They claim to know about Mercedes Benz, but screwed the wiring of my brake lights, signal and back up lights. Charged me for work done without fixing the problem. Had the intake manifold replaced, but returned the car to me with missing and/or damaged parts. I took my car here because I was happy with former owner/management, but I tried anyway knowing it has a new owner. it was a disappointment. I don't believe all their mechanics are certified or at least the one who worked on my car. I would avoid bringing my car here for major work. read more

I didn't get good news unfortunately, but Fairfax Auto explained everything in detail and provided written estimates for the work that would need to be done and were very sympathetic. My family has used Fairfax Auto Repair for our Toyotas for many years (first my father and no me). In our experience they've always been professional, competent, and quick to respond. I've had no complaints with their work and if it's routine they've usually gotten it back to us within a business day or two. And even when it won't be they communicate that to us. They're very customer oriented. When I brought a potential issue to their attention with my front splash plate they checked on it, found it was damaged, and then told me that it was damaged but secure and wouldn't need to be replaced which saved me money on the repair when they could have just replaced it and charged me. They even took my car in for its state inspection while it was getting serviced. Top tier repair shop! I brought them a mystery-Oil in coolant. They did the right pressure tests and quickly ruled out the really big issues that cost $$$$.$$. What a relief! Another great experience at Fairfax Auto! We've been relying on this great local business a very long time. This round was a highlight and Troy, Fernando, and the rest of the team were amazing. My older model German car needed a lot done and they carved it back to the absolute necessities. They provided great advice on a strategy for dealing with our yard wildlife getting a bit too friendly with the car. And, in narrowing down what was draining the battery, they went the last mile. Their first replacement battery didn't hold a charge either, so they picked up the car (we're nearby), put in a second replacement battery, and ran tests on the car for weeks to ensure everything electrical was working properly- at no additional charge. Who does that anymore? They were also very patient in explaining their steps and answering all my questions. They are a dream team! read more

I've taken 2 vehicles there for very unusual problems and the results have been very good. 1st is a car that I replaced the brakes on but the last wheel had a stripped lug that required more tooling than I had on hand. They did it and charged me a fair price and recommended some reasonable other preventive repairs. I know cars pretty well and can sniff out BS repairs and these guys were straight and narrow. The repairs performed were well done and on time/budget. A second vehicle my girlfriend had taken to the factory dealer for an inspection where they indicated she needed $3k+ in repairs which was ludicrous. FAR did a full inspection and identified a small problem that could be fixed for under $100. The dealer was adamant that this could not be fixed for anything less than $2500 in repairs with remanufactured parts and that it was a safety issue. I've been working around cars for 30 years and there was no way this was an issue let alone a safety issue. Needless to say I will be taking the 2nd car there for inspections and repairs with confidence that they will not rip me pr my girlfriend off with unneeded repairs. read more

I brought my car in for oil leak repair. Not only did I have to take my car back in for repairs shortly after, but I'm continuing to have to pick up the pieces from taking my car to this shop. From screws being missing from a camshaft position sensor (which I have picture from it being in place before taking it in and after), to a malfunctioning alternator that I paid for to be replaced because they said the original was bad. read more

I cannot recommend this business highly enough. Fernando, Troy & team were nothing short of incredible. I arrived from out of town with broken brake lights and they were able to fit me in the same day. Thanks to the complimentary 27-point inspection they performed, they also identified another safety issue - I had a busted internal belt on my tire that was likely to cause the tire to blow out on my road trip home if not addressed. All four tires were really due to be replaced. They were not able to fit me in for that service due to being closed on Saturday but referred me to Costco tire center nearby. I have been making a point of trying to be more conscious of the places I am spending money. Family owned and operated is becoming more of a priority to me. Because of this I came and visited Fairfax Auto Repair. I did schedule an appointment, but they were able to fit be in quickly. The appointment was nice because they were able to take my car in right away. I only needed an oil change but I did ask what was included and he said the following: 27 point inspection Adjust all fluids and tire pressures Checking condition of the fluids (moisture content) and checking integrity Reset data service I will say that the Show and tell was great and transparency about what is being done and showing you what you need to do was really helpful. Declining Quality Alert Be careful with this place! This auto repair shop has experienced staff turnover in the past 3 months. As a result, both quality and customer service have declined. I miss AJ and the previous auto service managers as well as receptionists who no longer work here. I initially came in for an oil change and 140,000 mile checkup on my 2006 Honda CR-V, but was upset by a call an hour later. The new service manager, Otto, (who joined 3 months ago in Feb. 2017), called me to explain the oil change was finished. Before talking about the 140,000 mile checkup work, he pushed me to authorize a $64 pressure test related to the radiator fluid. I have NEVER been pushed by Fairfax Auto Repair to authorize a test without an explanation for why it was needed and the pros/cons of having the work done at a later time. What was worse - I asked him for an estimate for the remaining 140,000 mile maintenance work if the pressure test was not done. He said he would get back to me later... that was a huge RED FLAG. I ran from the coffee shop to pickup the car. Luckily, I got there in time. On the billing sheet, the mechanics planned to "upsell" the following services that had nothing to do with the 140,000 mile checkup: (1) tire re-alignment, (2) remove & replace cabin air filter, (3) front and rear differential fluid service. I know that restaurants can rapidly decline in quality when the manager or staff changes, but I had no idea that an auto repair shop could experience the same problem. Be careful with this place! I'm disappointed that I have to find a new auto repair shop, but at least I can warn other Yelp readers before it's too late. read more

Fairfax Auto Repair was upfront and honest and even saved me some money from the original quote. Mike B My 2013 Hyundai Sonata had a strange problem. When we needed a burst of speed to get around someone or get out of the way, every once in a while the Anti Slip feature designed for sliding on snow, would activate and the car would loose power. Very dangerous! We took it into the Hyundai dealership and they couldn't figure out what was causing it. So we brought it into Fairfax Auto repair. They did their homework, checked the car's computer and fixed the problem. AMAZING! The car runs better now than it has in a few years. I highly recommend their services. read more

My car needed new brakes and the inspection also found problems withe the suspension so I got that fixed as well though as it turned out some springs were good so the work came in $400 under estimate.
