In need of fast breakfast and in town for only few hours, Yelp again comes to the rescue. Europane hit the spot for location (close to the hotel-check!), quick service (another check!), and delicious food (check 3x!). We walked in around 9:30 and got in line. As with other similar business, you order at the counter and they bring the food out. Unfortunately they were out of the breakfast wraps already, so we went with egg white/feta breakfast sandwich (good and huge) and some standard pastries such as croissant, English muffin (the biggest i saw EVER) and macaroons.Add a couple of coffees and that was a wrap. The service was polite and efficient, but not too personal. If you are in downtown Passadena and just want to grab something to eat in the morning that won't take more than few minutes I highly recommend Europane. But if you have to be somewhere at certain time I'd recommend to order from the counter. We had to wait more than we expected for the sandwich/muffin and because they were out of wraps, I rate Europane 4 stars. I need to reverse engineer their savory bacon and cheese muffin with a hard boiled egg in the center. It was absolutely delicious with the chewy warm interior and the crusty top. Just the right amount of salt and the bit of parsley added a little bit of that earthy green flavor since there's a lot of richness to that muffin. Today with my sister in tow and looking for a primo loaf of french sourdough we happened upon Europane after we saw Bohemian Rhapsody (me for the second time, her for the first) at the Arclight in Pasadena. In fact you can see Europane from the theater. It was raining like a you know what all day today and so i needed to throw together a meal for us and needed a loaf of sour dough for garlic/cheese bread. Trying to buy a real sour dough (that made with a sour dough starter and not with vinegar) from a "Euro" gave me pause and then i remembered that it is written that sour dough or leavening of bread with a "spoiled" dough starter began in ancient Egypt along with the production of beer. So i thought: hmmm. either this bakery is owned by am Egyptian or the sour dough process made its way via the Romans and Greeks to Europe...which of course it did. (ok, yes. i wayyyy overthought this!) So i took a deep breath and out of a pouring rain, i entered the cool, calm and dry environs of Europane, We purchased: Loaf of Sour Dough A Lemon Bar Brownies The Europane version of Sour Dough gives me the bread tingles. The loaf we bought was slightly sour and majorly delicious and crusty yet the interior was soft and pillowy yet firm: the kind of bread that is delicious without butter or spread or anything really. I eventually turned this into garlic butter toast and we glommed onto this as it accompanied the ham hock soup beans i made yesterday. The Lemon Bar filling was delicious though the taste and texture was more like lemon curd rather than a lemon meringue pie filling. The dough itself was unusual in that it was a cross between pie crust and cake. Yo be honest this is nothing like a so called normal Lemon Bar in that the dough was not sweet at all. Interesting interpretation for sure. As a positive the lemon was flavor forward and the sugar level was in the background which i consider a positive. The Brownies were of the fudge variety with an emphasis on chocolate chunks than on cake. The chocolates used are of a very high quality as the flavor was natural and seemingly without artificial flavorings. I love Europane, I'm probably here every other weekend. The bread is good, the pastries are good, and if you get breakfast I highly recommend the quiche or the spinach feta egg sandwich it's very filling and delicious. Their coffee is pretty standard, so I would recommend getting the drink from elsewhere tbh. But they do fresh squeezed orange juice which is bomb. read more

Yesterday my husband and I had breakfast here and were really impressed with the food. They have a nice variety of pastries and sandwiches available and also prepare fresh ones. He had an excellent bacon breakfast wrap and a really nice lady at the counter custom made a tasty heated ham and cheese on croissant for me. I've yet to try some of their other food items but I wouldn't be surprised if they're top notch. Came here during Friday lunch hours. Although we tried to snatch the last breakfast sandwich, we encountered only the lunch options. We ordered the BLTA lunch special, Mediterranean sandwich, and the Seared Chicken Sandwich. All of the sandwiches and portions were a lot larger than expected and super scrumptious. I would definitely recommend the sandwiches on the brioche bread since the bread is so loose and buttery. The cashier and person who took the order is really friendly and helpful. Street parking for 2 hours, sundays free. This is a great European style bakery in Pasadena, just a few blacks own from their sister bakery. This bakery is a lot bigger! There's a small outdoor seating and there several tables inside as well as a large hipster looking wooden table for a nice food photo. When I came, they sold out of all their best sellers.. which makes sense. I tried the mocha macaron, which was AMAZING. It was actually