I can't recommend this place enough!! Decided to celebrate a graduation lunch, I made reservations and upon arriving we were seated right away. Service was a 10/10! Our server was the sweetest, we were a large party and he was so patient, attentive and kind! Onto the food- to make it short everything was amazing!! Our party enjoyed the dishes they ordered, it was flavorful and fresh! Definitely will be back soon to explore other options on the menu!

NOPE- You won't find peacock on Eureka's menu but the rib-sticking food and friendly service'll make you feel like one!

In the mid 19th century, dungaree and flannel adorned miners putatively hollered "Eureka" when they'd successfully unearthed a precious, gleaming gold nugget from California's river beds. 170 yrs later, your flannel and Dockers adorned fave Yelp correspondent felt like bellowing "Eureka" after he'd demolished the Double-Smash Burger w/ Beer Breaded Onion Rings combo he'd ordered takeout from Eureka. Both the restaurant and this combo are EXQUISITELY named! Claremont's buzziest Friday night go-to spot most assuredly strikes the bullseye for anyone craving well made, bespoke men's food and lawd almighty, did this combo exemplify the "smash" in its name!!! I'd discovered Eureka a wk ago as part of my wee gig work- This retired Fortune 100 exec now is perfectly content to ferry a half dozen meals/most nights. Over the course of delivering a trio of orders from the Claremont Eureka, I was transfixed both by the vibrant tempo of the restaurant paired with the friendly, welcoming demeanor of their staff. Not always the easiest choice when your lobby is SRO (Standing Rm Only) and the noise palpitates like a wave! I brought my combo home, gently reheated it and lemme tellya: There were zero "tossaways" here. Most takeout orders, I'm chucking some aspect of it- Perhaps maudlin pickles or the weepy tomato that damn near deluged my bottom bun into a veritable sponge or the month old ranch... Not here!!! My pickles (!!!) were crisp, super garlickly and looked like they'd been freshly pickled. Zero annoying tomato to rain on my bun! The dijonnaise served as an accompaniment to my onion rings was a garlickly super hero, transporting goid onion rings to GREAT! The double smash was served on a fat, glistening brioche bun that beckoned me damn near as well as my wife's wondrous backside still does, thirty yrs later! You can tell the care and thoughtfulness that the Eureka executive chef has brought to forming their menu!! My long-winded but dammit-its-descriptive way of saying- "This was an authentic 5-star meal and I can't wait to return!"

I have now been to Eureka two times and I know I will be back. Let's start with the service. On both occasions, the host/hostesses have been very friendly. We were greeted and shown to our table. This last time we asked to sit in patio. We asked for a specific area and they accommodated the request by moving tables together for our group. The servers were very knowledgable. They made recommendations and answered our many questions. Whether you sit inside or out, the tables are placed far apart enough to afford each group some space & privacy. The food is top tier. We have ordered beverages, appetizers, entrees, and dessert. Regardless of what we had, everything was delicious. My all time favorite were the Crispy Glazed Brussel Sprouts. I recommend you try them out. Looking forward to my next visit.

Super busy night leading to our server being over sat. He was excellent and this review is solely on the food. Disappointed in my meal tonight. I didn't feel like sending my food back especially after not eating all day and waiting extra long to be sat & get service. The jalapeño jam burger has zero spice & it was too sweet..I wouldn't order it again. I have not been to a Eureka in several years and this experience confirmed that I won't be back..

This is one of my favorite local go-to's! For this visit, I tried the Spa Day Margarita. I didn't expect it to be quite as sweet lol, but I still enjoyed it. I'll probably try a different drink next time though. As for the Mac N Cheese Balls, they did not disappoint!! The ranch here is the perfect dip! I always get a little sad when they're gone too fast haha Even though the restaurant was busy, we were seated pretty quickly and our food arrived faster than expected. Definitely a fun and satisfying visit for girls night :)

Front-house staff was fantastic, friendly and acknowledged your presence. Our servers, Jordan & Mack, were top-notch, and the food was very yummy. Sat in their patio, on the corner of the street and it was beautiful. #RECOMMEND

Eureka is a staple in Claremont! From delicious appetizers to great burgers and amazing craft cocktails and beer, the food is top notch! It's located in the packing house and has indoor and outdoor seating. It stays open late and has great food and drink specials during certain days of the week including happy hour. The place is great for a date night or a brunch with friends. I recently had the burger and cocktail of the month and both were delicious. The smash burger is always a hit! They also offer deals if you sign up for their free app. The service is always quick and the servers are friendly. Yvette was our server this past visit and she was had great menu recommendations for food and drinks. We will definitely be back!

