Since I had a doctor's appointment close by, we dropped by this Euro Pane located across from the Paseo Colorado. I kind of had to bully the hubby in there because he paused at the door. "Aw man, is this one of your cute places?" Ordered him a roast beef sandwich on sourdough with the horseradish on the side. That stopped the grumbling! I had an eggsalad open-face sandwich on multigrain which was really good. Whatever that tomato-y spread on the bread was, I liked it. It was too much to eat in one sitting, so the hubby happily volunteered to finish it off. Topped off the lunch with a sea-salt caramel macaron each. I never thought I'd do more than shrug at an egg salad sandwich, but Euro Pane's enters my personal Sandwich Hall of Fame. I ordered it on rosemary currant bread, and it was out of control. It was served open-faced, and with good reason - there was no way that mountain of egg could be contained between two pieces of bread. The egg salad was perfectly cooked, with large wedges of egg white cooked supple and not hard boiled. The yolks were creamy and rich, and the eggs were balanced by a bed of greens, a sprinkle of chives, and a bright, tart sun-dried tomato pesto. It was truly dreamy, and I want to eat it again. I went for lunch two days in a row during the bar, and Euro Pane was really the best part of that miserable experience. The second day, I ordered the salmon sandwich, though I was tempted to just get the egg salad again. The salmon came with poached leeks, red onion, and creme fraiche, served open-faced on flatbread. It was delicious, though not quite at the level of the egg salad. I liked the delicate leeks, and the salmon was high quality. I was tasting the onion for hours, but I suppose that's what happens. I also got breakfast here on the last day of the bar - yes, I went for breakfast and lunch - and my boyfriend and I shared a whole wheat croissant, a blueberry muffin, and a raspberry danish. I also sampled bits of raspberry brioche and banana chocolate muffin by the register. Every pastry was fantastic. The croissant was buttery with a great flake, and both muffins exhibited a moist crumb with just enough sweetness. I enjoyed both raspberry pastries as well. I also had a raspberry macaron for dessert one lunch, and it was lovely. I tried several macarons at the other location, and I don't think you can get better without leaving the country. I actually prefer this newer Euro Pane to the original. It has better setting, and clear charming labels describing each pastry. The service is friendly and efficient, which is crucial during the busy lunch hour. If I lived nearby I would eat here at least once a week. So I have been going to the other location for a while now. I have always liked the food but sometimes the service in the other location has been a bit underwhelming. I tried the new location twice now and an individual named Travis has helped me both times. He is very personable and really helped answer questions and provide excellent customer service both visits. I absolutely love the J Gold suggested egg salad sandwich and I get it on olive bread. Their coffee is always satisfying to me. Chocolate cookies there are awesome as are many of the pastries. This new location is larger, nicer, has a better selection of pastries and it is just a little closer to my office too. Yes parking here might be bad news but I've either walked here or been on my bike so not an issue. I will be there again soon for sure. read more

After doing the Awesome 80's Run in Pasadena for the second time, I decided it would be best to hit up Euro Pane again for the second time. I walked in with my Batman shirt and cape. The person helping me asked if it would be okay to put my name down as 'Batman.' I couldn't say no. lol Ya'll remember my previous review for Euro Pane? Love the macrons here. Their flavors change daily so if you're looking for a specific flavor you might want to call ahead. Parking is annoying but hey you're in Pasadena so what do you expect. Service is quick and efficient even if the lines are long so don't let that scare you. They seem busiest during the lunch hour rush. read more

I LOVE Euro Pane's open face egg sandwich. Noticed this new location on Colorado and decided to come in for a quick breakfast with the BF. BF ordered the Breakfast wrap with salsa - looked like a breakfast burrito! He complained that there was too much egg vs. bacon! LOL. I thought it tasted fine! Very thin wrap filled with fluffy scrambled eggs, topped with cheese and bits of bacon. The salsa added the perfect tartness! I got the breakfast sandwich - which contained egg whites, spinach, and cheese. The english muffin was very big - crispy on the outside and fluffy in the inside. Egg white + spinach? Yes healthy.. and a little bland. But I thought it was good with a dash of salt/pepper! All in all I appreciated the friendly service, clean atmosphere, generous condiments, and cheap prices! The perfect spot for weekend brunch! I know there's another location a few blocks down that's supposedly better, judging from reviews, but this place is conveniently close to Paseo and Old Town Pasadena. I first came here for the