I had some eye issues as a kid, so I am always very cautious in choosing an eye doctor. Happily, I have found Dr. Rabbani, who was very thorough as well as very patient with my fear about getting my eyes dilated. Service by staff was good as well. My only reason this didn't get 5 is that their prices on glasses are a little steep; there were only a handful of frames in the price range of what my insurance company covered. They had a lot of beautiful frames, though, that could I have afforded them I would have gotten in a second. Highly recommended. read more

Another 5 star review for Eye Candy! Just picked up my second pair of glasses from them and couldn't be happier. Dr. Rabbani is an amazing optometrist, I spent more time with him in one appointment that I have with any other doctor, he is very thorough with every test he does. The front desk staff is amazing, recently hired optician David is a top notch guy who, like the Dr. himself, wants you to have the best glasses and experience. Can't forget Karina (I know I spelled your name wrong!), also at the front desk who has infinite patience with each person to help them select frames. This is a cute little boutique-y place with a nice selection of frames, some very hip. I needed an eye exam since I had not had one in a couple of years. I used Yelp to find an optometrist and Eye Candy had a high ratings and is near my house. The reviews were spot on. I had a 90 minute evaluation that was the most thorough in my entire life. I had been using Lenscrafters before but was wary of getting the optometrist du jour and was looking for someone for the long haul. This is the place. The quality of the medical care is off the charts and should get more than five stars. Dr. Rabanni is the best of the best. I received a great deal of personal attention to pick out suitable frames and while they were more expensive then Lenscrafters, the quality and styles were much better too. You get what you paid for. I also like that all my insurance was checked out before hand too and there was no paperwork for me to do to have VSP cover the maximum amount. I knew it was time to find a new optometrist when the hubby had to remove his glasses and hold everything one inch in front of his face just to read the large print. He had gone to the neighborhood optometrist (I'm a big believer in using neighborhood businesses whenever possible) and got a so-so exam. He had new glasses made after that, but never felt like he was seeing any better than before. So we searched Yelp and found Dr. Rabanni at Eye Candy Optometry. Dr. Rabanni gave the most thorough eye exam my hubby has ever had, and converted him from glasses to contacts, making his life so much clearer. Never mind that this glasses boutique is so freaking adorable. Forget the fact that they had FRESH BAKED COOKIES (baked in the kitchen of this converted home now office) and lemonade in the waiting area. Go there for the excellent exam and wonderful service! Hubby happily walked out with a brand new prescription for contact lenses that we can purchase at Costco, and he will definitely be returning yearly for his annual eye exam. Pros: Fantastic exam performed by a patient and thorough doctor. Super nice and helpful staff. Cookies and lemonade! Cons: smallish selection of cool but expensive frames. read more

While Dr. Rabanni is a very pleasant and nice person, I'd say that he's a businessman rather than an optometrist. A doctor should do what's best for you, and THEN charge you based on what's best for you. This office's approach is get the most money out of you, by providing medical care that you may need or not really, or kinda, or sorta. It's an overpriced glasses shop that just happens to have an Optometrist on premises - if you will. And Optometrist's first concern is maximum profit, not your eyes I think this is a wrong and unethical approach. Kind of like a car mechanic that recommends this and that and the other, hoping to score as high as possible. He's a competent mechanic and will do the job right, but he just sold you a bunch of useless services, that you did not need. While with a car mechanic people are more in check to say "no" to certain up-sells, one tends to trust their doctor. It's only post factum that I realized that I was taken for a ride. I got my eye issues taken care of, but I was upsold on a few useless things too. As I said above, the Doctor is a very pleasant and nice man. He delegates the dirty work to a front desk person, that helps you with choosing your sunglasses and charges you, and never gets involved himself. My wife and I would have continued to come to this office despite the above, just more aware of what to expect. But two weeks before my contact lens prescription expired I called in to pick up 6 months supply of contacts and was told by the front desk girl in a nasty and unprofessional way that I MUST to show up for an eye exam if I want my 6 months supply. To my objection she, in an irritating way, told me that "the law forbids us selling 6 months supply 2 weeks prior to prescription expiration". This front desk person thinks everyone is an idiot. Before calling I almost checked out my car at 1-800 contacts that had the same prescription on file, and was perfectly willing to ship me my 6 months supply of contact lenses, law be damned. So I hang up and clicked submit order. She girl's nasty car salesman cost Dr. Rabbani two patients BOTTOM LINE: if you're looking for a good doctor that has your medical needs as his #1, #2, #3 priority and then charges you based on those needs than look elsewhere for your eye doctor needs. read more

I really enjoy going to the eye doctor here. Dr. Rabbani and the staff are really friendly. The office is an old house that feels very warm and comfortable, as opposed to a sterile office with waiting room. They've also got movies to watch, so schedule your apointments on Friday afternoon and hang out. They're realy eyeglass enthusiasts too, so you're going to see a lot of great frames in a boutique setting. Even if you're not looking for stylish Melrose Ave. type frames, the doctor and the office are great. read more

