Visiting family in Scotts Valley, my wife called for a jump start. We have a 2021 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid and the car would not "turn on". I am not with her, I would usually try to handle something like this. She was ready to leave and drive 450 miles to get back home. She called Ladd's Towing in Felton in the morning before 10 a.m. and they said they could get a technician out before Noon. Noon comes and they tell here the technician has been delayed and they cannot get anyone there before 6p.m. AND, by the way, the $200 you paid us up front for the service call is NON-REFUNDABLE. That not been mentioned before. Now, she is stuck for an extra day because she isn't going to drive 450 miles after 6p.m. and we don't want to forfeit the $200 they've already charged us. 6p.m. comes, no technician or tow truck. Wife calls them again - no technician available until tomorrow morning. Feeling absolutely stuck, she tells Ladd's Towing okay, but they have to have someone there by 9a.m. Now, we make the decision to enroll with AAA for roadside assistance. Should have done it sooner, for sure. Process takes 15 minutes and we now have AAA membership. Next morning, no call from Ladd's Towing so we assume she'll have help by 09:00. No call, no technician, she calls Ladd's Towing again and is told they don't have anyone available, it will be later today. NO, THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE. Cancel our call, we will dispute the $200;charge with our credit card company. Do NOT call Ladd's Towing if you have anything other than a regular car (hybrid, plug-in hybrid or BEV)!!! TERRIBLE customer service with no satisfaction to be had. read more

Sara showed up with a friendly and warm smile. she quickly and effectively got the job done with an infectiously joyous attitude and sparking fun conversation. Ladd's is the best! I was low on fuel after leaving Scotts Valley headed north, and ended up stuck around Glenwood Cut-off without enough fuel to make it to a gas station. I called Scott's Valley Towing Service because they were local, but they were going to charge me $472.50 to bring me 2 gallons of gas when I'm only about 3 miles away! And, it was a 45 minute wait! So I called Ladd's right after, and I'm glad I did. They were extremely helpful and considerate of my situation. They arranged to send their driver Sarah out in 20 minutes and charged $140 for the effort. Sarah was fantastic and even followed me back into town to make sure I was good. An expensive lesson to learn, but at least now I know I can rely on Ladd's to get me out of a jam. read more