macarons but after finding out that they served Croque Monsieur here, I was sold. My boyfriend ordered the famous Egg Salad Sandwich while I ordered the Croque Monsieur, macarons and strawberry tea cake. For those of you who haven't had the Croque Monsieur yet, this is definitely a must-try if you're looking to dine here. A crisp sandwich, toasted with sweet and savory ham and topped with ooey gooey melted cheese, this makes for a hearty mid-day meal and will definitely fill you up fast. I didn't try the egg salad sandwich since I'm not the biggest fan of boiled eggs. Yeah, yeah, eggs are awesome and I'm crazy for not being in love with them like everyone else. I've heard it all before. But while my boyfriend liked his sandwich, he likened it more to the fruity jam spread on top eaten with the egg salad. Sounds like a strange combination, but I guess it works. However, he did wish he ordered my Croque Monsieur instead and was estatic when I shared mine with him. However, the star of Euro Pane Bakery would have to be their macarons. For $1.85 a pop, this is a bit more expensive than average for macarons but they are well worth it. The macaron shell has the perfect slight crisp on the outside with a moist, gooey inside. And the ganache/cream in the middle is incredibly fluffy, complementing the macaron itself. So far, I've tried salted caramel, mocha, and green tea. And for all you pumpkin spice lovers, this place has delicious pumpkin macarons that even I, who doesn't care much for pumpkin spice (don't kill me), very much enjoyed it. So whenever I feel like brunch instead of lunch, I'll skip the heavy lines at other typical brunch places and come here instead. I mean, I suppose if you're considering small matters like your health and your cholesterol, the argument can sometimes be made that there is, in fact, such a thing as too much egg. But if, like me, you are a little selfish/blissfully reckless and choose to indulge your body and soul in some choice vices, the answer is always more egg. Cue Euro Pane Bakery with the most awesome Egg Salad Sandwich I've ever had the pleasure of eating. A not-so-small mountain of egg salad is served open-faced on such wonderful bread choices as Olive and Rosemary Currant. I'd heard stories of this sandwich and expected it to stand up to its reputation, but I was not expecting to love it quite as much as I did. The eggs in the salad are perfectly medium-boiled-- truly textbook, with whites that are just set and yolks that take on a creamy, almost jelled consistency. It's yolk porn for any egg slut. Mix a whole lot of that good stuff with some greens, a delicious sun-dried tomato spread, and some freshly baked rosemary currant bread and you have the makings of a truly spectacular sandwich. I'd eat this daily if I was confident it wouldn't contribute to a shortened life. I wish I'd stopped it at the sandwich because if I had, Euro Pane would warrant a full 5 stars, no doubt. But I just had to get the Cobb Salad w/ chicken, which was lackluster. Not terrible, but supremely forgettable and way too expensive. Having already given credit to the first Europane for reinstituting daily (and some times "double daily") dessert into my gullet, of course I was expecting nothing less from their newer location. I would say parking is more or less equivalent to the first Europane ('cept there are more options for metered at #2). The place can definitely accommodate more peeps, so if you want more of a sit-down experience, #2 might be a better choice. Some stuff is different-- take the Olive bread (which we adore). It's different; #2 boasts using "green olives" and I have to say, it does change the flavor of the sammie (both very good). There are more "pre-made" sammies-- but desserts and loaves of bread available seem somewhat comparable. Also, I don't know how accurate this is-- but the few times I've been at this location, there have been guys working there who are *clearly* "not from around here"-- lending itself nicely to the theme of European-ess. ;D But ultimately, what it boils down to for me is how geographically close am I to one or the other + how HUNGRY am I at that moment?? read more

Be sure to tell your friends if you are meeting up with them at Euro Pane to ensure they end up at the right one! My friend & I showed on Saturday morning around 10am for brunch at this location. Two things: some of their sandwiches (including the famous egg salad sandwich) isn't available until after 11am. and, no macarons in sight. Felt slightly bad because I lured my friend to this locale for brunch due to macarons & the egg salad sandwich. The second part was easily remedied since we crossed the street to shop for a little and came back also hoping for more macarons...no such luck. Anyways, onto the food.... - Egg salad sandwich ($7.75): Served open-faced. 