Dr. Rabanni is the most comprehensive eye doctor I've ever been to. After switching to contacts with a previous, I suffered from many allergic reactions and he was open to discussing possible tweaks to my lifestyle to reduce or completely rid of my reactions via diet, my environment (pets, dust), and the list goes on. He was sensitive to my needs. I didn't feel pressured to purchase frames in-store. The staff is extremely friendly and broke down the math with the insurance I had so I knew my options. The waiting area is super chic and there's usually iced tea, water, or even fresh-squeezed lemonade! And cookies, too! Ha- It doesn't get any better! read more

I have been a customer for just over 2 years now and have yet to have anything less than an excellent experience. UPDATE: 6 years later and I'm still a loyal Eye Candy patient. I highly recommend! Dr. Rabbani provides a thorough and thoughtful level of care that far exceeds anything I have experienced in the past. I had resigned myself to not being able to wear contacts anymore due to discomfort and headaches, but Dr. Rabbani worked with me for over a month, letting me try anything and everything he could get his hands on until we finally found something that worked. He is also just a nice guy, plain and simple. His staff is knowledgable, helpful and friendly. They know my insurance better than I do, and help me understand how to get the most out of my coverage. Their knowledge about their selection of frames and lenses is also impressive, always able to help me find what I'm looking for even if they don't have it on display. Their selection is cool and trendy. However, in this area I think they can still grow. The selection is cool and trendy, but not extensive. It would be nice to see a few more affordable options, as well as another designer or two. I have been a patient of Dr. Rabbani's since the 90's when he was in Toluca Lake. He is extremely thorough and patient when answering my many questions. I'm always curious and somewhat fascinated by the technology in his office. He explains what each instrument does, and it's very cool to be able to see behind your eyeballs. Dr. Rabbani is a true professional who is extremely good at what he does. After my latest eye exam July 2022, he informed me my sight is stable. So he didn't recommend new reading glasses which I appreciate. I'm quite sure some optometrist want you to purchase new glasses every year for the additional money. I also appreciate Karina and her upbeat attitude as well. She repaired a loose lens in an older pair of my glasses before I even asked. In closing I highly recommend the good Doctor. My dentist informed me that Dr. Rabbani repaired his detached retina's due to his jogging, and Dr. Rabbani did an excellent job performing the surgery. We are also basketball fans as well, so that's always a fun part of the conversation. I thank Dr. Rabbani and his staff, and really appreciate them helping to maintain my sight. read more

I am so not a complainer, but do I have the tale to tell about my experience with Eye Candy. And it's not a good one, I regret to report. I was referred by a friend. And while Dr. Rabbani was certainly kind and attentive, the results were so incredibly subpar, especially at these prices, I felt compelled to Yelp about it. I came in for my eye exam in January, picked out a cute pair of frames and put a deposit down on a second pair. I wear progressive lens, I'm a writer and in production so my schedule is tight and was in the process of writing a 500 page reference material that provoked me to come in in the first place. It took 3 weeks together my glasses, which seemed a bit long, but as long as my vision improved--I was okay with that. However, as soon as I got them I knew something wasn't quite right. The distance improved, but the reading aspect seemed non-existent. I was told to give it a week to get used to them. I've worn progressives for almost 10 years and I've never required an adjustment period as others have needed. The following morning I sat down at my computer and squinted and struggled for an hour before calling. Again, I was told give it a week. I did and had to really work to get away for another hour or so to come in. Dr. Rabbani increased my Rx, both distance and near. I was without glasses again for another two weeks. It ended up being three. Same reading issue. I was told to give it another week. I did as instructed but I was losing patience. While the distance improved, the reading was not working. Dr Rabbani asked me to come in on a Saturday afternoon, that was when his lab rep was coming in. Suffice it to say, glasses had to go back in and I was told two more weeks... Again. I know, I know. My friends were telling me I was nuts. But I trusted the doctor, again he was a very nice guy and I wanted to give him the opportunity to get it right. I mean, we had to be close by now, right?! I got a call three weeks later... The lab made another mistake, it would take a couple more weeks. So, THREE more weeks went by... By now it was mid-May. When they came in I literally cried. i'm not easily moved to tears, but I wrote an Encyclopedia and had it published in the amount of time it took to get my glasses. It was beyond ridiculous. And I really didn't appreciate the chatty front desk "assistant" mentioning I had a balance due every time I walked in on my second pair. I hadn't even gotten my first pair. Now, at this point I just wanted to be done with the whole experience, but to be perfectly honest, my glasses STILL weren't quite right. There's a very, very narrow margin with which I am able to see clearly through the lower portion of my frames. Still, that said it's a vast improvement over no ability to see my computer or read. Two weeks after giving up I received a call from Eye Candy stating the lab felt so bad "they" screwed up they would be covering the balance on my second frames. Okay, that was cool. However, I wasn't sold on the frames I set aside-- and, not wanting to continue to be a problem-- my glasses still aren't all there yet... I only returned to get my second pair last week, a month and half later thinking I'd tackle the issue then. I found another frame style I felt suited me better and was at once told I'd have to pay another $250 if I wanted those frames. In other words, the new frames I found ran $1100!! I had nearly $400 (half the other pair) down as a deposit. I asked to have Dr Rabbani call me the following day to discuss it. I told the assistant my current glasses are only marginally effective and now after months of patience I'm supposed to pay another $250? I thought it was completely unacceptable. The following day I waited all day to hear from the doctor. Finally I called them at 5:30p. He called me back at 7p on a Friday night. When I finally caught up with Dr. Rabbani he explained to me my current glasses weren't quite right b/c my eyes are where my eyes are and these lens are larger than my last ones and around and around. It didn't make any sense to me. The fact is with all the technology we have today, these very nice people place your new, over-priced glasses on your nose, eyeball you and use a Sharpie to mark where your pupils belong. I love nice looking glasses as much as the best of them--but I value my vision even more. Anyway, after some tap dancing around, Dr. Rabbani told me, "You should get what you want.". My thoughts exactly. I told him, "Great. I'd like the blue-green frames and let the lab pick up the balance.". "Oh, no... They're only picking up the balance on the lenses. The frames are extra." he told me. Well, that's not was I was told. In conclusion, I'm getting what I wanted. I'm getting my deposit back and heading to a new optometrist. Bad business. I'm beyond disappointed with Eye Candy. Oh, but I should mention Dr. Rabbani said he would take $70 off the $1100 frames! You've been forewarned. read more