fudgey inside and has a lot of filling, which I loved! It was $2.25. Pretty pricey but worth the try. I also tried the lemon tart but it was alright. The crust was too flaky and thick, which took up half the tart. Turkey was good, but no Dijon mustard on the sandwich, and the ciabatta was like grocery store pillow ciabatta. I've been here several times and the first few times I ate here I loved it! They had this amazing sweet potato sandwich that was creamy and tasty and delicious. I also tried an open faced sandwich with prosciutto that was also very good. But I just went and they said they've removed the Sweet Potato Sandwich from the menu and so I opted for a simple breakfast wrap with feta. However, it turned out to be a disappointment. I know it's meant to be simple, but it was beyond bland and it had very little fetta. The egg was fine but just egg, nothing special about it, and to top it off, it came with a few egg shells inside which made the chewing very uncomfortable. I have now had a smattering of the EPB menu and it's all been outstanding (when I stick to what I know!). The macarons always impress the person I'm gifting them to (and not just because of their size!), the egg salad on olive bread is served open faced and then promptly shoveled into my open face, the breakfast wrap with salsa has the flourest of tortillas (leaves the residue on your fingers) and the salsa definitely brings some life to the otherwise simple on-the-go bfast option (that they tend to run out of pretty early during the weekdays), and the almond chicken and seared chicken sandwiches are a crowd pleaser (the almond one being easier to eat because the seared falls apart pretty instantly, unless you get a baguette-type bread. The service is as friendly as can be (and super efficient at getting you in and out of the line), and I often see folks come in and the staff will greet them by name and roll call out their order, so clearly EPB does a stellar job of retaining loyal customers that are hard-pressed to try out other local joints. Items that I feel lukewarm about: The watermelon summer salad is refreshing, but the olives, balsamic, and watermelon aren't the most amazing combo. The breakfast sandwich on the gargantuan English muffin lacks any real flavor, but if you're looking for something light and you LOVE English muffins, then it might be for you. What a cute little spot to grab lunch! I first heard of Euro Pane from a friend who brought over some salted caramel macarons and have been wanting to check the place out. They have 2 locations in Pasadena, this location is across the street from the Paseo Colorado shopping center which is a great place to park as well. They offer free 90 minute parking and have validations machines around the center (Macy's, Gelsons, and one at the top of the escalators leading to the parking garage). Their salted caramel macarons are delicious. They are on the bigger side and costs $1.85 which is cheaper & bigger then Bottega Louie's macarons. I still think Bottega Louie's salted caramel macarons are the best but this one is a close second. For lunch I decided to try the Egg Salad Sandwich which seemed to be popular amongst the yelpers. Once I added a little salt and pepper it was perfect! The chunks of eggs were quite big, I believe they cut the egg into quarters so I did have to use a knife and fork. The bread it came on pretty much made the dish! I'm not sure what type it was but I loved it! It does get quite crowded for lunch. There was a contestant from Top Chef Dessert sitting next to us. It sounded like she was planning to open her own bakery and was there to check out the layout and how to run a successful bakery cafe. This is such a cute cafe to have brunch in! Among all the shopping and entertainment around old town Pasadena, it is nice to relax and reflect with a good cup of mocha. Their food is carefully crafted and come out Instagram perfect (: Although everyone raves about their egg salad, I went for some more traditional brunch options. Mocha: I love a rich mocha full of chocolate goodness and although there wasn't any fancy latte art, I loved every sip of it. Almond milk hot chocolate: chocolate lovers dream Eggs Benedict: a weekend special. At first, I wasn't too sure about the cranberry and smoked salmon combo but it turned out amazing! The bread (not English muffin) was toasted perfectly, topped with a thin layer of cranberry sauce, smoked salmon, perfectly poaches eggs and amazing hollandaise sauce. Everything came together perfectly and the cranberry sauce lightened the dish making it that much more enjoyable. Croque Monsieur: fancy French ham and cheese sandwich was juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. It was good overshadowed by the eggs Benedict. After stuffing my our faces at Corfu, the besties HAD to have macaroons and she demanded we come here. This place is across the street from Paseo, you can't miss it! It is now focused on being a cafe not a patisserie The delicious cakes, pastries and expensive breads I used to love buying have tasted awful over the past few years. I also bought a tuna sandwich recently, which are also expensive and something I used to love. It was