The lamb is always cooked perfectly and seasons just right. Whether on a gyro or over rice it is delicious down to the last bite. I had the #8, gyro with fries/drink for $7. 74. It was good. The self serve soda machine did not have ice. Another patron asked, "You have no ice?". The order taker, "NO". No explanation or apology? I was passing by the store and it caught my attention so I decided to go in and check it out. I had to by something because the prices were great and they had vegetarian options! I ordered falafel over rice with salad to go. It got cold by the time I reached my destination but I didn't reheat it. I had it cold and it was really good! So I decided to go back and dine in! I must say the food taste better hot!!! I really enjoyed it. I pay around $5.75 for my meal and a drink. I don't think you can get that deal anywhere else! I've been going here SINCE THEY OPENED 8 years ago. They had over 20 sauces, breakfast, etc. I always get the same thing. Today there were some new people who wanted to charge me 7.89 for a 2 piece combo with two extra sauces that's supposed to be 6.18. They tried to charge me extra for picking my pieces. They then rudely say "so do you want the food for not". This place has gone downhill over the years. I will never eat at this place again. Lost one loyal customer. read more

Me and my co-worker normally order from here 2 times a month. We ordered today asked for the 2 piece fried Chx combo and asked to add an extra piece to both. When we got the order each 2 of them only had 2 pieces and another only had 1 piece. Checked the order receipt. We were charged for the 3 combos and the extra pice for each. When I told the guy on the phone he straight up told me I was LIAR, and come bring it in and show him if I'm not lying. Meanwhile I'm at work and I have time to leave to prove it. I agree with another review the sign chicken and pizza is not appropriate for this place it is def not a place I would go for the pizza and they offer so much more. The large "chicken and pizza" sign is deceiving as it doesn't seem to capture the extensive menu. My roommate and I never went there until we got a menu from a place in our mailbox. We thought we must have never seen the place before, despite driving by it every day. We had no idea it was actually called European Republic. The first time i went I ordered a gyro and greek salad. The meat was good quality and the onions were cooked well done and seasoned. The greek salad had some weird stuff in it, but hey, you can take it out. Prices are very reasonable. I write this with the hope that it causes them to change because I loved ordering from this place I would order 2 or 3 times a week because they had great halal food and it was a local place that delivers. But recently they have completely changed the preparations of the dishes idk why but it tastes horrible the chicken is terrible now and for some reason they now add beans to the dish, I'm Spanish and this is not rice and beans this is halal food the beans taste terrible with this style of food. This is the 2nd ER, same owners as the original European Republic in Huntington, where I used to go regularly when I lived in Huntington. I missed the place sorely when I moved. I was really happy when I moved to Baldwin and saw the ER opening in Freeport. Since the Freeport store opened, it has since replaced the words "european" and "republic" for the words "American" and "chicken" on the sign, but it's still got the same logo, and luckily, they still have the same great selection of homemade soups and wrap sandwiches served with those amazing Belgian french fries. They don't carry quite as many dipping sauces as they used to, but the best of the bunch are still available. I love the savory heat of the Jamaican curry dipping sauce. The basil dipping sauce on the tomato/mozzarella wrap is what takes that sandwich from good to GREAT. The reasons I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is, as another reviewer mentioned, the place is a hole in the wall with zero ambiance. It looks like a pawn shop converted to a take-out place. I recommend ordering to go. Also, the parking situation - there's no lot, only a few metered spots on the street in front, and if you're lucky enough to find a free spot, trying to parallel park on Merrick Road can take on a Death Race 2000 urgency. Lastly, behind-the-counter staff is constantly changing and usually lacking (like "does he understand me, does he even speak English?" or "is he awake?" lacking), which is a complete 180 from the flagship store, where more often than not, you'll find the owner making pleasant conversation while personally taking your order. But in terms of the quality, freshness and selection of the food, and the reasonableness of their prices, ER is 5 stars all the way, well worth dealing with the parking and zombies behind the counter. read more

This place were to start. The dried chicken it self is good. But with the people that work there out weighs the taste of the chicken. Called for a order for delivery (2) 2 piece chicken all white meat. Pretty simple. Had to repeat the order 3 times. After a hour when they showed up. Order was wrong or course. So decided to bite the bullet and just eat supper. Cpl weeks went by ordered same thing told them last time they messed it up. Got a rude comment yeah we got it. So 45 min later no food called and they said it's been out for delivery for a half hour should be there shortly. Half hour later called back still dont have my chicken. She said hold on let me talk to the delivery guy. Came back and said he delivered it. So had to argue I never got my food. She said it was delivered I said fine then i want a refund of my money. After a longer bitch fest by her she said she cant refund my money she doesnt have payment info for me. I said yeah because I never got my f'in chicken. She said she would have it there in 5 min. I go here whenever I am in Freeport for a quick bite. This place offers many types of food such as pizza, fried chicken, and gyros. They do a good job catering to the community's tastes. They are all good but the star in this place is the wraps and belgium style fries which are served with a special dipping sauce. There are numerous types of wraps to choose but my favorite is the Spicy Crispy Chicken and Mozzarella wrap. Which comes with a spicy sauce. I like extra sauce on the side. Now to their delicious fries which are thick cut and amazing. I like to have them with the European catsup and the spicy sauce. But on my last trip there I tried their curry dipping sauce and its a new favorite. The additional sauces are extra and worth it. This is a takeout place that offers some bare seating. It's nothing fancy but I enjoy it every time I go and I look forward to my next visit. This is quality food that won't break your wallet. read more
