I had lunch here today with my parents. I ordered a lobster roll and French fries. Plenty of lobster and the fries were cooked medium well so soft on the inside and a light crunch on the outer. I was so disappointed in this restaurant. I had heard amazing things about and how wonderful it was. When we arrived party of 6, I couldn't figure where to check in no directions out side and two different places ( I suggest you put the hostess out side ! ). I was told a 45 minute wait ended up a hour an half ! Finally we were seated and the service was OK not great so I was so excited to try this food in the specialty pizzas and we all ordered the small pizzas different ones and I have to say I've had better at Dominos pizza. This was the first time we came here. Really busy popular place especially on a Sunday evening! Delicious food lots of menu selections and the portions were huge! I do feel however that you pay for these large portions. Also though it was like COVID was non existent. No masks on any staff we saw and most everyone was having a great time unmasked. We ordered a Rueben and a large pizza. Very disappointed with the Rueben, very little meat, a lot of fat and tasteless sauerkraut. Probably the worst I have ever had. Certainly not worth $16.99! so we finally went for dinner, October 22 atmosphere was a little bright. and it's very loud, but clean I had been wanting to try it for some time. Appetizers were good buffalo chix fingers and the Greek veggie platter (forget name begins with a t) steak tip sub was all onion little steak, my Pizza was great a bit to cheesy but other wise good. our waitress while pleasant made us feel rushed by constantly every 3 mins coming to see if we were ready to order our dinner. we'd ordered aps and they hadn't even been served yet. we ordered dinner anyway and as I knew would happen dinner was out before aps were finished. I told her upon arrival we were in no rush. we would of ordered more drinks which would of made the check bigger which in turn her tip bigger. when it came time to pay, she couldn't be found anywhere. will definitely give it another shot. read more

Walking in, the Bar is prevalent. There were a lot of people that hung around at the bar in were not necessarily there to eat. So I was a little worried about that. However the food was awesome. I got a fairly simple salad with chicken and my husband got a clam dinner. The chicken on my salad is probably the best chicken I've ever had on a salad. It was real chicken it had the grill taste on the outside and was so juicy inside. I also had a purple rain drink which was very yummy. My husband's dinner was also great. The grease the clams were fried in was nice and clean allowing the clams speak for themselves. He even liked the cole slaw which doesnt happen often. Great food. We will be back. read more

Having heard that the food was great, we decided to stop in for an early burger and beer one night. There's more wood decorating this restaurant than there is wood sitting at the lumberyard down the street, it's county chic rustic all the way. The bar, dining room and kitchen area is all very open, coupled with high ceilings, it is very loud, we wouldn't have noticed screaming children over the ambient noise level. You could plot anything here with no fear of the next table over hearing a word. The draught list was underwhelming, plenty of taps, but lots of duplication with bottled options. Our server had little, at best knowledge of the few craft beer options, when we asked if there were any dark offerings she said yes, told us what brewery the lone dark beer was from, though she didn't know the style, and we ordered it, fortunately it was good, it was was no dark beer, darker than Bud or Coors, but still undoubtedly yellow. The menu is expansive, but nearly identical to every Greek owned convenience store menu in New England. We ordered a burger and a turkey club. The burger was passable, not bad, not good, generously sized beefy mediocrity. The turkey club was a tad confusing, my expectation was a club sandwich, what I was served was a grinder, with cheese, looking back at the menu it was under the header heated subs, my mistake. The bacon used on the sandwich appeared to be of the packaged precooked shelf stable variety, the greatest disappointment with the turkey club was that the menu touted roast turkey, had it been made with roast turkey, I'd have forgiven the blah bacon and the unusual preparation, but it was deli turkey, a cardinal sin against a poor defenseless sandwich. I had my first American steak since I came back from a two year stint in Ireland. I loved the ny strip but the ribeye was the bomb!!! They have great ranch dressing and their veg was perfectly cooked both nights. The staff was super friendly and I met the owner and gave him a hug for the lovely meal! Last night was very disappointing at the restaurant. Been there several times in the past and loved it. Took some friend to introduce them to the place, it was all down hill from the minute we walked in. Hostess couldn't decided where to seat us, waitress brought wrong kind of beer, friends food was not cooked as requested, and some of the fried fish was raw inside. To top it all off when the meals came there was only three of the four ordered; so I waited while they ate, and never got my appetizer that I ordered and was offered a box to take it home at the end of the meal. I'm happy to report that my wife and I, who are from Nebraska, disagree with most previous comments! We have nothing but praise for the Fairgrounds Pizza and Pub or Fairgrounds Tavern as it says on their menu. We went for lunch on the Fourth of July, were seated promptly and waited on immediately by a sweet young lady named Tessa. My wife had a salad she said was the best she's ever had and one of their unique pizzas that she rated the same! I had the steak tip sub cooked perfectly to order and delicious! The portions were way larger than we could eat so we each got to go boxes and the prices were the reasonable we have experienced since we got to Maine! We definitely will return and highly recommend it! read more

