All I can say is WOW. My car overheated and was literally smoking when I pulled in here. Luckily they were in the area so I didn't need to have my car towed. When I had talked to the owner I was concerned that he didn't have the parts and could not fix it the same day. I am a triple A member so I was ready to have it towed to my regular shop but the owner, Jarret, made a commitment that he would get it done the same day and he was also short staffed. I also sensed that he knew he was talking about because he looked at a problem area immediately that I totally missed and would not have even thought of and I was pointing him in the wrong direction. Anyway, it turned out that he did not have the parts so he had to drive to Gresham to pick up a part. Now that is GOING ABOVE AND BEYOND. Jarett is amazing and got me back on the road on the same day! Came here as my oil had a steady leak for weeks, but I had just delayed getting it looked at. While the lot in front of the shop is fairly small, he was able to get my car looked at that morning, called to let me know what was wrong and diagnosis, and by 4pm that afternoon I was back up and running. There was also attention to parts that had been way too tightly screwed on my the dealership that he fit at a normal setting. We had a nice talk when I picked up my car about how this model is still running smooth after 210,000 miles and how newer cars don't make 'em like they used to. I'm not sure how I feel about this place. I want to give 4 stars, but that seems too much. 3 seems too few... This is a solid 3.8. Pros: They take Discover card! Yay! The location is ideal. Just blocks form work. They did fix the light and serviced the airbag. They were kind enough to take a look at my car last minute and even said they'd honor the yelp add. They were very good at answering the phone and keeping me updated with the progress. Cons: I don't see the yelp offer on the receipt, but I didn't ask about it at time of payment. Perhaps it was calculated into the price? [I'm not sure.] I dropped off the car on Monday, and picked it up on Thursday. That seemed a little longer than what I would expect for what they did. There was an issue with waiting for a part to come in, or something like that. I'm sure they do good work. The lot is always full of cars. Perhaps next time I'll get a better feel for how they work. read more

My '98 Jetta needed some work, so I asked a few friends for recommendations. Jarret at European Auto center was strongly suggested by a friend I trust, so I decided to give him a call. The owner (Jarrett) answered the call himself, and was pleasant on the phone. I made an appointment to drop off the car to have the clutch replaced, the ignition switch replaced, and a rattle fixed. Jarrett quoted me a reasonable price and said he could get started that same day. He then personally gave me a ride home so I wouldn't have to take the bus. The work was completed on my car on time and budget. I am very pleased with the work that they did, and with the experience as a whole. I am such a fan. Jarrett and his dad, Bud, have been taking care of my cars since I moved to Portland nine years ago. They are super honest and trustworthy, and Jarrett goes out of his way to help me save money. Some times he will take the harder way of repairing something toward that end. Yeah, this place screwed me like usual. PCV took three days to change and came in $300additional....+ (double) the original quote. Volvo dealership said the work that we had done was not good & immediately needed to be redone. I'm really unimpressed with the before purchase inspection they gave me too... Vehicle got A= inspection and ACTUALLY has a broken chassis and a MILLION other problems. Never got any repair records from them, just charge receipts. read more

These guys are great! I have a 2000 VW Cabrio, which has the normal VW issues. They are super honest and tell me how it is. My car has a couple problems and they let me choose between the quick fixes or the more expensive permanent fixes. Because the owner knew I was on a tight budget, they worked with what they could. I have been going to them for several years now. They remember my car and its issues which is comforting. Also if they see any other issues, they will give you a call and fix for cheap. Lastly, the owner even calls me a day later to see how my car is doing and if everything is satisfactory. It is the small things like that that keeps me as a long term customer! read more

I went to this place for five years and trusted the guy. I have noticed his business has slowed down tremendously since this time. Back in Jan. of this year I went for an oil change, he told me there was something wrong with my suspension and it would cost five hundred or something dollars to fix. I ignored it and recently went for another oil change and to check to see if it passes for emission. I had a mechanic friend look at the bill and he said I was basically overcharge 150 dollars , at the time i didnt know. Also he drove the car to the DEQ for me, but this time he never noticed the "suspension problem"? If you are thinking an oil change and minor issues, then this might not be a bad place. I have had two major repairs with this shop and both have been horrible experiences. He made me wait 3-5 days each time when the dealership does it in 1-2 days. He gets discounted parts of unknown quality without telling you ahead of time that he intends to use non OEM parts on your repair job. He orders parts from another part of country and never tells you, and makes you wait for that while you are on your own to get a rental car in the meantime. He never showed me the old defective part or produced an invoice for the new part, and charges over what the OEM part costs. The quality of repair is terrible and he seems to stutter when you question him about the issues remaining. He has to go back and forth to the dealership and talk with more experienced and qualified techs to help him figure it out. This was an absolute disappointment and I'd never pick this guy for any type of major problem with my car. Don't be fooled by many cars parked in the front, they may very well be ripped off customers just like me! read more
