I read the reviews and even read the inspection violations (14 in total) and STILL gave the restaurant a chance! I'm visiting from out of town and ordered from my hotel using Uber Ears. I ordered the Exliner because it has my favorite pizza toppings and because of a previous yelp photo that makes this pizza look wonderful (it may have been that way at one time), but... It's just plain awful! I ordered two 7" Exliner pizzas because it was less expensive to do so than their 12". Uber Eats delivered it to me just fine, but when I opened the boxes what I found was burnt blobs. A pan-like looking pie that has no sauce, and if I wanted it well done I would have ordered extra crispy. I took a couple of bites of a slice and choked it down. I thought if I could eat the toppings maybe I could salvage my dinner. Nope. The photos shoe how the pie looks underneath the toppings, like a bad growth (no sauce). I immediately stopped eating, replaced the box lid and got on yelp. Their web description reads, "Memphis Style Pizza -- Exlines' Best Pizza in Town is a family restaurant serving Memphis style pizza since 1974". I was in Memphis visiting Graceland and staying at Holiday Inn on Elvis Presley Blvd. and chose this place for a late night snack on our last night in town. Upon arriving at our pickup time, we still had to wait 15 minutes for our pizza's and mozzarella cheese sticks. We were never greeted upon entering store, and finally getting back to our room with pizza's ( a 2 minute walk) we were anxious to eat .....but was disappointed by having a cold pepperoni pizza, a semi warm meat pizza and hot cheese sticks. My 3rd time trying this location and no more for me! Every time I order, there is always something that they don't have (no cheese packets) or the order isn't right. This time I ordered online, specified soft crust. My crust was hard and burnt. I don't know what kind of sausage was on my pizzas but yuck! Sausage did not look or taste like real meat. The young, black cashier girl is about as pleasant as a dried up can of paint. She has absolutely no personality. The older, white woman was pleasant and apologetic for not having cheese packets but I'd pretty much looked at both of my 12" pizzas that looked like Tony's Titos pizzas from Kroger freezer department and had made up my mind that I wouldn't be back! Those pizzas were not worth $55.00. If my grandchildren had not been tired, hungry and wanting pizza (no stove in the hotel), I would've cancelled the order and went elsewhere. FYI: For all customers reading this review, you can go to Aldi or Kroger and get a much better pizza! Somebody is lying (possibly management and /or employees) with those raving reviews I read!! This is my favorite pizza restaurant of all time! I've been eating here since I was a small child & they impress me with every return . Their pizza is seriously like no other. Their salads are delicious, gigantic, & very filling as well. I recommend the shrimp salad. They are very generous with their salad servings, so you will most likely have leftovers. In regards to pizza recommendations, I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend their Exliner w/ sausage. I've literally traveled the world & I have yet to eat a pizza that compares to it. Oddest pizza experience I've had in quite a while. My family and I were in town to visit Graceland. Memphis isn't exactly known for pizza so our expectations were pretty low. We ordered fried zucchini to start and a cheese pizza. They both came out together. The zucchini looked extremely dark. This usually means the oil is way past it's time. It obviously was just some food service frozen stuff. It was super greasy and flavorless. The pizza in my opinion resembled a doctored up store bought Tombstone pizza with the cardboard and all! It was also cut into several small squares which isn't something you see unless you get a Sicilian style pizza. It was pretty flavorless and bland as well. The crust is by far the worst I've ever had from a restaurant. Our server was polite and courteous but very seldom seen. We weren't sure if we were waiting for a check or if we should get up and go to the register. The food is edible but not very good at all. I'm not sure how this place has so many locations. read more

Although the pizza was certainly delicious. 1 hour and 10 minutes after placing it.... of course I did have it delivered and of course their was an order before me to be delivered first. It wasn't exactly melty cheese or juicy sauce. This normally happens when cheese cools and sauce dries due to sitting. Either my uber eats was lying when the gos also said he was sitting outside the restaurant for 45 minutes, or (and I doubt) it was the additional 15 minutes it took for the delivery guy to bring the other order first an extra 3 miles past me. Even though I was 1 block from exlines and he had to pass in front of me to bring the other order. Price wise, it would be worth it to sit in and eat, but looking at the times the pie took to cook, not sure. Maybe order it first, then later that week go in and check on it. read more
