We happened on this cute little house driving around and we were so lucky! The pasta is extra delicious, and the people are so friendly. We've had the fontina cheese ravioli so far with home made pesto. I did over cook it a little bit to avoid al debate pasta so one of the raviolli's "popped", but that just added a layer of exterior cheese to everything, making it more delicious. I heard about this place from a coworker after a lengthy discussion of where to buy fresh pasta. Not really finding anything about this place online except for an address, I was very skeptical. However, my want for some fresh pasta won over, and I found myself searching for this place on a raining Saturday morning. Driving down W. Alabama, my first thought was, "Are they open?". The small lot was empty without a car in sight, however they had an open sign. As such, I went in and the lobby was dark and empty. Register and small fridge on one side with seating on the other and a clear view of the kitchen in the back. I was very creep out as there wasn't anyone there. Saw a menu next to the register so decided to check out what they had. There was a list of different pasta items and different flavors, however I wouldn't be able to tell you the price. It wasn't listed. Finally a woman came out, and I asked for a pound of the jalapeno fettuccine hoping it wouldn't put a drastic dent in my wallet. Good to know it was only came out to be about $5. Once I arrived home, I instantly made some to eat with Alfredo sauce and OMG have I missed fresh pasta. The was just a slight hint of jalapeno flavor, but just being fresh pasta had me wanting to cook more. I can clearly say that pound of fettuccine didn't last me long and I will definitely be making another trek to get more. Hope my second time isn't as creepy as the first. My first time here... I got butternut squash ravioli with white wine brown butter sauce and four cheese ravioli with pesto sauce. They were both delicious. The tiramisu ("on the house" but not really because the receipt asks for a tip, so I feel like it's somewhere in between psychological manipulation and "free"?) was not as impressive. What I really wanted to know from all the reviews is how many people a box of ravioli and a pound of sauce can feed, and I could not find that information anywhere. For most of the flavors, a box of ravioli is $9.50, and can feed 3 hungry people. The sauces are not as straightforward. For the pesto sauce, you only need 8 oz. (the small containers, $5.50) to go with a box (1 lb) of ravioli. For the white wine sauce, you need a full 16 oz. ($9.50) to go with 1 lb. of ravioli. To make this easier to remember, they don't even sell the smaller 8 oz. containers for this type of sauce. I inadvertently forgot to add salt to the pasta when cooking it (I didn't notice the instructions on the box--I just went by Fabio's verbal instructions). The pasta still tasted great, and I don't like salty food, anyway. Be prepared to tip... I have yet to find guidelines on how to tip in this kind of situation. read more

Houston (everyone) needs more local specialty stores like this. Having fresh made, not from a box pasta is always a game changer. The management and staff are extremely helpful and friendly. They use fresh eggs and Italian flour to make amazing pastas. To top it off they have outstanding sauces. Oh and the cheesecake is awesome too. On our most recent visit we ran in here 10 minutes before closing time. They were out of fettuccine and Fabio offered to cut more pasta right there on the spot at no extra cost. I came to Fabio's store to buy some souvenirs for my family and friends in North Carolina. Since I love cooking, this store caught my attention. I went to the store and met Fabio in person. He's such a genuine and generous person. I can tell that he's passionate about his food. I bought squid ink pasta and Fabio threw in more stuff for me to try. I was so excited that when I arrived in Raleigh, I bought some fresh ingredients to cook them with my pasta. Fabio's is an easily missed family run shop that sells fresh pasta and sauces. I am definitely no expert chef, yet even a novice such as myself understands the difference fresh pasta can make in cooking, and Fabio's is definitely the best in the area for it. Plus, the owner is ALWAYS willing to offer suggestions (and the occasional free sample) on which sauces go best with which pastas. My go to is always the beef, pork, and Italian sausage ravioli with the Marsala wine mushroom sauce. Super easy to make, and not too pricey, feeding it to your guests will make them think you're an all