*Local Review* I have always loved the sea grill, but have never made a review. It's easily one of the TOP 5 fine dining restaurants in Humboldt County. Located in Eureka, very easy location to find. The parking can be challenging as you park on the street or happen to find a spot in the parking lot. Regardless of parking the food that comes from this kitchen is SOOO GOOD! last night we dined in for my husbands birthday and we were not disappointed. The service was very good, Thank you ladies (Server Katie) (Host Ava and Bussers Nichole and Hebbie) for serving us so well. The Kitchen put out some Fire Meals! View in pictures- we all finished our meals and our appetizers. The food though- left me wanting more. You will not be disappointed if you try anything from here. This is when it is fun to write a review of one of our dinning experince. Our desk clerk at our lodging took a chance and didn't recommend a chain resturant. The way her eyes lite up and when she said," If I was on vacation and wanted seafood I would go to the The Sea Grill". I knew we were on to something. We were greated warmly as we entered and our table was safely spaced away from other tables.( covid safety measures are still a constant companion). I started off with a1/2 dozen gems from the sea. It has been too long and were so cool and tasty. My entree was Petrale Sole. When Sole is prepared correctly it is light and flaky. Bingo the Chef nailed. Grilled to perfection with a liberal covering of Dore sauce. My wife went with one of the daily specials, Halibut Cakes and was equally happy with her entree choice. I can't say enough about our waitress,Katie. She guided us towards our choices and provided timely service without hovering. Came as a group of eight. We had the oysters, crab cakes, and calamari as appetizers. The crab cakes were great and had a nice texture, not dry there were two in an order. The calamari was good as well, the batter was nice and crisp. The oysters were okay, quite small tho, I believe there were five or six per plate. For an entree, I got one of the daily specials, the halibut fish and chips. It came with soup, fries, mixed vegetables, and three pieces of battered halibut. The chowder was good, not salty at all and had good seafood flavor. The fries were nice and crisp and the veggies were veggies. The fish was good. The battered crust was very crunchy and the fish was tender and flaky. I believe the special was around $26. The prices were a bit high, especially for fish and chips, but the food was pretty good. read more

I ordered this meal for my mother's birthday. We had never tried it. NO WAY Never again. The containers were filthy, they looked used. Greasy finger prints all over the salad containers. And the food was awful! My fish and chips were cold and soggy. The salad was good, hard to mess that up. The service was awful. They forgot my mother's steak, veggies and potatoes. When I called and spoke with Diane, twice, after realizing the steak wasn't there and then a call back to say the potato and veggies weren't there either. Diane was completely rude to me as if it were my fault. She basically hung up on me. We spent 189.00 dollars on the awful meal with totally rude service. I am not much of a complainer I rarely do this, but it ruined my mom's b day meal and I don't appreciate rude customer service. If you don't want to deliver then don't offer it. Please be better. Such a huge let down for my first time trying this restaurant. Hopefully others have a way better experience. And for their mistake I was treated very rudely instead of suggesting to make it better by adding a free dessert or adjust the meal price. Before I explain, I understand everyone's experience is different, here is mine. Sat at table for 5 minutes and were given a half glass each of water. Every other table had a full bottle. Our glasses sat empty until I finally asked for water. Oysters were not served on a bed of ice and were warm.. my kids buttered noodles looked like a ramen soup of melted butter.. we had to drain before she could eat. My girls halibut was served with the same buttery mess. Our soup, which was supposed to come with/before the meal came after the meal by 10 minutes. $$$ ridiculous! read more