terrible. It was dry, salty and too pickled from the capers. It tasted like it had been made days ago and recycled. Where is the love and care that used to go into all the food? I used to eat those sandwiches every week and they were always delicious. Well worth the cost. I'm pretty shocked Sumi is okay with the quality of her food dropping so low from what it used to be. I will not be returning again. I have long had a complicated relationship with Europane. Once I was screamed at by one of her employees. Sumi happened to be there. Even though she comped my meal as an apology, she also made me feel like I caused the explosion (untrue). Europane has always vacillated between great service and awful service. I'm a friendly person and happy tipper. I appreciate the good and do not tolerate the bad. The screaming employee was allowed to stay. I was made to feel like the guilty party, probably because it was easier for Sumi to believe that versus looking for a new hire. Whatever. It left a bad taste in my mouth. I never much enjoyed my visits after that. I still went because the food was so great and I was in love with the rosemary loaf. But that was years ago. The rosemary loaf now tastes like it was made by a 10 year old. The service seems much more consistent today. Very friendly. I have to be fair and say that. It is about lunch time and that means it is time to eat! I find myself returning to this bakery almost everyday because of their macaron and spicy ham with provolone on croissant. I have tried almost all of the macarons and I have to say... I cannot stop raving about them. It is probably the best macaron I ever had. ***Euro Pane is a decent bakery and cafe and it is a great option for Pasadena residents, but it does not compete well against Los Angeles' best French bakeries*** Euro Pane is a well known bakery and cafe in Pasadena (this property is their second location). Euro Pane features a great variety of nice looking French breakfast pastries. Euro Pane also serves a cafe style breakfast and lunch with sandwiches and such. They are most known for their open faced egg salad sandwich. Unfortunately, I was there for breakfast and they only serve the egg salad sandwich at lunch. I opted for the Croque Monsieur instead. I did not immediately like the look oh the Croque Monsieur (it looked like it had a heavy amount of cheese on top and it was going to be heavy, buttery and cheesy). The sandwich was not bad though. The bread quality was good and it had both a good crust and chew. The ham was good too. And I liked the flavor of the cheese. It was heavy but not to the point that I wanted to stop eating it. While the bread was good, it was an olive bread so it had a stronger flavor than the bread most French brasseries use for this ham and cheese sandwich. I would have preferred to have a sunny side up egg on top too (a Croque Madame), but that option was not available. In terms of their breakfast pastries, they were decent but not quite as good as the city's best breakfast pastry shops like Maison Giraud, Bouchon Bakery, Bottega Louie, Chaumont, and Tavern. Still, the variety was great. Selections included blueberry and cream cheese danishes, pain au chocolat, cinnamon twists, sticky buns, cinnamon rolls, carrot muffins, scones, and kouign amann. The kouign amann had the best pastry of the bunch--flaky, crispy, buttery, and lots of layers. I did not like the center where they added pastry cream; it made the pastry feel like it was underdone. The shop has a look that is both modern and rustic. And with the large communal table and the windows that allow you to look onto the street, it feels like the kind of atmosphere that would feel right at home at many downtown upscale cafés. Service was pleasant and quick. Prices on entrees were about what you would expect to pay for an upscale cafe though I felt their breakfast pastries were more reasonably priced than most gourmet bakeries. I need to come back to Euro Pane to try their open faced egg salad sandwich. That might be the kind of dish that elevates Euro Pane above its competition. What I had was fine, but it would not rank among the city's best options. Euro Pane is still a satisfying bakery and cafe and it is worth considering if you are a Pasadena resident. Judging by the other bad reviews, I think when they first opened, not all their items were available and things might have been a little disorganized since they were just starting out. But when I went to this new location recently, I was extremely happy! I came in expecting them to not have my favorite items but they had everything and more! They actually DID have the egg salad sandwich (my fave sandwich ever!!) which I got of course. It tasted and looked exactly how it should! DELICIOUS! How can you not love cranberry walnut bread topped with sun dried tomato pesto, baby greens and medium cooked eggs?! And there was that slight hint of squeezed lemon on the top which makes it so fresh and rounds out the whole experience of that sandwich! They also had a LOT of baked goods in their display, including their delicious macarons. I got a sea salt caramel macaron (what I always get at the original location.. seriously the most delicious