Cursed with far sightedness and on a mission to find the right pair of glasses that don't scream costco, i came across this little gem in the valley. The glasses are higher end and really cool without falling into LAEYEWORKS craziness.For those of us who really love glasses you won't find on anyone else's face this store is excellent. Also this is a really great shop with cool ambiance, it really does look like a candy store. The receptionist is great and the entire store is filled with candy so the eye candy appellation is not an exageration. They accepted my VSP insurance. read more

Nice guy, but expensive. $50 to train you to put in your contact lenses, which I could have done for free on YouTube. After my eye exam I was told to come back another time to get the dilation done, but I can't stomach spending anymore money there. Also, was supposed to go in for a follow up for the trial contact lenses, but they wouldn't give me another Saturday appointment though they wouldn't explain why. The girl just said I couldn't come back on a Saturday again. The Saturday hours were largely what drew me there in the first place. I paid $142 on top of what insurance covered for a partial eye exam, contact lens training, and five days' worth of trial contacts. I should have asked for a breakdown of all the charges before I agreed to anything, I just didn't expect it to cost so much. I feel like an idiot. I've decided to just keep my old glasses and try a new optometrist next year. read more

I really have enjoyed and appreciated Dr. Rabbani, but am making the decision to no longer go to Eye Candy. The staff has cancelled appointments on me twice, for no apparent reason. They rescheduled me to a time that I cannot make. They do this at the last minute. I find this utterly disrespectful. I also feel that they are expensive, and use every opportunity to sell me eye wear, In the past, before I knew I could just ask for the prescription, and buy my glasses elsewhere, I would be suckered into this. I was even told I was getting a deal, based on my insurance. I have come to feel that EYE CANDY are more about making a buck than about looking after and providing service to their clients. And this makes me sad, because Dr. Rabbani is wonderful. I just can't put up with feeling like a second class person who needs to roll with their scheduling punches, and at the last minute. read more

My boyfriend and I were on vacation to California and of course my boyfriend had torn one of his contacts during our short stay here. I called the closest eyewear shop and eyecandy popped up! I explained to them my situation and they called my boyfriends optometrist twice and followed up to get a new prescription for two trial pairs of acuvue oasys so that my boyfriend could have them for free!! Gonna try to keep this short and sweet. This office has a great facade and a shady practice. -They said I needed procedures that I found out later I didn't need (but they already charged my card and there's no way I'm getting that money back). -They made excuses for me to have to come in several times (and charged a lot for every visit). -They gave me a pharmacy prescription (an expensive one of course) for some seemingly made up problem that I didn't have. By that point I'd caught on. He told me that the condition of my eyes had improved greatly from the prescription, then was 'shocked' when I told him I'd never even picked it up cuz it was too expensive. -They gave me prescriptions that made my eyesight WORSE than before. -He claimed I had an astigmatism, even though no optometrist before OR AFTER has ever found that. -And as a cherry on top, THEY MISLABELED MY CONTACT LENSES. Labeled right as left and left as right. WHO DOES THAT??! If you have money to burn, and you want to feel chic, by all means, light your bank account on fire here. But if you don't, do not step foot in eye candy optometry. read more

