The Guy pretends not to speak English. He does Sloppy work. And on top of that if you leave your bike he'll pick parts of your bike. I have know this guy since he was at the swap meet. I drop of my mint condition schwin circuit hybrid. For back break wiring. And he returned me a another bike.. I'm returning today to let him know I noticed. He's no good. They moved out of the Union Discount swapmeet and now have their own store front. Still the same exact service, same exact wonderful people, bigger store and slightly further towards Korea Town. This place is more to buy a bike, not repair one. I should have known not to trust them with my mountain bikes when I saw they didn't have any in the shop.... It took them two days to tune up one bike and set up tubeless on the other, and I had to call a couple times just to know when to come get my bikes back. I just crashed my bike on the street because the tubeless setup didn't hold, and the tire went flat after I went off a curb at an angle...but nothing nearly as forceful as riding mountain trails and jumps...the shop is fine but they suck at repairs. read more

Had a great experience getting new tires for an old road bike. They gave me options in lower to higher price tires at reasonable prices and offered quick service. I called ahead to make sure they weren't too busy first. He caught that the gears weren't working and fixed that quickly as well. And bonus - parking lot! Only go here if you're trying to get your kids' bikes fixed or you've got a cheap bike from Costco/one of the of the big box retailers and need it to run. I paid for a tune up and they hardly did anything at all and my tire went flat within a week with no use whatsoever. I took it back to them and they didn't want to discuss the work they had(n't) done - just pushed to install tube guards. Poor customer service. I had to take it to another shop to have the tune up done properly and the staff there was marveling at all of the work that still needed to be done for a complete tune up. Moral: you get what you pay for and this is Payless quality or worse - 99 cent store. read more

I broke my bike chain last week and was so bummed about it. My bike is my therapy so I didn't get to ride it until I took it somewhere to get repaired. I found Express Bikes here on yelp and since it's closeby, I decided to give it a try. I walked into the swap meet, found their location, and the guy asked me to wait while he fixed it. 10-15 mins later my bike was ready and riding better than ever! It didn't cost me much either. Highly recommend for repairs and service! I needed a full overhaul of my drivetrain on my 27-speed Specialized mountain bike. I am mechanically inclined for small repairs, but this level of work was outside my skill set and patience. Based on some initial recommendations and research on trouble-shooting gear slippage prior to finding this shop, I had purchased brand name parts online (rear derailleur, cassette, and triple-ring crankset, and new chain). The only piece I forgot to order was the bottom bracket that accompanies my specific crankset, which I was able to purchase from Express Bike, and was glad they had the item in stock for me. I was told to expect a week turnaround, which was fine since I was not in any rush. Sandra and Lee, the lovely couple, were great at contacting me mid-way thru to let me know of a potential issue with one of the parts I brought in. After I stopped by to have a look at what they were referring to, I deemed it so minor, I was surprised it warranted a call to me at all. But it gave me reassurance they cared and payed very close attention to every minor detail. After the work was completed, Lee thoroughly put my bike through a rigorous test and readjusted the derailleur and gears as needed, and even cleaned up my bike so it looked as new as the day I bought it. The cost of repairs was quite reasonable and inexpensive compared to several other shops I had called prior to get an idea of what to expect. There were no surprise up-charges for products or services that weren't needed. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience. I've been on several lengthy rides since, and have had no issues whatsoever. Everything runs as smooth as new. I'm so glad I found this shop, and will be happy to continue supporting this locally-owned business with all my biking needs. I hope others will give them a try, and will be as satisfied with their service as I was. read more

Love love love this Korean couple! My boyfriend and I took both of our bikes there for two different reasons. I wanted a quick release done to my beach cruiser and they charged only $15 for the part and labor! another place was trying to charge me $50. My boyfriends bike had off alignment and would steer on its own badly.,, they adjusted his alignment for free!!! Super sweet and quick service! They recently moved locations and I can't find their new location :-( . I need service on my old bike from childhood! read more

Wow! They did in 60 minutes for $30 what the hipster bike shop a mile away would do for 3x that in a few days time. And after 20 years in LA, going to this shop, made me discover the Union Swapmeet for the first time. All kinds of odd little shops with great buys on everything from jeans, belts, and hats to health and beauty and even a couple pretty good restaurants to eat at while your repair is made. Based on my experience with this shop, I would definitely recommend them if your bike needs attention. read more

Its attended by a very nice Korean lady, and his gruppy husband, he is very good at repairing and not too expensive, but if any thing goes wrong and you​ come back, there is absolutely no warranty. In his own words "I do my work perfectly always, if something went wrong it is you fault and I can repair it but you need to pay again". Absolutely no service attitude at all. Great service from this community-oriented vendor makes it a hidden gem in this city filled with trendy and expensive bicycle shops. Local kids came through to say hi and pump up their tires, parents came to pick out bikes for their children. I went to get some new pedals, handlebars and tape, tires and tubes, and brake shoes. The shop is owned and run by a couple... they are sweet, honest, and work hard. I'm a satisfied customer and would return for future tune-ups at this family friendly shop. FYI: they're located inside a swap meet but hard to miss. Just look for all the tires strung up in the corridor! read more

Very great service!!! I came in with a snapped spoke so this would mean I needed a wheel trued out + a spoke & nipple. Not only did the job get done the the same hour, but the I got a better price rate than the next local bike shop, which required I leave my bike or wheel with them untill the next day. I was in the middle of work as a bike messenger & Express Bike helped me get back on the road in 30/45 minutes. I was able to buy Lights and exta inner tubes because the prices are very good. Now I will make this place my next GO-TO bike shop, and service all my 8 bikes with this shop. Say goodbye to the wait & hello to same day services.
