    Lobster Lovers Trio
    Josh H.

Fairgrounds Hotel, located on North 17th Street in Allentown, is a historic American restaurant known for its seafood. It's open Tuesday through Thursday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and Friday and Saturday until 9:00 PM. It had been a few years since my last visit, and the menu has expanded quite a bit since then, including the addition of the lobster flight, so I decided it was time to stop back in. I started with the crispy calamari, perfectly cooked and tender, with a mix of rings and tentacles. After the calamari, I moved on to the mac & cheese flight, a rich, creamy trio of lobster, crabby cheddar, and homestyle five-cheese. Next up was the French Onion Sea Hag soup, a luxurious twist on the classic. The cheese melted and crusted on the crock, topped with shrimp and scallops, made every bite irresistible. Finally came the main event, the lobster tail flight, featuring tails from Maine, South Africa, and Brazil. The South African and Brazilian tails were firm, tender, and flavorful, while the Maine tail, though sweet, was a bit mushy. All lobster is served with a butter warmer, which I consider essential. My buddy ordered the Admiral's Surf N Turf, with an 18 oz tomahawk and a 5 oz South African tail. The steak was well seasoned and cooked to a juicy medium-rare, though his lobster was mushy, much like my Maine tail. For dessert, he ordered the strawberry pie and said it was one of the best desserts he's ever had. Service was solid overall, though slow at times, which is understandable on a busy Friday night. All in all, it was a great experience, and my buddy and I really enjoyed ourselves.

Service was great. Our waiter was friendly and prompt. The restaurant itself was cute and unique. I had a problem with the food. It's was bland. I had the French onion soup, scallops with potato's and veggies. The French onion soup was not good to me. It was creamy (I have a thing for texture) it wasn't like a normal French onion soup. My boyfriend couldn't eat it as it was too salty. The scallops were well cooked but super bland as if they broiled them and that's it. Not taste. Veggies were mushy and very salty (I LOVE salt). The red potatoes were the only part of my plate that I enjoyed. My boyfriend enjoyed his clam chowder but also thought his fish, scallops, crab cakes were bland and wasn't crazy about it.

Check this place out if you're in the Allentown area! It's a little quirky, but cozy. It's a casual, cool place to get some great food and drinks. The menu has something for everyone. They were very accommodating when we told them that one of the guests in our party had a shellfish allergy. The food was delicious. Service was on pointe.

The food was fantastic. I had the lobster flight and my wife had the crab legs. She said hers were fantastic. My meal was good, I liked the two of the 3 lobster tails . I also had the strawberry pie it was fantastic. The service was great. I highly recommend this place.

Server was awesome and food was great! The decor is a bit weird but we really enjoyed the experience. Drove about an hour for the experience and it was totally worth it. I won't be a regular due to the commute, but I'll certainly be back.

Food was very good the service not so much. Several times we waited over 15 minutes to refill our beverages.

But few people think about the importance of the bread. It is the vessel that holds all the deliciousness together. A new sandwich shop, The Hive, just up from Triangle Park in Emmaus is focusing on hoagie-style sandwiches made with fresh French bread from next-door neighbor, Egypt Star Bakery. Which has mouthwatering bread that makes the sandwich complete, and all your mouth buds open up, and dancing around. The Hive has had a soft opening with a small menu of "whole" and "half" sandwiches. A whole is about two feet long. Options include Italian (honey ham, Genoa salami, capicola with provolone cheese); ham and cheese; turkey and cheese; and tuna. You can also get those options as pita wrap sandwiches. The Hive also has a few sides such as cole slaw, hummus with pita, chips and cheddar mac salad. Since they just opened, give them no time, they will have more selections. This is a must try and support your local new business. We need to keep them around.

The veggies were fresh and the sandwich was dressed with an oil & vinegar blend, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper. I like how they cut the sandwich on the horizontal, as it allowed every bite and taste to be even. The sandwich did not fall apart. The inside of the shop is small, but very engaging. I ordered my sandwich at the counter; it was ready for take out in five minutes. I met the owner on my way out, and he's a very nice man who is dedicated to providing a quality product at a reasonable value. I had a half, and it was more than enough for lunch. My total cost with tax was $13 and change. I consider it a good value for the quality of the sandwich. #rushieeats. (No location tag as of this writing)