1st few bites, super delicious. They really don't skimp on the hard-boiled eggs at all! I think there has to be at least 4-5 eggs on there. Good for a protein fix but a little overwhelming in taste to finish solo. Even though the portion size didn't look ginormous, it is sneakily deceiving because of how much eggs you are consuming in one sandwich. I loved the bed of greens + the sun dried tomato paste on the bread which helped to balance the flavor profile. - Smoked Salmon Sandwich ($9.25): Served open-faced and good portion sized. There was a lot of greens on the bread (not that I mind, but sometimes when you take a bite of just veggies with no dressing, can taste a little bland) with a generous spread of smoked salmon. I finally tried the Famous Egg Salad! How would I describe it? It's like eating a dozen roughly chopped deviled eggs on a slice of toast. This sandwich WILL fill you up. It's really good but I felt a bit eggs-overload. I only had half and was completely egged out. And I LOVE eggs. You get to choose what kind of bread you want for your sandwich so I opted for the olive bread since I figured it'd pair well with the eggs, which it did! Except my bread was WAY over-toasted and nearly burnt on the edges. Next time, I'll probably ask them not to toast the bread at all since I prefer egg salad on soft bread anyway. I also tried the almond chicken sandwich, which was decent. It's a hearty, healthy option since it's filled with chicken, greens, and avocado. Lots of avocado! I didn't like their iced coffee at all though. I thought it tasted pretty dull and watered down with an unpleasant acidity. Roast Beast sandwich beats Egg Salad sandwich!!! Euro Pane makes all their meats and breads in-house, which is why their Roast Beef sandwich on sourdough is INCREDIBLE!!!!!! We ordered roast beef on sourdough for $9.25 and an egg salad on rosemary bread for $8.25 and split them. For me, the egg salad was very well made, although a little on the bland side, and the portion was generous. But the roast beef was amazing! Great quality real beef, NOT salty and NOT processed, accented by horseradish sauce, lettuce, tomato and onions, on fresh sourdough. The onions were flavored somehow, maybe pickled, and the entire sandwich was exciting to the last bite. If you don't like horseradish you can ask for regular mayo. On a previous visit I had the excellent turkey sandwich, made with real turkey off the bird. Euro Pane has great coffee, and I like the unflavored unsweetened iced green tea. So I went to the original Europane a couple weeks ago and go to visit this new location the past weekend. It looks newer and has a large community table which looks liek it could seat like 12 people at least in the center, which was nice. Menu's are different, there is a special weekend menu at this location which includes: french toast, salmon eggs benedicts, and a few other things. Me and my friends we got the famous egg sandwich, roast beef, and salmon eggs benedits. I eggs benedict were really good, probably my favorite of the 3, although the roast beef sandwich is a close second. I came here wanting to try the newer of the two locations and walked away feeling... well nervous... In a part of town infamous for hiring rent-a-cops to bust people for parking infractions, I was particularly scared to leave my car in a parking spot around the corner that had a disabled parking meter; it didn't accept my quarter. Although not really EuroPane's fault, I find the parking immediately near the store to be challenging... Yeah I know, some people park at the Paseo parking across the street and get parking validated at Gelsons, but it's kind of a hassle for such a small amount of time invested. Nevertheless, the newness, spaciousness, and airiness of this location beats the snot out of the older location. There is a large communal table in front of the breads that is very inviting... Anyway the croissants are one of the best that I've had, right up there with Bouchon, better than Le Pain Quotidien or Love Birds. On this occasion, for breakfast, I had the Morning Bun. The people behind the counter were congenial and heated it up for me without any problems. We came here for breakfast and luckily there was no line. Cashier was nice and food came out pretty quick. Egg salad sandwich $9 - Eggs were soft boiled and cooked perfectly! Creamy, soft, chunky, and piled perfectly high on top of a fresh bed of salad. We chose wheat bread and it had some type of tomato paste spread on the bread, which in my opinion, was the perfect way to bring the sandwich together! You can easily share with 2 people and I liked how it was light and not too heavy. Quiche spinach $8 was good and had the right amount of fluff. I live walking distance from both locations on Colorado, but this is the only location I will go to...the one down the street is not nearly as nice. I've been to Euro Pane Bakery a handful of times, most recently with the parentals. EPB consistently delivers solid breakfast and lunch items, but I think the secret to their success is the variety of fresh bread they sell and use in most of their dishes. Egg Salad Sandwich - This open-faced sandwich is massive and piled high with delicious mustardy egg salad, but it's the olive bread that makes it memorable. You can request other types of bread, this just happens to be more favorite. I can never finish it in one sitting, so I get two meals out of it. Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon - Poached eggs were perfectly cooked, but this benedict is prepared sans hollandaise sauce, which I missed. Still very good, but again, without the bread it would be otherwise somewhat forgettable. On a positive note, I've just recently gained the willpower to make an EPB stop without grabbing a macron or two to go. They are nearly the size of my palm, but they're so good I can still manage to eat two or three! I still always make a point to treat myself to one of their Almond Milk Lattes though. The bread's texture was pretty good, crunchy and not too soggy from the eggs. It was good...but not amazingly good. I loved the random pastries I picked up -- not sure of the names, but one was a raspberry/orange (I think) scone and another was this poppyseed twist [my fave]. I could taste the buttery goodness on the twist. It was so good that I didn't want to even think about how many calories came in each bite. Euro Pane Bakery is a must when you are in the Pasadena area. It gets busy during the breakfast hours, so Michelle K. and I went in the afternoon to avoid all the chaos. When this place is not overstuffed with people, it actually is a great place to have a quiet serene lunch. First off, I adored the decor at this new location. I am in LOVE with their wooden tree table bench right in the middle of the restaurant. It is unique and rustic like a lodge or cabin. The see through glass and the rest of their tables and chairs bring a more modern look, so everything fits perfectly. I ordered the smoked salmon sandwich. It was a WINNER.. and I was not the only one that enjoyed it. I looked around at what others were stuffing their face into and was not surprised that Smoked Salmon seemed to be the choice at hand. This place is famous for the Egg Salad because it was featured on the Food Network. A lot of people seemed to agree. I have not had it yet since I am not a big egg fan. Anyways the smoked salmon is perfectly sliced and smoked. The dressing on top of it was light and not overpowering. With a little bit of greens, red onions, capers, on top of a flat wheat this was the meal to beat. To top off the meal a couple of macaroons did not hurt! You cannot go wrong with any of their flavors. My personal favorite is the pistachio macaroon!! The mousse cream was sooooo light and fluffy I can just eat a bowl of it all by itself! I did go here for a short visit again to pick up another sandwich. I needed to make sure Eurpo Pane can delivery more than once. I ordered the Chicken sandwich was hummus, spices, on rosemary currant bread.My friend got the pulled pork and was in love it! He enjoyed the spiciness of the dish, unlike other pulled pork sandwiches. We shared a quiche like dish and was perfectly cooked and light. Sorry to report that I was far far from being impressed by Euro Pane's signature egg salad sandwich...was my expectations too high due to the hype? Perhaps. Don't get me wrong, nothing was bad. They were quite good, but I feel like there are tons of egg salad sandwiches and brunch entrees that I've had else where which are just as good. I agree with others, egg salad were super rich and CHUNKY! There were more yokes than white, so if you're watching your cholesterol... I suggest you turn the page right about now. I happen to have no problems consuming egg yoke so I didn't mind at all. However, it was the bread that bothered me. They were way too hard and way too hearty, there is not a bit of a chew... borderline cardboard-like. If you favor getting your grease on as the brunch theme (say big sides of hash brown and thick juicy bacon/sausage), Euro Pane is not for you. I've heard so much about Euro Pane and their "egg salad sandwich" that I had to give it a try since I was around the area. Boy did they not disappoint me. I think I had all the proteins I needed for the next two days or so after having that egg sandwich. It was super duper filled with I say at least 4-5 whole eggs. Keep in mind it's an open-faced sandwich so don't expect to look like a traditional egg sandwich. I had my egg salad sandwich with Orangina and it was quite refreshing. The decor inside is comfortable for the eye. I would sit inside and just simply enjoy a cup of joe one of these days. Parking.. I really don't know where you can park. I assume you can park inside the parking structure of Paseo and just walk over (since it's across from the Paseo). The French Macarons looks delicious but i didn't get one to try. This is my second time for get cafe . Yesterday I got just one macaroon before I go to the work. That was really huge and perfect sweet! It is $ 1.85 /each !!! And I was really happy to try out. then I come back - just ... Little disappointed. Cafe latte? First time try -Just like Starbucks. Nothing special . and bread? This is way too much Sugar. I got 3 bits and drinks full of small latte. Still I cant taste my latte... Ah. Just like American food . Too much sugar and rich sauce. If you care about health, this place is not good enough for you. Maybe I will get macaroon sometimes , not food anymore. read more

