From day one, I said that I needed to make my payments on the 15th, when I get paid. Every month for over a year on the 6th-8th I start getting calls and emails that I'm late and, more importantly, every month I get charged over $100 in late fees. They also charged a large annual increase (about $50) without any notice that is non-negotiable. All for units that are full of vermin. Both of my units are overrun with mice/rats. Literally half of what I'm paying to store will have to be thrown out because of vermin damage. If I had an extra $1,000 to hire people and a truck to move my items to a different, better facility I would. I have another larger unit in a different location and haven't had any problems with them. Extra Space doesn't work with you financially because they don't have to; they know they have you over a barrel. Warning: do not rent here!!! The people are great, but once you store your things, you're stuck.

I completed the payment before 3:05 pm the same day. Afterwards, I tried calling multiple times before 5:00 pm, but every time I reached a message saying they were out of office. On Sunday at 9:30 pm, I arrived with a U-Haul truck and could not get inside the unit. I used their video assistant, and a representative named Lisa gave me a code. She also told me the building locks at 10:00 pm for security purposes, which meant I had only 30 minutes to unload. I got inside the building, but the code did not work for the elevator. When I called back, they told me my unit might actually be in the Annex building at 300 Mill St.--even though my welcome email clearly listed 223 Mill St, Vienna, VA 22180. At the Annex building, the first thing I noticed was the urine smell and mouse traps. The old carts barely fit through the single-door entrance. When I reached my unit, there were mouse droppings inside (I have photo proof). As we were unloading our last load, the building locked at 10:00 pm, leaving half of my belongings trapped inside a rodent-infested unit with the door open. Lisa had reassured me not to rush and said I could call back to get help after 10:00 pm--but nobody answered despite my repeated calls for 20 minutes. By then, I was completely overwhelmed. This was one of the most dreadful experiences I have ever had with a company. Stay away!
