Probably one of the best Korean-Chinese restaurant in the neighborhood. Their food is tasty, clean and plenty to share. Fried dumplings, Spicy seafood soup (Jjampong), Mussels soup, Mapo Tofu, Seafood over white rice, Jajangmyun are all delicious. I don't have to explain anymore. Just go. This place is one of the few places that serves Korean-Chinese food that is not in the Fort Lee/Palisades Park area. A side from price (a bit pricey compared to the ones in Fort Lee) & kind of slow service it has everything going for them. My wife and I got: Ja jang mien: 2 bowls one for each of us. This is the black bean paste noodles. It is true that they serve green noodles, but don't be afraid these noodles are delicious! It has the perfect texture, and taste. It is soft and chewy just the way i in visioned my ja jang mien to taste like. The serving size was pretty big compared to the ones we had in Fort lee/Palisades park area. Tangsuyuk: 1 order of this to share it is very large and perfect for 2 people. This is the sweet and sour pork. This dish had a different style & taste to the other Korean-Chinese food places we ate at. I personally loved it & prefer this style, but sadly my wife was not a big fan of it. The difference is simply 2 things: 1) the outside breading of the pork was much more crispy & thicker (my wife thought it was too hard to chew at times). 2) The style of the sauce was a but more thicker and sweeter rather than tangy. I personally would like this style more then the other styles we had in Fort Lee/ Palisades Park area. Lastly, the servers are sweet hearts they are so kind and nice, but their attentiveness was a bit slow at times. It took them a while to refill our drinks/waters, and give us our check. This place has better jajangmyun, jjangpong and tangsuyuk than its counterparts in the Fort Lee area. For takeout, ask them not to boil the noodles. Cooking the noodles at home makes the dishes even more amazing. Flavors are spot-on, food is fast and fresh and the green noodles are a family favorite. This is one of the better Korean-style Chinese restaurants in New Jersey. In particular, their jjajangmyeon tastes very good; actually, most of the noodle dishes I tried there were delicious. The jampong tastes great as well. For the meat dishes, definitely go with the tang soo-yook. The breading has just enough crisp when you bite down, and the meat inside is cooked very well. The sauce tastes sweet and delectable, and goes perfectly with the meat. Though gganpoongi (Fried Chicken w/ Spicy Garlic Sauce) is normally my favorite dish in any Korean-style Chinese restaurant, the gganpoongi here is not that great. The chicken in the gganpoongi has a lot of fat in it; it would taste better if they used better quality white meat. The Fried Shrimps w/ Spicy Garlic Sauce are essentially the same thing as the gganpoongi, but this shrimp version is twice as good as the chicken dish. BUT, every now and then the shrimp isnt as fresh as it could be, since they get the shipment the previous day. Most ppl cant taste the difference though, but if you're picky about it you probably will. I use to love this place and I am sad that I have to part ways. I found them pre covid time in 2019 and I was so happy! While my son would go to his Saturday classes, my Unnie (big sister in Korean) and I would come here to eat lunch (we did this every weekend and I drove all the way from Manhattan). Although no more Saturday classes as everything is online for the kids now, I still would go out my way to come back and eat and order take out from here. However I have noticed the decline in service and food quality. The last time we (me and my unnie & our kids) dined in for lunch and it wasnt busy mind you, the food tasted different. The service was sub par. I mean they gave us a pot of tea (it wasnt even hot) and only gave 1 cup (were we suppose to share?) The jjampong came out warm not hot like it usually does. The radish kimchi was sooo bitter. We just ate and tried to enjoy as best we could. Thinking perhaps its just their off day. Well... I recently ordered take out since my mom was craving for jjampong (no shrimp as she is deadly allergic to it) as she usually orders it. So we drive out to NJ pick up drive back to Manhattan... and as she was about to eat it, she scooped up mini shrimps; 2 of them. I called them and the guy who took my order remembered and even pulled up my receipt and he read to me "jjampong no shrimp" is what you ordered... silence from his end when I told him there was shrimp and that they were not careful with our order. This was never an issue before. He tried to offer me free meal for next time I come... I didnt complain to get a free meal, I was disappointed and voicing my concern that they were so careless in taking my order and my mom could have gotten very sick. Walked into outdoor dining. We werent greeted at all but was so hungry we ordered the black noodle and sweet and sour chicken. Took a while for the chicken to come out. During the wait, the waiter didnt give us any side radish. Food finally comes out- its bad. The sauce and the chicken isnt event mixed right. The chicken had this weird odor. We waited another 15-20mins for our noodle and it never came out. We were so annoyed we just paid for what we had and left. The waiter was so rude. He glared at us when we asked for our food. Both flat in flavor, no depth or complexity, relying heavily on spiciness. They figured out a way to make the food look good with flavors that get you a semblance of the actual. The place was packed, people going in and out, as if it was the only game in town. But if you've grown up with Korean/Chinese, no matter the price or quality, you do it. When I don't want to make the trek over to Palisades Park Ewha Won is my go to location when I am craving Korean-Chinese food. When dining in, their bus boys are very attentive - our water glasses and tea pots are always filled, and anything we need from new chopsticks to extra napkins are always brought over speedily. The waitresses are polite enough when taking your order, and that's about all the interaction you have with them until they are ready to hand you your check. When picking up a to go order, the hostess in charge of the take out orders is polite not matter how busy they are, and makes sure to repeat back your order and gives you the exact time frame your order will take to