This place is located inside the Claremont packing house. Nice old style place with a decent sized patio. Staff is always really polite and service is consistent. The food is made pretty good and is priced fair. Always a good time with I drop in for a bite.

My coworker got a reservation for 5:30 last night for 12 of us to celebrate one birthday and one going away of a colleague. We don't see each other regularly, so it was a fun little reunion. It was happy hour, so we shared deep fried pickles, truffle fries, and Mac n cheese balls for the table. I ordered an old fashioned and Eureka burger with salad from the happy hour menu. We stayed for 3 and a half hours, catching up and laughing a lot. The staff was super friendly, attentive, and helpful. They never rushed us to leave at all. We enjoyed sitting outside with the plentiful overhead heating lamps keeping us cozy.

Food was absolutely delicious! Had wings and poke as starters and let me tell you. I will come back solely for the poke, it was incredible! I also had the seared salmon and it was so good. The plates have great portions, I'm literally so excited to eat my food again later today!

I really loved this place! Wish it was closer to home lol. It's a small inside dining with heated patio. Thankfully we had a reservation and only had to wait a little. It was pretty busy! We opted for getting seated right away aka patio which was fine but it was soooooo cold. While the heaters were all over the patio, the positioning of them (at least at our table) made it so not everyone could feel it. Thankfully the table next to us left and it wasn't seated again so we turned that one towards us and felt so much better. Menu isn't extensive and it's full of things that sounded amazing. We started with the brussle sprouts. They were SOOOOOOOOO good. I would have eaten a whole vat of them. Cocktails were super amazing! The presentation for the campfire cocktail was A+. Food over all was great. Service was friendly and working hard. A great spot!

Lots of people have recommended this place and they are sure right about it. First, the place is very hip and rustic looking!!! i love their wagyu with bone marrow burger was to die for. The fattiness of the marrow made it so juicy. Fries were so crispy. Service was great even late night, they were all very attentive. Will def be back to try out more food!!!

Hoppy Hour beer! Bottle logic light lager and old stump red ale both so bomb!
    Rae Ann D.

Monday Hoppy hour, we were served right away! Vibe was chill bc it was slow but they still had tables/other guests. The place was clean and hipster for sure. The food was hands down so good! The fried pickles were crispy and delicious (my favorite) the nachos were perfect through too, one of the sauce has a bit of sweetness but the chopped peppers on top were amazing! Ryan was our bartender and he was very friendly and suggested other places for happy hour too, but we think Eureka still has the best one!

Have they changed their menu drastically or something? I used to get cheddar instead of American cheese because I’m lactose intolerant and it’s literally the only cheese I can eat. If that’s the case, then I don’t see the point in coming anymore.

They just changed which burgers are available. I'm pretty sure cheese options are all still there for the regular burger.

