Yurii and his teammate did a fantastic job fixing the gas pipe in my house. It was a challenging job that requires accurate diagnosis, optimized strategy and strong technical skills. The connection between the gas pipe outside and inside is located inside the wall. The gas pipe connection from internal drywall opening can hardly be reached by hand, blocked by wood beams and metal pieces. To remove the old pipe and replace with new pipe, Yurii and his teammates had to operate at the same time from both inside and outside. They completed the fix beautifully with minimal damage to internal drywall, and helped me to get gas back quickly after the fix. In addition, the price is very reasonable given the complexity and work hours. I can see grace from Yurii's work, and this makes me greatly respect plumbing profession. My water heater died, I called Excel plumbing at 8:00am to request an estimate. I was able to text several pictures of my water heater and they sent me a quote in about 15 minutes, no need to schedule an appointment for a site visit. Price was great, the brand was/model was reputable as well. They had a tech out that afternoon to install, he was professional, courteous, cleaned up after himself and gave me a quick walkthrough to make sure I understood the settings. We had a bad kitchen sink leak. Water was everywhere under the sink. Excel answered my message on a Sunday, and got a plumber out in a reasonable amount of time. The plumber told me that needed a new faucet and one shut off value no longer worked. He recommended changing both valves at once, which we did. The plumber got everything done in one visit, and even went to Home Depot to get a needed part (at no extra charge). Price was very reasonable. Plumber was very courteous. Everything works now. I will start this review by saying that the technicians that came to install my new water heater were SUPERB. They needed towels to clean up after themselves and I provided ( should those have been brought? -I'll let you answer that) Now, to the meat of the reason why this review has only 2 stars. The angry person in me wants to give one but based on PRINCIPLE AND RESPECT I'm not going to give a trash rating just because I'm livid. I purchased the water heater for $1750. My old water heater which needed to be lit by long stem lighter was not working and I asked if a tech could come out and spend 5 minutes to light it so that I could have hot water in my residence. I was told that they could "walk me through the lighting process but nobody was available to come out" I'd already scheduled the replacement of the old water heater for the new and yet that SMALL COURTESY WAS NOT PAID FORWARD! Instead, I got the aforementioned answer which I took as "Hey, good luck playing with that gas knob, hope you don't blow your S$!& UP" MESSAGE: IF SOMEONE IS A REPEAT CUSTOMER AND PAYING OVER A GRAND THEN TAKING THE TIME TO MAKE SURE THEY HAVE HOT WATER IS NOT A CHORE, ITS COURTESY AND RESPECT!!!! There was NO RESPECT SHOWN, NO COMMON COURTESY! The three stars are purely for my service techs who got the job done and did it fairly quickly and efficiently minus the whole towel debacle. As for the business side, all I can say is that energy is reciprocated, do unto others as you'd like done. Etc etc etc. we ALL know how karma works and that respect is paramount. (At least that is something that was drilled into me as a kid so I expect we all know) The reason for the minus of three stars, one name, MIKE. I had to have our kitchen sinks unplugged and was in somewhat of a time crunch. I called several plumbers and wasn't happy with the answers I got in terms of time available and costs. When I contacted Excel, they were very responsive to my needs and quoted what I felt was a fair cost as compared to some others. I also asked if they had either military, or senior discounts and they did. We called on Excel twice in a 2 week period for service at our son's new but vintage home. Overall, it was a very positive experience. The first time was for a battery backup sump pump installation before winter. The scheduling and quote over the phone with the office staff was painless and informative. And it was a firm quote with two different options: if a new primary pump was needed or not. The technician was friendly, clean and did a great job figuring out the convoluted mess of plumbing in the basement and was meticulous in getting things done properly. The only somewhat negative experience was that I got up for an 8am appointment and they called that morning to reschedule to that afternoon due to an overnight emergency. Not a big deal in times of COVID when a lot of people are working from home but it delayed plans for the afternoon. The second visit was more of an emergency with a leaking toilet that needed a new wax ring. I called the day before and they came out first thing the next morning as scheduled and on time. Work was done efficiently and the plumber was clean and friendly (again with booties and a mask). Overall, we would call Excel again for plumbing service. I feel their prices may be slightly higher than others based on other firms I called, but the work is good and I like the fact you get a fixed quote for the work up front! None of that: "oh, we have to install this part and that was not in our estimate." Maybe you pay $30 more sometimes, but I feel in the end it gives you peace of mind as there are no hidden fees, trip charges, or you are not sitting there in your house wondering if you are getting milked while some plumber goes out to their truck for 10 minutes to get a part and you are getting charged by the hour! read more

If I could rate higher than 5 stars I would. I definitely found my plumbing company and would say plumbers of the year...or century for that matter. I had just moved myself from the Southern CA mountains back to Buffalo Grove where I also owned a condo (arriving on a cold snowy Saturday night). The condo had sat empty for some time so upon arrival, there were many items that needed immediate service or replacement. At the top of the list was my water heater that would not put out any hot water. Based on reviewing the water heater information and date, I needed to have my water heater replaced immediately. I survived the weekend with freezing water, and found Excel plumbing through a personal recommendation on Monday morning. I called them and Mike took the call. He was so kind, understanding, professional, and asked the right questions. Based on my information he gave me a very fair quote, and was able to schedule their technician Denny to come out the same day to replace the water heater. My garbage disposal had also stopped working the night before, so Mike offered a very fair quote on replacing that as well. Denny was an amazing talented plumber. He was professional, respectful, focused, skilled and thorough. He replaced the water heater, a bulb valve, and the garbage disposal. He was conscientious to keep things clean and cleaned up more after the jobs were complete. The final price was what Mike originally told me it would be. The water heater and garbage disposal are working perfectly. Also, when I called in with questions, I spoke with Kelly who was kind, caring and patiently answered my questions. Extremely unprofessional. Quote given beforehand was $250. When the plumber showed up the quote was suddenly $550. When we declined that quote we were asked to pay the $49 show-up fee. We also declined to pay that because they breached the deal. Furthermore the plumber showed up without a mask and didn't even take his shoes of. Extremely unprofessional. Update: The office manager called us after an hour or so to apologize for the behavior of his colleagues. He assured us that we would not have to pay the $49 show-up fee. To make things right he offered to honor the initial quote, but he didn't pressure us into a decision. This was a very professional and measured response which we appreciate greatly. read more
