We were very happy with each phase of our first day with this company. They set us up with their 1st available appointment that was over a month out, but put us on a call earlier list if there is a cancellation. This was great for us, because as retirees we could be available at a days notice. Both of us got calls to come in earlier than our scheduled appointments. Front desk staff were very efficient at processing Maggie & I as 1st time patients. The dental team makes the 1st appointment 2hrs long to do a very thorough exam. They want your input to get your level of involvement in the dental care process. The equipment they have is top of the industry standard. It gives the patient a good view of dental issues, allowing a more knowledgeable choice by patient & Dentist. We never felt pressured to additional care that wasn't truly required at the present time. We were given a break down priority list of items needed & told they would work with us on payment steps based on the priority list. Even given discounts on how payments can be made. I see them on Monday for 1st step in fixing some of my issues. We highly recommend this Dental Care Family

I am giving this location one star solely because the clinical staff who took care of my teeth and…read morethe initial phone receptionist were polite and kind. Otherwise, they deserve zero stars for their completely unprofessional front desk behavior and terrible management. I took a half-day off work for a 3:30 PM appointment. While I was already frustrated by being charged at every consecutive visit, I asked the front desk staff member, Cole, for a clear explanation of the billing. He gave me a completely cold reception. While we were trying to resolve a payment issue due to an expired card, I called their office line to find an alternative way to pay. While explaining to the phone representative that the front desk wasn't explaining the charges clearly, Cole interrupted and defensively snapped that he had already explained it. It was incredibly rude and unprofessional. While we both may have been having a stressful day, his customer service was completely unacceptable. Hoping to resolve the situation, I tried to schedule an appointment with the manager last Thursday to explain what happened. I was promised a callback from management that never came. Instead, when I arrived for my scheduled appointment the following week, I was told they had canceled my appointment and would no longer service me. While I respect that businesses have their own policies and I have no desire to return, their complete lack of communication and failure to address a customer service issue is deeply disappointing. My advice to anyone visiting this clinic: If you are having a stressful day, need billing clarity, or simply have questions about where your money is going--do not ask. If you question them or ask too many questions, expect to be dropped as a patient

After many years of going to Sandi for her patient-centered policies, she has "gone corporate." Since expanding her practice, Sandi now forces patients into wholly unnecessary profit-oriented processes, explaining it away by claiming "liability" concerns for herself. In the past she was warm and friendly. Wow did she turn cold when I questioned her dramatic reversal of her own health care beliefs and commitments. In fact, I checked with the ADA and her assertions about "mandatory" procedures are simply wrong. But she would rather make the money than stand by her own commitments that I trusted. In fact, I sat in her waiting area and listened to her literally pitch one of her new dental procedures to another patient. (A pitch that had the feel of needing to justify the high cost of an expensive equipment purchase.) Based on how happy I was with her approach, I had referred several people to her. I am now embarrassed to have so enthusiastically recommended her and withdraw my endorsement.

A 2nd opinion was requested, which nobody has followed up on with me. I told them I need 31 crowned because that is the one hurting me. 3rd appointment They were going to crown 30, not 31, they have no nitrous available, I waited nearly and hour to see a dentsit. They did the prep work for the crown and then the dentist came in and said he couldn't do a crown or he wasn't sure if he could, and I should see an endontist to figure that out. It was already hurting me, so I said go ahead and pull it. Again, no nitrous in the office at all. He yanked on my face for at least an hour, and said I'd have to go to an oral surgeon to finish the job. The battery kept running out on his headlamp, they didn't have the tools to finish the job, and there seemed to be other equipment lacking. The dentist said he'd pay for whatever my insurance didn't cover at the oral surgeon, so that was decent. He made the appointment, and I went there the next day. It took the oral surgeon about 3 minutes to get the roots out. I had to suffer through another round of novocane shots in the same spots as the day before. As far as the office is concerned, there seems to be communication problems with regard to appointments and they seem to be overbooking patients. I will be looking for a new dentist again. Sigh.

Recently, I was advised that there was a decay on my upper wisdom tooth that it would be best to just extract it out to prevent future issues. Honestly, having gone through wisdom teeth extraction process (2 lower ones) 20+ years ago (elsewhere)...I wasn't really thrilled about having to repeat my own traumatic experience again. The scheduling took some time as the time had to be coordinated and I had changed some insurances. That said, the day of operation, I was so nervous and anxious! I wasn't quite sure what to expect with local anesthesia. But, the staff at UNM Dental Surgical Center from front desk Brie to the nurse Chelsea and dentist team working with Dr. Watson were all around awesome! It was such a chill, relaxing vibe at the place on day of operation. Plus, who gets to listen to Frank Sinatra while getting your tooth extract?!?!?! They all were so kind, friendly, relatable, professional and just all around great! The process took just 30 minutes and everything was all done! It went really smoothly that I wished I hadn't delayed taking out my wisdom teeth until later in my life! If you are looking for a professional team to take care and manage your dental, I definitely recommend UNM Dental Services. It may be difficult going through appointment processes, but once you are in the system, everything went well! They could help you with anything from just cleaning to doing surgery like what I just went through!

I tried pain killers and a filling repair kit but I found only limited relief. After three days I couldn't take it any longer. Not willing to ruin my whole vacation with tooth pain I started looking for a dentist that could take me for some emergency intervention. We found this dentist fairly close to where we were staying and we called them. They understood our situation and got us in for an early afternoon appointment. We arrived early to fill out paperwork and I told them I would be paying via Credit Card and getting reimbursed by my Health Savings Plan. They told me they would provide all the paperwork I needed to get reimbursed. They were very courteous and professional and I didn't have to wait long after I finished the paperwork. I was escorted into a room and seated quickly. The dental assistant walked me through the process to take an x-ray of my problem tooth. My wait for the doctor (dentist) was equally short. He came in after 10 minutes and introduced himself as Doctor Long (C. Ross Long, DDS) and proceeded to ask me questions about my situation. He looked at the x-ray and explained to me very clearly what was going on. He showed me what was left of my old filling (around 30 years old), and the temporary patch job that I did with the filling kit. He told me I did a great job patching the whole where part of the filling came out, too good in fact because it trapped bacteria inside the tooth. The bacteria over several days grew and had nowhere to go except push on the root which was the cause of my pain. He explained that he would remove the old filling, my temporary filling, clean everything out, do a partial root canal, then patch it all back up and I would be good to go until I got back home to have a crown put on. He told me that my gums were healthy and that my dentist would have no problem finishing the root canal. He injected me with novacaine and told me to sit tight until I was numb...about 20 minutes. Then the doctor with his capable assistant made short work of my situation. Within 30 minutes they were done and I was sitting up in the chair. The doctor told me he wouldn't charge me for the x-ray and that the whole procedure came to $189.00. Wow, what service and what a great deal. If I ever find myself in Albuquerque, I know where I want my dental work done. Thank you Doctor Long and North Coors Dental.
