We went with some friends to sample some traditional Portuguese for lunch. The bar was hopping and the dining room had 5-6 tables occupied. We sat and were greeted by a very pleasant server- Isabelle? The tables were a little sticky. We enoyed the cod croquettes and the queijo fresco with gorgeous fresh bread to start with. The cheese was so light and creamy - it was a nice mix with the red pepper sauce. My friends got the Portuguese soup which was good- not fabulous. The broth tasted a little under seasoned and maybe watery. The fish soup was almost entirely blended- I think we expected it to be chunkier, also mediocre in flavor. We then shared a plate of fried smelts which I had never had and the Bacalhau a Braz. My friend said the smelt were sort of dried out- not much fish meat to enjoy. My Bacalhau a Braz was delicious- a nice blend of flavors. I thoroughly enjoyed it and we left completely full. One suggestion to the restaurant- that many restaurants do- please be mindful of spraying the table cleaner in a nearby table when your guests are eating. One of our favorite restaurants to stop off for a delightful lunch when we're in the area. We are so happy that they survived the COVID shutdowns and back to full indoor seating. They haven't quite returned fully to table cloths and table settings (in order to ease sanitation), but I'm sure they will in the near future. More importantly, their food quality remains the same as in our pre-pandemic visits. So pleasant to return to our favorites: the goat cheese of course (queijo fresco), clams with tomato and garlic, shrimp in garlic, fried calamari, and a new favorite: grilled limpets, hot and sizzling, with a wonderful dipping sauce. And plenty of those terrific soft Portuguese rolls to sop up all the juices! read more

The French fries were not the same as previous weeks they were not fresh!The fish portion shrunk plus the fish was refried and not cooked all the way thru. When I complained about it I was told there is nothing she could do about it. There is no consistency from week to week the quality is not the same. I don't understand how this happens. My order arrived almost a half hour later than originally scheduled and the food was extremely cold. The fish and chips had a batter so thick that there was a small amount of fish and the fish appeared not to be cooked thoroughly. The shrimp Mozambique was made with fully encased shrimp so removing the shell was difficult at best and meant there was little flavor once you reached the shrimp. The rice and fries were the best part of the meal unfortunately. Will not order again. read more

I have lived here my whole life and never have been until last Sunday. I love Portuguese pork and little necks and I have been craving it. Of all the places I have eaten pork and little necks this was the absolute worse place. It had no taste at all, no spice, no garlic nothing. it was like a nursing home...bland. my wife got the steak and she said it was not good, I tasted it and it had a weird flavor I couldn't figure out what it was but agreed it was not good. The staff was more interested in playing on their phones and sitting to talk with their friends than attending customers needs. Won't be coming back. The restaurant is on second street, home to the infamous Lizzy Borden if you wish to take a stroll. Walking in through the unassuming front you find yourself in a hallway leading to the bar. Its a typical male Portuguese bar, i walked in accidentally with my wife and everyone glared. At her for being at the bar and at me for me bringing her; very unladylike of course. My Portuguese wife from Fall River knew better against grabbing a drink before dinner so on to the main (and separate) dining room we went. Inside its nicely decorated enough. The peach colored walls are a bit much though and there is little character to the space as its a simple garage-like square. But my first impression walking in was not the decor but the smell...roasted garlic cooked in wine and other spices-its all about the food when you go to a Portuguese restaurant. Right away came the bread-but of course. It was softer than typical and it wasnt warm but Delicious nonetheless. Just like you can judge an Italian restaurant by its Chicken Pa rm and a Thai by its Pad Thai the Portuguese steak is the staple and naturally what i ordered for my first time. As the norm with this dish, it came with yellow rice, fries and topped with peppers, garlic and a fried egg. It was notably spicy adding to a bolder taste than customary. I ate about half and it was delicious. It is not as good however as the local legend Academica version and so my search happily continues. Fall River is certainly a wonderful Portuguese food haven, The Fall River Grill is a top 5 but there is certainly better places. read more

The service was sloooow even through they were not busy or understaffed- we couldn't figure it out. We waited about 20 minutes before our drink order was taken (water) and then a bit longer before our dinner order was taken. We looked around at a few other people who looked unhappy with nothing in front of them. This included a group of six sitting at a table near us who had not been acknowledged in anyway for a good long while- we watched as the family got up to leave- a waitress paused from talking with two customers at their table and said she'd be right with them- and the mother leaving fired back "you've just been standing there chatting!" - the hilarious thing was that as soon as the family walked out the door said waitress continued her spirited conversation (it seemed the customers she was talking to were friends). We kind of expected the outburst to make the waitress realize that every other customer in the restaurant was thinking the same thing...and that she'd also lost a tip from a party of six. Plus- If I was the owner I'd be pretty upset that money was walking out the door due to poor service. Our food was finally delivered 50 minutes after we first arrived. My fiancé had ordered the surf and turf and I had ordered the steak sandwich. My sandwich was ok- nothing to write home about. My fiancé said his steak was tasty- so an overall average meal. It seems this might be more of a locals place as some customers got more attention that others- not sure. Wouldn't go out of my way to come again. read more

