We had dinner here on our one night in Eureka, on our Pacific Northwest Road trip. The food was good. But you are packed in like a can of sardines and that makes it very loud. Not a date location or a place to go if you need to have an intimate conversation. Because it was so busy, our service was a little slow, but that is understandable when the crowds are so overwhelming. Portions are generous. We were traveling, so could not take our leftovers. But if you plan it right, you can definitely have lunch the next day.

I was visiting Eureka. I decided to try this restaurant. Restaurant gets pretty busy for weekdays. Service was great. We decided to try fried oysters, clam chowder as a starter. It was delicious. Then we had snapper puttanesca and sea grill fettuccine. It was very well, sauces were on point. They give a very good portion for every meal. We had to get a to go box. Definitely give it a try. It is an indoor dinner. It also has a bar area for seating. Plenty of parking available and you can also find street parking.

The good, service and ambience were equally exceptional. They have nice beverage and dessert options including after dinner drinks.

Beer battered Halibut fish taco- so delicious

We are traveling through Eureka & stopped at the Sea Grill for some good coastal fare. It did not disappoint! We were seated promptly, and enjoyed the quaint dining room- not too noisy & there was a nice partition between us the the table next to us. The menu had seafood, steak & chicken options as well as some vegetarian dishes. We ordered the fried calamari as an appetizer- it was the best calamari I've ever eaten! For dinner we both had the special for this evening - beer battered halibut fish tacos served with a mango salsa & a chipotle & cilantro type sauce on it. We also had a cup of chowder with dinner that was more "bowl sized" than cup, and equally delicious. Our server, Samuel, took good care of us, made great recommendations for drinks & even told us of some local live entertainment to go check out after we were done with dinner. We will definitely keep this place on our list of "must-eats" for the next time we are in Eureka!

This place has pretty decent food and the service by Louis was exceptional. Had crab cakes to start and they were very tasty. Ordered the halibut which came with house salad or clam chowder. Had the clam chowder which was very hearty, rich and full of clams. Shown is the halibut plate with rice. This plating reminded me of the way food was plated at a restaurant called Anthony's in the 1970s, especially with the side veggies. The ambiance was nice and glad we got in early as this restaurant filled up.

    Fish tacos, so delicious!

Salad has chicken peas and pickled beets.  Good solid side salad. The coleslaw is lacking flavor.  The fries are semi think cut but perfectly seasoned... Great Job. The clam cutlet is pounded clam then breaded and pan fried.  It's heavy on the breading but its also heavy on the flavor... thumbs up.    The fish and chips are pretty good too.  Taste like beer battered .. flaky and moist white fish (cod) I think inside a golden brown shell. I found this restauraunt on Yelp and we reserved it for my birthday dinner on a Saturday night. We sat by the window and had a beautiful view of the sunset and bay. Upon being seated we were served some bread with some whipped butter mixed with some sort of seafood I believed? I forgot, but the butter was delicious. Our first round of bread however, was average at best and was very dense and doughy. The next rounds of bread were significantly better though, so maybe there's an inconsistency with the way they bake their bread in-house. I ordered the seafood penne pasta and my boyfriend ordered the king salmon with risotto. Both were "specials" and were not on the menu. However after digging into reviews here, it seems they are not so much specials since both dishes have been served here for the past 7ish years. Seafood penne pasta: I would rate a 3/5, maybe a 2.5/5. The pasta itself was not al dente which was disappointing. The "star" of this dish was supposed to be the scallop, which was severely undercooked! It was super soft and mushy. The shrimp was alright...some were overcooked. The salmon was also dry. I think the only thing I really enjoyed was the mussels, clams, and the sauce. The sauce had some curry with a small kick to it. This dish was just okay. Escargot: We ordered as our appetizer, I'd give it a 3.5/5! The escargot was a little soft but paired wonderfully with the bread. Creme brûlée: 3/5. Our waitress kindly put a birthday candle on it for my birthday. :) I enjoyed it, and it was very custardy! The downside was that the sugar on top was too burnt. I can't speak much for my boyfriend's dish, I did have a bite of his salmon and it was alright, maybe a bit too salty. The service however was wonderful and our waitress was super kind and helpful. Maybe I would come back to try another dish if I'm back in the area.

That was such a great experience that I stopped in again on a similar road trip in 2019. Fast forward to 2026. My husband and I were taking that same route and made sure that Arcata and Salt were on the itinerary. I was looking forward to the amazing risotto I'd had in the past! I was disappointed to discover that the location, the vibe, and the menu have all changed. That said, we still enjoyed our meal. I ordered the Market Salad. It was fresh and the dressing was light and delicious. It was large enough to share. Not realizing how large the salad would be, my husband also ordered the calamari as an appetizer. It was cooked perfectly with a light breading and it wasn't not greasy at all. For our main course, we split the Salsiccia pizza. It was the perfect size for us to share, especially given the appetizers we had. The amount of toppings were on the sparser side, but that just might be the nature of that pizza. Side note on the service: Our server was friendly enough but she was not very familiar with the menu. I asked if I could substitute the lettuce in the Market Salad for romaine and she didn't think that was possible. I explained I didn't want field greens and/or big leaves and she assured me those were not used in the salad. She said she thought it was iceberg and it was chopped very fine. With that, I ordered the salad. When it arrived, it was actually bibb lettuce that was left in relatively large pieces. At least it wasn't field greens! In their new location, they have a great patio. If I were a local, I think this could be a great place to hang out and enjoy their crafty cocktails. But since I'm not, I don't think I'll be back to Salt.

The place was pretty busy at 8pm and we sat outside since we had our pup with us. (That was my fault for not reading the description well enough; I'm just accustomed to eating oysters chilled) For entree's, I went with the Polenta Veghie lasagna and my husband ordered the Italian Mac n cheese. There were only a few guests when the gates opened but wait times filled up fast as there was only one staff tending the taps and gift shop. We were second in line, so it wasn't much of a wait for us. I ordered a flight of five with regular ABVs (alcohol by volume) which included the iconic Downtown Brown, Harvest Wheat, Peanut Butter Chocolate Stout, Great White and Lost Coast Pilsner. I and the other patrons were bummed that the Indica IPA wasn't on tap so I ended up purchasing a six pack. I wanted a totally different variety of beers when we had dinner at LCB's restaurant a few nights before. The restaurant offers a flight of 6 on tap BTW. I'm more of a wine person when given a choice, but the tasting the brews of LCB was one opportunity I wasn't going to miss while I was here. I like IPA and wheat among the beers but ended up liking all of them. Even the dark stouts. Unlike, the restaurant, they only serve chips (unpacked) and salsa (sealed) here. My wife (designated driver) and son opted to get a taster of their root beer and a couple scoops of ice cream from the gift shop. We ended up purchasing a bright tie-dyed tee LCB tee and a fridge magnet.