They've got indoor and outdoor seating and they seemed a touch understaffed for being a beautiful day. It was also a Tuesday lunchtime so maybe they weren't expecting it to be as busy as it was. We were able to prove the menu before we got seated. And our super friendly server came out and we were able to order right away. They've got a lunch special. That is a small personal pizza with a salad and we each got that. Salads came out first and I had the arugula salad, which was absolutely phenomenal. 10 of 10 would eat this every single day. The arugula was peppery and it was well dressed in a lemon vinaigrette type sauce. I am a fan of just plain lemon on mine, but this was delicious. My husband got a union salad, which is their specialty I guess. It's got colored carrots and some beets and some shallots. I thought the dressing was bland and it certainly needed salt and pepper. We asked for both and didn't get either. Our pieces came out and they were nice and woodfired. I feel like they could've been done just a little bit longer maybe a minute or two. The sauce was a lovely fresh type crushed tomato sauce. The cheese was nice and gooey and did not feel or taste like a package of processed cheese. Pepperonis were greasy, but in a real meat kind of way. I had to dab mine, but my husband just went to town on his. The pickled peppers is a pickled jalapeño. Big chunks of them. They certainly didn't skimp on any of the toppings. They were a little sweet and a little hot. Some of the big chunks were a little too sweet for my liking but overall, it was a nice flavor mix Also from a size standpoint, I thought the salad and pizza were very adequate for lunch at around $20 price point I asked for salt and pepper again as well as a side of ranch. This time we did get the salt and pepper as well as cheese and crushed red pepper. But we didn't get the ranch until we were leaving. The server did apologize and said he thought someone else was bringing it out but I pretty much deducted a star because we asked for a couple different things that never came. Overall, the service was super friendly, the ambience was nice for an outdoor lunch thought. I thought the menu looked delicious and there were several things I would like to come back and try and I would go back again.

It was so underwhelming. 2 eggs cooked differently, one over hard, one over easy, 5-6 potato pieces and the steak was thin, overcooked, and appeared to be a cheap cut of meat. A New York cut would have been great. Wife mentioned norms has better steak and eggs. I was meeting up with some girlfriends for a late lunch which it also happened to be during happy hours from 3-5pm. Both menus, regular or HH are available if you wanted the full options. It's in the downtown location of Claremont, a cute and quaint area which I've never been to. Street parking is available with 2 hours which we found out later that there's a parking lot behind the restaurant. Which shares with the surrounding businesses. When we arrived, the hostess seated us at one of the long booth along the side right opposite to the bar. Restaurant itself isn't that big compared to the other locations I've visited. It's pretty small and seemed a little compacted. You have the big booth to one side, hi top tables right across from it and then the bar counter. Also tables along the sides and front. It wasn't too busy when we arrived but did picked up a lot during the visit. Everyone was coming for happy hour. HH menu consisted of appetizers starting at 7.00, 8.00, 9.00 and a combo which is a burger and drink or beer for 16.00. Also drinks specials starting at 6.00, 7.00, 8.00, and 9.00 based on what you want. From draft beer to house wine to cocktails. There was a good selection on HH drinks. Food, a pretty decent selection in each of the tier. We started off with a couple of dishes to share before the main. The pretzels which come with three dipping sauce, quite nice and came pipping hot. The deviled eggs, came 5 to order with a chunk of bacon. I haven't had them in a while and they were quite tasty. Easy bite size eats. Think their know for their coconut shrimp which was nice. 6 nice big pieces of shrimp deep fried to a nice golden brown and accompanied by the dipping sauce. Highly recommend it. Of course the mozzarella sticks, plain and simple but nice. 6 pieces and served with ranch and marinara sauce. The spicy tuna with crispy rice. This could be a hit or miss on how it was prepared but it was quite tasty and nice. 5 piece I believe and the rice had a nice crunch but still soft inside. I like it that way versus it being overcooked and crunchy. Lastly the pepperoni pizza. It was quite big and they also offered a hot honey drizzle if you would like it added. It could be a full meal with the size. Loads of pepperoni slices on-top of the thin crust. Starters were great, m entrees ordered but we were getting fuller already. A couple of the protein bowl, Asian ahi salad with mixed greens and the poke bowl. They were all pretty nice and weren't too heavy after the sides. Ahi salad had nice pieces for fish with, mandarin, carrots, peppers, onion, tofu, peas sprouts, cucumber with a ginger miso vinaigrette. It was quite delicious. A nice summer salad that's an easy eat. Of course the poke bowl, simple but delicious as well. Rice, avocado, cucumber, picked onions, edamame, furikake and spicy aioli. And the Mediterranean protein bowl, one with chicken added. Couscous, feta, cucumber, garbanzo, tzatziki, tomatoes and pickle onions. All were fresh and delicious and perfect for a nice summer meal. HH drinks, there was selection of items ordered. The old fashion, a raspberry splash and a couple of other items. Everything was nice and our server was a doll. Very sweet and friendly, didn't remember his name. Everyone that came out with food was sweet when delivering. All very friendly. The service was great and we had a nice meal. Nice location, small but great.

