I hadn't been to Ami's in years. It was a staple for dinner with my grandparents when I was younger, but living in Imperial now it just fell off my radar. We met my daughter her for dinner on a Friday evening. I made sure we could meet early because I know it isn't the largest place and gets busy. I knew going what we were ordering- combination salad with their house dressing, baked spaghetti with meatballs, and a thin crust pizza. The food was fantastic! The salad is basic but the dressing is the star. It is unlike anything else and so good. The anchovy base may scare some but it is not fishy. It is a must try!! The spaghetti and pizza were just as I remembered. The pizza crust is the thinnest ever with a great texture and crunch. Toppings are a great amount without overpowering the cheese and sauce. The spaghetti brought me back to Shari g it with my grandma often. A great tomato sauce that you can tell spends time cooking, great meatballs, and the provel over the top can't be beat. Ami's is no longer off my radar and we will be back- often! read more

First visit to Ami's in more than a year. Not sure why it's taken us so long to get back, but I'm glad we did., we called ahead for our group of 9 and requested seating in the back room. When we arrived they took a few minutes to set the table and we were seated, the only group in the back, which allowed us to enjoy our conversation easily in the quieter, more private space. No other group was seated there until we were nearly finished. . We ordered our group's usual (1 garlic cheese bread, 2 large Combination salads, a medium thin crust pepperoni and bacon and a medium New York style with pepperoni and sausage). Everything came out quickly, with extra cheese, dressing and croutons as requested for the salad and 2 baskets of their delicious rolls. Definitely get the house salad dressing, it's thick and garlicky! The salads are giant, so we even went home with a full take-out box. The pizzas came along soon after. It seems we mistakenly received someone else's NY style and when we asked about it they simply brought the correct pie and told us to keep both. Everything was as yummy as I remember and our whole group left full and pleased. The bill came in under $100 for everything, including drinks and a kid's buttered noodles for one of the young one's picky appetite. We have gone to A'mis for more than 20 years. It's really our favorite restaurant. It's conveniently located on the south side of Manchester in Rock Hill. The owners have always been so friendly and the food is FANTASTIC! Pizzas at A'mis is delicious, and a favorite of our family. They make a wonderful thin crust in addition to their regular crust, and they have a great deep dish, too! My husband loves any of their fish dishes and another favorite is their Chicken and steak fixman. Fresh peppers, mushrooms, zucchini, onions-all grilled to perfection with a nice sauce! Yummy and healthy! You can't go wrong with A'mis' lasagna, either! One of my husband's favorites, and he always eats all of the huge portion! The lasagna takes longer to bake, so be ready to wait a little longer for that meal. It's sure worth that wait, though! And their salads are great with their house dressing. I've been eating at Amia's since I was little and always enjoyed it, even though in the past I've run into issues like finding hair in the food. I still tried to give it another chance because I grew up with this place. Unfortunately, my most recent experience was extremely disappointing. When I called in an order for my father, I realized I needed to add something just a couple of minutes later. When I called back, the woman who answered the phone was rude right from the start after I gave her the name for the order. As a customer, I don't think it's too much to expect kindness and professionalism on the phone. When I went to pick up the order, the person at the desk was busy -- which I understood -- so I waited patiently without disturbing him. But while I stood there, multiple staff members looked right at me and not one person greeted me, acknowledged me, or said anything. I ended up waiting several minutes in silence until another customer walked in, and only then did a young girl finally get up to help. The same woman I had spoken with on the phone eventually acknowledged me, but acted as if I hadn't just been standing there for five minutes being ignored. This is not okay for any business. Customers should never be left standing and ignored, especially when multiple staff see them. A simple "We'll be right with you" goes a long way in making people feel valued and respected. Being dismissive and unprofessional makes customers feel like their business doesn't matter. Amia's has been a part of my life for a long time, but the way I was treated this time was beyond disappointing. I really hope the staff and management take this seriously and start treating customers with the courtesy and professionalism they deserve. read more

