I've been to Fabric Barn for over two decades, where I can buy inexpensive craft supplies, and I used to be a big fan of this store. However, they now carry more and more ready-made, all-in-a-bag type of kit materials, so much so that a large section of the store looks like a toy store. In my visit to the store last month to buy materials for graduation ribbon-lei making, I found out that they carry less ribbons, no yarns, no needles, and no threads for the purpose. read more

This place is really a "fabric barn". Great for cheap prices and random finds but not a place I would love to frequent. It is almost like walking into a garage that doesn't end. I did happen on some confetti star type stuff. I would imagine this place might be a great find for someone with an imagination but for me it was like going through a junkyard or Mary Poppins' purse. Really cheap stuff like glue gun glue 12 for $1 lots and lots of stuff but also a lot out outdated stuff that looks like its been there for years. I would come here as a first option for any craft stuff then I'd head to michaels for my 2nd option where i have to spend more. read more

Whooooaaaaa, that's a lotta ribbon! In every color, pattern, width, and flavor! Ribbons I hadn't dreamed existed! Trims in lace, covered with beads, with braided rope, in satin, in grosgrain, with ducks, cars, polka dots, or wishing someone a happy quinceanera! Whatever you might dream of making or trimming, you can get embellishments here. Not so many buttons, and certainly a small selection of fabric, but some stuff for bridal or baby showers (bag of small plastic babies? $1.25). Also some stuff for parties, like little bags or balloons (although the craft store next door might have a better selection of the latter). Fabric Barn is actually a very big store, but most of it is closed off for wholesale. Maybe that's where all the fabric is. read more

looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool okay, I want to know what crack the positive reviewers are smoking, because, seriously, you need to share. Yes, the volume of ribbon is impressive. I don't use ribbon much, so idk if the quality is really worth all the amazing joy that's being posted about this place. But I *do* use yarn. That yarn section next door? AHAHAHA(...)HAHAHA Okay, seriously. On whose planet is that a lot of yarn? And it's the cheapest looking... look, my cats barf up higher quality hairballs than the stuff in that store. The offerings in their bins make Red Heart Fiesta look like Noro Kureyon. And clearly no one is buying the yarn, because the nice little old lady at the register had NO IDEA how to ring up my fifty cent stitch picker and my two buck spool of thread. I feel bad for calling her out on it, but it just shows that all the rave reviews that also scream OMG YARN NEXT DOORS don't mean much, since they would be in there, trying to figure out what that random string is and helping the little old lady figure out the register. read more

I like the place with so much stuff and prices are reasonable. However, a certain Rosalva is a turn off. She said she's the manager but does not act like one, no customer service experience at all. If you just ask a simple question, she would answer you back in a loud & high commanding voice like she's mad at you or makes you feel like you're dumb. I'm sorry but there are people out there with no job, who are better than her and deserve that job. Fabric Barn needs a better employee. Rosalva needs to learn or let go. read more

I love fabric barn and house of crafts right next door. Unlike jo-anns this is a more independent-looking store. Not posh, but it'll get the job done and you'll find what you need at the price you'll need. Parking is usually easily found in front of the store on the street. read more

This place is okay. I think some of their prices are way too high for the quality of stuff. It gets 3 stars because it's a convenient store to find most of your needs and you're sure to find good stuff. It's just the pricing that irritates me because I know if I had more time and went to LA to find what I needed I could get it for 50-75% less of the price they have listed. Also some of their stuff looks a little old and worn out. Maybe they should get rid of some of those products and invest in bringing new stuff. Lastly, the staff is hit and miss. Some ladies are super nice and friendly while others are bitchy and love to speak negatively in Spanish. I've witnessed it from afar. I should cut back from shopping here because of that but sometimes I just really need to make a purchase. read more

I love going to the fabric barn I make centerpieces for all occasions and they usually have what I'm looking for .I suggest going there first before you hit downtown l.a. for your craft supplies .They have many different color and sizes for tulle ,ribbon, and Styrofoam it's a lot cheaper than some craft stores. read more