Dr. Rabbani and his staff are the absolute best in the business. I've always felt like my eye exams were rushed and left me with a lot of questions, not the case at this doctor's office. I was always told that because my left eye is lazy, it couldn't be corrected with lenses. Not only did Dr. Rabbani correct it but the lenses he prescribed have brought me to almost 20/20 vision in both eyes. I could talk until morning about what a wonderful experience I had and what a stand up gentleman he is. Dr. Rabanni is just well, amazing. I have been told by many specialist that with how bad my astigmatism is there is no way to do better than 20/40 for me with contacts. Instead of this being a problem he took it as a challenge and now, I'm seeing at 20/25 thanks to Dr. Rabanni. It's nice to have the world so clear. Such a nice boutique/Optometry...and yes the Dr is cute and super nice! ha It's like a house converted to a boutique. The decor is absolutely adorable and homey. The only draw back here are the prices for glasses. Don't get me wrong the selection is great and so are the styles but its fufu glasses with fufu prices even after insurance covered part of the cost. So glad I found this place! Dr. Rabanni is funny, easy to talk to, and takes care to see that you're comfortable and understand all aspects of your eye exam. I would recommend him without hesitation! I was equally impressed with the office space, and the staff's commitment to the "eye candy" theme. The place is decorated with big vintage glass jars, filled with sweets, and their dark brown and silver business card is a call back to Hershey's chocolate candy wrappers. There's also a lot of really interesting ceramic work in the lobby, which I later found to be the work of the Dr. himself. As an artist, I was wowed! Bonus: I was the first patient of the day and the Dr. brought me hot tea and cookies --what a great welcome for a new patient! I saw a few reviews complaining about how expensive the glasses are here. Frankly, I'm not surprised. The storefront has a very designer boutique feel, and is a far cry from a Lenscrafters. However, this doesn't have to be an issue if you're a smart shopper. Don't agree with the price tag? Buy elsewhere. I ended up ordering most of my contact lenses online because the per box price was almost half of what it would have cost ordering through the office. Problem solved. My only issue, which was the only reason I couldn't give 5 stars, was that the 2 boxes of contacts I did buy through Eye Candy took a long time to be ordered. My card was charged in early-mid Dec., and I finally received my boxes in the first week of January. It seems like they chose to wait on placing the order after moving office spaces and after the holidays as well. Not a huge deal, especially since they gave me a few free pairs to get me by in the meantime, but I would have appreciated a heads up about potential delays at the time I placed the order. Over all, I still thinks it's a great place. The positive experience I had during my visit outweighs the customer service issue, and in the future I'll know I have to be on top of them about any orders placed. read more

I have never received better care or felt more taken care of than at Eye Candy. Hands down, THE BEST place I have ever gone. WHAT BROUGHT ME IN: I went with a friend. I casually mentioned that the glasses I got elsewhere were giving me trouble (lenses popped out), and Eye Candy fixed them for me, free of charge. They even called my insurance to get part of what I paid refunded, as I had been significantly overcharged by the other practice and they did not catch it. I was floored. They did all this for me, even though I was not yet a patient, because they are passionate about what they do. The service is unbeatable. So when I needed new glasses, I went back to Eye Candy. THE EXPERIENCE: The moment I walked in I was greeted with a fresh cookie and lemonade in a champagne glass, a nice touch that immediately made me feel at home and pampered. The pampering continued when a the optician personally guided me through the frames and helped me select THE CUTEST frames--ones I have never seen anywhere else or on anybody else--that suit my face perfectly. I constantly receive compliments and get asked where I found such great frames. :) The optician rocks, and the frames are the real deal...not that Assembled-in-Italy-but-made-in-China stuff they push in other stores. Like a haircut, you wear your glasses every day. To me they are an investment, not just another purchase. I want what I want, and I got it at Eye Candy. You may pay less elsewhere, but as the adage goes, you get what you pay for. Elsewhere, I got bargain frames and they gave me headaches and fell apart. At Eye Candy, I got exactly what I wanted and personal service--a great value. THE DOCTOR: Dr. Rabbani was exceptionally caring and thorough. The exam went smoothly and easy. I love this place! Although I didn't have appointment, I did have an emergency -- my frames busted (from Lens Crafters/not Eye Candy) which Dayana quickly resolved. She was so sweet, and so accommodating. She not only helped me find a comparable frame for my lenses, she even directed me to technician who could fit them in a jiffy. Oh, and she was so sweet enough to help me out with a quick pair of contacts that are a near perfect match to my prescription!