A very good variety of fish is always on the menu. Every night they also have great specials, both seafood as well as beef. The Sea Grill is a tried and true fine dining establishment in Eureka. We're in the middle of a pandemic, and still they do not disappoint! Delicious foods, impeccable service! This evening we tried the ahi poke (lunch)... the jalepeño slivers gave it just the right kick. We tried the fish and chips... the fish melted in our mouths, and the house cut French fries were crisp. Scallops, which I never eat, were incredible in a butter wine sauce. Beer battered onion rings and prawns, yum! And the chocolate mousse was divine! Our server was Samuel... one of Eureka's finest! Being in hospitality myself (events), I appreciate exceptional service. What sets Samuel apart from other servers is that he's made waiting his profession... a refined craft... his artistry. Throughout our dining experience I observed him with other guests. He is quick with his tasks, and offers the utmost unrushed presence with his guests with the deepest spirit of service. What a awesome place!! They have a bar on the side that the second I walked I felt at home! The two girls (this morning I forgot their names) are so warm and friendly. That means a lot to a traveling sales person! They recommended the macadamia Inuit halibut in lobster sauce and it was so good!!! On a long drive from WA to SoCal, we decided to stop in Eureka for a night. Looked online at a few dinner options and drove by one and decided to explore more in the area. Came across Sea Grill and it was fantastic! Great service, drinks and the appetizers and mains were delicious. Tonight was my first time here and it was AMAZING. I got a macadamia nut encrusted halibut with lobster sauce special and it was out of this world, tasty and perfectly cooked! It was a bit of a wait but I didn't mind at all, the staff kept me updated on the food's status (the was a sudden rush for this tasty special) and made sure to check in on me - being seated by myself near the bar I didn't feel neglected at all! We paid $60 for hardly any food and it was the wrong order to go. I received half an order of chowder, fries when I ordered a baked potato, and not even crab to feed one person even though it's supposed to be a pound. We didn't get any utensils either and when I called to tell them the mistake they just stayed silent and told me they'd be closed for the next few days for a reimbursement. 3 stars average? Really, Yelp? We wandered into here after a long drive from the bay area. Needed some good food, and since Eureka is a seaside town, why not seafood? Place is extremely busy. We waited for around 30 minutes and the bartender was super friendly. When we finally got our table though, it took a while for the waitress to take our order. We got the grilled artichoke appetizer special, clam chowders, dungeness crab fettucine and grilled salmon with baked potato on the side. The artichoke was lathered in their special sauce while grilling, and wow, what an appetizer! It's gotta be one of the most flavourful grilled artichokes I've had. The red pepper aioli they serve on the side is almost redundant. The clam chowders are pretty decent. Thick and creamy. The mister really really liked his baked potato that came with the salmon, and my crab fettucine is piled high with crab meat, not to mention that it's super delicious. It feels like a very old school American place -- loads of food, rich and creamy sauces. If you like that, you'll like this place. One caveat though, I know they're busy, but the waitresses kept telling you about it. Sure, I understand, but however busy you are, I don't care, I just want a good experience. I have been here a handful of times over the last few months, seated outdoors. The staff is attentive and kind, and service is quick for being outdoors during Covid. On one of the trips I brought my mom, and she LOVED it. The seafood chowder is excellent (always arriving HOT), and each time I've had the broiled oyster appetizer - super yummy. I've tried a number of items from the menu and have like all of them, with my favorite being the petrale sole. I only have a couple more weeks here, but am definitely going to stop by again before I leave! This is a very nice restaurant. The decor is old fashioned but the service is amazing! The staffs were so attentive to me, always making sure that my water is filled at all times. Now, let's talk about the foods. Okay, I admit. I went rogue today. Sea Grill means seafood, not steak. But I justify that the word grill could mean grilling a steak so I ordered the ribeye instead of halibut or salmon. The ribeye was about 14 ounces and it was huge. I could not finish it. They cooked it medium rare. That was exactly what I wanted. The outside fat was charred and burnt, and yet the temperature was still medium rare. My only gripe was the fact that the burnt fat tasted like it was lightly soaked in gasoline. You can smell the gasoline fume. Maybe their gasoline powered grill left an odor. It would have been more tolerated if it was charcoaled. The salad was okay. The dressing were nothing special. The key lime pie was excellent. Granted, I am a sucker for key lime pie. Every key lime pie tastes good to me. Overall, I'd I'm back here, I'd definitely come back and stick to the seafood menu. For #Thinsulun fans, there are many green light options. read more

The customer service here was epic for humboldt standards. All staff was attentive and catered extensively to the customer. Our waiter, James was cordial, friendly and clear in his menu interpretations. The appetizers were excellent, from the Oysters Rockefeller, the clams and the calamari. Shortly after appetizers and salads, the dinners came out. A great cadence of service. Fish was non-greasy and all fish lightly flaked with just a touch of the fork. The dinner ambiance was warm and open. Though other parties were seated near you, the layout allowed for easy conversations and discussions.
