"Yes, yes, yes, yes... OMG... yes, yes, OMG yes!!!!" That was me in my inside voice as I was passing the aisles of colorful ribbons, flowers, wedding and baby shower favors, baskets, headbands and hairclips (that you can personalize) tons of scrapbook materials, felt, buttons, and pretty much all your sewing and crafting needs. I was like a small, annoying and eager child at a candy store. Fabric Barn has it all and for really good prices. Well, I should rephrase that. They have A LOT of stuff, random stuff, for really good prices. I will also say that they don't really have that much of a fabric selection, but only about 3 small rows. But the fabric they do have is priced below market value. I was extremely impressed with their ribbon and fabric flower selection. A lot of it was $.33/yard. I focused on the flowers because I use them a lot on my crafting projects (bags, fingerless gloves, scarves, etc). I also found a bag of buttons for $2, whereas Joann has a tiny little bag (with about 10 buttons) for $2.49 (however, next week Joann will have a 50% off sale on all their buttons, so I will most likely go and buy some). I ended up buying about 8 yards of beautiful fabric flowers, 20 other little flowers (10/$1), 8 felt quares (4/$1), a bag of about 200 buttons, ribbon, "#1 Teacher" felt letters, and other random sewing supplies that I can't recall right now. I payed about $13 and I felt like I had to rush out for fear that maybe they'd make me come back to pay for something that was unscanned, but nope. I looked at my receipt and it was all there. It felt so awesome! Fabric Barn is going to be my go-to place from now on. This is the crafty person's candy store and you will find what you need (and more) to make awesome and unique creations. The craft selection here just keeps getting better and better. Seriously, this is a real gem - a locally owned craft store that cheap AND well organized? Tons of scrapbook stuff, weird party and gift wrap items, floral stuff, and all sorts of odds and ends like googly eyes, card-making stuff and more. Not enough for ya? They just added an entire yarn section next door! TONS of stuff there. Almost makes me want to really pick up knitting again. I visited Fabric Barn today because I needed...well...fabric. With the word fabric in their name I assumed they would carry a large selection of fabric. Much to my dismay, the fabric department of of Fabric Barn might be the smallest department in the store and what they carry hardly suited my tastes. When did they last fill their fabric order, 1979? This place is seriously ribbons galore. Not only that but more than half the stuff you get from Michael's, you can get here and cheaper. Tons of stuff lying around for weddings, birthdays, arrangements and décor. Lots of craft supplies and baskets and bags and hats and hair bands. Just tons and tons of stuff. Plus their ribbon runs $3 for a 25 yard spool, buy 3 get one free if you get printed designs. They have Velcro spools, trim, tulle, fake flowers, a small selection of fabrics, and just a menagerie of odds and ends. Ladies are always busy helping people so the it's pretty self serve, but what a fantastic place with cheap prices, perfect if you don't want to drive all the way to the small Michael's in Lakewood. Saved my life for my little niece's birthday party and I'll definitely be back! Street parking, takes card and there's a party supply store next door that's humongous too! read more

First of all, this place is great...it has the best prices HANDS DOWN for ribbon and other assorted crafty items, and LOTS of selection. Now for you picky people. This place has been here FOREVER. The store is not slick and modern and brightly lit like you might be used to if you go to Michaels, Hobby Lobby, or those kinds of places. This place is not trying to BE those places, it's just trying to be itself and has been for more years than I can remember. So if you have bad feelings about the area, the store itself, or how modern or well lit it is, please just keep those to yourself. The loyal clientele who come here week after week and are grateful for the lowest prices we've EVER seen on most every type of ribbon are happy. For newcomers, I'd suggest reading ALL the reviews and then judge for yourself. Again, it's not a fancy place. But I guarantee you will love the selection, the great service, and the prices. Back in the 80's they used to have lots more fabric than they do now, this is where I always came to buy cloth to make my fabric "fat cats" that I sold at craft fairs. Back in the day before I became a registered nurse, it was a great way to make some money and stay home with my two babies. Holy cheap town... Go to this store, with NOTHING but time if you have never been here before. I wondered in, looking to construct a very simple article of clothing. I had a picture and instruction sheet in hand, I wondered around the store forever poking at things I definitely didn't need, but liked I finally figured I should ask for help before I pilled my hands with things I didn't come for, and left without the stuff I needed. The Girl was so helpful and happy, she even showed me how to make my