HORRIBLE! They dropped our car off in front of Goodyear IN THE RED ZONE... Towed that night, along with three others conveniently. It was to be left on private property, NOT the street. They are partners with AAA (who is livid after the complaint and we are still working with them to make this right)- Extreme Towing got paid from AAA then again (almost $600 from us "cash only"). I was getting a bite to eat and I got in my car to start it and realized my battery died. I looked over and there was an extreme tow truck with a driver parked waiting for the tow truck office to open in 5 min. I politely asked if he could give me a quick jump. He replied,"I'll have to charge you." I assumed so and asked how much. He said he would charge me $200!!!! SERIOUS? What happened to human kindness. I would have given him something, maybe even bought him a bagel and juice also. That little favor would have prevented me from having to have a friend drive across town and me being late to work missing out on income. Terrible experience. The tow company totaled our car during transport. When we first contacted the tow company after the accident the manager tried to buy it from us directly without going through insurance, which we declined. After choosing to go through insurance, we contacted him to retrieve our car and he became upset and suddenly mentioned undisclosed storage fees, refusing to release our car until they were paid. We had to involve their insurance again and AAA to get our car back--nearly two months of constant calls and stress. We were understanding that accidents happen, but after being stonewalled and having them use "storage fees" to keep our car hostage because the manager didn't get his way is completely unprofessional. I have been in and around the car business, wholesale and retail, since 1971. I have experienced interaction with over a hundred tow truck drivers. Yesterday afternoon the starter failed on my favorite but tired work truck. Upon calling AAA road service, I was informed it might be up to an hour wait. Four minutes later I received a call from Polo telling me he was three minutes away. Eighteen minutes after my initial call Polo had my truck efficiently and professionally loaded on his flatbed and we were on our way. The ride to my chosen repair shop was made comfortable with Polos friendly demeanor and assistance contacting the shop. Most tow truck calls are accompanied by anxious or even angry people and the patient and confident responses from Polo are what is needed in those instances. Breakdowns are never fun, but a first class knowledgeable driver that can make the customer comfortable under trying circumstances is invaluable. My husband's truck was hit on Highway 17 by an Extreme Towing tow truck in January. The driver was using the center divide to try to get to an accident on 17 and hit his side mirror then kept going. CHP took a report, went to Extreme Towing did measurements etc and found the tow truck that had hit his truck and found they were at fault. We sent the CHP report and contact information to our insurance company. The company will not return emails or phone calls from our insurance or myself. Since January! TERRIBLE! Was assigned to them through my AAA roadside assistance late at night, and after waiting an hour to get connected they informed me they could not take my car the whole distance due to only one tower being on the clock. I ended up storing my vehicle with them overnight and after talking to them at 8am the next morning I was told it would be on a truck by 9am. Around 10:30am i called and was told they pushed my tow back to 11am but never notified me. At 12 i decided to go through AAA for updates and was told it was en route. At 12:30 i called back to get an estimated time of arrival so i can meet the car at the mechanic and was told it was still in the same location as thirty minutes prior because they were completing other jobs with my car on the bed yet they never communicated this delay to me. After having AAA documented all of this for their records the company finally called me within minutes and accused me of lying to AAA! Terrible experience and they lack communication with their clients. They claim to be a first come service but yet delayed my transport for smaller jobs while en route to me and worst of all never cared to let me know this. Ended up getting my car at 2pm even though i was told 10:30am earlier that morning when i called at 8am. read more

July 10th 2023 by Safeway on Soquel, Santa Cruz CA, truck tried to run me off the road for no apparent reason. Apparently dude thought he had a right of way speeding to a red light. Lots of swearing from him. Didn't really get it. "Extreme" and unnecessary behavior. Even if there was some sort of unknown lane violation that I did (I did not) why drive into someone's lane swearing and boxing me out in a what was some type of semi-rig painted in green flames or goo etc. It was a pitiful road rage act from tow truck driver apparently needing to get back to San Jose. My wife and I were stuck in a torrential rain storm in Scotts Valley, in our motorhome. The man from extreme towing had me go out and take pictures of my motorhome, in the rain, after he already told us he would come and get us. It's a small 25 foot motorhome. Then after waiting for almost an hour, we contacted him, and he said he wouldn't be able to come and get us