This is my new place. Really good food, best fishermans platter; which serves a small village. Get the Saco River IPA on tap, local, good and hoppy. Good service. K is very attentive without being over bearing and certainly quite pleasant and natural. The whole crew does a great job! read more

Tried the New Fairgrounds. Pizza was delicious, done just right. Better than any other place in town. Spanakopita was tiny and did not look anything like the pictures posted. Tasted authentic, but $9 for 7 pieces, tiny hobbit bites, was depressing. I want more of this in human size pieces. The onion "rings" were delicious. However they were lumps not rings, 5 rings all mushed into the same batter. My grandson got a hold of them all by grabbing 3. Almost ordered the Maine shrimp dish, only Maine shrimping grounds have been closed for 2 consecutive years, is it fresh? I was concerned by this claim. Also, authentic mousaka is lamb not beef. Greeks should know this. Please don't pander, if it's not authentic don't call it authentic. The renovations were beautiful yet confusing, Greek restaurant with country music, the artwork was strange and had no discernible theme. I was overwhelmed by the stench of manure as I entered. Horse poo is not a nice start to dinner. The free mints at the door were nice. We grabbed a to go menu, and I think I found why they skimp on the spanakopita, to pay for the weird menus. It was a large stapled booklet of what looks like a legal pad of pictures. Where am I going to store this monstrosity? I would be back for the pizza. But, I won't be able to dine next to the smell of manure and won't eat ancient shrimp. August 2017. Was a rainy Friday but stayed the night up north since was going to Sacco next morning so was a perfect place to rest. Normally go to a different pizza place but decided to try this since it's always so packed. Started the night out with a yummy rubber chicken cocktail which was fantastic. Name doesn't sound like the ingredients in the drink but was super yummy! Coconut and pineapple fruity drinks always win for me. My husband had a some beer which be loved. We then ordered an appetizer to share. Potato skins. Perfect amount and equally delicious. Would get those again! We decided to share pizza instead of ordering something different since the pizzas sounded so amazing. We had a large half of lord of the rings and half of the hillbilly. Oh my gosh you have to order these. So unique and different. Totally out of my comfort zone. Normally would have ordered a salad but decided to cheat since I know I would regret not getting pizza. Even had the rest for breakfast the next day. Fried chicken and steak in the morning is something I'd never do but this pizza is totally worth it. Best unique pizza by far. Total time 45 mins. Waitress very nice and attentive. Ordered: Posted soup of the day. Cheese and Broccoli. Flavor of soup nice, ALL veggies in soup however were uncooked and crunchy. Took 20 mins for Soup of Day to arrive. Ordered: Turkey Club. Bread was burned and the black burned part was scrapped off and served. The black crumbs were all over the plate and lettuce. Bottom side of sandwich was also burned but not scrapped off. Bread was so tough could not chew. So ate some of the greasy fries. Only edible part of meal was the ketchup. read more

