Stuffed Salmon Mac n Cheese Broccolini
    Bolivian J.

So I went on a Thursday for my birthday, 6ppl. It was empty I loved that. The waitress was there and knowledgeable of anything we questioned. The aesthetic was insta worthy, no tacky grass walls so if you're looking for that go somewhere else. Low lights, playlist on point, no twerking by my table and food, it wasn't loud. Surprisingly it wasn't smoked out. But again it was a slow night. The food was amazing. I had Stuffed Salmon, Mac and broccoli with red lemonade. Everything was good even the portion size. 6 ppl not one complaint. The mocktails because there's no liquor at this establishment were good. You can add a lil razzle dazzle to the food and the drinks if you want. It's a lil extra for it. With that being said.... That $25 fee, can we reconsider. It should go towards the razzle. $10 plus for each item it's a money grab to me. It should be either or not both. But hey it's your establishment, I decided to go knowing this information up front and yes I do plan on returning. Maybe the extra $$ deters the drifters and I'll definitely pay for that. Waitress did say Friday Saturday Sunday brings the crowds and recommended reservations. Also be prepared to sign a waiver.

Lamb chops, mashed potatoes and yams. I had an infused Snickers cheesecake also that we didn't get a pic of but it was awesome!

Traveled in from Memphis and this was the number one spot on our list of things to do, and we were not disappointed. Great environment, good drinks, and the food, both infused and non-infused were top-tier. We had the stuffed salmon and lamb chops and we loved both. The staff was awesome as well. They did a great job explaining the menu, and the policies. Good time, good vibes.

I made a reservation for a Saturday (for a friends bday) on a Wednesday. I paid the non refundable deposit but was sent a message at almost midnight on Friday that my reservation was canceled for not paying the deposit. I got ahold of them and they ensured I was still booked. They require a $25 "day pass" PER PERSON so for 8 people that's $200. and the food is expensive. They don't offer tap water just $5 bottled waters. For the combined cost there should have been more servers. We were hardly checked up on. It took almost half an hour for my drink to be made despite there not being a lot of people. I brought a birthday cake and they did put it in the fridge for us. However when we asked her to bring it out it took another 30 minutes where the server was walking back and forth not doing much. When she brought it out, she did not offer any plates so we had to put the cake on napkins. The menu does state that there is an 18% gratuity. However when you've been there for a few hours and you're a bit high, you don't think about it. It wasn't mentioned when I asked for the check and I accidentally tipped an extra $15 on top of the 18%. The waitress didn't offer a receipt and I'm still confused how I spent $125 for a $20 bowl of pasta, 2 $15 drinks, and a 1/4 of the birthday girls salad and one drink. The only good thing was the food and they did bring out a complimentary cake in addition to the cake we brought.

I also hadn't realized it was a buffet style restaurant (when I bought a certificate for the place on restaurant.com, they had a whole menu to order from. Imagine my surprise when we got there to this lunch lady cafeteria looking place. They need to update their info on restaurant.com so people will know what to expect. The food was COLD, had no flavor, what they called dressing was stove top stuffing, the macaroni was dry as hell with burned cheese on top. There was a tray that had what looked like tiny cubes of potato floating in some greenish water. The lady told me it was steamed broccoli. No ma'am, that's the part of the broccoli we usually throw away, where's the part that looks like a tree? Honest to goodness, that was THE worst spaghetti I've ever eaten. Not only did it taste TERRIBLE, it had the mouth feel of applesauce, super mushy. You could tell it was not only really cheap pasta, but they obviously boiled it for an hour and 45 minutes. The jiffy'ish corn muffin was so dry it just crumbled. And the sweet potato...notice I didn't say candied...was just a chunk of boiled sweet potato, no seasoning, no syrupy sauce, no butter. Our plates were still almost just as full when we left as they were when they served it to us. There was a sign stating only one dessert per customer. The guy that served us our food at the buffet kept hovering around us until my friend said she couldn't take it anymore. So we asked if we could just have our dessert to go, they told us there would be an upcharge for takeout. I will admit, the fried fish was EXACTLY the way I like it, not still soft and/or wet, but not cooked to death, a nice light hard fry. And the weird murky colored tea was flavorful, again, a real southern soul food cook would NEVER serve powdered tea mix, but it was pleasant tasting. But $5 for a glass of tea? The fact that the place was totally empty on a Friday night at 7pm should have alerted us that folks ain't busting down doors to eat here. The decor was pretty nice, the people were very sweet, but that cooking...smh. I've never gone to dinner with a friend and been in and out of a restaurant so fast. I think we spent a total of 20 minutes there. My friend paid, but later told me the bill was $60. That was $52 more than what it was worth.