I'll try them once again to see if I can go back to rating them a three star or more and keep them on my lunch list (since I work nearby), but after today's lunch, I was disappointed. I had the egg salad sandwich on the cranberry walnut bread. I thought the egg "salad" part was the ingredients you mix with the egg, but there appeared to be nothing mixed with the egg, merely pieces of boiled egg all broken up on (apparently) undressed lettuce atop a very small piece of bread with blackened crust. I couldn't make out any sweet cranberry flavor, only a flavor of sun-dried tomato (?) as there appeared to be a thin, yet still dry, spread over the bread. I noticed some chives but with no moisture to hold them to the egg or salad, they ended up with the dry bread crumbs on the plate. What I love about a good egg salad sandwich is how all the ingredients blend together, but this was like eating pieces of egg, pieces of salad, and pieces of bread. Even when I speared all three together, which took work (particularly cutting the brittle toast), it added up to a very bland mouthful. Maybe a little salt and pepper would have helped, but I've never been in the habit of adding that myself since I typically trust the chef to season the food. Unfortunately I feel like that was a wasted lunch out. I think I had a decent salad there some time ago. But this woman can't survive on salads alone. Solid 3 stars IMHO, $9 for a sandwich is fairly pricey, but the portion size is pretty big. I am not a HUGE fan of egg salad sandwich, but it was delicious!!! I highly recommend sharing this with someone since there is probably 6-8 eggs in each sandwich. I really appreciate the bread--olive bread was delicious! I would skip the macaroons--they weren't that good. Overall, I would skip their entire pastry section and go for the sandwiches. Yes, I would come back :) FYI: Very casual venue; Order and pay at the counter, then you find a seat, and the wait staff will bring the food to your table. Self service. We ordered the croque madame which list as 10.75 on the menu, when we placed the order it charged us 13.75. We pointed this out the the cashier and she said the menu had the incorrect price. She still charged us the 13.75 and did not offer to correct it which is pretty irritating since $3.00 is kind of a big difference. They also never brought out my husbands eggs Benedict, by the time they realized they had forgotten it, My kids and I were almost finished with our breakfast so we told them to forget it and just refund us, he ended up just nibbling on everyone else's left overs. I was bothered that they never came to let us know about their mistake and that they never offered any compensation for the incorrect pricing or forgetting an item we ordered. The second Europane location is everything the first location isn't - spacious, new, modern, and stylized. But what I love most about Europane - the baked goods - is exactly the same. There is just more of it. Tons of macarons, premade sandwiches and salads for lunch and a generous display cakes filled with everything to tempt your eyes and stomach. My favorites are still the open-faced egg salad sandwich and the seasonal cranberry walnut tart in Autumn. read more

A cute bakery cafe in Pasadena. Great location, very busy street makes it hard to find parking. Street if you have luck, or the parking structure across the street where you need to get validation from the mall merchandise to get 90 min free parking. Bakery is great. I tried their blueberry muffin. Delicious. Also a custard pie, very buttery. But coffee is just okay. I also tried their famous egg salad sandwich, which I think it is just okay. There's a lot of eggs. Very heavy after half way through. The toast is good though. Too much egg in my opinion. And also we got a croque madame. It was soooo heavy, Too much cheese and ham. Too greasy that I could only have one bite. But maybe it's just me. I think I will just stick to the bakery in future. read more

Temporarily closed due to the pandemic. Sign on the front door says that they will open again once restrictions are lifted. Great place for pastries (the macarons are very nice) and quiche once they are back up and running. read more

I've never had anything but great experiences at Euro Pane :) First off, yes. Get the egg salad on rosemary currant bread because it is as good as you hope it will be. Next, ALL the baked goods rock. The blueberry brioche is the bigass custard-filled round flat bread thing. It's good. The chocolate tart has a dreamy texture and a crust that crumbles the way crust should. The whole wheat currant scone is not too sweet and has a pleasantly light flavor, but is sprinkled with sugar to remind you it's not healthy. The macarons are a good size, I'm guessing 2 inch diameters. Pumpkin is my favorite flavor, but they never seem to have that early in the morning :( Hazelnut, pistachio, and mocha are all excellent as well. Sea salt caramel has a slightly different filling texture, but is pretty well-made and doesn't seem as gooey as the salted caramel at Lette. Other than the egg salad sandwich, Euro Pane has a good selection of other salty foods. I like the portobello mushroom sandwich with walnut pesto. It's cold and pre-made, but the flavors are so strangely fresh and vibrant. Also, there's a generous helping of feta cheese, which I love.