I want so badly to like this place because of the owners. Bill and Chris are very nice hard working young men. We have been 3 times. First time I had the moussaka. It was great. Beer menu is great. Love the atmosphere. Second time pizza and salad. Not so great. Third time , Turkey club on a roll with cheese? Really! Then there was the missing waitress and the long wait for our meal that was finally delivered by another waitress. My biggest concern is the menu. It is all over the place. There is no consistency. There are lots of categories with a few items in each category. I have no idea if it's a Greek restaurant, a pizza place ( strange choices for pizza) , or what. Maybe next time and yes there will be a next time, I'll do greek or a burger. Since Bill and Chris are of greek heritage I know that will be good, and who can mess up a burger. read more

So we have eaten twice at Fairgrounds Both times we had great service and large portions. Service is quick and the menu has plenty to pick from ,Ruben sandwich was delicious. Weird thing happened Friday night. We had our drinks and dinner, paid and lingered. There was a band setting up and the place was rather emptying out. There were many empty seats. We even thought about about ordering dessert but wait staff was sparse. Some guy in a Security t- shirt came by to bus our table, didn't say anything, picked up and read the signed credit card slip that showed we paid, our tip, etc.... and walked away. WTF? We got a pizza that was ok but burned, carbonara that was chicken and shrimp with alfredo from the jar and upscaled bacon bits for $18 that had been sitting long enough for the top to get that yellow please stir me look. NUT ALLERGIES BEWARE....if you have a nut allergy this restaurant is NOT SAFE for you. We began with our beverage order and when I asked about the chicken fingers and fries being nut free, the server's response was "well um we really can't guarantee there isn't any cross contamination so no." So I asked then the fingers and fries are not free? She said well we can't guarantee it. We asked if she could ask someone she said she would speak with the chef. She came back with the same response. I told her then we can't eat here. I was so shocked. So I excused myself as she walked away to ask her another clarifying question, "so anyone with a nut allergy can't eat here because nothing is safe". She said yes. Well my cousins who live in Porter said they will never come here again and neither will we. Not really a fan of their food. Everything tasted really processed... And very pre-made... I feel like I get the same food at any chain restraunts. Because they are located in proximity to some really great restaurants that have some very amazing fresh dishes. I feel like fairground needs to step it up a little bit.... I had the ribs once and then pizza the next time I went. The pizza was better than the ribs but there are three amazing pizza places very close I would not recommend fairgrounds... If you want good beer it is definitely the place to go the bar is great and the selection is good and they stay open later than anybody else which is nice being someone who lives in the area and works late... So if you're in the mood for generally OK food and varied beer selection that stays open late then fairgrounds is a place to go. read more

Worst service we've had in a long time. We pass this place often, so we thought we'd stop in for dinner. Had three kids under 12 with us, and it took the server 15 minutes to even bring us menus, even longer to bring our drinks, and over an hour to bring our food. We had to flag down a manager to pay attention to us. Other servers brought our food, which had been sitting under a heat lamp for some time. What a shame. Since YELP's instructions for editing a review are not working, please consider this when reading my review from last night. And for the 'icing on the cake'. figuratively speaking, of course, because we never got a meal: let's talk about good business practices. Fairgrounds has its draft beer list on laminated placards inserted in the menu. However, tonight, as with other nights, the waitress had to come back twice and tell me that the beer I ordered was recently rotated or was not available. If this happens so much, why not just have paper inserts whereon the absent beer could be crossed out with a Magic Marker, and/or list the beers on hand on a chalk board and erase them when out? Two positive things are accomplished here. First, the customer does not have to be disappointed 1, 2, or 3 times by being told the beer, that he/she had his/her mind set on, is not on hand. Second, the already very busy waitress does not have to waste time returning to the table multiple times and wait while the customer chooses a 2nd or 3rd alternative. Time is $. read more