Second thing, don't expect to pay the price that's on the online menu. I only went to this restaurant for the meatloaf and cabbage, and to try out their dressing, which they didn't have any of those. Third thing, I paid $57 for the worst meal I've had this year. I called before I left to ask if I could place an order on the phone (since the online ordering was not available). Whoever answered just said "No you may not" and hung up (wow, great customer service, I should have known then they weren't gonna have meatloaf.) I thought I'd arrived early enough in the day 2:30 to be getting lunch menu. But obviously, since my bill was $57, I guess I paid for dinner menu items, I definitely didn't pay the prices they showed online, I paid twice as much. When it comes to the food, the turkey wing had a weird vinegary flavor, the mac and cheese only had a layer of cheese on top, once you got past that pretty topping, there was just unsalted noodles. The black eyed peas just tasted like water. The flour wasn't cooked out enough in the chicken and dumplings, so it was more like just wet dough rather than dumplings. All the salt that all the other sides needed badly was used up in those salty greens, almost inedibly salty. The ratio of fruit to crust in the peach PIE, stop calling it a cobbler, was way off, like lots of dough, few peaches. And I don't know how they could call that mush banana pudding, it was very unpleasant, and I guess when they were making, someone forgot to put in the bananas! The yams and cornbread were good. I wasn't offered water, although menu says free water with each platter (and no, with good service, I shouldn't have to ask if it's listed as part of the meal).

We looked over the menu and we ended up ordering fried catfish, fried Green tomatoes, and fried pork chops. I also got a side order of mac and cheese and mashed potatoes and gravy and fried okra. The fried green tomatoes came out and I felt like they were overcooked very mushy inside. The outer banner was very crunchy and cooked well the inside didn't really have much taste. The menu said they would serve it with a ranch dressing but it ended up being some other type of reddish sweet and sour type creamy dressing. It was ok. The pork chops we're dry and the meat tasted old. I think they need to change their meat supplier. The mashed potatoes taste it like I had a ton of garlic powder. In my opinion a restaurant should never use garlic powder but instead use fresh garlic in their dishes. It's really easy just to throw cloves of garlic in the potatoes as you're boiling them. Or roast them. I was burping up garlic for several hours after I left. You can often judge a soul food restaurant by their mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was baked but the cheese sauce tasted like nacho cheese sauce. Or some type of ready-made cheese sauce. And they just mixed up the cheese sauce with some elbow pasta, threw some American cheese on top and threw it in the oven. It was not the worst mac and cheese I ever had but it was definitely not good. The restaurant was very clean and I like their decor. Ray came out talking to customers and checking on their satisfaction. He was nice and I didn't have the heart to give him bad news. But I really believe unless they fix their recipes and show more imagination that they're not going to make it. Lighten up on the salt. The food was too salty. I wanted to try their sweet potato pie but after me and disappointed by all the other dishes I changed my mind. I probably won't be going back. 65 bucks for dinner for two.

Message upon placing the order initially showed my order would be ready in an hour. An hour later got another "actual" confirmation that my food would be ready in yet another hour (so 2-hours after placing the order if you're keeping up). So at approximately the 2-hr mark I got a message my food was ready. Supposedly you can "skip the line" meaning you don't need to stand in the ridiculously long line for those ordering in person. I stood in the 2nd line (there's a separate line for online orders. Would be fantastic if they actually had any organization and if your food is truly ready. Mine was not! guy would come out of the kitchen periodically and ask for names, then disappear back into the kitchen. So I still had a 20-minutes wait - for food that I was told was ready. Anyway to the food. I paid almost $34 for meat, 3-sides and dessert. They do give you a lot of food so I was able to make 3 meals which boils down to a little over $10/meal. Not bad. The oxtails were tender and delectable. Macaroni and cheese was juicy a la Kraft Mac n Cheese. Tasted ok but I don't like juicy macaroni. The greens had a weird spice (dill?) that does not belong in greens. The sweet potatoes were ok, but again there was a weird additive that made the juice almost gel-like. I got a smaller than shot glass size cup with a tiny cube of cranberry sauce. ‍. Peach cobbler was perfect! The dining room was dark - no, not romantic - DARK. Not sure if that was intentional - or if it's like that all the time, but it was mid afternoon on an overcast day so turn on some lights people! I couldn't tell if the place was clean or not. Bottom line, given all of the issues, I probably won't need to go back there - but at least I can say I tried it. Oh and parking SUCKS.
