Overall, I am very satisfied with my experience and will highly recommend the facility to others, since the front office staff is always willing to work with you on monthly charges, the facility is clean, and accessibility is very good. read more

The good: the on site manager is top notch, very responsive, and provides excellent customer service. The bad (and this is why I 100% do NOT recommend renting here): I've rented from here three separate times, each time getting the "Web" rate from their website. Each time I've had my rental rate raised within 3 to 5 months. Each time the amount it was raised was over 70%, and one occurrence it was double. This is not due to an "intro" rate. The notice sent just mentions period review of market conditions. Obvious attempt at bait-and-switch. I play the game, because this facility is so close to my home. Now I have to go through the ridiculous game of re-renting online and moving my unit to one of the same size to get a lower rate. Great manager, terrible business model! read more

We've used Extra Space Storage for several years because our townhouse does not have enough space to store everything our family needs. We've been happy. It's a clean, well-run facility. It feels very secure; there are three electronic locks that require a password to get to our storage unit plus there is a good, stout key lock on the unit itself. Storage spaces are expensive and a cost no one wants, but I chose this facility because they were honest! I didn't like some if what was said, but at no time did I feel I was being lied to or that they were just trying to close the deal. Honesty in business is rare these days but such a pleasure to find! If you need a place to store your belongings. I do not recommend this place, all because of their corporate office. The local staff/management are nice and quiet helpful. No complaints their, the complaint lies with their corporate suits. I have had a storage unit with them for close to 3 years and in those 3 year price of rent went up approx $15. That's expected with over time, but yesterday I received a notice in the mail that my rate had increased, so I was expecting another $5-$10 jump. But oh no, to my surprise the rent nearly doubled! From $83 a month to $150 a month, that is ridiculous. I could rent a garage for that price not a 10x7. Shop around, even if there is one near you. Drive on buy and look elsewhere. Sitting in parking lot at Extra Space Storage where I have rented two units (and another at a different site) for years. As always staff is fantastic. This time my partner's father sold his house to move to Florida and I am going to pick up some furniture which I currently have no room for. Called Extra Space and had the great fortune if reaching Ahad Alam the Assistant store manager. He understood my need perfectly and we agreed to swap one of my two units for a larger one. Two hours later I have seen the space (Ahad even found one near my other) and have completed the move, giving me plenty of space for whatever I bring back. As the larger space is as much space as two smaller a but not twice the rate it was even a good price for the doubled space, and the two I now have, as before are near enough to each other that the total space is quite convenient - and as always, spotless. As storage is to make your life easier, it was a joy to not only get space but A+assistance to complete the move with minimal effort. Keep up the great work guys. read more

Hands down, Extra Space Storage in Ashburn, VA, is the best storage facility in the area. I have had my belongings at this location for about five years. The customer service provided here is second to none, the location and cleanliness of the facility are my reasons for choosing this location. In addition, the price for their units is more economical than other storage facilities in the area, an essential factor when looking at price points. First off the facility is very nice and clean and staff was always polite and professional. I had a unit here for approximately a year and a half. In that time they raised the price 2 times. The first was from 70-90, then just recently I recieved a notification that the cost was going to be raised again, but this time to $190.00. I of course thought this must be a mistake so called to ask about it. I was told they would call me back shortly as he is with another customer. 2 hours pass and I never get that call back so I went in to talk to them about it. I was told it's not a mistake but that they could help me out and come down to 165. When I asked why the price was more than doubling I was told that it's because other local storage places have raised their prices so they were just matching it. I pointed out several local places within 10 minutes that I could still rent from for under 100 for the same price and they just shrugged their shoulders. I informed them I would be closing my account and moving to another facility 10 minutes down the road. The gentleman asked if I would wait for the manager to call me about it to see if there was anything he could do and he would be in the office in an hour. I said that's fine and left. The manager did call but only about 5 hours later. There was nothing he could do so I told him I would be taking my business elsewhere. Bottom line, buyer beware, they will out of nowhere raise your price to a rediculous rates and you are stuck paying then or wasting a whole Saturday renting a trailer and moving your stuff down the road. The facility is nice and clean but in under 2 years to go from $70 to $190 is absurd. read more

Still no resolve. They know they messed up but instead of correcting the mistake, they have offered me a $50 credit. I am so upset at the lack of customer service the the insult of this I really caution anyone that considers this place. It's to bad because the facility is nice, but for them to mess up and hold you responsible for their mistake and then your items hostage until you pay for their mistake. Really not ok. BTW... this started December 15th. I have been very patient in giving them the opportunity to correct this and do the right thing. read more
