Set an appointment, no show. Turns out when I called I wasn't entered into the system properly. Came the next day, nice tech, part ordered. No show on the return visit. Comes the next day. Can't install my part because my water supply is copper and he says the company doesn't allow him to turn it off. I have some temporary grip strength issues, tried, but couldn't. Finally after 4 days at home waiting, I give up. They gave me a refund and I went elsewhere. read more

After a really bad experience with another company, I was hesitant. I read all of this company's reviews and I agree wholeheartedly. I emailed for an appointment at night and the next day I received a call. Saturday morning appointment. Service tech came out, Robert, was wonderful. He took his time explained everything to us and our options. I really like the texts letting me know the ETA of the technician and the invoice came immediately to my phone while Robert was standing in my kitchen. The company is efficient. I've had them come out for two different repairs and had mixed results. The first time was in July. We had just moved in and the heat stopped going on the dryer. Two guys came out, they were friendly and efficient and got the job done. More recently our washing machine started acting up. I noticed on a Tuesday that the noises from it just didn't sound right, it seemed to be lingering in the sensing mode, and I thought I smelled something burning. I called and was told they'd be able to send someone out on Thursday between 2 and 4. At 3:30 I got a text saying he'd be there within 30 minutes. He ended up getting here around 4:10. He ran the washing machine and told me it was fine. I said I didn't think the noises sounded right, but he said it was working, so it was ok. He basically had me convinced I was just crazy. He wasn't friendly either. Not rude, but just no smile, said the minimum he could, charged $79 and left. On Saturday morning, I tried to run it and it definitely stayed in sensing mode and had a clear burning motor smell. I called them back and asked for someone different to come check it out. They said they couldn't get me someone that day, and it wouldn't be until Tuesday unless I wanted the same guy to come back out on Monday (which I didn't). I was working from home Tuesday, so didn't pay careful attention to the time she told me, but I thought it was 10-12. When 12 came and I hadn't heard anything I called to ask what the scheduled time was. It seemed she didn't have it recorded anywhere and had to call her techs to see when someone could come, which made me wonder if I was even scheduled. I was told it would now be between 2 and 4, which I'm fairly certain wasn't the original time since I thought to myself it was a different time than the first appointment. At 3:55 he called to say he'd be there in 20-25 minutes and ended up getting there are 4:20. This guy was much friendlier and they did not charge me for the follow up. He checked it out and determined that the motor was burned out. Since this would be a $500+ repair, we opted not to fix it and just buy a new washer. In summary... don't expect them to be on time and some of their techs are good while others clearly are not. read more

One of the worst customer service experience. The appointment was scheduled for 10 to 12 on Saturday and the technician was supposed to call us when he was on the way. At 11.45 we made the first call to the office at:410-715-7506 to let them know that we have not heard from anyone. No one answered and so we left the voice message. Between 11.45 to pm, we called and spoke with the main person at least 5 times, and were told that the tech would be coming within the next hour. Finally, at 3.30 we gave up, decided to move with our plans for the weekend, called other company (Crest Appliances) to schedule an appointment for Monday. Such poor service just to get someone to come and assess the problem with our washer - i'm glad i did not do business with these guys. I don't know this company, and just went by the positive reviews online. I would highly recommend you to think twice before calling them. read more

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY I hired Expert Appliance Repair to fix my washer. They were unable to fix the washer and I paid the service fee...which was expected. Unknown to me, however, they left the water running on the leaky washer, and it flooded my downstairs overnight. When I called the next morning to report the problem and request them to send a remediation crew to clean up the water and repair damages, they denied responsibility and refused to respond. I hired a remediation crew who came out immediately and am stuck with the several thousand dollar bill and 4 days of disruption while the clean up and drying work continues. Their response was "why would that be our responsibility?" Do not hire this company. They are inept, and refuse liability for their errors. read more

Very quick to schedule service on a weekend for my squealing washing machine. The technician was on time and they use a device that alerts you to when they are one their way so you are always informed. Luckily my problem was very simple and the technician was very nice and helpful in resolving my problem (and ignoring the giant dust bunnies from under the appliance). Unresponsive. On July 5th, I made an appointment for between 4-6 pm on July 5th, and then received both an email and text confirmation. That was great as far as it went. When I had no communication by 5:49 pm on July 5th, I called and received a callback. We spoke at 5:54 pm and I go ta promise to find out where the tech was. OK, that was reasonable, but when I had again heard nothing, I again called at 6:43 pm. This time I was promised that the manager would call me. Nothing. Silence, so I again called at 7:23 pm and left a message, this time demanding a call back at 8 am this morning. Nothing. Silence. I called them this morning. No response. The total for the work was 200 dollars, and we were quoted over 300 from other repair shops. I read good reviews about this company when looking for our fridge repairs. It's confusing that some negative reviews here actually refer to California (while the company is in Maryland). Anyway, our experience is really very positive. We asked for Francis (as I read in some reviews), and he is wonderful. First, it's extremely easy to make the appointment. They respond right away and try accommodate you the best they can, even in this difficule pandemic time. They send you confirmation immediately by text. They also send you text when the technician is on the way, and he called us, too, to say when he was arriving (very good given that we need to remove food from the fridge!). Francis is absolutely great (make sure to ask for him!). He spent time to understand our issue and to thoroughly check the fridge. He diagnosed the problem correctly (we had 3 technicians previously through Choice home warranty, and some of them were saying things that didn't make sense at all, or offering solutions that just couldn't work long-term; one of them actually made the problem worse with his attempt to adjust the fridge door), and explained us our options, including estimated prices and offering various practical considerations. He also gave us a lot of useful advices on the types of fridges and brands (in case we decide to replace it) - I wish we knew some of those things when we were buying our current fridge. In addition, Francis is super friendly. We also appreciated that he did wear his mask correctly the whole time (previous technicians from home warranty were not that careful about COVID protection, wearing thier masks incorrectly or removing them altogether periodically). We are still to decide which repair option to choose, but whatever we do, we'll definitely go with this company. read more