star chef. The sauce adds both sweetness and texture to the ravioli, which is plump full of meat. I also am dying to try their squid ink pastas, but sadly, they are only available on Mondays. If you're looking to make a good Italian meal, Fabio's is a must. This specialty store is fantastic. You can get 5-star italian pasta for 2 star price by boiling it yourself at home. I've had their tagliatelle and spaghetti - both of which have been stellar. The pasta keeps for a few days after buying (before cooking), but I don't know how you could wait very long to eat it. I've only tried one sauce, and I wasn't blown away by it. I have full confidence that it was just a one-time miss, so I'm looking forward to trying more of their sauces. Finally, the service here is super friendly. My favorite place for fresh "take home" pasta. Fabio tends to his shop and craft daily personally ensuring the best in service and quality. I've done several large orders for family occasions such as Xmas and Easter, even one time bringing our own veal stuffing concoction for the ravioli stuffing and Fabio performed perfectly. Having Fabio has totally taken away the need for us to make our own pastas and raviolis. And yes, it has to be fresh pasta. Hidden Italian gem in our Montrose neighborhood. I had heard great things about Fabio's since before when he had his restaurant on Westheimer but never got to follow up on why it closed or what is this new location on West Alabama is about until this past Valentine's Day. We love fresh handmade pasta and had been eyeing this place for a few years. We finally stopped in this weekend and picked up our first sampling of Fabio's pasta. Not only was Fabio running the shop himself, but he was extremely pleasant and generous with his time. Our only regret now is that we waited a few years to finally stop in and try the pasta. It has been absolutely fantastic. We brought home pappardelle, cheese ravioli and fettuccine. It is all amazing. If you've ever been to Da Marco in Houston, it's basically like bringing similar fresh pasta home and making it for dinner. I had to try this place after I had read that they make fresh pasta wo preservatives. Has to be cooked within 3 days. I had bought egg linguine, lobster ravioli w sauce and osso buco w sauce. I was so wowed when I visited Fabio's a few weeks ago. The location is quaint and cozy. You're greeted with a warm smile and great customer service from the moment you enter the door till the second you leave. I went there to try the spaghetti noodles and to drool over the fridges full of pasta and sauces. In my quest for spaghetti, I ended up scoring a marinara sauce too. Fabio was so great the whole time I was there. He instructed me on how to cook the pasta and promised that I would really enjoy it. When I got home I cooked the pasta according to his instructions and topped them with the marinara sauce. It's really important to follow the instructions because cooking the pasta too long can mess things up. The marinara sauce was the best that I've ever had and the spaghetti noodles were the perfect texture. tl;dr: So delicious, and Fabio is so helpful! Fabio's has introduced me to the magic that is fresh pasta. I'm a little crazy about Italian food. It was my favorite type of cuisine growing up, and I cooked dry pasta several times a week when I lived on my own in college, but this is much different. Upon walking into the store I was greeted by Fabio himself, who took the time to tell me about what pastas and sauced they had available that day. My friend had wanted rosa sauce, which I grabbed first. There were so many options (not just pasta, also ravioli) and I asked Fabio to recommend a pasta to go with it (fettuccine). The pound of pasta and sauce for two was really cheap, especially for how delicious it was! I can't remember the last time I had pasta noodles that were so tender, and the sauce was amazing and went well with the veggies I'd sauteed. Additionally, fresh pasta cooks extremely fast, and Fabio packages all his products with cooking instructions to create perfect al dente pasta. Between two of us, even stuffing ourselves to the brink of food coma, we couldn't finish the pasta. I eyed him enviously as he put the rest in a tupperware for the next day. But it's okay. Best customer service! We called on a whim on Thanksgiving day and Fabio was at store. He took us through the store and showed us all the pasta. He recommended the spaghetti for carbonara and osso busco ravioli. He even threw in the mushroom Marsala sauce! He was extremely passionate about his food and we loved the pasta.