This place is ok if you're in need of a last minute item. The customer service isn't good AT ALL as others have stated. If that's a big deal for you, you may not want to come here! I've been there twice and I received this look of annoyance sorta. I was really happy to visit a craft store so close to my home so I was excited at first and all smiley but then kinda taken aback. I absolutely loved it! They have a large variety of fabrics, fake flowers and alot of party supplies for all occasions. Service was awesome and the owner was very sweet. If your looking for any fabrics for sewing or any arts and crafts items they carry them their! I wish they had a little more art supplies but they carried many items that would be wonderful for gifts, parties and arts and crafts projects. Kind of like a Joanns fabrics meets party city. Prices there are wonderful! My husband was able to purchase Velcro for a great price! I would highly recommend this place! read more

I have been a professional seamstress for almost 10 years, and this store is the best-kept secret in the L.A. area. Don't be fooled, there's not much fabric here. But there are findings. Tons and tons and tons of craft findings at bulk prices for low quantities. If you want to buy in bulk, it's even cheaper. read more

I love this place for cheap felt, knick knack type stuff for baby showers or weddings or craft related. I also like to get the 10/1.00 little bows up front to make hair clips for babies. Plenty of tulle, trim, ribbons and supplies. Not a lot of high quality fabric and the neighborhood is not the best. Overall, if you're a crafter, I would say jam it to Fabric Barn but if you're a sewer or quilter, it's probably worth checking out if you don't have anything else to do. read more

Who cares about customer service when the prices are so cheap! I've been shopping here for 6 or 7 years now. Customer service is hit or miss but i don't care because they have DTLA prices without the traffic nightmare. This is my spot for satin ribbon (25yd- buy 3, get the 4th free). I am a loyal customer here at fabric barn and always come here for craft needs. But as of today, I will no longer be coming here. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. I came in to get some party supplies and balloons for my daughter and when I got the balloons, one of the balloon popped so they gave me a balloon. As soon as I got out to put the balloon in the car, the large #4 balloon pooped so went back to get another. The owner there didn't want to give me the balloon without paying for another one. They've accused me of tearing the balloon and said that the balloon looked like it was reared. It tested because maybe of the cheap material of the balloon. She only offered me to pay $5 instead of the original $10. I felt as a customer that their product or material should be quality and should've gotten it without charge. And I forgot to mention when I came in, they didn't greet me but as soon a white person came in, they've greeted them and ask if they needed help looking for something. Not trying to pull out a race card but that's what I see. read more

I went to this store for tulle and not only did I find the exact color I wanted, but there was every color of the rainbow available. After picking out what I needed I wandered around the store for things that I didn't particularly need(temptation is great here). This store has the most amazing variety of craft goods. Fabric (of many types), ribbon, buttons, sequins and spangles, wood products, yarn, crafts, etc. It's like the Mary Poppins of craft stores, because they seem to have exactly what you need. Don't be put off by the outside of the store. It's an oasis on the inside!! read more

This place has gone down hill. I've been there when you can cut your own ribbon and pay for what you've cut. Now you have to pay for a whole roll of ribbon and the fabric selection is so minimal compared to what they use to carry. The service, well let just say, if your not fluent in Spanish, your pretty much out of luck. Customer service is pretty much out the door and you can't find help when you need one. read more

Fabric Barn is a great place to go if you are trying to decorate for your wedding or quinceniera, but I've been disappointed that they changed the store about a year ago and now all the ribbons and trims they carry seem to cater ONLY to these markets. They used to have a decent selection of nice ribbons like the variegated french style ribbons, and some unusual sheer ribbons. Now everything seems to be cheap satin and grosgrain ribbons, plus holiday themed stuff. I also don't like the new setup with the bins everywhere rather than the old cutting tables with the spools above - it cut their inventory in half at least, which may be why they got rid of the nicer stuff. They also no longer seem to carry the nicer holiday themed fabrics. It's a great store if you're looking for cheap ribbon, but if you want something unusual look online. read more