today, not for a whole week, like it was no big deal. In addition, the person I spoke to on the phone had a really bad attitude, and I could tell he didn't care whether I was stuck in a rainstorm or not. Extreme must mean extremely bad. When the driver arrived the first time he was going so fast that he missed us and had to loop around to pick up my car. The driver had no cards or paperwork for me. I only let him tow it because the CHP officer vouched for him. I was told the car would be taken to the body shop of my choice but it has not. They asked for a release to move the car, which I gave them and they still didn't tow my car to the body shop. It's been five days now and I don't know where my car is, they don't seem to know where it is and they don't seem to know when they're going to get it to the body shop. I wish I could give it zero stars. One day, a truck from this company was trying to tow away a car from my neighbor and asked me if he could use my drive way since it is a very long truck. I agreed. However the truck broke my retaining wall when it struggled to change directions. The driver left me a phone number of the company. In the following three days, I tried to call the company every day. The answering service always told me they will pass the message to the manager to call me back. However I never got the call back. I am still trying to reach the manager till today. Last Sunday 5/27/19 , I was cut off and wrecked my custom F150. My bill came out 225 hour for total of 3 hours. Upon delivery of my vehicle, I payed cash and one of $100 didn't look real so driver refused to accept it but didn't use a pen or look at the security features of the bill. So since I was short $20 they had to take it back to the yard. I was on personal leave from USMC for my sick father. The bill was checked by a bank verified it was real. My truck is still there at 1400.00 now on a tow for wrecked vehicle. The owner doesn't want to hear nothing about it or give me any slack. This is clearly an intent to keep the vehicle and resell it for a lot more than it is. None of the less I cannot get my vehicle because I am back at my station but I need to make another appointment to leave which is totally absurd and shows that this owner has no regard for the people who serve his country and protect his borders while he gets rich off of people like us which is sad. The only reason I'm giving these crooks 1 star is because there is no 0 star or negative star option. I got my car towed from a private lot and the first problem was that there was no current number to reach the towing company. Luckily the business was still open and they gave me the information on how to contact Extreme Towing. The folks on the phone were pleasant enough if not terribly bright and quoted me the costs for picking my car up that night or the following morning. Since it was about $30 cheaper I told them I was going to pick my car up the next morning. Early the next morning I get a call from a Daniel (I'm assuming Daniel Rodriguez, since his name was on a certificate in their office) telling me I was going to have to pay an additional $137 for a "gate fee" and an additional day of storage. I told Dan that his employees quoted me lower pricing and he said "Well, we'll have a conversation when you get here." Classy. My fiance drove me to their Auzerais location to pick up my car, and right away, Willy Alves the "general manager" starts to have a huge attitude as though I've insulted him somehow. He's condescending, takes calls WHILE HE'S TALKING TO ME, and even starts talking to another customer literally in the middle of a sentence while speaking to me. Then he tries to charge me an additional $82 (not $137 note, just $82) for a gate fee because his driver came out the night before and sat there until midnight because, according to Willy, " you kept calling him and harassing him over half a dozen times". I explained to Mr. Alves that I did not call his "gate" guy and that he should check his phone logs because I explicitly said that I would be picking up my car the next day since it was cheaper. He checked his phone logs and saw that I was right. The whole time Mr. Alves was hostile, taciturn, and rude. It took all my effort not to be rude and disrespectful back to him. However, what made me complain on the Better Business Bureau website and to post this review on Yelp! is because I called back Extreme Towing today to see if they had a "lost and found" section because I could not find my sunglasses in my car ($300 ReVo glasses). I had the great misfortune to once again speak with Mr. Willard Alves and this time he told me to "take me to small claims court" and "this conversation is over". Well, you know what, Mr. Alves and Mr. Rodriguez, now the good people at Yelp! know about your extortionate business practices and the Better Business Bureau has my complaint against you. I am also working with the business that uses you as their vendor to look for someone else who is less rude, condescending, and not a crook. As I said in my complaint to the BBB, I expect an apology to me and my fiance for your unacceptable behavior and either my pair of sunglasses back or the $300 it will cost to replace them. read more

