I contacted Lawrence from a public post for a Lexus CT200h I was interested in. Unfortunately someone already saw it a day before me, but Lawrence still replied to say he will keep in contact if anything falls through. This was during the microchip shortage and used car inflation due to covid, so only some sellers/dealers were responsive and most were giving me the work around to get me to go in person. However, Lawrence kept me periodically updated through texts. I've been searching for the car for about a month. Finally a acquaintance referred me to Japanese car broker that agreed to help me. Around the same time Lawrence contacted me said the person did not get back to him and his reservation would end. I decided to go with Lawrence on a whim because of the previous reviews but also because he was courteous enough to be highly responsive throughout the week and a half. The car trim/package was above what I was looking for so I went in. On the day of the Test drive everything was going perfect. Until the check engine light went on lol. I noticed it went on when we took the car off EV mode and into sport. I know a bit about cars and had previous similar experience so hoped it wasn't anything too big and easily fixable. He pulled the ODB2 codes (btw I brought my Bluetooth ODB2 reader in my pocket, but didn't use it, just saying to inform that's how much a cautious buyer I am). Got code P0420. Which I'm very familiar with and know it can be anything from o2 sensor to the Catalytic(headaches when trying to pass smog tests because a lot of resetting and then miles to drive to refresh the computer). NOTE: Lawrence was just as surprised as I was about the check engine light... in fact I didn't even mention it to him... he actually looked over later while I was driving and asked me in shock "Hold up, is that the check engine light?" Mentally I was bummed out and ready to continue the search. But Lawrence assured me that it was not in his intention then explained even if it did happen I would've been protected by his 90day contract warranty, and he would fully taken care of it. To go above and beyond he replaced the whole cat unit with OEM catalytic and exhaust manifold assembly and test drove the miles to refresh the computer!!!! All within 1 day. He still offered the same price (which was already more than fair considering the inflation situation) with the 90 day warranty. Also said don't hesitate to contact him if I had any concerns In the future in a sincere manner. To top it off, he had the car delivered to my house while waiting for the payment to clear!! So I wouldn't have to waste gas or Uber to pick it up. BOTTOM LINE: If you want to do business you can go to a dealership, but if you want to buy a car from someone with integrity, definitely go here. read more

tl;dr: I really recommend this place. I have always been so wary of dealers, and insisted on buying from a private party until now. I saw a craigslist posting for a Prius, and at the price, I immediately jumped on it. Visit New City Auto for an easy car buying experience with great customer service! In search of THE used Prius, my dad looked all over the internet to find some options for us to test drive. There were many and only through stumbling across a Craigslist posting did we discover this family-owned dealer miles away from OC. Yes, it was all the way in El Monte but the drive was worth it as Lawrence, the guy running the show here, was super helpful! Upon our arrival, Lawrence got the Prius we saw on the listing ready to go as he made sure the car was super clean and even had everything under the hood sprayed so we could see that the car was running smoothly. We took a look around the car, the exterior and interior and since everything looked good, we took a test drive! The 20 minute test drive was through streets, the freeway, and finally through neighborhood so I was able to test all the functions and get a good feel for the car. It was very thorough and during the ride Lawrence went to on to highlight the car's features as well as mention some of it's minor drawbacks. Finally, once we circled back to the dealership, we made our decision and since the car was in great condition and was sold at a very comparable price to other listings on Craiglist (he even worked with us on a better price) we decided to get it! It was a simple and easy process since Lawrence handled all the paper work and after 1.5 hours the car was ready to take home. Some things that were a bummer, partly my fault aha, was that the check in offer (5% off) was not really honored since it was apparently a cash price and I didn't realize that a deal like this could have been on the table until after a price was discussed. Nevertheless, Lawrence still offered some service on the car in the future so that was good enough compromise. Another thing was the car was missing mats, only came with 1 key fob, and the front license plate which we had to all purchase separately, wish that it included it in the beginning but again, I know it's a used car but I would hope a dealership could supply at least the front license plate. Nevertheless, it the deal was still more than satisfactory. Overall, I enjoyed the whole car buying experience as Lawrence was prepared, knowledgeable, and personable. The next day, Lawrence even made sure to check in via text to see how the car was going and followed up to assist us with a contact who could help me get another set of keys at a fair price. Though this is a drive from OC, it's worth it for the customer service and cars.
