8:30pm or so and stand at the entrance. The place is empty save for a family in one corner, a group of way over dressed girls in another and a few folks at the bar. We stood there for so long without any acknowledgment that my friend finally approached the hostess, who clearly saw us waiting, to ask if we could be seated. After looking confused and having a side bar with the bartender she then told us to sit wherever we liked. Why couldn't she communicate that 20 minutes prior? Why just ignore us. Should have left then but we look at each other and just shake our heads. But once we sat and were given the menu she disappeared and we waited some more. That's when we decided we had enough. Just as I was about to push up off that banquette seat she came chirping over with her pen and paper. The menu is typical soul food and way overpriced but it's on the Hollywood strip so there's that. We settled on the wing dinner. Apparently there's a difference between a "dinner" and a "platter" but I still don't know what that is. What I do know is shorty was just going to give us the wings and fries until we pointed out to her that the menu said the dinner included a side of greens, macaroni or potato salad. They were out of greens though of course. The chicken came out piping hot and I admit it was good and tasty but not a napkin or utensil in sight. We asked but neither materialized. I had to snatch a few cocktail napkins from the bar. She had to be pinned down on the forks, how else were we supposed to eat the side...oops..excuse me...the sample. I don't like giving negative reviews but this review needs to be made. To the management team: set your team up for success! We had reservations for a party of 6 at 12:30p on 12/17/23 for Sunday Brunch. They over-booked so they couldn't seat us at the table we reserved. Then we order drinks, and despite only being open for an 30 minutes, they were out of the ingredients for the first four (4) drinks we ordered! How's that even possible? When the waitress took our food order around 12:45p, she informed us that there was a 90 minute table limit. Well we didn't receive our food until 1:38p (see pic/video showing the time on my watch), almost an hour after placing our order. 60 minutes of the 90 minute table limit was wasted waiting for our meal to arrive. At 2:20p, our waitress informs us that our time was up. Luckily we had just finished our last bite around 2:10p. On a positive note, our waitress was very attentive, our food was ok, and the music was bumping. But considering we had to rush to eat in order to finish before our time was up was not the way my party and I wanted to enjoy Sunday brunch. And not to mention, my husband and I invited the two other couples to celebrate their anniversary and birthday. We felt bad, and honestly embarrassed, that we brought them here with the outcome being unsatisfactory. I want to see this restaurant thrive. In order to do so, management will need to make some necessary improvements, such as making sure you have everything prior to the restaurant opening, not overbooking, and making sure there are enough cooks so that meals are brought to the tables a bit quicker and customers don't have to rush to eat. read more

I had seen this place all over TikTok and was so excited to try it! But we were extremely disappointed! We first ordered the fried okra and we should have just up and left after we were served those. Not only did they look unappetizing but they lacked flavor as well. Church's chicken has better okra...presentation, quantity, and flavor. We also ordered the grits & catfish and grits & oxtails. These dishes were just ok. I don't like sweet sugar grits so I was unable to enjoy mine. The restaurant was full and had a nice crowd. Although we had reservations we were sat at a rickety rockety bistro table covered with a table cloth (something you rent for parties). In this corner of the restaurant I guess they were trying to create more seating so we were sandwiched in there. Very uncomfortable! The waitress couldn't even get by without bumping us. When she brought the check I questioned the charge for the okra asking if there had been an error...shouldn't we have been charged the snack price? I'm not sure how I feel about this one. On one hand, the chicken was amazing and so were the fries and the potato salad. For starts, I asked for ranch and mild sauce with my order and as I left, asked if the ranch was in there. I was told yes and headed to my destination. The ranch was not in there. I figured something was up since I didn't see it in the plastic bag but figured it would be in the bag with the chicken. I paid 2.00 for that ranch and will have to get reimbursed for it... But that's just one sad part. They were out of most sides and basically had potato salad and cole slaw left. No mac and cheese, no greens. On a Sat around 4pm? In Hollywood? I was sad for them. The night was just beginning. I have zero to say about the chicken. Thankfully it was flavorful and hot and crispy since I only had mild sauce to use and not my favorite dipping delight. The potato salad, as delicious as it was was a mere 2 oz. It was tiny and I wish I knew that was the size the side would come in. The service was fine with the exception of not double checking to make sure a product that is paid for was in fact delivered. Found ourselves in Hollywood on a Friday night, hungry after going to a magic show. My daughter looked up Harold's Chicken & Bar and decided that we had to go! I'm so glad we did. We ordered chicken tenders with lemon pepper, catfish nuggets, and lobster bites. I know, fish at a chicken place? But let me tell you....that was some good catfish. It was properly coated and seasoned with a crispy outside and tender flaky fish inside. It was delicious. I always go for the fried fish option and I was pleased with my choice. The chicken tenders were juicy chicken with a crisp coating. The lemon pepper was a nice addition. We had spicy sauce on the side. We also ordered potato salad and cole slaw. It's a tiny portion, but really you don't need all that much. The lobster bites were amazing. Tiny bites of lobster with a crispy crunchy coating. Yummmm. We had the mild sauce on the side. It is sweet and tangy and oh so delicious. I'm not a huge fan of sweet tea but decided to give it a try. It was not too sweet and a little lemony. I enjoyed it a lot. More than I thought I would. They also have fresh lemonade. There is a bar if you need something stronger. One of the best parts about the meal was the friendly service. Our server was so nice. Explained the menu and answered questions. He also told us a little bit about the restaurant as well as telling us about Sunday brunch with bottomless mimosas and Thursday karaoke nights.
