    Chicago style Hot dog

Was leery to come here as the last few people left bad reviews. To say the least I am glad I stopped in. I ordered a hot dog with fries and the chicken souvlaki combo. Prices were not bad for this economy. The food was excellent and the service was fine. Last few reviews were rude and very personal. Not cool. Hope your business picks up guys.

Good tasting burgers and golden fries. It was empty on a Wednesday night but people think its empty it's not good. It was ok to my standards and food came out fast. Do you really want a crowded restaurant? Next time I will try the gyros.

Decided to give'em some business the other night. Was in need of a quick bite before heading out for the evening. This route between the burbs and city is a part of my commute and most times I've never seen them having clientele. Never. I've stopped by a couple times thinking I'd try it, only to end up elsewhere. However, today was the day. It was quiet till I got in there. Then all of a sudden, a slow stream of dinner crowd stopped by. A couple stopped in inquiring about catering, they resolved in ordering souvlaki plates. Reviews suggest the souvlaki is stellar, I kept thinking that should have been my meal as well. Instead, I went with a cheeseburger. Not bad, just about your typical out-of-a-box variety, most likely previously frozen. Salt, pepper, shredded lettuce, tomato slice halves, a thick slice of cheese and diced onions. It's served plain so that you can dress it up with ketchup & mustard to your liking. Also got a side order of fries. Theirs has this coating of krispity, crunchity, bits all over. Some would be familiar with this type, I think it's also served at FF's like Arby's and Carl's Jr. Decided to combo it with a drink and the total was a little over $10 dollars. It was alriiight but I'd suggest for newbies to check our their Greek game instead. Food can take some time since it's being made at the time of ordering. The place is pristine and looks ready to handle a crowd. But where is everyone?

    Chicken Breast Plate

Nice cozy self standing building on Touhy Ave with a parking lot. Upon walking in I noticed their BBQ menu however I was more in the mood for something along the lines of Greek chicken. Evan's Specialites side of the menu has a delicious and inexpensive Chicken Breast plate for $7.45. Your choice of Rice Pilaf, Fries or Greek Potato & Pita with cucumber sauce on the side plus a little lettuce, tomato and onion. My plate was good, like GOOD!!!! Seasoned juices and plenty filling. Although I live no where near Evan's Place, I will absolutely stop in again if I am ever in Des Plaines. Friendly service and spacious

There is a monstrous screen behind the bar for sports, but they mostly show videos of Greece, but they are mesmerizing videos of a beautiful country. It's a cleaner version of Dengeo's. And, dare I say, better version. Except for their avgolemeno soup. Such a weak travesty. Please fix this. It's just a watery mess. However, everything else is delicious. I ordered the Greek Chicken with their lemon-butter rice. They debone the chicken and serve atop a mountain of their rice. If also had their potatoes (which are good) but the rice is magical. The first time we went, they had a serve yourself soda fountain and they since got rid of it and sell soda in bottles and cans. They do still have a self-serve water station. Once you order, staff will bring to your table, so please tip when you order or leave on the table as they do come by and clear your table as well. It is first come first served and you grab your own tables. I've been there on weekends and weeknights and they get pretty packed. The food is flavorful and quite tasty. The portions are huge so you're definitely going to bring something home. Nostimo is now in our rotation of places to go in a pinch and they do have an outdoor seating area, too.

Since there was a total of 11 and the seating is first come first serve, we decided to call to see if they had reservations. They did take our name and reserved a table. When we arrived we noticed a table was reserved and we were informed that it was our table. We sat and looked over the menus. When we were ready my 2 boys and I went up to place our order. My one son has major allergies so we spoke to the chef and he came back out to recommend the dishes he can have. It was great that he did so and gave us confidence that my son would be able to eat without worrying too much about the ingredients. I ordered the Shrimp Kalamakia with a side of the Greek Rice. My son with the allergies ordered the Pork Kalamakia with Greek Rice and no pita, my other son ordered the Traditional Pork Gyro with Greek Rice. The sides we ordered: Saganaki Fritters and Spanakopitakia. My son that ordered the Pork Kalamakia devoured it. He said it was tender and juicy and probably could have eaten 4 skewers. My Shrimp Kalamakia was nicely charred and seasoned, I squeezed some lemon and it provided a nice tang over the seasoning. The Lemon rice pilaf was soft and cook just right and was nicely balanced. I had one Saganaki Ball and it was delicious. My son had the Pork Gyros said it was really good and the Tzatziki sauce was creamy and rich with flavors. My in-laws bought the table desserts and I got the Baklava and my wife got Loukoumades (Greek Donuts with Nutella) and both did not disappoint. I really loved the citrus honey syrup in the Baklava. The Loukoumades had a crispy shell and nice a fluffy on the inside and the Nutella amount was perfect. This place is very good and well worth the price in my opinion. I loved the fact that they took the time to make sure my son with allergies was safe.

Naxos has a pretty big menu but is still limited in some things. A lot of it is meaty including fish. There's few choices for vegetarians but they have salad at least. Coming in here it looks a lot fancier than the places around it. It's actually still pretty casual and there's okay prices. There's a bar at the front and that's where we sat. Good stuff as far as alcohol. It's about $7 for the House Red Wine. A good one. It's about $11 for the Athenian Salad. This is pretty much like a Greek Salad. Okay but basic. The rest of the menu has classics like moussaka and spanakopita among lots of things you can get. Good enough that maybe we could go here again. It's located on Irving Park at Rohlwing. The Fried Eggplant is among the few things for vegetarians.

I have eaten at other locations like Palatine (first time), Rolling Meadows, Lombard & now at this location in Des Plaines. Once again PPMG didn't disappoint. The food & the service were excellent as I have come to expect @ PPMG regardless of where you get your meal. I go to lunch w/my buddy about once every other week. We take turns & rotate every other time. For him it was his first time @ a PPMG. Both my buddy & I I ordered the mixed meat combination which comes w/a variety of meats. This combination comes w/beef shawarma, beef kifta sausage, piece of grilled beef, chicken shawarma, chicken kifta & grilled chicken, some yellow rice & salad all excellently seasoned. All of this comes for $19.00/person. He also ordered a cup of lentil soup. The portion sizes are generous & more than I can eat wo/gorging myself. (I had leftovers) All of this delicious goodness for $19.00/combo. This meal was made more affordable by a Groupon that I purchased. The deal was $40 worth of food for $25. Even wo/the Groupon this is an excellent value & an excellent meal. I continue to go to Pita Pita Mediterranean Grill or PPMG because the food quality & portion sizes have always been an awesome deal I love Mediterranean food & especially love PPMG

Than I read something on instagram that they serve the best gyros, I just had to swing by. I ordered their Gyros Dinner Plate and their Pork Chops Dnner Plate. I also got their Kefte Dinner Plate for my son Alex. Alex said his kefte plate was good. I, on the other hand, found my touted Gyros plate, kinda "meh". The meat was kinda bland, although those humongous greek potato wedges were awesome! I bought the pork chops for din-din with my wife later that night. Unfortunately, the chops were tough and chewy! I know it's tough to cook pork chops, but, they're a restaurant. You'd think they'd know how to cook pork chops the right way. So, in conclusion, it was a big letdown for me on this new find. I'd have to say that their servings are quite abundant, but It terribly lacks in taste and texture, and I don't think quantity equals quality here.
