Ralph quoted a fair price and he and his son Alex clearly take pride in their work. They were on time and finished faster than I expected. Flushed the line-set and installed the new evaporator coil. They even fixed a hole in the sheet metal from a previous install and checked my smart thermostat connections which I had installed the night before. I'm one of those customers who ask a lot of questions, but Ralph and Alex are patient and personable. Some advertised "family" businesses are more like "family incorporated". But I got personal service; they didn't rush the job, finished the work to my satisfaction and I wouldn't hesitate to hire them again.

He…read moreascertained that the previous company had charged us $350 for freon installation when a massive leak in the system was immediately apparent when attempting to inject freon into the system. Miros spent several hours carefully repairing the leak, flushing the system, and recharging the freon, all for slightly more than we were charged by the first company. We are cool and comfortable. Miros is honest, prompt, and fair. If you have a heating or air conditioning problem, don't be tempted by websites, 800 numbers, or the allure of being able to pay by credit card. Dust off your checkbook and call Miros. You won't be disappointed. P.S. Miros wrote up a report which we faxed to the first company. Because of his explanation of how the massive freon leak was immediately apparent and would've been known to the first technician, our entire payment of $350 was refunded. Thanks again, Miros!

We had to replace our water heater and he gave us a competitive quote for installing a 50 gallon Bradford White water heater. The installation was performed perfectly. 2. The bigger project was the installation of 2 exhaust/air intake vents through our roof for the installation of a portable A/C unit in our loft. He helped to describe the scope of the project to our HOA and management company to obtain prior approval. He was very flexible with the suggested solutions. At the day of the install he was very supportive, despite of the difficult weather conditions. The installation was executed very professionally. Fast forward three weeks, and the system completely shut down again. When they returned, instead of properly diagnosing the issue, they immediately pushed us to buy a whole new unit. They also wanted to cut into the drywall and made it clear that any damage caused wouldn't be their responsibility -- even though the setup had worked perfectly for over 25 years. Thankfully, we got a second opinion. That technician immediately noticed that the previous tech had left multiple components disconnected and hadn't even reassembled the system properly. The second company was able to fix the issue quickly and at a fraction of the cost -- no drywall cutting, no upsell, just competent service. This was a completely unprofessional and disappointing experience. I would not recommend this company to anyone looking for honest, reliable HVAC work.

Our AC was from the 90s when we moved in a couple years ago, and recently when we noticed our house wasn't becoming any cooler with our AC on all day, we knew we would probably need a replacement since it was 20+ years old. My parents had Elvis come out last year to repair their furnace, and right away, they recommended him to us. When I initially contacted him, I wanted to be sure he could come to Schaumburg since he is in Chicago, and it was no problem. I initially asked for him to complete a diagnostic to see what was wrong, and when he arrived, he came to the conclusion that we had a refrigerant leak. He told us he could replace the refrigerant but informed us that it would be an expensive short-term solution. As a result, we hired him to replace our AC unit, and since we were paying for a whole new unit, he didn't end up charging us for the initial diagnostic. He worked with my husband's and my schedule to come and replace it, and he was able to come on a Saturday, which was so nice. He even came the next day (Sunday) for about an hour and a half so that he could test everything and finish some last-minute details. He did everything on his own, and it took him a day to install. He walked us through everything he had to do, and when done, he was also able to haul away our old unit. He was able to provide our HOA the required insurance docs and also the specs for the AC unit, AND he worked with the Village of Schaumburg to get the required permits. Overall, he did an amazing job, and our house feels so comfortable again. The new unit is much more energy efficient than our old one, and we even have a 10-year warranty on the unit. We will continue to call Elvis for any and all questions or repairs.

In my case, a faulty water heater needing to be replaced. The Good: incredibly responsive, tried to troubleshoot over the phone and worked to visit the immediate next day. The (Real) Bad: they price gouged me in a time of peril. Unacceptable. Knowing I was up against the ropes, they charged me what was nearly 3.5 times a normal charge for a water heater replacement! I asked for them to be more accommodating on the quote but came back with 'nothing we can do'. I guess they assumed I'd pay that exorbinant price. I didn't. I got quotes from two other responsive plumbers which proved Plumbing Department was attempting to gouge me. I'm glad I went elsewhere. It's a shame they have such speedy, friendly initial support, but followed it with egregious quotes. Hope they can do better in the future. UPDATE: spoke with owner, Jeff, to discuss the experience. To provide further details underscoring the notable pricepoint disparity: Plumbing Department - install Bradford White water heater with licensed, bonded and insured company Other Plumber Quotes at 3-3.5x less - install a Rheems Performance water heater from licensed, bonded, and insured company. I have no qualms with how Jeff chooses to operate and appreciated their initial support, but found the pricepoints for the install, at a moment of peril, arresting and glad I didn't settle with what was clearly an elevated pricepoint. I'm only sharing my experience and the notable pricepoint disparity.
