My daughter is a new driver so I took her to get her first oil change and Lindsay was so kind to my daughter and took his time to make sure he showed my daughter how everything worked on the car so she would feel confident the next time she gets an oil change without me. I've come here in the past, and have never really had a problem. I like that oil changes take 10 minutes and I can stay in my car. It costs a little more than your standard Walmart oil change, but I'll pay more for convenience. Last week I went in and asked for an oil change and for my tires to be rotated and balanced. They changed my oil and called me to my car and said I needed two new tires! What?!? I had just purchased four new tires a year ago. They gave me the pricing, and I said I'd think about it. It's difficult for me to find an Express Oil Change location that doesn't make me feel objectified and offended. But then I happened up on the Hwy 280 location and was pleasantly surprised. What a grand group of guys that didn't gawk at me, try to get my number or upsell me on things I didn't need. They did a quick and efficient oil change and we did have a bit of nice conversation. My son took vehicle for oil change and they suggested tire rotation due to uneven wear....we just bought 4 brand new tires at Costco 2 weeks ago!!!! Had a similar ripoff at this location 4-5 years ago when they told my wife Lexus needed roughly $1500 service which she did unwittingly. The car had been serviced by Lexus 6 months previously with no mention. I called dealership afterwards and they said BS. If they tell you that you need service on your car, get a second opinion. They quoted my daughter almost $700 in repairs for a so called oil leak. She got a second opinion, and found out nothing was wrong. Express oil has had a bad reputation for years. This confirms it. Stay away from this place. read more

Edit: After filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, they agreed to refund the $30 upcharge. DO NOT EVER GO HERE!!!!! I was quoted around $40 for an oil change, which was cheaper than my dealer, but when I took the car in, they charged me $70 because of a "synthetic oil upgrade." I questioned them and asked for my money back, and they refused, saying that there was no oil change for that price and they wanted to know who had quoted me that. I didn't want to get the nice person who gave me the quote in trouble, and luckily I couldn't remember his name. I asked to speak to a manager, and they just put me on hold. I checked with my dealer, who told me that full synthetic oil shouldn't even have been used in my car in the first place, and when I called them back and told them that, they called my dealer a liar. So far today they've called my mother (who got the quote), me (who also knew the quote), my boyfriend (who didn't agree to the synthetic oil upgrade but agreed to let them check and see if it was needed), my father (who called the dealership), and my dealer all liars. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Unless, of course, you enjoy being insulted and overcharged. read more

Yesterday, I took my 02 Buick LaSabre to the Express Oil Change on Highway 280 in Birmingham AL. I went to get an oil change, and to have them inspect my car to make sure all lights are working, as I was getting it inspected in traffic court the next day. They charged me $72.92 for both the oil change and tag light. They finished a few minutes before close, but as I drove away, my windshield wipers started firing automatically, while in the off position. I was unable to call them back as they were closed. Today, after work and getting my car inspected in traffic court, I drove back to the same location I got it done the night prior. They took the car for an hour, then explained that I need a new windshield motor. They quoted me over 300 dollars for this repair, and refused to admit any guilt or honor any warranty. By this time, the windshield has stopped working altogether. I explained that I've never had any issue with wipers, but driving off the lot from getting service, they fail completely. Jack, the manager of the store, disregarded my point completely and refused to admit any possibility his tech was clueless. This behavior is corrupt and unacceptable, this store damaged my car and then quoted me over 300 dollars to fix something they caused. I will never be back to this location or franchise, as their greed and disregard for customer loyalty or even honesty is absolutely despicable. read more

BEWARE: I took my vehicle in for a front end noise. After inspection I was told a front passenger side Strut was needed that the casing was cracked. Tire Engineers decided it best to replace both front Struts at a cost of $800.00. After driving the car the noise started back up. After taking the car back I was told after further inspection that they had gotten a bad Strut (what are the odds right). They stated they would reorder the Strut under warranty and replace it. I then called and spoke with store manager Jeff to make sure he was in the loop. Jeff stated he would communicate it to their Service Manager Jack who would take care of it . So I took it back in on Saturday as Jeff said they would have a full crew then. I took it back in only to sit for 4.5 hours and was told after inspection that the noise was coming from the front passenger side Ball Joints. The cost to replace those would be $959.00. I asked about the Strut replacements why did that not fix the issue only to be told by Jack that the "Strut/Struts was only the starting point". After asking if they could help me cost wise. Jack stated that I could save approximately $400.00 If I wanted to pick up the parts. I asked how was that possible and Jack stated I could get their discount. This tells me a couple of things #1 They don't know what their doing & #2 Their marking up their parts a 100% or double what they pay for them. To prove my point, I took it to a proven auto repair shop who checked it. It was the brake caliper hardware. A front brake job was then performed complete with new hardware, noise gone and cost was only $300.00. My costly lesson and advice is to never take your vehicle to an oil change operation using untrained Oil & Tire Techs who haven't a clue. Also will be filling this with the BBB. read more