me ready for pick up. Unfortunately, I can't be as kind on their food. Their Tangsooyuk (deep fried sweet and sour beef or pork - you can choose) is much too sweet and the sauce is very thick in consistency that it doesn't spread evenly to the rest of the meat. Their Jampong (noodles in mixed seafood and vegetables in spicy soup) is filled with onions, a smattering of frozen seafood mix, and broth that lacks depth and flavor, and is filled with a little too much oil depending on the day. The Gganpoongsaewoo (fried shrimp with spicy garlic sauce) is regularly covered in just a little too much batter, and the sauce that it is served in is neither spicy nor garlicky, but rather sweet with the slightest kick of spice. The Yusanseul (stir-fried beef, mixed seafood, and vegetables) does not have any beef, has zero seafood, and is filled with a few different kinds of mushrooms. In fact, its so bad that I am assuming that Yusanseul at Ewha Won is a $25 mushroom dish not the seafood dish that it would be if you were at any other Korean-Chinese restaurant. Even the side dishes aren't good - they serve you the standard pickled daikon radishes, slices of onion with raw black been sauce, and radish kimchi which is extremely flavorless and tastes as though the chief cubed up some radishes and sprinkled some red pepper flakes on it and called it a day, and then a root dish that I am not familiar with, but is served every time I go there. What they do have in their favor, and the reason why I go back, is their Chulpan Jajang Myun (cast iron black bean noodles). You can get this with beef or with seafood and then they take their normal Jajang Myun sauce and stir fry it with their noodles in the cast iron skillet to deepen the flavor and it arrives sizzling to your table. Even as take out their Chulpan Jajang Myun is much better in flavor than their regular Jajang Myun. Bottom line - if you're in the area, it's not terrible but I would probably not suggest it as an option. read more

Good ol' Korean food. It's just so good. This place from start to finish: It started off slow... ridiculously slow. It wasn't all that crowded, but they took way too long with our order. Just had the side dishes there for a good 15-20 minutes after our order was put in. BUT! They redeemed themselves by giving us dumplings on the house! That was their way of saying sorry and their apology was delicious. After that, our food finally came out!!! We got a sweet and sour beef dish for the table and it was phenomenal. Comes with some lettuce on the side and the dressing tasted like secret big mac sauce. It was good. I had the gahn jja jang which is the made to order jja jang and asked them to make it spicy. Trust me, it was spicy. The noodles were green, which I've never seen before and it was delicious. Others got some rice dishes and they were good too. The portions on all the dishes seemed to a good size to get a normal person full. Good thing we had the dumplings and the sweet and sour beef :) Overall, a nice, cozy place for a quiet dinner. I go here with my family often and everything we've tried is amazing! My favorite is the jjajangmuen. There's a spicy version which is equally delicious but if you're not about the spicy life DONT get it. It's pretty spicy. My other favorites are the tangsuyuk and the jjampong. But really. Went there for lunch at noontime and we were the first people there. The crowd starts filing in at 12:30. Food is great! We had jajangmyeon and tangsuyuk, both were very generous portions. After eating jajangmyeon each, we couldn't finish the entire tangsuyuk so we brought it back with us. It's always great to have something to bring back for round 2 later for dinner! Good jajangmyun that compares to Korean jajangmyun is extremely hard to come by in the States. When Ewha Won first opened, my entire family and I found this place amazing. All of their food was meticulously prepared, and the flavor was comparable to what we used to have in Korea. Unfortunately, a few years have gone by, and this restaurant is nowhere near as good as it once was. I think the kitchen has changed up or and the management has gotten more lax, because none of the food is the same. The noodles don't taste fresh and seem thicker/chewier. The jajangmyun sauce is bland and it definitely doesn't have that Korean feel anymore. Even the jjambong is mediocre; they put WAY too many spices in it, giving it a blood red look. The restaurant is still quite busy on certain days, and I believe it's due to its popularity that it slowly lost its way. They couldn't keep up their quality. Pretty good Korean Chinese restaurant.... actually, it is the only Korean Chinese restaurant in the area. Thank goodness that it is pretty decent. For the jjajangmyun, they use green noodles. I really don't care for the green noodles. It doesn't have a lot of effect on the flavor. The sauce is pretty good and not too salty. Jjambbong, the seafood noodle soup, also uses the green noodles which I don't get. But the broth is great and again not overly salty. Jjambbong is supposed to be one of the most salty dishes in Korea, so I was happy to see that it wasn't as sodium saturated as some other places. Tangsooyook, sweet and sour pork, is also pretty decent. Huge portion, but it is supposed to be a large plate to be shared and is priced accordingly. The wait staff aren't all that friendly but efficient at what they do. But then again, I went around 5pm so the place was kinda empty. Overall, not the best Korean Chinese restaurant ever, but they do provide a satisfying meal, and I would definitely go there when I want jjambbong or Tangsooyook. read more

If I could give this place ZERO stars I would. I was eating lunch there with my family when this girl with her service dog walked in. When she was about to take a seat they rushed to her and said she can't bring her service dog in with her. Mind you it is raining outside and they tell her to just tie her dog on the tree where its soaking wet. The dog was so well behaved and wasn't bothering anyone. Not to mention this whole thing was unlawful! The girl was almost in tears trying to convince them that this is her service dog and she has her right to bring the dog in. This place is a great Chinese/Korean place. The black bean noodles are amazing. The noodles are green, which is pretty cool. The sauce tastes great and the side dishes are good too.