My husband is from Chicago so I've had many deep dish pizzas. A'mis is the closest I've had to a Chicago Deep Dish. The young lady that waited on us was efficient and very polite. Because I read the reviews of their creamy Italian dressing I also got the house salad. It was so good! I love rope cheese and the onions were sliced so thin, but the dressing made the salad! Very good dressing, do they bottle it? I was dining solo, and I believe Mr. Strange/ weirdo intentionally gave it to a table of 6, part of whom had come in later. He rudely informed me that my pizza was delivered to the wrong table. Ordered takeout from A'mis for the start of our alphabet pizza adventure. I'm glad this is what we chose because we were really in the mood for a good NY style pizza. They also have STL and Chicago style available. We did go inside of the place and it is small but very nostalgic of the classic local pizza place. The staff was a very young crowd, but they were courteous and attentive. You can see into the kitchen and we could tell the staff was working hard on a busy night. The pizza was great! Chewy, fluffy crust and tasty toppings. I got mushrooms, my partner got sausage and pepperoni. Finally made it by here, and glad that I did! A'mis is one of those places that is easy to pass right by and never even notice it, and that's exactly what it was for me for the last 20+ years. After paying a little closer attention to this plaza (thanks to Chucks next door) I made a point to put A'mis on my lunch list, specifically seeking out their pizza options. I'll start by saying that if its any indication of weather the pizza is any good, I ate here twice in two days... Thursday I ordered a NY style Pepperoni/ Bacon for lunch to go. Unfortunately it wasn't as hot as I would have liked when I made it back to my office due to some unforeseen circumstances, but it was delicious, nonetheless. The crust was truly perfect, and the sauce, cheese, and toppings were all on point! Aside from the pie being not as piping hot as I would have preferred (again not A'MIS fault) the cheese was not as browned as I personally prefer. Still very white, and not really browned. They also put the pepperoni under the cheese here which I've learned that some people have strong feelings about, myself not being one of them, but given the option, my preference is above. Overall the NY Style pizza was a 8/10 from me. Friday I came by with the whole family. We ordered 2 pizzas one STL style and one NY style. While this gave me the opportunity to try 2 styles of pizza right out of the oven, it also gave me the opportunity to enjoy some of their AMAZING homemade rolls while we waited. Absolutely perfect and incredibly similar to my own I make at home for big holiday meals. Family agreed. As far as the pizzas... The STL Style was honestly the BEST St louis style pizza I've ever had, and there are 2 reasons for this, HOMEMADE ultra thin crust, and the perfect blend of Provel and Mozzarella cheese. This was verified by our incredibly friendly and helpful server. As far as the NY style, again the cheese just wasn't as browned as I prefer, but overall I'd rate it as 9/10 this time, being right out of the oven. While the cheese, toppings and sauce were all spectacular, the star of the NY pizza is clearly the crust. Bottom line... The pizza was spectacular! Well above average with a solid 8.5/10 on the NY style and 10/10 on the St. Louis Style. I will definitely be back and look forward to putting A'mis into my lunch rotation as well as exploring the menu a bit further next time around. Hidden gem of an Italian restaurant, in an unassuming strip mall in Rock Hill. Their pizza is some of the best in STL. We also love their Ami's Deluxe salad with house dressing. It comes with ham, Italian salami, hard boiled egg, and Provel cheese. You could make a meal out of the salad, but we typically get it for the table, along with pizza or other entrees. The Chicago deep dish pizza is quite nice, and relatively unusual for this area. It's filling, but involves a 30-40 minute wait. So plan ahead if you think you might want one; maybe call in the order ahead of time. The New York style and STL style pizzas are also good, and don't involve such a long wait time. We typically get pizza and salad and toasted ravioli, but sometimes switch it up with some pasta dishes. None especially stand out, but I don't recall being disappointed by anything I've ordered here. read more

Have passed A'Mi's so many times without a glance. My eyes fell upon it again recently and I decided it was time I checked it out. I ordered a lemonade for there and a cheese pizza to go. They use styrofoam cups, so I didn't want to take one to go. This would be a 5-star review if not for the styrofoam. Hint, hint. The pizza was good. The crust is as thin as Imo's. The cheese and sauce ratio was on point, making for that middle layer of cheesy saucy deliciousness I always seek but usually don't find with our local pizzas. Then a taller dark haired gentleman came to our table to take our order, clearly in grumpy mood by the sighs and grunts he was making while engaging with us. I've liked A'mis a long time and I think it's gotten even better. They have the best deep dish pizza in St Louis. I use Lou Malnati's as the measure for deep dish. Tonight I ordered my pizza with sausage, pepperoni, hamburger, mushroom and Mozzarella cheese. I also got a small salad with ranch. The salad comes with two homemade dinner rolls. My order was ready and the dining room was busy when I got there. This order can feed two adult males easily. The pizza was perfect and the crust had more flavor than I remember it having previously. Not sure how that's possible. Standing with two pizzas getting cold waiting on a salad can piss a person off. Two people checked on the salad. New customer comes in for his carryout salad. Guy says yeah we're way behind on salads. I told him you can keep my salad and leave. What sucks is I tip 20% on carryout which of course is charged when you order. Let's see: the sign at the entry asked for patience since they're understaffed. Okay, no problem, everyone is. I sat for ten minutes until someone came to ask if I was eating. (??) I ordered Egplant Parmigiano and a side od fries. The eggplant finally came out but no fries. I started to eat thinking they would be coming. The eggplant was bland and without taste. The cheese tasted old and it was altogether an awful meal. (Still no fries) After I had finished, the waitress finally stopped by and I asked her is anything was supposed to come with my entre and I got a blank look. I had to remind her that I had ordered fries. She then went to get them and asked if I wanted catsup to which I replied "yes". Ten minutes later, I got up, went to the back and asked fir catsup. Altogether an awful experience. The only bright spot was the young girl with dark hair who seated me and brought water and checked in periodically. Phone service weak, call length 5min+ for a single order, two-topping pizza. You would of thought I was thanking my grandmother for the $10 check she sent for my last birthday. Pepperoni/Green Pepper 16". Each pizza handles their veggie toppings differently. Given the water content, G Pepp poses potential threats to the cooking process. SIDE NOTE: Can someone please cut the final product, THOROUGHLY? Without the whole pie falling apart, I needed backup to remove each slice. Substance filled and complex. Cheese slipped right off the slice with a nice pull, but was it too much? Yes...it was. One bite in particular, took the whole pizza off the crust, leaving me with a pile of za' bi-product. Although, this event revealed to me how A'mis respects their sauce distribution. Thick and widespread, that's all I ask. Box. Checked. ***FINAL TAKE : mediocre bland redundant forgettable. Again, this was a delivery-order state of mind, so you have to account for a 15% fallout in quality. But given the circumstances, I walked away from A'mis Italian Restaurant with mixed feelings.