product! The materials were so FREAKING cheap, and their selection was HUGE. .Thanks to my bud Mary F. BE WARNED! Now, I love crafty places being a crochet enthusiast myself, but the Fabric Barn is something else....they pissed me off, royally, TODAY! I am getting ready to write a letter to the owner, assuming it probably wont do me any good because of their shit for customer service. They simply have none. With the Fabric Barn being so close to my home, I stopped by for some ribbon shopping for my wedding. I bought about 8 rolls of various ribbons which came to $28.00 roughly, in June (less than 2 months ago). I have never bought merchandise from this place so I inquired to the cashier if I could make a return, knowing I may change my mind before my wedding date. The cashier told me I could, no problem. Well, here we are in August, I decide I have no use for this ribbon and attempt my return on Sunday. The girls working told me they dont make returns, refunds or exchanges and that I would need to talk to a manager on the weekday. So, that I did and called today. I spoke to the "manager"...some young girl with a hispanic accent. I explained my situation and she would make no exception to carry out my return. When I told her the cashier specifically told me I could make a return, she didnt care (no service integrity), she then asked when I purchased the ribbon, I told her less than two months ago, she sounded like she had to take a step back and muttered "oh, 2 months ago?? oooh no we cant make that return". I asked for a good explanation and why it mattered and she couldnt give me one. Anyways, it's places like this that are so money hungry and stingy that I truly hope it drives their business into the ground. THIS IS AMERICA! Having policies that do not warrant returns, exchanges or refunds on perfectly good, unused, nonperishable merchandise is a brutal and outdated concept, especially in this economy. They have lost a customer for life. If they had granted my return, I'd most definitely be back to spend more money. I would rather pay competitive prices at MICHAELS or JOANNES where I know I can speak to a person fluent in the English language, has great customer service and will carry out my purchases and possible returns. I had a great experience here! One reviewer mentioned that there is not a large selection of fabric. I don't know where they were, but this place was big and packed to the brim with fabric. As a straight male who normally likes things like football and beer, I am a little out of my element here, but I was so blown away by this store when I went in this past weekend, I have to yelp about it. The selection of ribbon is pretty impressive. Yes ribbon. Like you are in a grocery store, but the only thing on shelf after shelf, aisle after aisle, is ribbon. They also have a great supply of little favor boxes and cellophane bags at rock bottom prices. In fact, everything here seemed to be priced at wholesale levels. Parking is bad, well at least for me because I really can't parallel park. There is suppose to be a parking lot somewhere behind the store but I can never seem to find it. The main reason I like this store is because it so much cheaper than Jo-Ann's and Michael's. Although they are a bit closer to my home, for some projects I rather go here for the price point. The main storefront is in the center, a party store is to the right if you are entering the main store. To the left of that there is another store that houses more fabric. I have yet to go there though. The price point on all the items are fairly cheap especially the ribbons. Everything is pretty much I bulk here so if you want to make ONE headband you will get about 6 or more in a pack. They have lace, appliqués, favor bags/boxes, gloves, flowers, bridal and baby shower items as well. This past weekend it was fairly cold inside the store and I would assume that in the summer its fairly hot. It can be crowded in the store as well. I went there a bit before 12 and it was super crowded in both the main location. The staff is very helpful in helping you find the things you need. The staff does not greet you but I think that is find since they are so busy. Go early to avoid the crowds and get a good parking spot in front. read more

Do note on Saturday they close at 6 p.m. & Sundays at 4 p.m. This craft supply location is divided into 4 diff locations! What a hidden gem! Had no idea this place existed until a friend from Brea brought me here to grab some decor for her son's first birthday. It's like going to DTLA - same low prices and similar set up without the hassle (specifically, Moskatels on a smaller scale). From baby shower, to birthday, to quincenera, to wedding, to bridal shower, to Halloween, you will find quite a few options without trekking it to DTLA. Stop here first. Some might think it's ghetto outside but who cares? Come for the low prices and convenience; don't expect it to look like a neat and organized craft store (the fabric store is neater). I'm guessing they buy in bulk from smaller distributors. Don't let the name fool you - not much of a fabric selection. Fabric Barn is composed of about 4 shops all next