The food was delicious and came out SO quickly. My favorites were the pork soup dumplings, the shao mai, and the braised minced pork over rice. I will say, the customer service here is just okay which is how you know it's authentic. At no point did anyone smile at us or ask us how we were doing which I loved. Hand pulling noodles is paying off (you can watch them do it)! I'm Italian so any Italian joint serving fresh pasta is at the top of my list. I'm starting to get the same way with Asian cuisine. There's something different about a fresh noodle than one that's been dried out and re-hydrated. I was visiting family and brought them here as they haven't been. Everyone enjoyed their meals! We split an order of Soup Dumplings which were delicious. They brought the vinegary sauce but I was able to use some of my hot/spicy sauce from my absolutely amazing hand pulled Hot Spicy Wonton Noodles. When you order, they ask if you want thin or wide noods. I ordered the thin and wow, they had a nice chew and were delicious. The dish I ordered (51) had noodles with wontons on top. Like Sammy Hagar, this dish provided the Best of Both Worlds for me. Hot and Spicy wontons are my go-to at any dumpling place, and these didn't disappoint. Parking can be a challenge, but on Sundays, the little covered garage at the far end of the block had free parking! That was a nice surprise for Squirrel Hill! It was hard for me to judge on Everyday Noodles 天天见麵 because I am not from around here. I came with a group of coworkers. Few of them tried this before and it was highly recommended. I studied the pulled noodles history at restaurants in Houston Chinatown. The soup quality on Beef Noodles 牛肉麵 at this restaurant was the worse than I have ever tasted. It was so weak and it didn't match with the stewed beef in the soup. Noodles were not fresh. I understand that the pull noodle chef was on his lunch break at that time of Sunday afternoon. But it lacked bounciness in texture. On the other hand, the soupy dumplings 小笼汤包 were pretty good. The waitress taught us how to eat it. My coworkers were ecstatic about the dining experience. We originally ordered something simple but the waitress talked us into elaborated selection. Pickled cucumber salad came in double portion and it was so spicy that no one was eating. The wonton dry noodles tasted ok because it was upgraded from Tan Tan Noodles as we originally wanted. That dish was also very spicy. That caused leftovers. Restaurant can only allow split bill once. I wish they had a smaller order size. The appetizer was ideal for 2 or 3 people. The rich dish with braised beef and egg was a perfect combination. The Rolled Onion pancake was not what I expected. The pancake is like a stuff burrito with sliced beef, cucumber and various other vegetables. --Capacity-- The Forbes Ave location is kind of small. I would say about 20 people. Any big party of 5 or more there are only 2 or 3 tables to accommodate a party that size --Overall-- I would be back to try some of their noodles and other dishes. You can probably get some of the best soup dumplings in Pittsburgh here. Everything else here is standard -- slightly hit or miss in my opinion. I really like the black bean noodles (noodles with minced pork sauce), which is basically jjajangmyeon. I've had some dishes here that didn't impress me too much, but it's a good place to go with groups and share a bunch of small plates. You can order a lot of Taiwanese dishes that are hard to find elsewhere in Pittsburgh like beef noodle soup. There's always a wait and the waiting area is super small so you'll probably have to leave and come back or wait outside. Oxtail typically takes a while to process/cook so I always gravitate towards it when I eat out. Their oxtail meat was pretty tender and came off the bone really easily. You can pick wide or skinny noodles: I ended up with wide but they were a little too doughy for my liking (maybe I should have picked skinny). The accompanying soup was a hearty clear broth. The cucumbers are fresh and crisp. The dan dan noodles are the perfect mix of creamy, nutty, spicy, and funky, and are drenched in sauce. The fresh noodles are next level good and have the perfect amount of chew. The dumplings are the star of the show for us - they are so savory, unctuous, and perfectly executed.