So who would of thought that my first review ever on Yelp would be a negative one? If I could seriously leave Extreme Towing negative stars I would. My insurance scheduled a tow at 8:30am and they said they would be there between 9:30am to 10am. I wait around till 10:30. No show. Call dispatch. She tells me he's on his way and should be there in 30mins. I say ok cause it is the weekend. Wait till 11:30am. Still no show. Call dispatch again. She tells me he's still caught up with another tow and tells me to wait another hour. I tell her I guess I have no choice since I've already waited this long. I wait till 1pm and the guy still doesn't show up! I call dispatch again and she tells me he forgot about me and is in Tracy now. WOW! Really? After 4.5 hrs of waiting and you forgot about me? What kind of company reschedules a tow 2 times and then forgets about the customer? After dropping a hint that I would call my insurance, since they were the ones that scheduled the tow, she placed me on hold for 10 mins to try to fix the problem but couldn't. She just told me, "sorry. Guess you got to call your insurance." After over 4.5 hrs of waiting, they never even showed up. How great is that? :( read more

EXTREME TOWING In terms of storage space, this place should get 5 stars. It's a giant warehouse and even has a rottweiler guard dog, so you know this place is safe. Unlike other towing places, this place was clean, so the cars are in safe place. Why it gets a 1 star is obviously because my car got towed!!! I'm just being bitter about it right now. The place has so many cars in "storage", they range from Camrys to Fords to limousines! This place reminds me of "Gone In 60 Seconds" because of the sheer number of cars inside! Only giving one star because none is not an option! Extreme Towing Santa Cruz office was chosen by BMW Roadside Assist to tow my car to the Steven's Creek dealership. The driver was supposed to call the night before, as well as 15-20 minutes before arriving at the scheduled 7:30 pickup time. Well, 8:00 rolled around and I did not hear anything so I left my car in the driveway to be towed, but not before taking photos with my phone of all sides of the car. I AM GLAD I DID. Rather than the driver using the towing accessory that safely allows the vehicle to be pulled up on the tow truck, the driver attached a j-hook to the aluminum suspension to winch up the car... which not only damaged the suspension, but also caused significant body damage from the winch cable. I called to file a claim and have gotten the complete runaround. I have been ignored, they will not return my call, nor has the "manager" that was promised to call to investigate the claim ever called. An absolute nightmare. Stay away. read more

How strange that this place closes at 5pm and my car got towed from in front of my friends apartment in downtown San Jose at 9:30pm, resulting in an extra $85 "gate opening fee" to get my car out after hours. The first call to Exteme Towing told me how much it was going to cost me to get my car and that I needed to go to the towing yard and wait for someone to come open the gate. I did that. No one was there and I had been waiting in a fairly dangerous area that was not well-lit, after 10pm. I called again. They told me I was at the WRONG towing yard and my car was in MILPITAS. Went to Milpitas. Finally the guy showed up and of course I didn't have enough cash on me and he said he wasn't sure if my credit card would work because it was after hours. Apparently he swiped my card THREE times and my card wasn't working. I had to find an ATM in the middle of nowhere in Milpitas and withdraw $$$ go back to the yard and hope the guy was still there and pay him in cash. Which I did. Then I finally got my car back. Next morning I see that my card was CHARGED THREE TIMES. I'm currently in the middle of trying to figure out how I'll get the money back and will probably have to get a new card. Extreme towing Aptos is the worst ever. I know for certain that they did intentional damage to my nephew's truck out of spite. I won't bother with the details. The type of damage incurred can only be done with a specialized tool that you won't find out on the streets, only in certain shops with an available air compressor. I had called in for a flatbed truck to tow my truck to the mechanic. A standard, non flatbed arrived. I asked if he can put the dollies on since it wasn't a flatbed and he refused. He said he wasn't told that a flatbed was requested and that if I didn't use him I'd be thrown back into the queue, already waiting almost 2 hours I called my mechanic to ask his thoughts on the tow and he said to wait for the flatbed. The review is for Extreme Towing in Santa Cruz. I'm not sure about about the negative reviews because I had a great experience! My car just stopped starting, so I called my insurance company to see if I was able to receive roadside assistance to tow my car to my mechanics house. Within 15 minutes of my call, Jamie was at my house to tow my car. He was very professional, nice and eager to help. He had to pull my car out of my driveway which was on a hill pointing down. It took him about 10 minutes. Then he dropped my car and myself off at the location I had asked to be towed to. All in all it probably took less than an hour from initial call to drop off. Worthy of mentioning... you know how some towing companies have nasty cars and the employees look nasty too? Not the case here. Jamie's truck looked brand new, and Jamie was dressed quite nicely to be towing my car. It was just such a great experience!