My fiancé family if from FR and love to visit the grill weekly. It is a small yet well decorated place. Very cut reminds me of a cafe in Italy. The staff makes everyone feel like they are family. Avoid this place at all costs! I wish I looked up the reviews to this place before we went there, but it was the closest place we could find and we were hungry! When my friends and I (7 total) arrived, the place was pretty busy. We told them that we had 7 people and they were able to seat us pretty quickly. So far so good, right? Wrong. Now before I go into sharing how awful our service and our food was, let me just say that I'm sure the Portuguese food is good here since this is a Portuguese restaurant. HOWEVER, if you are going to put burgers onto your menu, at least try to make it "good". The only reason why my friends ate their food was because it was 2:30 and we haven't eaten all day. So, four of my friends ordered cheeseburgers with a side of fries. I ordered chicken and rice soup because I wasn't feeling well. It took over 45-50 minutes for them to serve us the burgers... bubba burgers. You heard that right. The cheeseburger patties were cold and so was the cheese. It wasn't melted, not even warmed up, just a solid slice of cheese on top of a bubba patty in between two cheap ass burger buns. When we told the servers that the burgers were cold and the cheese wasn't even melted, they tried to justify this nonsense by saying that since the patties were cooked to medium, the inside of the patty should be cold and the outside shouldn't be that hot, which is why the cheese isn't melted........are you incompetent? That's not how meat works. The lettuce and tomato was placed on the side and the slice of tomato was the size of literally 1/3 of the entire burger. Also, my soup came out last. At that point, I didn't even want it anymore. How does soup come out last?? Also, I'm pretty sure it came out of a can. Nothing against canned soup, we love ourselves some Campbell's. But there's no way in hell I'm gonna be ok with $4 canned soup. Water wasn't refilled until we were almost out the door. Oh, also-they can't do separate checks. They can split the bill an even number of ways, but you can't pay separately either, so don't bother asking. I really hate to leave such a negative review, especially at a local restaurant. However, after our experience, we will not be returning nor will we recommend this place. read more

Went here for late lunch, place was clean and not many people around just locals at the bar. We had a groupon otherwise I had never heard of this place before. Definitely recommend the spicy chourico which had a good kick but not too spicy, dipped the portuguese bread in the sauce which was pretty good. Also had the shrimp mozambique which was ok, and the steak medallions which was cooked perfectly and served with a flavorful sauce. Overall the portuguese dishes were pretty good and very flavorful and you get a lot of food for the price. Only downside was waiting about 30 minutes for our food to be served, although it was probably due to the kitchen being backed up by catering orders for fourth of july weekend. Good local place for lunch or dinner if yoi have time to stop by. read more

Amazing food, customer service often slacks. Recently ordered to go food two orders only received one had to go back inside they said only about 10 min they would call me and I assumed I would be getting it for free she didn't give me a price or anything they messed up not me. Still not call over 20 min while I'm sitting in car waiting with my 2 year old. So I go inside they charge me full price which is already expensive $20 for spaghetti with chicken? No remorse or anything couldn't even give me a discount free drink something for their mistake. Food and atmosphere was sub-par. Felt very cramped and the atmosphere didn't lend any hands for it to not feel that way either. Entrance was also fairly difficult to find which almost had us walk away to begin with! Started with the kale soup and it was really quite decent, they use chicken broth which made it a little saltier which I actually like but my date very much disliked. My clams were honestly amazing! Cleaned very well, taste was awesome, not rubbery, very smooth but the peppers that were in the rice were so salty I had to pick them out one by one, never a good sign. All in all we will absolutely give this place another chance, they have an outdoor patio that seems very nice, and the food was ok enough for us not to write this place off just yet! read more

Two stars are for the friendly staff and the clean facilities. We really had high hopes coming here based on several referrals (from Portuguese people!) but the food was incredibly disappointing, much to our chagrin. Given how mediocre the food was and how few people were in the restaurant for Tuesday lunch, it took a very long time (easily 20 minutes) to get our entrees. The Littlenecks appetizer were plump and juicy but the broth was much too salty. With my surf & turf entree, the steak had no flavor whatsoever (tasted like water) and the shrimp were overcooked & dry. My wife's stuffed Scrod tasted good but the fish itself was overcooked to the point of having no firmness and the side vegetables were boiled to pure mush. If it were not for the immaculate restaurant and the very sweet waitress & bartender, I would have given 1-star. Super bummed to drop $72+ tip on this place given all of the local hype about this being a great local Portuguese restaurant. We won't be back. read more

Came here about 3 months ago with my family, food was below average and my girlfriend and I agreed we weren't going back. UberEats had a promotion and Fall River grill was just about the only option so we decided to give it another try. Boy, did we make a mistake. Ordered the surf and turf plate and chicken Mozambique. Both plates had zero flavor. The chicken was extremely overcooked, dry, mushy and floating in a watery, flavorless Mozambique sauce. Steak was under seasoned, tasted of vinegar and sat in a 1/4" of oil. Shrimp was definitely not fresh, and tasted fishy. The shrimp stuffing was average as well as the rice and fries. They charge $25 for the surf and turf which is comical. It's a $15 plate at best if seasoned correctly. Try Portas de Cidade or Avos Feast for a delicious Portuguese meal. read more

The location of the restaurant could be better but the cuteness inside the dinning hall makes up for it. It's bright and open and looks freshly painted. I ended up having the mixed kabobs and they were cooked to perfection. Layers of shrimp, chicken , streak , onions and peppers. The presentation of the kabob matched the food.
