Closes at 10 pm. It is not 24 gour access. No free lock as someone else had stated. All storage units are outside or in a trailer. Very little parking. ( Like 7 total spaces, and when I called to get the gate code to get in there the girl told me she would send it to my email I never received it I called back and someone else answered and said that they don't send it to the email and she doesn't know why they would say that and then proceeded to give me a hard time to get any information that said for me to come in buzz from downstairs and from outside actually and wait and show ID and all that when I have an account then I went online and she told me and is still would not allow me to accept it that I did not have an account even though they're sending email saying it was all working and my new account is active every time I try to go into it it would deny me and it's frustrating no professionalism only to greet you and make you feel welcome to get your money. read more

This place is ridiculous. After 20 minutes on the phone with the 800 number and I spent another 10 minutes with the local person that called me. I show up here and the storage unit is down a stairwell and through a door and I have a mattress and bedframe and everything with me with nobody to help me unload it. Unbelievable. read more

BAIT & SWITCH RATE CHANGE BEWARE... I had leased a unit at Extra Space Storage the second half of 2023 and after 3 or 4 months my rate instantly increased 74% with absolutely not forewarning. The Rep at this Extra Space Storage branch @ 1560 Frazee Rd San Diego, CA 92108 claims a notification letter was mailed to me, but I did not receive a thing from them. This type of behavior is completely unethical, and this is what you can expect if/when you sign up for a unit with Extra Space Storage. Had I known my rate would almost double within a couple months I would have never chosen to lease a unit from Extra Space Storage, now I am left having to waste a weekend of my life to relocate my unit to a different provider. read more

I wish I'd done more research into storage facilities before renting one here, but I was in a time crunch and needed one immediately. The first month is free which is nice. The hills are super awkward, and if someone is parked just a few inches too far away from a building then there's no possible way for another car to pass. This place is also super overpriced, $184/month for a non-temp controlled 5x10 in a building that is less than secure. The only thing stopping anyone from the outside from your belongings is the little lock on your unit door. This place is probably best for super short term storage, any longer and you'd be at risk of having your things stolen. read more

Management could tell my boyfriend and I were a little confused as to where our storage unit was, as they were under a little construction building some more units, and just by simply watching drive to is and helped us out. Be ready for lots of awkward slopes and ramps if you're moving large items around. Also a great layout for an exit gate on a high hill (sarcasm) that makes it difficult for two vehicles to pass one another when entering/leaving (especially if you're coming down the hill and trying to leave) talk about awkward 25 point turns. And as usual with almost any storage facility, rates constantly go up for no apparent rhyme or reason other than they fact that' they can just raise the rate whenever they want. These are non-temperature controlled bungalow styled storage blocks. So if it's hot outside, the. It's boiling inside. If it's cold outside then it's freezing inside. There's a plus: each unit comes with one light bulb on a string. So if you want an overpriced, outdoor, non-temperature controlled bungalow styled storage facility with staffers that aren't always in the office during posted business times that's awkwardly located on the top of a large hill then this is the place for you! read more

I've only been there 3 months and they raised my rates WITHOUT notice $58. From $115 to $173. I was aware there would be a rate increase, but was told it's usually after the first six months and was unaware it would be a 50% rate increase. What an absolute rip off and scam. Horrible customer service..gentleman by the name of Beau answered the phone as I was inquiring about a 10x25 unit to store my vehicle. Asked a simple request to pull my classic vehicle in dude the vehicle being valued at a high dollar amount, and Beau with his condescending attitudes said "ummmm nope" I'm not ok with you pulling your vehicle in there unless you are going to rent it. I replied with it is a simple request that will take only a minute and he said nope. It's like a one car garage just imagine that. I replied to him that he is being rude and giving horrible customer service. He was 100% careless to my feedback and replied "welp have a good day" and hung up the phone. As a Lock it locked customer I will be withdrawing my belongings and going somewhere else. This place sucks now due to people like Beau it's a shame that the easiest part of your job "customer service" is very lacking. read more

This place has zero security. Their main gate at the bottom of the hill is left open during all business hours, even though I was told it was supposed to be locked, so all the homeless people who live in the area can come and go as they please. The outdoor security camera by the door of my unit was not working when my space was broken into and all the contents were stolen, so they couldn't get any footage of the thief. The doors to the individual buildings are not locked, so anyone can walk in, and there are no cameras once thieves and homeless are inside the hallways. The top front wall of each unit has a foot high opening so anyone can use their camera to see the contents of a unit so they can break in and rob you blind. At the bottom of the hill, look around at all the homeless who live in their cars and go back and forth to their units. read more

This place used to be Lock it Lockers and the employees then were awesome and customer service oriented. Now its Extra Space Storage, and believe me it's NO Lock it Lockers. New employees are not customer service oriented. They have attitudes though will play act all friendly at first. Once you sign up though, your are nothing and they will not go out of their way with you for ANYTHING! Don't listen to new customers because they don't know any better. I haven't been a tenant at this location for very long but from the start I felt very welcomed and customer service was impeccable. Having worked as both a customer service representative and in the service industry I know how much is expected and what is above and beyond the customer service role. I am truly impressed and the genuine attitude and professionalism of their staff. That was until yesterday when a friend and myself were deemed to be loitering because we decided to rest for a moment and talk on property; having arrived 15 minutes prior. I'm not even upset for being reprimanded because after all that is their job. However, there are proper ways to go about things and the way this was handled shocked me. First of all I had a friend with me and she isn't aware of company policy as she was merely my ride to my storage unit that day and I think proper decorum would be to talk privately if only because no prior discussion had taken place and we had only been there 15 minutes total; not hours. Everyone is entitled to a bad day and so I still think 4 stars is appropriate. Maybe a conflict resolution course or situational etiquette course may be helpful. used this place for storage and eventually i no longer needed it. i went in to speak to someone, his name was phillip, and i was there for 45-60 minutes while he was arguing with another customer. i was eventually helped and he said to give them 10 days notice before my next payment is due because i no longer needed the space. i had already moved out of the space and they called me 4-5 days after my payment due date saying that i'm late on my payment and owed late fees. i told them i had already given my notice and had moved everything out of the space already. but then they said because the lock was on the storage unit, i had to pay for another month of storage plus the late fees. no one told me that i had to leave the storage space unlocked and they were made aware that i was no longer in the space, so the fact that they waited until after the payment date (and late fees were added on) to contact me about it and tell me i now had to owe money on a storage unit i wasnt using is a really shady way to run business. extremely disappointed with the customer service, rude employees and manager and shady business practices. -shaina c read more