We came on a weekend and it was super busy (as it should be honestly with how amazing the food and service are). We got the blackened salmon with penne pasta and baby potatoes, and the flat iron steak with bow tie pasta and herb brown rice. The steak was cooked perfectly medium. The bow tie pasta is served cold and has a vinegary flavor to it, definitely a distinct taste, but I personally loved it because I enjoy sour/vinegary flavors. I can see why it might not be everyone's favorite though, but I personally really enjoyed it. The salmon was also super flavorful and cooked perfectly. Same with the penne pasta and potatoes. Honestly everything was just made really well and good. For the sauce, we got their popular jalapeno garlic sauce and it paired well with absolutely everything. Needless to say, this place was really good from head to toe. I also got to meet the owner and he was super friendly too. I seriously wish they would open one closer to my area. Parking was really easy and the ambience was lively with sports playing all around the bar and plenty of seating.

I ordered blackened salmon with couscous as I saw the reviews that salmon is really good and garlic apple aioli to pair with. we find our own seats inside as it's hot outside, and waited for our food. as it turns out the salmon is pretty good, it's on the thin side but not too dry. lots of couscous that I couldn't finish the plate. garlic apple aioli pairs well with the dish too. my friend and her 12yo son ordered blackened tofu-+salad, and grilled shrimps+penne pasta. the tofu doesn't look very appetizing, and the salad is normal bowl size, not too big, compared to couscous and the pasta sides. the grilled shrimps comes on 1 screwer but looks pretty good as well. price is not too expensive, considering the inflation now. they do have a bar but we only got water. overall it's a relaxing place to catchup with friends, if you don't mind the music is on the louder side.

Super delicious, cooked perfectly. Service was efficient and there was plenty of indoor seating on this late Sunday evening. If you haven't tried the Claremont location, please do!

We were fine with it, and were given two menus and told to sit anywhere we wanted. After 15 minutes, no servers had come out to take drink orders or anything, so my boyfriend went inside to ask if someone could come take our order. I looked around the patio area and realized there were two other tables whose patrons were there before us, waiting for drinks and service, just like we were. One of them was fanning herself with the menu, as it was close to 100° outside. (There are no misters on the patio, just a slight breeze now and then. And, if you sit near the patio entrance, you should know that the huge dryer vents from the adjacent hotel are pushing hot air into the patio.) My boyfriend came back and said that he was told "someone will be out soon", and he noticed that all the servers were watching the soccer game inside. We waited another minute or so, and decided to leave and find another place for lunch. We were so glad we left...we ended up at Gus's BBQ across the way, and OMG...save yourself the trouble of the weak menu & non-existent service at The Back Abbey and walk over to Gus's. You won't regret it!

She was incredibly attentive and accommodating, especially since we were dining with a toddler. That level of service definitely made the meal even more enjoyable. For dinner, we ordered the Ribs & Two Meat Combo with Memphis Ribs, Jalapeño Cheddar Smoked Sausage, and Brisket, plus the Chicken & Two Meat Combo with Brisket, Original Smoked Sausage, and Southern Fried Chicken. Our daughter had the BBQ Chicken Kids Meal, and of course we couldn't leave without ordering the Cast Iron Cornbread. Everything was delicious, but a few items really stood out. The jalapeño jam served with the cornbread was absolute perfection, sweet with just the right amount of heat. The Jalapeño Cheddar Smoked Sausage was easily one of my favorites. The Southern Fried Chicken was incredibly crispy, and both my toddler and I couldn't get enough of the mac and cheese. Gus's offers great value for the quality of food you get. The portions are generous and we had no complaints when it came to flavor. Parking is easy thanks to the nearby parking structure. Most of the seating is on the patio, while the indoor dining room seemed fairly small. Even on a warm Father's Day evening, the outdoor seating was surprisingly comfortable. We'll definitely be back, and next time I'll be ordering that cornbread all over again.