macaron I've tried ever!) and I tried a Moca cookie for the first time. The cookie looks similar to a chocolate chewy cookie from Torrance Bakery but it's thinner and chewier and chocolatier, a.k.a even better!! I love how it's actually a little bitter and not TOO sweet. I also like the decor and vibe of this Euro Pane better than the original one. There's a huge wooden communal table in the center which is perfect for large groups, and they also have super clean bright white tables and chairs giving off a modern feel. There's also plenty of patio seating outside, perfect for people watching on Colorado Blvd. I think I'll be coming to this location from now on. Europane had decent reviews on Yelp and was only a few blocks away, perfect for a quick fix. Or so we thought. I came here fairly early in the morning, on the suggestion of my brother. Yet again, he makes the right call. It was too early for Euro's macarons but I went for their raspberry-filled brioche with powdered sugar on top. The brioche was soft and moist, with an abundance of nice raspberry filling inside. My wife and I were hanging out at the Pacific Asia Museum down the street and decided to grab a bite to eat here. It's a clean and modern space with a big community table in the middle. Line up at the counter on the right, place your order then find a seat at that table or one of the smaller tables throughout. We decided to share the Monte Cristo and a few macarons for our snack and it turned out to be a full-on early lunch. The Monte Cristo was huge, rich, and filling. I loved the interesting take on the sandwich, with the cheese on top instead of in the middle. One of our table mates ordered the egg salad sandwich and it looked ginormous. Note to self: try that next time. We tried the sea salt caramel macaron and it was outstanding. Not only was it bigger than most macarons, but it was also cheaper (less than two bucks each). Euro Pane is my guilty pleasure. Today, as like many days, I was following a group of attorneys out of the Pasadena Courthouse. I passed the Nom Nom truck line (been there, done that), eyed Tiffany's (flies buzzing in deli counter), and saw Euro Pane. Announcing for the 100th time that I'll join everyone for lunch another day, I broke off from the group. Despite my resolution to save some $$ by eating at less expensive options, Euro Pane calls to me every time I walk by. Perhaps I should take a different route to Colorado. Sandwiches: Smoked salmon, prosciutto, roast beef, meat loaf, and egg salad are my favorite usuals. Delicious & organic. Salads: Cobb. Macarons: Sea-salt caramel, pistachio, hazelnut. It's clean, it has a fancy horizonal-grained table in the middle, and all the patrons are cheerful and anxious to eat. There really isn't anything I *don't* like about this place. read more

The BEST English Muffins and a pretty damn good, fully loaded, cholesterol filled open faced Egg Salad Sandwich! They run out of both of these from time to time, so if you have your heart set on either go as early as you can. Their macaroons aren't bad either, probably some of the better in town - larger than other sizes and taste best when eaten at room temperature. These also tend to run out from time to time, depending on what flavors you are interested in. Their other location is always another route to go, if what you are looking for isn't here there's a possibility you can head down the street to order what you want. The best bakery in Pasadena! Oh, Euro Pane...how you disappoint me again! WHY DO YOU LIE TO ME??? I was just here a few weeks ago on a weekday with hopes of trying your Croque Madame, only to be told you serve it on weekends only. So what do I do? I drive all the way over here. Get in a super long line. Get to the front of the line and ask for the Croque Madame. Get told they don't make Croque Madame...but they have a Croque Monsieur. Grrrrrrr! Alright, I'll have that. And I'll try that interesting looking Breakfast Bun. Croque Monsieur: 3.5/5 *BEGIN SIDEBAR* I have to tell you, the sunny side up egg makes a HUGE difference. It adds an enormous amount of depth to this ham and cheese sandwich and helps define it's flavor. I don't think I can ever eat a Croque Monsieur again. It's Croque Madame or nothing. *END SIDEBAR* There is a constant trait shared among Euro Pane's sandwiches. They just pack them with generous amounts of meats or whatever the filling is supposed to be! Their Croque Monsieur is no different. To date, this is the most packed out croque I've had! So much ham in this sammie! Amazing! It was toasted just right and there was an enormous amount of gooey Gruyere cheese. Oddly, the problem was there really wasn't much flavor other than an overwhelming taste of ham and salt produced by both the massive amount of ham and cheese. Also, the béchamel sauce didn't do much. Breakfast Bun: 2/5 There were so many delicious looking items in the display case, but I couldn't decide, so I asked the guy what he would get and he recommended the Breakfast Bun. Sigh...I wish I would have gotten something else. It was way too hard to enjoy and very awkward to eat. It had a slight almond flavor, but that's about it. Definitely pass on this one!