Amazing customer service. I stay at a hotel in Scotts Valley for work, and have been there for several months. I received a call saying that they wanted to tow my vehicle for blocking a door that has no parking restrictions. So I called Ladd's and explained my situation. After talking to Andy for about 5 minutes, he suggested that they move the truck for me. They not only moved the truck but, they also texted a picture of the location they moved it to. I also received a phone call asking if there was anything other could do for me. More companies need to take a page out of Ladd's playbook. The staff is 5 star service. So my Prius was dying, dash lights doing crazy things, would not start, just absolutely nuts. Arranged to have it serviced by the dealer, arranged for a rental and called for a tow. Sara shows up. Takes one look. "Oh, a Prius!" Pops the hood, opens the fuse box and puts a jumper on it. And brings it back from the dead. "You're good, get the battery replaced. I had the opportunity to meet an operator and great guy by the name of Mark, we were staying in Brian Head (high attitude and hard to find home) with snow/ice/wind, every reason possible for a no show. I absolutely can not stress how life saving this service was. After a beautiful weekend wedding in brookdale for my sisters wedding. Things took a turn for the worst when I went to leave Sunday morning and couldn't find my keys. They were nowhere to be found. Jonathan (my tow driver) came out and opened up my car so I could at least get my belongings in the car. He was very sympathetic and kind and let me know to call if we needed anything else. After not being able to get help that day from any locksmiths or dealerships. Ladd's towing sent Jonathan back out the next day and got my car on the tow truck even though it was in a tough spot and the steering wheel was locked. Jonathan got us over to the Santa Cruz dealership to get help and helped get the car in the dealership exactly where it needed to be. The compassion and excellent customer service I experienced was monumentally amazing and they even reached out the following day to make sure I was ok. I could not recommend this company enough. They damaged my new car when towing it to the dealer, they did not tell me when the damage was done. When I picked up the car from the dealer I saw the damage to my new car. I contacted the owner of Ladds, the owner said he knew of the accident but did not call me. He said the guy that towed the car did the damage but no one had the decency to call me. At first the owner said he would fix the damage but did not so I had to go through my insurance. I needed my car towed last night and was lucky enough to have AAA send a great guy out. His name was Michael and he arrived with a flatbed truck. My BMW would not go into neutral so he could not pull it onto the flatbed. He didn't give up. He called his boss, Marshall and they discussed it. Marshall had already stopped working for the day and was about twenty minutes away. He never hesitated. He showed up with a different truck that allowed him to slip something under the car and tow it away without worrying about the neutral part. They delivered my car to the dealership late last night and it was diagnosed today. It's not good news, but I really appreciate their hard work in the cold last night. My driver was great - courteous and helpful. I would be giving glowing review except for this one thing: as I rode with him he suddenly looked distressed and told me my window had shattered. My latch did not work and I told him so. He said they usually ask before taking off if any windows don't work. I called and spoke with the owner, who maintained they felt no liability since they did not cause the window to shatter, in that the tow was conducted as per protocol. My position: if I'd been asked about derfective windows, I would have supplied the info, the driver would tape it shut, and it would be intact today. Just had a tire blow out on Mount Herman road and managed to limp into the parking lot at McDonalds. We called AAA for help, and were given a 45 minute wait time. As I was getting off the phone, we were heading into McDonalds to get a quick bite since we weren't going to make our original dinner plans. Mike, our tow truck driver, showed up before the food was ready, and had us fully repaired and on our way before we could finish our burgers. My battery died and then my car locked up, I was stuck in park, in the middle of a busy parking lot on a friday night. AAA send me Gus from Ladds. Gus was great. Compared to other terrifying towing experiences I've had, Gus was the opposite of who I expected to show up. He was punctual, efficient, skilled, young and more helpful than I could've asked for. I live on a skinny, pot hole ridden, nightmare of an alley/road, He was able to back his tow truck in and lower my car in my drive way without a problem. My only critique I would give is that Ladds doesn't offer a battery service. I've been told other AAA towing companies offer this. This would've been icing on the cake. One recent cold and wet morning, I put my beloved TDI in a ditch on 9, just above the hairpin turn. Ladd's said it would be about 30 minutes and darn if the truck didn't show up about 25 minutes later, slightly ahead of the estimate. That's good time from Felton with a tow truck during commute time. It's always good to observe someone operate with skill and JJ surely is skilled. He expertly extricated my car from the ditch, a foot at a time with great care not to exacerbate the damage. Shortly we were on our way. I asked him to drop me off at Johnnie's and that was that. You know you effd up right.? Hope you know that, so the story begins when my friends car gets towed, and actually before you begin to talk sh** (LADDS) I was told to write this review for my friend as i was their when it all went down. So, my friends car gets towed by LADDS i dont remember that big dckheads name but what i do rememeber is that the CHP had called them, had it towed, and when going down to Ladd's to retrieve items out of the vehicle you can obviously tell the vehicle was ransacked. That's funny because when my friend and I left the vehicle it was fine, had some fresh snacks I even felt comfortable leaving my $200 cash. After calling the CHP they had told us they just had it towed, and that they didnt conduct any search of anykind. So what does that mean ? Means that the only MFckr who could have took the cash and ate the snacks was most likely the dckhead who towed it. So to conclude the story hope you dont get your car towed by these crooked ass people. And make sure you dont leave any cash & goods in it because it will disappear, and they will also leave the evidence (wrappers with fresh finger prints which i still have in large plastic zip lock bag) in the car on the floor or where ever. read more

Truck wouldn't start after stopping at Wild Roots Market in Boulder Creek. Called road service, got a text from road service advising eta for tow truck is less than 55 minute. Jason from Ladds Towing called and advised he was on his way. Jason arrived within 35 minutes of the initial call. Let me say this has got to be one of the most best tow experiences I have ever had. Jason pulled my truck up on the flatbed and secured that sucker. My truck wasn't going anywhere except home. Great conversation, great driver and got to take the scenic route through the backroads. Where do I begin, I would give them 0 Stars if I could. The lack of customer service is out of control. They need some customer service training. We are stuck at a gas station on Father's Day because our car broke down. We called Ladds Towing. The dispatcher told us the wait time was 30-60 min. It's 90' degrees outside so we are very hot. We waited 30 to 60 mins. No tow truck! We call and the dispatcher let's us know that it will be another 30 to 60 mins then she proceeds to tell us it will take 60 to 90 mins. Our problem is she didn't even call us to let us know what was going to be even longer we watched two tow trucks from Ladd's towing drive by twice. In all we waited 3 hour and ended up call another company that showed up in 15 mins. I don't recommend Ladds towing. read more

Last night had a roadside emergency which I had call the tow truck company in a dark mountain road. Called the phone number and it rang and rang.. Called back multiple times and finally someone answered. The person on the phone told me that she was not qualified to take the call and to call back in 20 minutes or so. Now I have used them before and even though they are a bit on the pricey side, they do good work, but I have never had a business of this nature not send their calls to a call center or simply not pick up the phone. read more