door to another. Browse each one and you will find: - fabric (1 dedicated shop, selection smaller than large chain store) - HUGE selection of inexpensive ribbon and sewing knick-knacks - small selection of craft supplies (brushes, stickers, fasteners, beads, jewels, feathers) - party favors (candy bar scoops, jars, balloons, center piece materials, jeweled / beaded curtains, blank and decorated masks, even eiffle towers of all sizes for Paris-themed parties) - party decor in solid colors and themes (big selection of table cloths, paper lanterns). Anything party! - holiday theme stuff (Valentine's Day, St. Patty's Day, etc) Oh, they also had really cute birthday clothing for little girls (tutu's, embroidered "I'm 1, 2...") at reasonable prices (less than $20). There's a showroom with custom made center pieces made on-site. I'm sure they can make anything for a price or just browse for inspiration. Some things are not super high quality but then again, not everything at an event has to be. Patrons consist of party planners, artsy crafty people, homemakers with little ones, average people shopping for an event. Parking is free and easy (as long as you know how to parallel park on the street) depending on when you go. I've only been on weekdays so I had no problem parking out front. My friend does not recommend parking in the back lot, although I can't remember why. My cousin had a masquerade theme Sweet 16 and I spend $15 on a mask from Alin Party supply, which I hardly wore. Wish I would've known about this place! Huge selection of masks (really cute, too), ranging from $2-$5! Blah! No one wrote that in the reviews when I was researching. Grade: B+ Awesome place for ribbon and favor boxes! Fantastic prices and wide selection on ribbon! Double faced satin, organza, lace, you name it! I also purchased a guest book and pen there. They also have a pretty wide selection of ringbearer pillows and aisle runners for great prices. Fabric Barn is definitely the best place for ribbon and favor boxes. This place has got a lot better within the last couple of years. I live in Long Beach, but routinely go to Downtown LA to buy fabric and notions- and there prices on notions are the same as DTLA, which is fantastic. A little limited, but they are super cheap and their craft supplies are awesome. I wouldn't recommend this a fabric store (but I'm also a costume person, so I'm super picky) but come for cheap crafts and notions. Love this place! read more

Great place for your craft supplies. I usually wander around looking at what's in stock and get my inspiration from what I see. The Fabric Barn has several store fronts so take your time to look at all of them. The west most store has all the super rock bottom bargains. I was there a few weeks ago and they had fleece for a fraction of the price I would pay a Joann's. I purchased felt, hot glue sticks and smooth river stones last year and made beautiful decorative trivet for my table. My husband even got a hat the last time we were there for only $5! If you're planning on making crafty gifts for the holidays it's time to make a trip to Fabric Barn soon. I know I will be there soon getting ideas ans saving $$$. read more

I came looking for wedding lace, but they don't have much. Tons and tons of ribbons, tule, every color and width you would probably want. As for actual fabric, they have quite a bit of fleece and some other stuff, but it's really not a fabric store. Lots of ruffly ribbon and strings of pearls for embellishing. I have been coming here for years. Funny because they hardly have any fabric. Best deal and selection on ribbon, lots of other cute crafty stuff. It can take a little while to check out but still well worth the wait. Parking is not great, but not horrible either. It is in a kinda crappy part of Long Beach. One thing I should add, I used to work gift shows years ago. There was a company selling ribbon wholesale. Same stuff as Fabric Barn. They had a minimum order of like $200 and they were still way more expensive at WHOLESALE. I don't know how they do it but I'm really happy they do. Check out the sale barrels in front. Really nothing in the fabric department. 5 bolts of quilting fabric, a little fleece and 2 bolts of flannel. Larger selection of dressy fabrics but not much. But if you need ribbon.... Yes there is just that much Amazing Stuff that they moved the Fabric next door. Sometimes they will have some fabric in the Main location that everyone knows about but to get to the *~*Fabric*~* just walk out the front door and turn right. it is like the 2nd or 3rd door? Something like that. It is the same building but it just a few steps away. But besides the Fabrics they also have other things that they dont' even have in the more popular known shop. There are Ribbons that they don't even have in the other one. That I just LOVE LOVE! But besides the Fabrics and Ribbons there are many other things as well. Flowers, Adornments, Trinkets, tools of the trade, Party Items and even other things on SALE that you will not find in the Main Well known shop. But here is a Little Tip "ASK" yes just simply ask up front if there is something you are looking for? They