Although they arrived on time, that is the only thing I can recommend. They charged me $129.00 to take my freezer drawer out and put it back. This was to realign the door so it would close properly. What they did actually made it harder to open and close. They said it would pull itself shut at a certain spot, but it doesn't. I would have called them back (they have a warranty for 90 days) but I don't trust them to correct this problem. They deserve 0 stars. read more

I was woken one morning by the temperature alarm going off on my refrigerator. I called EAR, and they sent someone out the next day (I had to work that day). The technician, Seif, came out and spent time to correctly diagnose the problem. He worked with my schedule to get the part, and come back after my work the next day to fix it. Other companies I've worked with charged $100 just to come out, but they charge less, and take the appraisal charge off of your bill. We chose Expert Appliance Repair by reading all their glowing reviews on google. We were not disappointed at all! Our front-load washing machine stopped working just days before we were planning to leave for vacation. We called for service on Monday morning and the technicians were there that afternoon! They came in, diagnosed our problem, fixed it and were out the door in less than an hour! We felt they were extremely honest and very reasonably priced. This guy is a joke. Didn't return voice mails, didn't show up when he had promised. Don't waste your time.

I scheduled the appointment for the next day, called back to give them a secondary phone number in case they couldn't reach me on my primary number, and they had the wrong address and phone number in their system. If I had not called back, they would have had the wrong address and no way to contact me. So the next day, the tech calls and tells me he's having trouble finding me because he's still looking for the incorrect address they had originally. So he comes in looks at the job, which is just replacing a burner on a glass top stove. I already had the stove top opened, circuit breaker off, and replacement part ready. Tech says he's going to charge me $190. When I told him that was out of the question he immediately dropped down to $170. I told him I was still surprised it would cost that much for a 10-minute repair. I asked what their company charges hourly for labor, and he simply said we don't do it that way. I told him to go ahead and complete the job but that I was not happy with the price. When he was done, he gave me an additional 10% discount which I appreciate. No one has called since, so I brought in another company to do the work. Companies must not be very hard up for business if they can blow off customers without even a courtesy call. read more

After reading mostly good reviews, I got in touch with Expert Appliance Repair , when my washing machine suddenly started making a loud knocking sound on spin cycle, and would not drain the water. The lady who made the appointment said the tech would call me about 1/2 hour before arrival. The tech called and arrived as promised.After opening the washing machine, he told me the washing machine seemed fine. He then asked to see the bath rug I had tried to wash and told me the heavy bath rug had probably tilted the balance of the inner tub, making it knock against the outer, and because of the tilt, the water could not drain out. And he was right- when I ran the machine with regular laundry, it worked just fine! He just charged me the diagnostic fee - did not try to replace parts of the washer that didnt need replacing. I totally agree with a previous reviewer - the tech was honest, efficient and very knowledgeable.Would most definitely recommend them! read more

I rarely write reviews. So the fact that I am taking the time to recommend Expert Appliance Repair speaks volumes. I've called EAR on several occasions over the years (clothes washer, refrigerator, oven and dishwasher). On each and every visit Raja was timely, professional, courteous and extremely helpful. What makes EAR stand out is the ability to explain the problem and be very honest about treatment options. In fact, I referred EAR to my mom in Columbia. While calling EAR for an apt., she explained the issues with her dryer to Raja. He was honest enough to say he was certain it was not fixable based on its age and condition. He encouraged her to not make an apt. and put her $ into a new machine. In addition, EAR technicians are not just "Sears" robot technicians who just do basic repairs. In fact, Raja has saved me hundreds of dollars by knowing how to fix the mother board on my full refrig/freezer unit and how to salvage the ice maker motor that had become frozen due to a water line leak. They are just creative problem solvers that use good old fashion detective work to get at the root cause. We are about to have a full house for Thanksgiving and I called Raja to check an oven that notoriously doesn't warm well when many items are in at the same time. If you have any concerns about your appliances b4 a holiday call early, all repair places get last minute frantic calls. That won't me be this Thanksgiving.