just might have it. They do have a HUGE warehouse. And a couple of other storage areas. They have been So Soooooooooo Amazing to go and look for and grab things that might not be exactly what you asked for (if they can) but is pretty close. You do not know how many times I have asked for something and they came back with something even better. :) Yes they are that amazing. One of the Owners that knows me and My Kiddoes will totally tell me when she has something on Sale that I missed that she knows i use all the time. Or even if they just put something on sale and just havent' gotten the total signage up for it yet. They are always saving me money. Even if I would have willingly paid full price for it. But Also the reason I say just ask is that if they don't have it there is a chance they might carry it in the future. Or if they run out of something that they normally carry and their supplier doesn't carry it anymore they will sometimes seek out a new supplier. Seeeeeeee! Amazing! Oh and if you know what you want like 100% know. You can call ahead and they will pull it for ya. There are certain ribbons I buy all the time. I know the color & or Pattern, Size and type of material. I do have 2 little hyper Boys so sometimes I just want to get in and out and they have it saved up front for me. Fabric Barn has been open for years. It has everything you can think of for weddings, parties, crafts, etc. There is still a lot of fabric and supplies to choose from. I think the store itself, needs to reorganize or find a bigger location. It's crampy and stuffy, and you have to be willing to spend time sifting through crates of items or squeezing past people to find what you may be looking for. The hours have always been strange as well. The place closes very early. There's been many times I've driven there and it was closed without warning. There's street parking in the front and some in the back. Be aware during the summer months that it gets really hot inside. Last summer, there was a swarm of bees in one of the aisles and I couldn't shop for what I needed. read more

Selection was amazing here, and prices, as many have said, are not to be beat. We'll definitely be coming back. But watch out for the Faux FB shop on one end of the building. This place is full of ribbon! it's a wonderland of ribbon...cheap ribbon too! I agree with others - not really sure why it's called "fabric" barn considering there's only a small section of the store dedicated to it. It should be called Ribbon Barn! I bought spools (50 ft) of double sided silk ribbon for about $5. I probably ended up buying way more than I needed, but it in the end, it still cost me significantly less than what I would have paid at paper source or michaels. They also have a pretty good assortment of party-related decoration chachkes. I don't really know how to describe it, but it's all miscellaneous stuff like votive holders, gift bags, quincinera type stuff. If you're an elementary school teacher, you'll probably find a lot of stuff here too for your classroom. I'm glad I don't live nearby. I'd probably go broke buying useless ribbon. haha. I initially checked out yelp for nearby stores that sell sewing materials for beginners. So I went to this store on a Monday morning and found out lots of ribbons, scrapbook stuff, etc. They sell some thread but the supply is very limited. They also sell scissors, needles, bobbins, pins, Velcro, tape measure, thimbles, buttons. The store is made up of 3 (or was it 4?) small stores: one selling mostly fabric and ribbons, another selling arts & crafts, some ribbons, some fabrics and wedding souvenir/ceremony thingamajigs, the last one selling party supplies (you can even fill up balloons in the store). The variety of fabric designs leave a lot to be desired but if you're just looking for basic fabric like tulle, canvas... it's available. I find the service to be alright. If you expect to be waited on, this is not the store for you. But if you're like me who prefer to peruse the slew of bric-a-brac, then shop on. read more

The party supply store has many items for decorating, including, lace, beads, bling, balloons, and too many more to mention. The fabric store has a small variety of fabrics that are perfect for custom party backdrop and tablecloths, and some curtain fabrics too. Heard about this joint from my bridesmaids like it was an urban legend. Met up with them for some ribbon hunting and was not disappointed. I don't think I'll be purchasing craft supplies from any more major chains. Also a nice selection of balloons, lace, cartoon fabric swatch patterns (esp. Bob the Builder, Thomas the Train), and party favor accessories. Prices are undeniably fabulous. Lots of scissors, rulers, notepads, and employees to help. There's even an extra 10% off taken between 7 - 11am. Spent under $20 and got enough ribbon for all the wedding programs and napkin knots. My go-to place for ribbon, I'm like a kid in a candy store. There's a great variety of colors, styles, and trimmings. Though it's cheap, I also find the ribbon to be of good quality too! Think $2 for 25 yards- puts the 50% Micahels coupons to shame! A total score for me.
